Was OK for a few years then Optus took over – Savvytel was fine until Optus tookover I changed sim and then about a year later without no warning I lost $20 worth of call credits. I tried to contact Savvytel and optus but no luck useless.

Over 2 years small use customer and service just works as advertised! – Needed a low usage sms and phone service. mainly for emergency use. We are oldies 60 nearly this year and dont need a phone glued to our ears but need reliablillity and cheap cost! Savvytel provides this. Like the online rcharge for the credit never expires service.. had 2 phones on this, min and the wifes but not I have work phone again so one… Read more
sits idle. Yet still has credit so gonna move across to MIL as she had been on a $10/month plan. thats way to expensive for her. Savvytel will do nicely.
No comment re internet or voicemail. never use it. Just basic call and be called is best value with call credits never expire plan. cheapest deal around for longest time never expire credits (6 months must make 1 call) Voicemail may have a setup problem but never use anyway!
new SAVVYTEL customer switch from telstral – I am a SaVVYTel prepaid mobile phone and my friend introduced me to SaVVYTel prepaid mobile broadband as I am only a WEEKEND USER it will be the best money saver for minimum usage which unused will be rollover to the next month recharge, and also had switched from telstral prepaid mobile broadband which was a real reapoff, most expensive. once I… Read more
had activated it, I found my internet was not working properly, I called 1203 and got a good service on advice, plus a second time, it was busy, I left my mobile number with a brief description of a difficulty, savvytel customer service-michael returned my call and assisted me and resolved the issue, this was on the weekend!!!! WONDERFULL SERVICE happy customer. Double SaVVYTel client both mobile phone & mobile broadband computer. weekend cheapie user, give it a connect and call
Great service for a VERY low level user – Well, I'm a pensioner and have two old but good Samsung cellphones - emergency use only. One in car one at home for wife to carry. The non-expiry option has been great. In two years all up has cost about $50 (25 cents per week!) with topups, after emergency uses. Unfortunately Late Today I have tried to raise Savvytel for topup and their phone… Read more
is not working. Neither is my account accessible on the Web. Does not look too good.
I hope is only malfunction, but luckily, ALDI have just started up a service which looks pretty good and has a 12month expiry plan. CHEAP! I had no problems with the service over two years or so - hiccoughs were well-handled.

Looks like a real dodgy company – I purchased a new sim pack online and it was delivered pretty fast. Then I activated the new SIM and requested to port my existing number. It has been almost four days and I still can't use my phone. I can't call their customer service from the new sim as it says I have no credit. Called them from the work phone and talk with a dimwit who had no… Read more
idea about the issue. All he did,was just promising it would work within couple of hours.
Next day I reached a better person who assured me that it was an Optus issue and and everything might be fixed within another two days. All answers were very vague.
I've already been screwed by this company without even starting using their services.
I am really disappointed and thinking about sending back their bloody SIM. The price they advertizing Terrible customer service. Looks like they employ completely incompetent people.
Dishonesty is bad for business - and I don't employ dishonest people in dishonest companies – Had a "unlimited credit" plan with them, but found that the amount of calls were escalating and the need for a better plan than a stand by emergencies only plan was developing. They advertised their "Unlimited / Savvy Max plan" - which at only $38 per month gave you unlimited calls to land lines and mobiles and 4 Gig of data. The exceptions… Read more
were 1300 and 1800 numbers which came to a 30c flag fall fee and 80c per minute in costs.
I thought - well that sucks but I can make them calls from the local phone box on my morning walks... so I can live with it.
So made a few 134567 type calls... because these could be assumed to be in the"unlimited" calls to land lines rates.
At the end of the month, I copped a "You have insufficient credit in your account to make calls SMS" and being the geniuses they are, they still have it rigged that calls to customer service are free, but you have to have credit in your account to call them.
So I did, and it turns out the they actually charge for calls to 134567 type numbers - so the CS person rather than wear that they had gotten their terms and conditions so wrong, and that they would have to wear the cost of the calls, he tried to convince me with 134567 numbers are 1300 numbers....
I refused to pay and I asked for the call to the manager to be escalated, and the manager never called me back.
So I wrote him a letter and four weeks later the guy has not replied. So instead of wearing the difference between what is in the terms and conditions and what they ought not to have charged for, they just tried to lie and avoid responsibility for it.
As their promotion states, "Get loved with Savvytel"? - No, get lied too by the staff and ignored by the management, as they try to duck and weave their way out of it.
I moved to Amaysim, same deal and no charges on the 1300 or 1800 numbers either.
Dishonesty is not acceptable in my eyes. Good up to the point where they lie to you to get out of what they are respinsible for. When they start to lie and play games - and when it's really stupid lying - "134567 is not a 1300 number" - "oh yes it is" .
Terrible – Would never recommend. Lousy service. All there fancy advertising means nothing. They need to take lessons in customer service. They can stick it No probs until now.Suited my phone requirements. Have been phoning for days and sending email now to try and get info on the changeover to optus to no avail. Can't even recharge my account.

Love it! – I have been a Savvytel customer for some years now and love it - cheap phone calls and ams costs mean the credit goes down very slowly and better yet, the credit never expires. Why use anyone else? I admit I am not always on the phone, so costs are kept low, but the benefit of not losing the credit because of that is enormous. Recommend.
Optus ruins the deal! – I've been a customer for about 4 years. Simply love the idea that what you paid for (credit) remains yours and doesn't vanish into thin air as happens with the thieves that run the major providers. Sadly though I'm about to cease being a customer. The absolutely lousy Optus coverage has driven me away. 12 km from the Melbourne CBD and I had go… Read more
outside the house in the rain to send a text. Credit bought is not stolen from you. Useless, flawed, non service, no coverage by Optus
Like their strengths, accept the weeknesses – Great call rates and plans (prepaid and billed). No flagfall. Great Optus coverage. Good Web site. Weak customer service but I survive Try to contact via the e-mail address (it will relieve some of the stress of waiting endlessly on the phone), though they do answer and most are friendly and helpful Great call rates and plans (prepaid and billed) Weak customer service but I survive
Long time user on two mobiles – Have had absolutely no problems with Savvytel! have been using them for over two years - no probs with coverage up and down the Queensland coast. Cheap calls and no probs! Only used as pre paid and on very basic phones. Emails answered within a good frame when making queries. Phone even worked in Singapore! inexpensive, hassle free - credits don't run out!
Excellent – Signed up via website, received my sim card in the mail promptly, called up to activate my sim, didn't have to wait on hold for hours and activation was quick and easy. So far VERY pleased! Well done SavvyTel! :) Credit never expires, cheap call rates, great for a low end user. No complaints as yet,
"Savvytel " the answer to rid yourself of the other Thieving Carriers – After years of other pre-paid companies ripping me off by taking my credit, Savvytel has saved me hundreds of dollars over the last 4 years as credit does not expire, they have the cheapest call and text rates in Australia as well. Savvytel - Pesioner Phone Paradise! – Since retiring 3 years ago, I needed a reliable, inexpensive mobile phone service to replace the costly Telstra Plan I was on while self employed. My average time spent using my Telstra mobile plan was 110 minutes per month and it was costing me a minimum of $60 per month to do so. Since switching to Savvytel's $20 cap plan, I am able to achieve… Read more
the same average call usage and have only exceeded it 3 times in 3 years - and then only by a small margin.
My wife now has a Savvytel pre-paid phone and $50 lasts her for about 6 months!
My 88 year old mother was given a pre-paid mobile with Virgin - and its $50 starting fund ran out before she'd even used $10 of it. I've now switched her to Savvytel and she's delighted that her new $20 pre-paid Savvytel deal will never expire unless she uses it! Reliable, inexpensive, easy to top up prepaid credits - a great Aussie provider!
Best value for light end user – Having low priced prepaid credits are a great way to manage mobile phone expenses for a low end user. Have selected the Savvytelite so friends visiting from outside Australia can use it while they are here. I'm pleased, and my international visitors are very pleased too. credit.
I had one misunderstanding with charging and Customer service were very prompt to respond to my email query about it, and also credited my account to compensate.
Also easy to order sim card and create account through the internet. Best value prepaid that I can find on the market. Uses Optus network, so coverage good. Easy to topup and check balance. From reading other reviews, it seems that possibly if the account is not used for 6 months, then the card might expire, even though credits don't. Savvytel may need to make this clearer on their website.
Great value for money, credits never expire! – I have been with Savvytel for 3 years and have had no trouble with them. I love the fact that their credits never expire and value for money is terrific. My credits seem to last forever. Recharge by phone is a breeze.
Terrible – Rubbish. Stick with 3 or Vodaphone. If you want a cheapie Kiss is excellent. Cheap calls and credits never expire. Sort of what Savvytel tried to be !! This mob just did an unauthorised port of my number from 3/Vodaphone. We had ported from Savvytel to 3 three months ago and then last week they just decided to port it back!! Thank goodness 3 sorted it for me. Of course, no contact or apology from Savvytel. Stay well away.
Very happy. Seamless transfer – So glad to escape from those X@#$% fools at 3 Telecom. Savvytel have been most helpful with any queries and prompt in answering calls. I was reluctant to take them on initially as my impressions of Optus are similar to previous reviews canning them. However, to date, am very happy. I am a light user of voice, sms and web so this suits me perfectly.
avoid – Service center operators almost never available to answer and they have the opposite of radio voices, as if the call center is overseas. I called a few times during the day unable to get through, the last time there was a message that the office was closed and to call during business hours! It was mid afternoon on a weekday! SIM cards are not… Read more
pre-activated so you can't avoid phoning them. You have to phone them. The normal SIM can too easily be snapped into the mini SIM, unlike other SIMS. If you are in Sydney, you could try going to their office to activate, but it's not worth the $5 SIM, just throw the junk away.
Great customer service – Stumbled across this googling savvytel to go & recharge with the really negative customer service review, so just want to add my experience. Has been a while since I've called so things may have changed, but when I called at about 11pm my call was answered by someone with an Indian accent & thought oh no! but through the conversation it became… Read more
extremely clear that he was based in Australia at their office in St Leonards Sydney & he was extremely helpful & knowledgeable.
I've had a few problems, especially during the change over from vodaphone to optus networks but their customer service has always gone above & beyond the call & has been fantastic to speak to Australians. I was able to actually go to their office (same place as call centre) within half an hour of calling & collect the new, already coded sim card for free when I managed to loose mine & on another occasion when the problem was their fault, they actually brought the new sim card to my home a few hours after my call. Definitely takes longer than average to get through, but worth it once you do in my experience Great Australian customer service, cheap calls, small company that cares about it's customers Can be hard to get through to speak to someone, small company with less options available than some of the bigger ones
Terrible – the total lack of care by savvytel, who seem to have "taken the money and run" and sold me down the drain without my knowledge or permission as a paying cutomer who still had valid credit on my account under a certain set of conditions, which they then tried to change, and the blatant cynicism of optus in trying to force me onto their network… Read more
without any kind of prior notification has turned me off these sleazy operators.the telecommunications industry ombudsman needs to take a good look at this situation.any way, as i said before, they can shove it! were the cheapest with no call credit expiry and reasonable customer service last time i bought a recharge it was unusable.i dialled 126711 and the computer wouldn't accept the (new) 10-digit recharge pin on the voucher.reread voucher, found new recharge ph.no.555.rang it(4times)and the number came up"number not valid".rang and emailed savvytel numerous times.never got through and they never got back to me.tried to recharge online but was told that optus(!?)will no longer process recharges for customers who have a vodafone ph.no. what the???! looks like i've just paid $30 for a scrap of paper!! checked some forums online and found out that savvtel has effectively been sold off to optus. no notification email to let the customer know anything.how much would that cost? you are phone company for f@#$s sake!! this is an absolute disgrace! you, savvytel (and optus) don't deserve my business or any of the other customer's you've screwed around either. you can shove it, i'm off to vodafone with my $60 a month to get teir $49 cap with free phone, free usb modem,2GBfree data broadband,500MBphone data, free vodafone to vodafone calls and $450 worth of calls and i'll get change from my sixty bux.

Excellent – I love them since the started. They provide cheap call rate and most of all the credit never expired! I have them for my kid. cheap rate charge No 3G
Excellent – Very satisfied over a number of years now and have made many recommendations to others. Service has been good, coverage adequate and easy on line recharge - 5 stars Dependable with no ugly backdoor charges to amoratise over actual calls made making mobiles an awfully expensive luxury.
Terrible – Savvytel promote themselves as credits never expire, the reality contradicts this, the calls may be cheap, but the stress of using their service is high. It is virtually impossible to purchase a recharge voucher from a retail outlet. credits never expire My account balance message says that my service will be disconnected unless I recharge by a… Read more

I am a light user of mobile calls, and on aged pension, I have recommended this service to many friends. Terrible – Heap of [censored word removed] company!!! Signed up as I thought my credits would not expire as I was going overseas. Terrible – The deal sounds great - credit that never expires, cheap calls and texts. However, the company is disorganised, leaving customers waiting for months at a time to have their problems solved. They failed to notify customers of important changes that left many people without use of their SIM cards. Horrible customer service - not worth the headache,… Read more
they are dirt cheap for a reason. Credit never expires (if they ever give you the credit) It seriously took me a full year to get my number validated due to their phone lines being constantly busy, shocking customer service, website is riddled with typos, when I tried to register my number it repeatedly told me to "enter a valied [sic] mobile no."

contact them. No pros at all. I purchased a sim card with a cap and they have not activated it after 2 weeks. There message box promises they will cal you back within 48 hours! This is a LIE. Terrible – STAY AWAY FROM THEM!! They'll just take your money and run. We should have read this review site before buying it. We bought their mobile account and they charged our credit card but didn't receive the product. They don't reply to our email and we can never get through to the customer service. We are now disputing the charge.
Terrible – Thanks to Savvytel. My wife and I are now both have to look for a new mobile phone provider.
