Do not build with this company – Do not build with this company Please beware of this building company. From the start of my build to now, I have not had a good experience with anyone from their organisation. I built a house with them in 2018, and now, in 2024, I have been informed that a crack in the render at the front of the house has caused terrible water damage to my… Read more

ceiling that will cost thousands of dollars to rectify. I did not know that there was a crack in the render until the water damage became apparent, which means it had been there for quite some time, causing internal damage all through the walls without me knowing it was happening.

When I reached out for help, I was told the house was no longer under warranty by one week. This was clearly an issue that occurred within the warranty period, but as I was very bluntly told, it was my problem now, not theirs.

Please do not build with this company. They are really rude, really unhelpful, and clearly don't care about ensuring the sustainability of their workmanship.

Choose a better builder – I chose Scott Park Homes to build my home. Almost half of the ceiling has fallen prey to “fixation failure”. Every independent trades person I have spoken to has stated that approximately 60% of homes that require ceiling repairs were built by Scott Park Homes. When asking the company about this, it is blamed on the glue. “A faulty batch of glue”.… Read more

So they wipe their hands of all responsibility. It’s got nothing to do with the glue, and everything to do with poor workmanship. Disgraceful! This problem has only recently happened. There’s been other issues through the years, all related to poor workmanship. Due to the issue being poor workmanship, as determined by the insurance company and independent inspector, the repairs and all damage are not covered by insurance.

Ceiling collapsing – My ceiling collapsed due to poor workmanship according to our insurer but home group WA who has taken over Scott Park homes refuses to fix our ceiling. They have also blocked any future emails from me after responding to my concern initially. I’m just glad my 3 year old daughter was not hurt. Stay away from Scott Park group!! Show details

Bad never gave me notice for one year review – I built with Scott Parks home about one year and three months ago. I had forgotten that I was supposed to have a 12 months review. When I remembered a problem on my driveway and asked them if this could be fixed as there was a dent in the driveway and when it rains the water would flow out into my garage. I emailed Scott Park homes 101 they said… Read more

it has been a year and it's expired now. I never got notification of a 12 month review. Scott Parks states "however it remains the Homeowner’s responsibility to contact our office should they wish to have a 12 month inspection carried out. Unfortunately this warranty has now expired." I think this is crap they should of at least notified me close to 12 months. If they had notified me then I would have remembered the issues with my driveway. This company will wash their hands and run. I will never recommend or build with Scott Park homes 101 again (for all the first home owners).

Avoid Homegroup – We built with this company when they were Scott Park. I think they changed their name to escape their bad reputation, but the company is the same. For three years we have had guys coming back to patch up (but never really fix) terrible cracks in our walls and tiles, our outdoor area ceiling is falling down, mould in eves and ceilings leaks in the… Read more

Avoid Homegroup WA at all costs – Delay after delay after delay. Everyone on my street received their land titles the same week, by the time our slab had been poured (8 months after contracts signed) everyone on our street were already in their finished houses!! It has been 7 months now since slab down (15mths total)and still waiting for a completed house. Absolutely pathetic. Any… Read more

complaints made fall on deaf ears. We already want to move house given this terrible experience! If we could we would get out of the contract and get our own contractors to finish the house. We are looking at legal advice as well as making complaints with relevant industry regulators.

None of the discussions in regards to estate requirements were passed on from sales rep to drawing team. Drawing team had not read any of the estate requirements meaning multiple drafts. It took 5 months for prestart, 8 months for slab down and now 7 month build time which is still going. Calling our homegroup WA contact they would say so and so is booked in for work today but when we go to the house there is no one there and no further work completed. Sales rep at the very start of discussions was nice

Warning! Please please dont build with home group wa.....Escape if you can – These guys are very very very slow on their paperworks, i don't know how my construction will be as we haven't yet started. they always will be in whole day meetings. i had enough and i am planning to camp outside their display homes so that i could save and warn other innocent customers.

Their $50,000 or $55,000 inclusion is a joke, i have tried adding up all the inclusions but i hardly got up-to $30,000.

Finally, they will rip you off during pre-start if you upgrade anything (floor tiles, stone benchtop etc.) which is not standard.

Very slow, Hidden costs

I would never build with Homegroup again, if my pad wasn't poured I would forfeit my deposit and cha – Signed with home group 10 months ago, and have only had a slab on my block for the past month and a half. They are so slow that I had to apply for finance agin as there start date exceeded the banks time frame clause. I have been told twice that bricklayers are going to start on certain dates and go to my block to find that bricks still haven't… Read more

been delivered. When I call my construction consultant I'm just given the run around and told another date, which still didn't happen. it's very disappointing to not see anything happening as we were told we would be in the house by mid 2014.

From reading the posts I believe that home groups advertising campaign has been very successful, however they don't have the trades people to do the work for the amount of houses they have signed up.

This means that everyone that has a contract with them has to wait, and the list keeps getting bigger and bigger, and the unfortunate construction consultants have to try to appease people by giving them false hope as to when things will start happening with construction.

At the end of the day this equates to huge frustrations and expense to the owner as I'm sure most people that sign up to build a house are either selling there own house or trying to work out when to finish a rental contract or want to get the build finished so the can start earning money for the property as an investment. The longer a build takes the more out of pocket you are.

There are earlier posts that talk of picketing out the front of Homegroup, my suggestion is get everyone together that is having similar difficulties with Homegroup to write details of their problems down and pass copies of that out to potential customers at Homegroup display homes. Hopefully if home groups sales drop then they will start to look after the customers they already have. And try to get their reputation back to what it was mid 2013.

I am very disappointed so far with the way my house is going and the service that is being provided, I would not recommend Homegroup to anyone at the moment. Great service until construction started So slow, don't respond to phone calls

Useless – Took our money for the "pre-contract" drawings and completely stuffed them up. We requested one change to their standard plan, which they claimed was a common one they had done multiple times, yet the resulting house was an abomination. On top of that they drew it up backwards, and didn't even bother minimising the dead side of the block. Then refused to fix their mistakes. Nice Looking Display Homes Hopeless and Incompetent

Don't build with Homegroup WA...unless you don't mind a wait – This is the 3rd house we have built, so we understand the process well. Homegroup WA have been incredibly slow, inefficient and loathe to even want to build our home. We signed up in Sept 2012 and the slab went down in Sept 2013. No matter how often we have voiced our concern, it fell on deaf ears until we sent a formal letter of complaint to the… Read more

building manager in Aug 2013, 5 weeks after the building permit was issued. He told me that the file had been 'lost' in drafting for 3 months and that they would try to build it as 'quickly as a display home' from then. Our pad went down on 16th Sept and a bricklayer still hasn't begun 5 weeks later. When I spoke to them yesterday, they told me a bricklayer was available but a Director had rescheduled that team to build another home instead and we'd need to wait another 1.5 to 2 weeks. I bet the owners of the other home haven't had to wait as long as us to get their home built. In fairness to the staff through pre start & pre construction, they have been friendly and helpful in their roles. On paper, it looks like good value. Yet to see a finished product. If their service is anything to go by, I expect building issues.

Terrible – We were very happy with Scott Park in the stages leading up to construction, but this soon changed after construction began. Great sales and prestart assistants, nice designs. Terrible building supervisor, lack of communication, overall quality of workmanship.

Bad – typical of volume builders who take on too much work, and expect supervisors to manage so many homes none get the scrutiny they should during construction. by the claims by the company of the use of artisans and highly qualified trades people. The company dishonestly trades on consecutive customer awards that are not related to the current owners, in fact they go back to when Scott Park himself was with the company.

Some of the trades were excellent but most were very sub standard, with the use of apprentices for tradesmens work.

Basic Australain standards are not met leaving many items of sub standard quality.

Trades treated the property with disrespect and a couldnt care less attitude.

My experience has been one of frustration and great dissapointment for what could have been an exceptional home.

little better, because my experiences will eventually be passed on to hundreds (if not thousands) of people - very bad marketing. Designs are nice, salesperson was good, pre-start staff were also excellent. Nice specifications on the Grand range as well. Time - this builder is very slow! We signed up 12/9/09, and have yet to reach lockup stage. This is for a single story home pre-prepared block. The other major issues are rip-offs,quality and attitude after sign-up. They tried to charge me $5K for the earthworks, got quotes elsewhere all under $2K. Slab was too short, also missing a corner. They fixed the corner, but will do no more than plug the huge gap between the floor and the bottome of the front window with "a bit of angle". Did funny brickwork on the kitchen window NOT as per the addenda, then said "but that's the way we always do it" and wouldn't fix it. Used the wrong size lintel over the entry, didn't fix it until we pointed out we hadn't ordered an odd bit of metal sticking out into our lounge. As per previous posts, the building supervisor seems to be AWOL most of the time, and when you do catch up with him he is dismissive of all concerns. I have also emailed formal complaints and not received a single communication from management, even though I was told to expect a response. The great pity is that SOME of the trades have done lovely work - if they just got all of their contractors to actually read the plans and had a building supervisor and sales manager who actually gave a stuff they could do so much better.

brickies had put the door on backwards and had we not notice it would have caused major delays (wall being ripped down).
