Anyone considering buying a Sealy mattress - please read this review carefully. In December 2024 we purchased a top of the range Sealy Crown Jewel Imperial Luxury King mattress from David Jones in Melbourne for $19,750. That’s correct - a product valued at nearly $20,000. sound from the spring system. Sealy took the mattress to its factory for inspection and determined there had been a complete failure of the box spring system due to a manufacturing fault. Sealy refused to replace the mattress with a new one, but rather in line with its warranty terms and conditions, repaired it. The repair involved taking the mattress apart and replacing the entire box spring system. After returning it and within another 4 months, the exact same fault began to reappear. Sealy collected the mattress again for yet another inspection. When collecting the mattress Sealy representatives acknowledged the squeaking sound and fault and further acknowledged it was the mattress and nothing to do with the bed or its sprung slat base.

Following the factory inspection I received an email from Sealy advising the factory could not find a fault with the mattress and as a result there was nothing further they could do. They implied it could be an issue with the non-Sealy slats - despite this not being the case and as witnessed by its representatives. They advised there was noting else they could do and that I should take up the matter with David Jones.

Can you believe that a $20,000 mattress can not only fail after 3-4 months of use due to a manufacturing fault, but can then fail again and despite Sealy representatives acknowledging the fault on site, Sealy has now attempted to wipe its hands of the issue. This not only highlights poor product and manufacturing issues, but it highlights a dishonest company that does not care about its customers. I’m looking forward to David Jones resolving this issue as the seller, in the usual way David Jones goes about caring for its customers, but when it comes to Sealy as a company, we’ve had the most disgraceful experience. AVOID Sealy and its products at all costs.

Wouldn't buy another Sealy, let alone a Crown Jewel. slept on. Over 2-3 years, the sleep zones had become completely mushy and compressed and you could feel the internal springs putting pressure on your internal organs. We persevered with it, as it was an expensive purchase and mattress shopping is no-ones favourite pastime. However eventually sleeping on it became unbearable and extremely unrestful. It's now been relegated to the tip and replaced with a well known mattress in a box brand for about a third of the price. So far so good.

Waste of 10k would not recommend – We bought this from Myer 5 years ago, I started having back problems from it about a year ago. Sealy came out and re stuffed the mattress topper but it collapsed again within 6 months and the problems started again. For the money it's just not worth it, not even close. that with use, there can be up to 32mm gap from the original setting and still be within their specification. I had previously used Sealy beds for more than 10years and was very happy with it, but decided to eventually buy what I assumed would be a better and PREMIUM bed, but the Crown Jewel Medium bed turned out to be far below what a customer would expect from a premium product (unfortunately!) - uneven pressure points causing back pain! More $$$$ to resolve the issue??

After liaising with [Name Removed], [Name Removed] and [Name Removed] over past 5 months, and even paying extra to change the Comfort Adjustment to 'firm', and following Sealy instructions to do “regular rotation (once every 2 weeks for the first 3 months) after the adjustment, I am extremely disappointed that the uneven pressure points have left me wondering WHY this it is called " Posturepedic Crown Jewel?" - it certainly is not that in my opinion, I would caution that to consider very carefully before spending money on this one to start with and spending even more based upon Sealy customer support team! David Jones simply declined that they have any responsibility -even though I had purchased it from David Jones and refers to Sealy for all warranty or product related queries. It is now simply not worth it for me to be pursuing further with Sealy for this model, as according to Sealy mattress is within "THEIR" specification.

my husband does, so we compromised and went for the level 3 and it's simply perfect. PERFECT. I even started going to bed earlier to enjoy it! got progressively worse. So we recently contacted Sealy again as our warranty was soon to expire. Customer care were very helpful and arranged to pick up the mattress, replace the top layer, and return it the same day. It is just like new again! Worst investment ever! Completely conned by the shiny brochure and false promises of the sales person – Purchased the Sealy Elegance Luxury Plush King mattress with matching bases from David Jones in July 2019 for $10,5000! the mattress you get home. We expected some variations of comfort but not a completely ‘uncomfortable’ bed. Within days our mattress was beyond uncomfortable. We were not waking up ‘refreshed’ as the shiny brochure had advertised. I could fee the buttons that were sewn into the pillow top. The buttons could be felt even with a mattress protector onto. Pushing into my hips causing me pain each morning. One of the requirements of the mattress was that it had to support my hip given I had had hip surgery and needed a mattress that supports hip and the back area. Within days my husband and I were complaining that our backs and necks were hurting, each of us needing to see physiotherapists to alleviate pain.

Within weeks, after putting up with the pain, we called customer service requesting a review of our mattress. We were told to give it 3 months as it takes this amount of time for the body to adjust to the new mattress and for body indentions etc, we regularly rotated the mattress every two weeks and sleep in the centre of the mattress as recommended.

In Nov 2019 I again contacted customer service to request a review of our mattress. By this stage the buttons were unbearably uncomfortable and now the mattress was sagging and both of us were definitely not waking up refreshed and now in more pain than before.

What can only be described as ‘rude customer service’ we had two Sealy representations come out to review the mattress. Not one of our concerns were taken into account. Our mattress was carted away and returned at the end of the day in the same state as it left.

After reading these reviews, it is very clear the Crown Jewel is a lemon. An overpriced, uncomfortable, falsely advertised gimmick. This bed is not what it’s brochure purports to be “the signature of perfection”. I very much argue against this claim.

I will once again be contacting customer service. If this issue is not rectified I will be contacting VCAT and arguing at a complete refund.

bed but I travel a lot for work and soon realised whilst I was away the pain would go away within two days and returned immediately the next day I slept in that bed. I am fit and exercise regularly and weigh 76kgs and my wife is 56kgs so we are rather small For this to occur. Our previous bed was a sealy Which cost roughly $4500 and it lasted 5 years with zero issue or concerns we just impulse bout this as it was so fancy and felt like a cloud when new in the David Jones show room. I’d swap it in a heartbeat if given the choice. Please save your money and don’t be fooled that because it’s expensive and they sell it brilliantly that it’s best- it’s the direct opposite. I listened to the reviews when I was purchasing.

one. Well even he is now a plush mattress. Sore necks and backs have disappeared and we have both experienced some of the best undisturbed sleeps we’ve had in years. From start to finish the buying process was so easy. The sealy staff at Myer Toowoomba were extremely knowledgeable about the product and fantastically helpful without being pushy.

Love my Sealy crown jewel – I thought I had a problem with my new Crown Jewel bed, when it got lumpy and uncomfortable. After contacting Sealy, I was relieved how quickly they arranged for my mattress to be inspected. They told me that what I was describing was not normal – they took away my mattress and did a warranty repair - all on the same day. Now my bed is like new and is fabulously comfortable.
