dearer than 1Cover. I might be older but I’m not that dumb to part with that much folding stuff. It’s not as if my wife and I were going to do all the crazy stuff like hang gliding, parachuting or Bungi Jumping ( that would be hard to do in Bali ) like we used to when we were younging’s. All I wanted was a policy to mainly cover medical expenses just in case. So they lost my business and that’s sad in a way given they were so cheap last time. As Ned Kelly said on the gallows “Such is Life “.

Refused cover for pre existing medical condition but 2 other companies accepted, based on the same medical questions – About 13 years ago we took out a lifelong membership with Australian Seniors because we assumed they would be the best company to cater to older Australians who often have pre existing medical conditions. questions. Later he contacted 2 different insurers, was asked almost identical questions, and was offered coverage from both the other companies. To be on the safe side we had our cardiologist answer the questions from all 3 companies. For a company professing to specialise in insurance for older Australians this was more than disappointing; it’s also very disheartening to hear that refusal down the phone as you think it will be the end of your travelling life. We double checked with them but were absolutely refused coverage for the heart condition. If you have a pre existing medical issue shop around and don't assume you won’t get coverage if you’re refused as we were. In fact check out the Canstar ratings for travel insurance for seniors and hopefully you’ll be good to go.

Helpful but laborious and a mistake was made – I haven't traveled yet so can't comment on the claims process... hopefully I won't have to. I organised cover for 6 of us under 4 policies over the phone as I needed to discuss existing medical conditions I had to listen to the same disclaimer 4 times... surely there must be a better way. the insurance certificate by email and noted that my sisters date of birth had been incorrectly listed. When I tried to get it corrected I was told only she was able to do it and yet I set the policies up only 10 minutes earlier. Not sure how I can arrange a policy but not amend it????
The good news is that the person I dealt with was very helpful, was locally based and spoke English well enough that I could understand her with no difficulty.
This is the first time I have used the company and I felt the premiums were a bit more expensive than some other companies but the other companies wouldn't cover my mum (she's 76).
Better training needed for staff – It was very difficult to give a fair star rating to this review because the actual insurance is an excellent policy and should, get a 5 star rating. listen, and ask questions not just rave on from a pre written script. From the start of the quote she just kept TALKING, I couldn’t asks questions because she just kept TALKING. We got to medical declarations, I told her about a pre existing condition and went through the questions relating to that . She didnt ask - is there anything else ? She just started TALKING and I assume reading from a script. I finally got her to stop talking and said I had other things I needed to declare . She said - oh I didnt know that , well of course not because she didnt ASK she just kept TALKING. So, now she had to start a NEW quote because she could not go back to add in more pre existing medical conditions ! Honestly, if I had not been told how good this policy was I would have just hung up the phone and given up. I wanted to ask about car insurance as well , but no way was I going to even try to discuss car insurance with this lady.

Review – I thought the initial policy price was attractive but the loading for medical procedures going back 5 years was a bit steep. I also thought the time it took to complete the medical review was ridiculous, as it took 40 minutes and went back 5 years. Something unusual – I noticed that all those glowing reviews (hundreds of 4 or 5 stars) re the Seniors Insurance products were written by people who NEVER MADE A CLAIM-this is a statistical impossibility. Worthless because of COVID-19 – Policy purchased before outbreak but now worthless because of pandemic. Admittedly not something I thought about before (clearly should have, yes my fault) but would warn anyone searching for a policy to make sure that pandemic is covered. Apparently there are some out there if you take a policy before it is declared. Shows that travel insurance without pandemic coverage is useless, so for your own safety and peace of mind shop around! Difficult to set up – Travel insurance couldn't be completed finalised electronically. Advised to contact a consultant by phone, phoned & 45mins later consultant answered and then proceed to setup policy. Several days later had questions re. corona virus, had to wait 30mins to speak with consultant.
