Please do not go anywhere near these guys. We've worked with a lot of tradies over our entire house reno and have never dealt with anyone as deceitful and scammy as them. was laughed at and told lots of people are shocked by the price of plumbing, that it was a big business that needed to pay for Google ads so they needed to charge a premium (very bizarre). As someone who runs several businesses, it seemed quite strange to be mansplained how a business runs. He offered to wave the $50 call out fee, bringing it to $700.

He made it sound like it was a decent sized job, had to fix previous work etc. Reluctantly agreed to the cost, we signed, and then he proceeded to spend no more than 3 minutes turning the water off, recapping it (using a $3.25 part) and that was it.

I called their head office this morning (twice - the first time i was assured someone would call me back, they didnt so i had to chase them again). I asked for an itemised invoice as what i was provided on our invoice was one line item. They told me they do not provide this - i guess they just make it up as they go along. I was offered a $100 refund, which still feels like i am being overcharged especially considering they cant itemise what im being charged for. I said i felt i needed more off and they declined.

Plenty of other good tradies out there, stay away from these clown shoes.

misleading. The offshore call centre was the first indication that I was not dealing with a small local company. I agreed to pay their weekend callout fee on the assumption the work would be done on the first visit.

The plumber arrived promptly but without any replacement parts. He confirmed what needed to be done and gave me a quote for a return visit after the weekend.

I was shocked at the outrageously high price quoted. It boiled down to be more than $1,000/hr. When I respectfully queried the basis for the quote I was advised it was not based on time or parts - but rather a price book.

I paid the callout fee, which I didn't think was fair given the intent appears to have always been to visit to quote and then return on a second visit to do the actual repair. I declined the quote and subsequently sought a local plumber who did the work the following week for a fraction of the price quoted.

It disappoints me to think these large service companies (there are others) appear to prey on a combination of customer ignorance and/or a customer desire to get something fixed quickly and expediently at any cost.

Clearly, I wouldn't recommend Service Today unless you are happy to pay a (big) premium.

Very overpriced – Easily accessible outdoor tap replaced within 20 minutes but the fee was $336 and this included the senior’s discount. Exorbitant labour rate

Grossly inflated invoices, high pressure tactics, now deceptive and undisclosed advertising – I had an issue with a cracked drainpipe a year ago and unfortunately got these guys out to unblock and repair. boss” and could give me a once in a lifetime VIP deal at $17,000. Oldest trick in the book. I balked and repeatedly said I wanted a second quote but the guy wouldn’t initially take no for an answer, telling me he was already here and no one could beat them on price, he already had the truck and gear here, etc. Took a good 20 minutes to get him to leave.

Of course I got a second opinion. The quote came in at half the original price at $7.8k plus GST, 8.6k total. They said they didn’t like to badmouth competitors but for this particular one they’d make an exception and that they prey on unsuspecting customers.

Today I saw this once again firsthand. I was appalled to receive deceptive advertising purporting to be a handwritten recommendation letter from a neighbour that does not exist.

I note that another poster in QLD has already complained about and posted the same thing today as well, and that they have apparently denied being behind it. I’m in NSW. I’m curious as to who else would be doing mass letterbox drops nationwide on the same day for no one else’s benefit but their’s.

Not satisfied – My problem is tree roots in sewer. The plumber spent an hour and half but did not remove the roots. He stated would remove as part of $8,000 to $10,000 on lining 4 metres of pipes. (internet quotes circa $4,000 for the same work)

It is a Scam – I called this company to check my hot water system. The technician said the the whole system is faulty and it needs to be replaced. He gave me a quote for $15,084.69. This was absolutely ridiculous. I called Rennai hot water technician, who found the faulty valve and replaced it for only $200 plus the call fee. This certainly proves that "Service today" is a huge scam and should be avoided. Show details

Please get a 2nd quote – Leaking shower tap. Booked with service today. Guy came and spent 2 minutes taking tap off and diagnosing mixer cartridge needed replacing. Cost = $850. I nearly fainted. speak with the manager. The manager then waived the $360 "work" and asked "only" for the $49 call out. I then rang a local plumber who fixed for $265.00. It's no wonder people are weary of tradespeople with companies like this on the prowl.

Very dishonest, very unsafe, only came for call out fee – Very dishonest. Only came to take call out fee. It's very unsafe too. I would never ever use this service.

Service Today worry tomorrow – Trades boys were not friendly and lacked communication with the customer . They left the whole apartment building without hot water and then wanted a $480 call out fee to see if they missed something. Shocking experience – Shocking experience. The plumber did a no show. Thank god he didn’t turn up because he tried to rip me off. Service today quote was $1000 and plumber who did the job cost me only $280. Do not call them!!!

Overpriced – $750 for 2 valves to be replaced on a hot water system. No extra plumbing required just a straight swap of parts on the same length of pipe. than $200. No call out fee to be charged as I booked online. Even if a $200 fee was built in a $350 labour charge for less than one hours work is unacceptable. Appreciate the tradesperson skills and that this is reflected in the hourly rate and parts but charge was exorbitant. Also I used Google to search for a local plumber without a call out fee. My search found a local plumbing company but only after booking online was I made aware via a confirmation email from Service Today that my search had been redirected and this is the company that would be completing work Have requested a partial refund but no response from Service Today.

Excessive quote – Hi thnx for opportunity to provide feedback. Had a quote to move a front yard tap approx one metre for $1007.00 then altered to $850.00. Declined after paying $49 service fee. Professional and respectful – Required Plumber to unblock a drain and fix outdoor Hot Water Tank. Inspections carried out and quote given by Technician. Extremely satisfied with work carried out.
