Bad bad bad bad bad – It broke within a year. Looking online it seems to be the same problem for all. Lights turn on but it doesn’t heat up. It was okay the short time it lasted, but not worth spending the money I spent
Amazing. have had for 10 years! – It is the best straightener i have used. Iv had my silver bullet for over 10 years and its still in perfect working condition. The tempreture screen went out a while back however it still gives me the perfect curls, shine and smoothness. Coming from a curly fro hair! I bought the GHD thinking il try it out and give the silver bullet to mum. I… Read more
couldnt stand it. Gave it to mum she couldnt stand it and now looking to get a new one so i can give mine to mum. 10 years and still strong!
Perfect, can not live without it – This was the best hair straightener that I have ever owned. I had it for about 8 years. It stopped working about 7 months ago and I have struggled to find a replacement and I just cannot live without it. I am eager to purchase another, if any one out there can help me I would appreciate their help. Totally reliable,
Much better than ghd without a doubt!!! – I can't remember which model of the silver bullet I had but I got 2 years out of it before it stopped working. Today I bought a ghd because it was on special and I read a lot of good reviews about it well it's not a patch on my old silver bullet. I will start saving up for another one. In my opinion these are sooooo much better than ghd. Fantastic quick shining hair, impressive straightener ? Nothing but a little pricey.
Waste of money – Needed to take it back for repairs within weeks of purchasing and Took weeks to get it back. Does not compare to GHD. Overheats, does not leave hair silky and smooth like the ghd. Takes absolutely ages to get a reasonable job which doesn't last.. Always needing to redo unlike the ghd which works quick and keeps hair looking good for days Takes three times longer to straighten hair.. Outcome is a substandard outcome
Amazing – I've had mine over 8 years and its still going strong. The digital screen makes it easy to know when it's ready, and it's super fast too. It straightens my extremely curly hair with no problem and it doesn't end up frizzy like it would if done with a ceramic straightener. Digital screen, fast heat up, doesn't make hair frizzy, reliable Show reply
The best – i usually like the remington wet to dry but it broke yesterday so i went to price attack and bought a silver bullet with the titanium plates. I was looking at getting a ghd but i personally think that a $10 cheapo stytraight works better. they are [censored word removed] and arent worth the [censored word removed] there made out of let alone at… Read more · 1
least $200. i have have girlfriends that used to come borrow my remington coz their ghd is [censored word removed]. anyway just used the silver bullet, and its absolutely worth every cent.
Excellent – A great investment. I am totally happy with this product & cannot speak it up any higher. (I dropped mine this morning so I have to purchase a new one but I have had mine for about 3 years without any problems) This is one of the best things I have ever bought. I can set the heat to whatever so if I'm doing my childrens hair or my own it suits… Read more
all. Gone are the days of frizzy unsightly hair. It's slim line so it's easy to pack when going away or take with me to gym to touch my hair up after my workout.
Short life span – I read about the salon owner that said hers only lasted 18 months,so did mine but was only used twice a week. The first sign of it fading was it regularly switching its self off now its not working at all and making an electrical buzzing noise. At nearly $200.00 I would expect another couple of years of use. I wont be trying it again, too… Read more
dangerous. This straightner did provide a salon quality finish and I do believe that it gives the same result as a GHD. But I here the GHD last forever too. Im currently shopping around for a new one and will be purchasing a different brand. easy to use expensive
Bad – The lady at the store has just swaped it over for another one, but I would never purchase a silver bullet again. The digital temperature display lasted 2 weeks then after 3 months disappeared completely. In the beginning it works well This is the third time that the plate becomes detached from the straightener, this to me is very dangerous
Bad – do not buy it its great at 1st but will stop working and they are terrible with the warnetys' 2/5 it was a great hair straightner 4 the 1st 2 months ,did a great job on ,my thick wavy hair ,didny dry it out after 2 months it didnt work as well and after 4 months it just stopped working ,made a crackaling noise
Loved my SIilver Buller until it did the POP and STOP – I had my Silver bullet for about 6 years and only recently did it pop and stop. At which point I tried out the ghd straightener that everyone was raving about and my god it was so [censored word removed]. Didn't straighten my hair and left it feeling and looking YUCK! I miss my old silverbullet that made my hair look silky and beautiful. Trial… Read more · 2
and error I suppose guys. Why don't you ask the sales person that your quite torn between the two brands and you want to know if they can let you exchange if you don't like a particular one. :) hope that has helped guys.. Goodluck Quick heat up, left my hair looking gorgeous and feeling great.
Horrible! – My GHD of 5 years died. I went to purchase another GHD but was talked into purchasing the Silver Bullet instead by HW. They claimed that the new GHDs weren't the same anymore and that this was amazing. So I ended up buying the Silver Bullet! Nothing. It is horrible quality! I hated it from the word go. Firstly it's a lot more coarser than the GHD… Read more
on the hair (especially if you have fine hair) it also heats up to 230C but you can turn it down to 210, it still is too hot. I called up my very trustworthy hairdresser who said that the Keratin SB is extremely rough on the hair and can damage it - the plate itself isn't as smooth on the hair as the GHDs plate. I also found that it wouldn't curl my hair properly - I had to go over it 3 times, and even had the temp up to 230C which is too hot to begin with. I went back to HW and exchanged it for the trustworthy GHD! It was horrible. Do not buy! GHD might be pricey but it is worth every cent.

OK – Similar problems had by a friend who had the same brand straightner. We will not be buying this brand again! Heats up very quickly and straightens well. I have looked after this straightner very well and only use it once a week maximum, however while using it recently heard a 'popping' noise. It then turned off and I have not been able to turn it… Read more
back on since. Took it back to where I bought it, it was one month out of warrenty so they said they could not do anything for me but give me the manufacturer's number. Phoned manufacturer, not helpful at all, told me they can't help me because warrenty expired and to get it fixed somewhere else.
OK – When this one (my third one) breaks down I won't be buying this type again, but change to something that won't continuously break down on me. It's quite quick to heat up, generally within about ten seconds. It's very slim and compact, so I can easily take it anywhere with me. I was given my first one as a present, and after about six months (I… Read more
used it every day) it wouldn't even heat up. I took it back to hair house warehouse and they said that they'd never had a complaint about that brand of hair straightener, but they sent it up North to the factory to get it checked out. It turns out that there was a fault in it, so they replaced it with a new one, which also broke down within six months. it was sent back to the factory and I was sent a new one which I've had for a year; this one hasn't been too bad.
Terrible – not good....is faulty and can cause electrocution...who needs more reason than this to stop using it!! This is my secongd silver bullet which has been recalled and is faulty...do not buy silver bullet This straightener has been recalled..it is faulty and anyone using it shhould stop immediately and return, see product recall website for more info stopped working way quicker than it should have
OK – I have been happy with this straighter. I have it to be easy to use and quick. I am able to straighten my hair within 10 minutes. It can dry out your hair if you use it too often. I purchased this product after trialing it in the 'Shaver Shop' I was impressed with how quickly it heated up to 200 degrees. I like the slim design. I have had the… Read more
straighter since 2005. I have not had any of the problems other reviewers have had however I do agree over time it takes a little longer to heat up. Your hair needs to be completely dry.
Excellent – i've had this straightener for a few years now and it's still working great. compared to other straighteners, silver bullet extreme have temperature controls which i find is absolutely necessary. you can therefore set the temperature according to your hair type so you don't burn you hair. i wouldn't want to risk damaging my hair with other… Read more
straighteners that don't have this function. i've taken this straightener everywhere i travel and have nothing bad to say about it. it has a temperature control, slim and easy for travel. i don't dislike anything about it.
Good – I love my silver bullet extreme. I have reglued the plates several times but have now put it out to pasture (its not safe) and bought another straigtener.(My naturally thick curly hair is amazing once I have used this straightener. It is shiny, healthy and looks great. My hair stays staight all day long and is no longer frizzy and messy looking. I… Read more
never new a good hair day until I discovered the Silver Bullet. It heats up fast, stays hot and makes me feel great once I have used it. Both plates fell off about 12 months after I bought it.
Good – Great gadget, shame i gotta let it go! theres a newer version to replace it looks and works exactly same, you wouldnt know the difference at all! Like all other reviews, i think its the best straightener i've ever used. it takes a bit too long to get to max temp. and i think it needs auto power off when not in use after 20 mins. Also i canty… Read more
maintain the same temperature it continues to decrease in temp as i use it. i have alot of hair and need it to stay as hot as it possibly can.
Also. This straightener has been recalled.
If you check on the inside of the straightener there is model no: If it has : QO41236, you need to call 1800 251 215 and get them to send you a new one, once you have recieved it then send your old one back!
They are really good about it, the recall was due to electrocution / electric shock.
Discontinue use if you own this one. go to http://www.recalls.gov.au/view_recall_detail.php?Recall_ID_Auto=15149 and read the warnings!
Good – I originally bought one of these 4 years ago and during the last 2 years it wasn't working so well. I read here recently that my particular model number had been recalled so I have just been given a brand new one. This one works pretty much the same, but goes 20 degrees hotter. I have to say next time I purchase a hair straightner I will buy a GHD… Read more
as they do work better and leave your hair feeling smoother and with less effort. It works quite well on very curly hair Takes a while to heat up to maximum temperature
Excellent – I had my Silver Bullet Extreme for 2 1/2 years. Then it blew up. While researching on the internet I discovered it was under recall so contacted the manufacturer. I had no receipt by this stage. They replaced it no problem, it took 2 months because they were out of stock but a new one arrived in the mail no questions asked, just send back the old… Read more
one. I had no problems with it until it blew up, digital display worked, I loved the variable temperature which meant I could do my daughter's hair on a lower temperature and mine on a higher temperature. I thought 2 1/2 years wasn't too bad, I did get a free hairdryer when I bought it so thought I had my value out of it. To get it replaced with a brand new one of the newer Extreme 2 model was a bit of a bonus. Does a great job straightening my hair fast, heats up fast. Easy to use, love the variable temperature so we can do different types of hair. Because of this you can see when it's ready. I can put it down while sectioning my hair and it's back up to its top temperature when I pick it up again. The outside gets hotter than the GHD which I have now bought. Otherwise I loved it.

Terrible – for spending over $200 it should last for a lot longer than 19 months. Don't spend you money on this straighter Works well Has died after 19 months
OK – Not great value for the expense. I had mine for 2.5 years, but display went after 4 months and plates became lose after 12 months. Spend your money elsewhere!!! It did the job, hair was nice and straight, especially for the first few months. It seemed to slightly burn the very tips of my hair, making them frizz, and the digital display died after 4 months. As time went on, it seemed to take longer to heat, and to straighten.
Good – I have had this straightener for a about 2 years, and have found it amazing. I Have curly, Frizzy hair, and it does a wonderfull job of taming it! Heats up nice and quickly, still going strong 2 years on! Good with difficult to manage hair, straightens weel, good for taming frizz Have recently cut my hair short, and find it not so excellent for… Read more
getting in to the short hair near the bottom of my neck, much better suited to slightly longer hair. Also, when I compared to friends straighteners, it is not as good at curling, later found out that its design is not really meant for it, so not an excellent choice if you want flicks and curls.
OK – Not a bad straightener but I wouldn't buy another. Works well but 2 in 2 years isn't a good recommendation as to the quality of the product. Straightens thick hair well. Heats up reasonably quickly. The plates started lifting when it was just out of warranty. They swapped it and eight months later the cord broke. Quality of the straightener itself needs to be improved.
Terrible – There has been a recall on Silver Bullet Extreme - Silver Bullet Centurion and Platinum models (bearing approval number N20360) and the Extreme (bearing approval nos. Q04093 or Q041236 and including non ionic, ionic, wet to dry and titanium models). If you contact Dateline they will ask you to send your's back and they will send you a new one. Works well when working There is a recall on the product
Terrible – I bought this product as I thought that if I spent a lot of money it would mean it would last and make my hair straight and shiny. I was wrong I am now of of pocket $240 and have to go and purchase another straightner. dryed my hair out, no shine, I had it for 9 months and I went to use it one day and it started to beep at me and just stopped working.
Bad – great when it is working, but for the money i paid i would expect it to last a lot longer! heats fast, the temperature display is great with a button to change temp. it has stopped working after 2 yrs paid heaps for it and not happy.
Excellent – overall, i think that it is a great product and i recomend the silver bullet extreme to anyone, it even curls my hair fantastic!! :) i love the silver bullet extreme, it has gotten me out of alot of sticky situations with my frizzy hair the digital image disappeard after 2years of staightning my hair
Good – When working, the product is very good, and much better than it's cheaper equivalents, however, ours has been replaced 4 times within the warranty period of the first product! The key message is to make sure you purchase one from a reputable dealer/salon who will be around to take care of any warranty/repair claims. Hairhouse Warehouse is great -… Read more
they have replaced our units without any problems upon quick inspection and identification of any fault! In our experience this is a pretty good product which does the job very well WHEN IT IS WORKING. It heats up relatively quickly, maintains a desired temperature well and has an LCD display to show you the current temperature. We've gone through about 4 of these straightners in about less than one year.
Bad – Will not be buying this brand again! Too much trouble sending back to Sydney every 12-18 months for a replacement Heats up quickly, temp control I was given this straightener as a replacement for a faulty ceramic silver bullet. I have since been informed that some of the silver bullets are subject to a recall (check www.datelinecity.com -… Read more
something about the plates becoming lives to 240 volts). I have now been without a straightener for two weeks and will have to wait another two weeks for a replacement. Overall, not too impressed with the quality, definitely not happy with being provided with two faulty straighteners.
