This was a difficult process. We employed smartkits to supply and install our flyover. The initial part was straight forward. Organised for their builder to come out to measure for quote. arrived, builder checked and reordered some damage components- build delayed. I kept following up to find out where replacement materials and kept getting fobbed off. Finally found out that the contractor builder was no longer doing the work for smartkits and the owner of smartkits was now trying to fix delay. In September we got another builder from smartkits who was excellent, however it turned out that the previous builder measured the roof 100mm out. So we either delayed again or proceeded. We decided to proceed compromising post positioning but just had to get it done as we were over it by this stage. The job that has been completed is good quality and the builder that turned up was good. Smartkits were supposed to have all old materials removed from site, but I had to organise this myself because smartkits were having difficulties organising. In the end, yes, we had compromises but got there in the end. The product is 5 star. Process to get done 2 stars. Compromises 3 star. Hence, 4 stars.
Insulated panel carport looks amazing. Kit delivered in 2 weeks which was outstanding. All components there, simple plans and details to make the install relatively painless. Done over a weekend and the comments from neighbours is very worth it. Thanks team Show reply

The flyover roof kit arrived exactly as promised, with every part labeled, packed, and engineered to spec. Even my certifier commented on how well it was put together.
What really stood out was the after-sales service. I had a few questions during installation, I used their new AI bot at 4pm on a SUNDAY with questions and Mark personally followed up to make sure everything was on track. It’s rare to find that level of care after the sale is done.
The end result? A stunning patio that looks incredible, performs beautifully, and has already added value to my home. I’ve just placed an order for a second project and wouldn’t consider using anyone else. Highly recommend SmartKits to anyone who wants a stress-free, high-quality outcome.

The insulated fly over roof itself is amazing. It not only looks sleek and modern but also provides excellent protection from the elements. The insulation has made a noticeable difference in keeping the area underneath cooler during hot days and reducing noise from rain. It’s the perfect addition to our outdoor space and has completely transformed how we use it.
Delivery was fast and everything arrived in perfect condition. All the components were high quality, and the instructions were easy to follow. Even as someone without much building experience, I found the installation manageable thanks to help from friends and family and Smart Kits instructions.

mind. The T blade for the timber post was installed at the incorrect height and the guttering was installed horribly requiring the 1st call back. Then when the rains came we had 2 leaks in the roof from the installers not using olives on the roof screws, not even the old olives, just nothing, caught it early luckily and managed to get buckets and towels in the roof to prevent damage (2nd call back), now we are in winter and the winds have arrived and now have a flapping inner gutter causing bad vibrations against the fascia, my assumption is from the stress of rebending the gutter brackets to cover the job originally done on the guttering. Have contacted to advise to have this sorted and recieved no response as yet. After sales service with the initial issues werent bad, but the owner has a real chip on his shoulder and has tried to tell me on multiple occasions im the only one with these sort of problems. Pretty sure for starters if you arent using olives on screws i guarantee you... i aint the only one. Had i not taken action on the leak they would be fixing the damage caused there too. I should be easy to find on their system for a reply because apparently im the only one with issues. To anyone reading, if you are handy please dont let these guys touch your house.

Not for average DIY – We shopped around and had quotes for an 8.2 x 5.6 metre flyover insulated patio. Our first quote by Altec was $33,000 for a Colorbond patio installed. We then tried Stratco, and it came in at just over $14,000 for a non-Colorbond kit. Sales Service - 4 star "While the sales service was good, unfortunately, we were never asked if we planned to install lights and fans. This might have been because the salesperson was new"
Ordering - 5 star "Was simple and painless"
Delivery - 5 star "The delivery guys were super helpful"
Product - 5 star "Everything was wrapped and packed"
Engineering—3.5 star "I told them several times we were using existing saddles for front posts and not in the ground; our engineering is still showing inground posts."
Installation Advice - 5 star "Mick was constructive when I called him"
Information/Installation Pack - 2 star "IMO it lacks professionalism, and needs a lot of work for DIYer"
Installation Videos - 1 star "They are fundamental and don't show the detail required to do a whole patio installation"
Fixings Information - 1 star "We received bags of screws and rivets; they should have information on what they are for on the bags. We ended up having to purchase extra bits and pieces because they didn't have enough or we used the wrong stuff in the wrong place"
Would we recommend purchasing from Smartkits? That would depend on your DIY skills. If you're a bit handy and can figure things out yourself, then yes, we would highly recommend the Smartkits product, and it would be a no if you're not handy.

Don’t let them take your money – Few things to note: - I originally ordered and payed 50% deposit for the kit roof in November, I was told it will be ready early March. It was partially delivered mid April after I payed the remainder. The rest of the materials didn’t arrive until late May. - After the delivery was first delivered , I told them that there was materials missing.… Read more
I was assured they would be delivered in two days, so I hired a scissor lift for the long weekend I had booked off work to build it. The $1000 hire was wasted because the delivery never arrived, they said they would not help pay for that as it is my responsibility to check materials.
- I was told I would receive detailed plans, which I did not. Even after asking multiple times. The plans I did receive was just the post and roof location, which was wrong anyway.
- The “ instructions and engineering” I received was just a generic pdf, which wasn’t relevant to most of the structure.
- The whole structure was in the end wrong, as they had not accounted for the overhangs that I wanted at the front of the roof, that was discussed over the phone. They denied any of this being mentioned.
- Attached is a photo showing the flimsy looking fascia brackets they sent, which will be visible from the front of my house.
- Finally, after building the main frame and roof, I was ready to install the barge cap flashing at the front. But, they did not fit properly due to one of the main brackets that the rafters bolt to as the lip sticks out too far. I called them asking to get a new one made for it and they told me that, “yeah it doesn’t look too good, but that’s just how it is”.
Please do not do business with this company. They are knuckleheads who only seem to care before they take your money.

Very Happy – Purchased a single carport kit and upgraded it to cyclone proof due to it being located in an unprotected area that are exposed to very high winds. Customer service were very good. Terrible instructions – Instructions were scattered across 12 different pdfs, most of the information was not related to my build and many of the pieces were called different names throughout. I emailed multiple times with poor responses and no help. I ended up winging most of the build and I'm hoping it's right. Would not recommend anyone trying to build this themselves.

We spoke with Mark and sent him some photos of our house and he did up a design that showed us what it would look like. We ended up going with a 10m x 4m patio. We couldn't fault Mark for his patience in answering all our questions.
The kit arrived in about 3 weeks in two deliveries, and we were given plans and instructions. The steel arrives in long lengths, so my husband went off to Bunnings and got some good metal cutting discs to cut everything to size which was easy. Over the course of a few weeks (with some help from the brother-in-law) we had our new patio. We love our outdoor space, and feel a real sense of pride that we were able to accomplish this ourselves.

This review site is generally a bastion for whingers and whiners so I would take any negative reviews with a grain of salt. It looks like everyone who is whining here never actually bought or built a kit. I formed a good friendship with the crew and I know what they do to go above and beyond for their clients so if you have a problem speak to them, have a crack at building a kit. I saved 20k. I mean seriously how is that not a 10/10 solution.
Fantastic product and service – I ordered the Carport kit online through the website and it couldn't have been easier. The kit arrived within 14 days. Was very heavily packaged and had everything I needed to do the build. The carport looks great, was straightforward to build and looks very neat. Poor information, not disclosing hidden fees, no refunds – We paid engineering deposit after discussing all design requirements. Price was agreed but designer did not disclose cost of site plan ( additional $500) we didn't agree as this was not quoted in the price. No refund offered.
