It’s the best!

Wouldn’t trade for anything else. It’s a minimalistic coffee machine, easy to understand and best coffee maker. Show details

Not great

Does espresso shot nicely but if you want good milk, look elsewhere.
The milk wand attachment is so wide that it's impossible to froth milk properly. It lets in too much air, giving you lukewarm, frothy milk every time. I really wanted to love this (since the machine itself looks so pretty!) But sadly it just isn't it.

Good for 5 months then coffee started tasting metallic

Purchased this machine in November 2022 and it was initially great. Producing beautiful tasting coffee.
Now February 2023 and the coffee tastes metallic.
I have descaled the machine, Cleaned everything, changed the coarseness of the grind (we have the SMEG coffee grinder), tried a variety of high quality beans. Nothing changes - it just tastes metallic and bitter. Show details

Great tasting coffee!

I read a bunch of negative reviews on here after purchasing the black smeg and so I didn't have high expectations. But so far I haven't had any issues with it. The beans don't burn, the coffee is the perfect temp, and the whole process was super easy. Absolutely loving it. Show details

Very disappointed

We bought this machine purely because we loved the look, the coffee machine ,toaster and kettle all together. The fact it took up little space on the bennch .How wrong we were. We should of spent time researching.
Im sorry smeg as I love your products but the only thing I like about the machine is the look . The milk wand is terrible , it never gets hot enough.,the button process to even get the frothed to work . The extraction process I find not strong enough. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
Perhaps the fault is mine ,although 3 other people have used it and find it the same, so instead I hand over my $ to the local coffee shop each day . But use your own judgement and research before you buy . Show details

Milk frother no good

Whilst this Smeg machine makes excellent coffee, the milk frother seems to have too much pressure. It bubbles up the milk before it even has a chance to heat the milk, a bit like a milkshake. I've watched videos on how to use the milk wand, which is quite different to other milk frothers. Using the technique shown in the video helped a bit, but still too bubbly. I like my milk to have a more velvety texture and for this price you would expect to have a decent milk frother. Show details

Whats the lifespan of a Blue Smeg?

I have been very happy with my blue machine and the coffee it produces. I am the only coffee drinker in the house so it only gets used each morning. Lately I,ve found the filter baskets blocking up so changed to the spare single one, the pump also seems to be not pumping as well as it used to. Is there anything I can do to make it flow fast again.? Show details

I love it

I use it multiple times everyday and never have a problem with it. it is consistent and easy to use.
i have had it for just over 2 years now and will get another one when it eventually dies. I am a ex barista and its very good quality for a home coffee system. my only problem is telling the coffee machine to descale can be quite confusing and always have to get a youtube video up. Show details

Consistently great coffee

I've read reviews about how badly this works. I've also had bad results, but I've addressed them. When properly used, this machine delivers excellent espresso coffee. In my experience better than most cafes. Why? Simple. While trying to make 1000 coffees for the rush, cafe machines overheat their parts, get sloppy with the milk temperature and burn the coffee. I've not once burnt my coffee with this machine. Get quality beans roasted to your taste, grind them to the right granularity, press them the right amount and with consistent pressure, and you will get superior espresso from this machine. Do it not, and you'll give it 1 star as the 'coffe' s crap'. Show details

Excellent machine at this price point

If you are expecting this machine to produce coffee like your local Barista makes for you, then your expectations are too high. This is an entry level home machine that if you know what you are doing will make a nice brew. We have been using the ESE PODs recently for a delightful mess free environmentally friendly brew and haven't been disappointed. Remember its about the beans and the grind - no matter how much you spend if you dont get this right even the most expensive machine wont produce a good brew. Easy to use and keep clean, stylish and reliable - a good entry level system for the price you cant go wrong. Show details

Terrible machine

Terrible machine, doesn’t work well. We regularly descale and clean but the coffee only drips out to about 2ml and then stops. The coffee is watery. Frothed is rubbish. Tried different coffee but still the same results. Very disappointing Show details

Reliable, consistent and excellent value for money

As a coffee snob who couldn’t afford professional grade machine at home - this has been an excellent purchase for us. We have used it for over 5 years and have never had an issue with it. Not one. Very consistent (if you have a good grinder of course) and the steam wand works just as well as any other machine we’ve used - we are no milk experts and so don’t fuss with if much.
On the less important side - it’s nice and lean so take up minimal space on the counter. Show details

Waste of money

Terrible coffee machine. It’s all plastic and so light it slides around the bench. The steam arm doesn’t texture milk it just puts bubbles in it (i was a barista for 15 years so I know what I’m talking about). No amount of programming makes a decent crema.
Upon research discovered smaller applications by smeg are made in china and you can tell.
The group head is not normal size so can’t use a regular tampar. The one they provide is, shock horror, plastic. Scoop on one end it’s too light weight to tamp effectively.
Annoyed this company would their brand on something so rubbish.
The only good points is it’s small and quiet. Other than that it’s a toy.
Seriously the worst appliance I have ever bought Show details

My machine has just started to play up. Only a small amount of water comes through either the single or double shot . I have descaled, cleaned the baskets and changed the grind on coffee beans . At a loss as to the problem Show details

Hi my coffee shots are running two short, whether I press the double or single cup. This has been happening for a few days no matter what I try. We just went away for a week and turned the machine off and have come home to the same problem. How do we get it to pour longer shots again? They are short even with no coffee head in. Thanks

From time to time, the arm with coffee filter comes off due to vibration, spilling coffee everywhere. It doesn’t appear to be related to the force I use to twist it into position as, being aware of this issue, I apply the same pressure every time. It doesn’t happen always and is difficult to see what causes it. And even I try to hold the arm in place, if it starts to vibrate and coming off, it will eventually do so no matter if I try to hold it. I have wasted too much good coffee because of this issue and also an expensive cup that was broken by the arm falling off. Any ideas or help what I should do?

I cannot get a decent strength using the double shot filter. I use finely ground organic Aldi coffee tamped down which has previously produced a strong brew using a stove top. What can I do to incease coffee strength using the Smeg machine with the heat reset? Do I need a richer coffee brand?
