I've purchased a Smeg FS61X in August as I'm redoing my kitchen...I've only just tried the oven last night (22/10/23) and it does not work at all. Has anyone experience this problem with this model? so frustrating.

******2 MONTHS OLD SMEG FS61X ONLY HALF WORKING - FREESTANDING GAS STOVE******

Hi I bought a SMEG FS61X back in August and never tried the oven part of it until last night (re-doing my kitchen) and the oven part of the stove is NOT working at all. I've selected the temp eg 180 degrees and selected ECO & push in to light the oven but nothing happens. You normally hear the gas coming but I hear nothing. There's an orange LED in between those 2 knobs and it does not even lit up. NOTE: The Oven part was never tried to before until last night (22/10/23) but looks like it's not going to light up at all. This is a GAS (all gas) free standing gas stove. It was a display stove also.

Top part of the stove is working ok but 1 burner came with the wrong switch (3 switches are same size and this faulty one is much smaller than the other 3). I've taken the small faulty knob out and looks like the mechanical part where you put in the switch is done the wrong way.

The stove is only 2 months old but only half of it is working. It's upsetting that you pay money for these but in return you have half of it NOT working. Can someone pls help??

We purchased the above oven in 2015 and within 3-4 years the wok burner's piezzo ignition failed to light. We cleaned it but to no avail. We then used a lighter to get it going whenever we needed the larger flame. That only lasted for a short while as it went off when you released the knob and we have not used that burner since. How much is it to buy a piezzo ignition and will it stay alight as at present it doesn't.

Smeg
Smeg   DM

Dear Allan R, The ignition system is electronic, not piezo. If the flame goes out, this is due to the flame failure device. Please get in touch with our service team on 02 8667 4888 and they will be able to assist you. Regards Smeg

Hi Rhonda P., The vapour clean function should be used regularly to maintain your oven clean. If you don't clean it regularly, we recommend you use an oven cleaner such as this one: external link  Regards Smeg

Hi I am staying with a friend who has this stove. It is 5 or 6 years old but she told me for many years she cannot cook in the oven as everything burns. She is in her 80's so I tried to bake a cake. Within 20 minutes it was black. The oven just keeps heating up. Even on the lowest temperature setting. I now bake by turning the stove on and off at intervals. The yellow temperature light does not go out or flash. Even when I turn the oven down. It does not recognise that the set temperature has been reached. Turning both dials off does not stop the oven. I have to turn the timer on then off and the light will go out. The fan will continue which is correct. The Off or stop cook button does not work.

Is it the shut off thermostat (I believe there are two thermostats one to heat and one to stop ) that is faulty or is it the timer/motherboard?

My temperature and oven function decals have completely disappeared. No harsh abrasive cleaners have been used only detergent or a baking soda paste. Are replacements available.

Smeg

Dear Steve, Thanks for your enquiry. Please be aware that baking soda paste is abrasive and would have contributed to the removed decals. Could you please email service@smeg.com.au with your name, address and contact number and mark it to the attention of Lesley? Once she has this information, she will be in direct contact with you. Regards Smeg

Smeg FS61XNG8 purchased in Perth HN around 8 years ago. Has had repeated problems with TIMER replaced 3 times as display failed. Now last week display fine but oven will not heat even though turned on and fan running. Some local appliance tech came out to look and tested elements (good) and then took out TIMER and showed us one terminal showed burn marks - said it was TIMER needed replacing. Charged $246 for this pearl of wisdom and we now have his quote $888 to fix!! Seriously?? Need some urgent response from SMEG - are there any decent service agents in Perth who are not a total rip off? Have read that the timer needs to have 2 buttons pressed in order to be able to activate the oven - we did have a power off recently just before oven issues - where can we find the button info?? Also setting the time on the timer does not seem to work as the manual says.

Hi . I purchased a 60cm freestanding SMEG Oven just under 3 yrs ago. I want to remove the oven door for cleaning. 10.2 in the manual says to insert a "pintle" into the hole in the hinge. Could not find anything that looked like the "pintle" in the picture so I tried to improvise with a number if pin-like things whch all seemed to stop the door being lifted up to form a 30 degree angle. Could you explain what a pintle is, whether it should have been included and where i might purchase some? Thanks Mary

Hi we have the FS61XNG - has worked fine despite being 11 years old. However suddenly the oven is not cooking to the heat temp and it’s not dry heat anymore - everything seems to steam. Do you know what would be causing this? Thank you!

What is the simplest explanation of how to use the oven manually without a timer? The instructions are not clear on this aspect and I don’t want to always use a timer when cooking in the oven.

Hi Emma G., Thanks for your enquiry. Once the clock is set, you can use the oven manually without setting a timer. Regards Smeg

I have been baking cakes for over 40 years and when I finally got a new kitchen I chose the smeg FS61XNG8 free standing electric oven and gas cooktop. Love the gas cooktop but I have been trying to bake cakes for the past year and have not had any success. Have read the manual over & over also went online for tips but trial and error hasn't worked either, so terribly disappointed, so is the family!
