Hi I've got a smeg it's 15 years old (induction cooktop). It's gone into lock screen when I turn it on. I'm able to override it but each time i turn it on it automatically goes into lock screen. Can you tell me what to do? is it worth getting fixed? will it just die one day? can I keep using it by over-riding the lock screen?

I have the same E4 error, was told to get a technician out, he was here for 10 minutes, attempted a reset which I had done already - which failed, then get told to pay $165 for a call out free... then told its $800 to repair the cook top! For a 'higher end' product that cost QUITE a lot of money at the time of purchase, approx. 5 years I've had this appliance for it to fail. If you're well aware the E4 error means it needs to be replaced, why do I need to pay a service agent $165 if it has to be replaced! REALLY unhappy about this and its poor customer service. I don't know if I should just fork out the $800 to fix the small induction hub or just buy another brand and replace the whole cooktop, including not considering Smeg for any future appliances. Really disappointing.

I have a SIHP21005 induction cook top that is showing E4 error code on two hobs. Is there anything I can do to rectify this. We have been quoted almost $2000 to repair it. The stove is in our holiday home so all up it has only been used a few dozen times as we cook mostly on our bbq in our alfresco area. Very dissappointed with all of our smeg appliances. Our oven door exploded after 2 years, the stove is showing error codes and our microwave has all stopped working. The house is only 8 years old. Will never buy this brand again.

I have an induction cooktop, the outer ring of the front left element won’t turn off. This has been an on going problem, usually solved by turning off at the power point, except this no longer works. How do I fix this?

I’ve had this cooktop for 6 years. The control panel flashes randomly and clicks each night and morning. Why is this happening? We have had people come out about 4 times. Another time we had to have one of the elements replaced after 2 years and now that side still won’t work properly with all pans. Paid over $2.5k back then so ....

Mine was doing that as well. Get onto Smeg they were very helpful. And whats to lose.

Our SMEG induction cooktop was displaying an E4 message so I followed the instructions in the manual to re-configure. The left front which was the one showing E4 message failed to re-configure. Cooktop is only 3-4 years old and cost quite a penny. Can it be fixed without paying out a huge amount for repair. I expect a lot longer life from such an expensive item.

Steve, Sorry I can't help you. I have replied to Smeg the same as they have requested you to do and to date have not received a response. My opinion is the same as yours an expensive high end product that does not work as it is suppose to. Not good enough. I am considering taking this to consumer affairs if something is not done. Two attempted contacts with the manufacturer with no reasonable outcome !

Steve
Steve

Yes Don I would expect such an expensive cooktop to last a lotlonger. We bought a Smeg Pyrolytic oven and Microwave at the same time and had to replace the microwave in a short time because it built up condensation in the door glass. I will definately go to consumer affairs as I expect these things to last a lot longer.

Can you advise if it’s worthwhile repairing my induction cooktop (SIHP 463s) as the touch control panel has stopped working and I cannot power on.

I have also had my SMEG oven repaired three times in a short amount of time and reluctant to fix my induction cooktop based on my previous experience with my oven.

Hi, I spilled hot water on my Smeg Induction cooktop and it now does not work. I turned it off at the wall and turned it back on but it still does not work (there are no lights at all). If I turn it off at the wall again, it lights up momentarily with the number 8 and :88: Is there any way that I can reset it without having to call a service person? Rosemary

Hello,

We have a smell induction cooktop which was installed in the new build house we purchased 3 years ago. A small chip was made to the edge of the cooktop which resulted in a hairline crack across the cooktop. The stovetop still worked but now the original crack has deepened and another crack has developed

where another chip has occurred. Could you please advise what my next steps should be. Would this constitute normal wear and tear? The inability of the unit to chip so badly along the side edge is quite disappointing. No other problems with our other Smeg appliances. Thank you.

When using both the Smeg oven and Smeg cooktop, the cooktop shuts down when both get hot.

Is there any resolution for this problem? Note: the cooktop sits directly above the oven.
