or calls, only had a small correction not achieved even with a re evaluation plan it’s started making a huge gap in my front teeth but not fixing the actual problem and the Aligners are never the right fit I’ve had 3d ones made and the re evaluation ones through imprint still don’t fit teeth properly they snap and break I’ve kept most pairs as proof , contract shoved in face no help when I have tried to resolve and I’m stuck paying for a crap service that hasn’t managed to do what was promised but out of the 30 day return dues to being told to Persist with the plan

Want to waste almost $3000 and deal with THE WORST customer service?! THEN SIGN UP WITH SMILE DIRECT! – So i went in for my free scan in Box Hill Chemist Warehouse- its a dingy little room at the back, got greeted and sat down. be fine. Fast forward to the scan of my teeth, they show you the results on a screen and thats when i was baffled and VERY stupidly signed up. Even though i should have realised i do NOT need bottom aligners at all- I just wanted my top 4 front teeth straighter. (They dont do this by the way- they wont only give you a set of aligners for top or lower teeth) And my bottom teeth are completely straight. They make you sign a document on an ipad without outlining any monetary values or providing you a copy or even emailing you anything. That was the first strike. I emailed 2-3 days later to confirm the amount that was to be debited from my account after paying $300 upfront. I never got a reply after a week of waiting, so i had to call them. Their call centre is based in America FYI. not in Australia. Theres a lot of lag which makes for a very annoying phone call of 2 people overlapping eachother. After FINALLY getting the details over the phone, i said ok lets see how this will all go. About 7 weeks later i get the box in the mail. Read instructions thoroughly and put on my top and bottom aligners. After about 2 hours of wearing them i could feel my tongue being cut on the sides so i used the emery board they provide you with to shave it down. I kept doing this until it didnt hurt my tongue over 3-4 days, except i then realised that the aligner was now in my gumline and hurting even more! I called them up and they told me this was a manufacturing error as the aligners were too flared and apologised and told me to just not wear the bottom ones until my mouth is healed. I got some betadine mouth wash and it took about 6 days to fully heal. After that i went to my second aligners.. guess what those ones did? They moved the molar tooth that had the root canal within the first 2 days so much, that i got a tooth root abscess. I had to visit and pay my normal dentist for this to be rectified. And 2 weeks of antibiotics to temporarily resolve it. Now we are in stage 3 lockdown due to the coronavirus and i cannot visit my dentist to fix the tooth. I spoke to soo many different representatives that no one knew what was happening. Emails were being replied to about 10 days later. I wanted this fixed. I proposed that they give me half my money back and that i just stick to my top aligners. They told me i need to have my doctor to reassess this. They said this would be done in 3-5 business days. It is now day 10 with no reply- snooty representatives telling me that theyre doing all they can to hurry this process up. The deal was that their dentist was to create me a new plan just for my upper teeth and then send me new aligners. Im already half way through my current plan just using my top aligners. My actual dentist saw the plan and was in awe. He said i totally did NOT need the bottom aligners and that he would gladly put this in writing. He actually told me i have grounds for suing them for medical negligence. This has all been so stressful. Im just thankful for my own dentist taking care of me with those antibiotics and check up phone calls.
This company is the worst. Not to mention every single new aligner you put on will cut into your gums in new spots all the time. Theres no consistency. The emery board they give you is crap and youll need one for nails in the long run. Ive now become a pro at moulding them properly as it has recessed my gumline is several spots.
Thanks for the trauma Smile Direct. My advice is to go to an actual dentist and get aligners. You’ll have immediate support and nothing like this will happen to you.
Now i have to think about my next step in the process.

Don't need the American sales pitch – I feel that the product can sell itself in Australia. The consultation felt like a pre scripted sales pitch. I don't think that the sales process is culturally appropriate for Australia. Let the product sell itself, focus on establishing a relationship with the customer rather than a one way pitch about their smile. It is a turn off really. I… Read more · 1
actually had to ask the sales team to just talk to me normally (the process didn't allow them to tell me they were dental nurses - there you go, that's what I should have been told, that builds rapport and confidence).
I also think that the process does not take private health insurance claims in Australia into account. To make a health insurance claim, customers need to provide a service provider code to the insurance provider. None of your collateral provides this code, because of your distributed system or registered practitioners. I had to get one from a chat with another online sales consultant.
You are nearly there guys, but not quite on the ball for how to do business in Australia.

No nightly treatment offered in Aus. yet only USA. Would of solved most complaints others have in USA.
I did expect to see final result after 3D scan was taken. Not approved on the spot but within 72hrs via Email - 48hrs and waiting. Does it come in Email after visit?
During scan - I spotted yellow at teeth base during scan. Person taking 3D scan is not a qualified dentist who had no further information. The instrument was really tight at the back for me but I am rather small to. After researching the scan reviled I had some possible periodontitis, yellow at gum line some maybe just tartar. Need a deep clean!
After reading other reviews, and all having the same tone. I tend to think that many are from staff members or promoters. Its only been in Aus for 5 months and these reviews are only for Australian customers.
October 8th 2019 Update: Be aware and do your research
I have crowded bottom teeth. Smile direct club approved and sent 3D smile and we’re very keen to sign me up, with mails coming daily.
Visiting real dentists there advice after I got my 3D impressions from smile direct club. Dentist 1. $55 I needed IPR (interproximal reduction) during treatment. My Smile direct club plan does not include IPR measurements. So dentists won’t do it for me, cause they want all your money to use there own invisalign product starting from $5500 and up! But no IPR rules out smile direct.
Dentist 2. $75 1x front tooth removal and treatment would take no less than “2 years”, had to be with invisalign clear aligners because put buttons on teeth, otherwise teeth won’t move. My Smile direct plan was “7 months” and no buttons. (I’ve heard many reviews saying there teeth didn’t reach the desired result & didn’t not go to plan.)
Dentist 3. Free. Xrays where needed otherwise he couldn’t see how much bone was available to move teeth that much.
I addressed my concerns with smile direct, how the 3D images moved my jaw line a lot, the risk is teeth falling out and I no longer had a closed smile.
(Going down another path cosmetic veneers eg. “snap on smile” “trusmile” even if you get lucky and they fit you (according to dentists impressions are difficult and are often done incorrectly. Pot luck if you a layman gets it right. Plus these do not last long. In fact one person bought the most expensive brand “brighterimagelab” and they broke whilst she filmed the arrival and fitting. She cried, so much time and money lost. Looking at “Inman aligners” now - but need a dentist. (cheap, quicker, removable)
Can’t trust anyone. Everything I research has bad reviews with not “one” of these companies honouring their guarantees or written promises on there websites!!!
I dare say the top teeth may of worked out with direct smile club.

I was given all the answers to the questions I asked, however once this part of the appointment was completed the consultant proceeded to notify me that “if you don’t sign today your case file will be closed and you will need to phone America to request them to reopen it” To this I proceeded to leave with nothing less than frustrated that I had wasted over an hour of travel time to be given the hard sell speech instead of the professional consultation that I had expected. I will now seek advise from an orthodontist regarding standard braces, as there is nothing but professional service and products offered there and definitely “no hard sell”techniques I am nothing short of disappointed in my experience received by this company

rectified with a new scan and aligners made and sent out. Now they fit perfectly and with not long left on my plan to go my teeth have never looked better.
I was very skeptical about whether they will work at first and am now very confident in getting the outcome I wanted (perfectly straight teeth). I do recommend them. I will be posting a video soon of the progress
