As another reviewer has experienced, I've now had two windows suddenly shatter/explode, about a year and a bit apart. fault (see topic on nickel sulfide inclusions) and being out of warranty, Southern Star just suggest you contact a glazier and want to have nothing to do with it. Also they don't want to reply and tell me where the glass was manufactured. I've got a whole house of this glass so hate to think how much more these failures could cost me. Furthermore, I'll just suggest that if you're looking to go through installing new windows, chat to a reputable glazier and get their recommendations on Window companies and where the glass is sourced from.

Cheap and Nasty products, door closing on an angle is “normal” – Worst customer service. according to them.. yet every other brand the doors close square and straight. a door not closing straight is normal?? are you for real. their customer service reps are rude and abrupt. they have absolutely no customer service skills. 4 service visits to fix the sliding door not closing straight and after the 4th visit they say its “normal” and to take it up with the builder.. what a joke. they now blocked my email address from contacting them as i was trying to get a booking date for them to come back and fix an issue with a glass panel where there is a white residue stuck behind the glass and the inner framing that i was promised would be resolved the last service visit, the 3 guys who attended all said “it requires the glass to be taken out and frame cleaned and “we arent doing that” they like to palm everything off and say “contact your builder”

would not recommend. anyone researching new windows do yourself a favour and go with a better company. you wont regret it

Abusive service team – Very horrible service team, just had them abuse my wife over a booking that was supposed to be booked in tomorrow, now has to be changed 1st of June. phone then found out my wife was right. So they are liars too. Managing director needs to be fired. How they can be so incompetent it’s beyond me. If we had a choice in our build we would have never gone with them in the first place.

Spare parts – Robert from Edinburgh went above and beyond to help me finding the spare part for our window. I would recommend the company to family and friends. Excellent after sale service !!!! Show reply

Exceptional Customer Service – I have had to organize some servicing for our window and had the pleasure to be looked after by Frances. Great follow up customer service – We had an issue with one of our windows which allowed water in but only when rain hit at certain angle. It was a difficult one to identify problem but Southern Star Windows went above and beyond to identify problem and fix. Wobbly doors in new home – Our builder have used southern star for doors and windows and they are wobbly and the builder states thats normal. Previous home we built about 10 years ago they are far better than this doors and we have movd into this new home about a month ago.

Look great but are low quality – We installed 4 panel double glazed awning windows, but found the frames leak water inside. (along the middle horizontal rail) Had a rep out several times who, did try a few things, but the problem was never resolved. Two of the panels are now fogged (I suspect due to moisture between the panels). Windows now out of warrantee, but will never use this company again.

FAULTY WINDOWS INSTALLED – Purchased new unit, expecting everything to work, after having my windows cleaned found out that one wouldn't open. Worst products ever and no follow up – I left a 1 star review in December after stating that if you need double glazed windows and powder coated frames to last longer than 10 years then find another company. I provided photos and received a reply that the writer would look into the matter and respond. Have heard nothing back.

Poor design quality – Here are my objective findings of a recently installed sliding stacker door: the panels should independently operate, however, when opening the first panel, it automatically drags the second panel. will take years to wear down - this is simply unacceptable. After bench-marking with other door companies, other available stacker doors do not operate in this manner. The company has refused a refund.

Absolutely brilliant customer service – I had a small issue with the external handle to my three panel sliding door breaking. After talking to two people at Southern Cross I was able to get instructions written by technician, factory instruction sheet and verbal from a technician when I picked the part up. Office staff were also really friendly and helpful. I couldn’t ask for more. Came home and quickly fitted replacement part. Sooooo impressed. Well done guys and thank you. Mike Show reply

Excellent Service and got what I needed – I broke the plastic window slider handle on my bathroom window and went to Southern Star Windows and Doors (Hallam office in Victoria) hoping to purchase a replacement handle. I was served by a very helpful member of staff who supplied the replacement handle I needed plus a couple of spares in case this happened on some of my other sliding windows. Door repair - Waited a year for a service and the door could not be fixed – I paid $500.50 for my glass sliding door to be serviced in May 2021, due to COVID and other scheduling issues (on their side) the service did not occur until early March 2022. The repair guys were great, but after hours of being here the door was no better, they confirmed they fixed they attempted did not work and they were unable to fix it. I… Read more

said I would follow up with management to retrieve compensation of the $550 I paid in May 2021.

I contacted their head office, they said they would talk to management in regards to the compensation and get back to me.

After 4 follow ups from my side and nothing in return from them, I am writing this review for other Customers awareness.

FYI - I got the door fixed just last week by a wonderful company SlideEasy (Website Removed) and they charged me $360. So if they service your area, please use them!

Horrible Service – We have had leaking issues in our window for almost a year now and they have not fixed it yet. Our builder has told us that they cannot do anything with it as the windows were done by Southern Star. If there is a zero or negative rating, that is what Southern Star deserves.
