Peter Finocchio - great customer service!
My husband and I are really happy with our first home built by Sterling. Peter offered insightful and helpful advice. He discussed practical options and it was evident that he was treating it as if it were his own home. He also has a wide contact base and was able to recommend other trades to us to help us complete our home post-handover. He was always available and went out of his way to support us. Thanks!

Building a house during a pandemic was an audacious task and at times it seemed like it couldn't be done. If it wasn't for Peter Finnocchio's optimism and problem solving I don't think we would have gotten over the line. But now, here we are standing in our completed home. At times, things took longer than I wanted them to - but given the unprecedented times, I am happy that we had the patience to see the project through. We are very happy with the final product and happy that we chose to go with Sterling.

I had the pleasure of working with Sterling Homes on the construction of my new home and I could not be happier with the experience. From start to finish, their team went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our planned house was brought to life.
Not only was the building process seamless and efficient, but the customer service was exceptional. Every member of the Sterling Homes team was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and always available to answer any questions or concerns we had. They were truly invested in making our home building experience a positive one. Add to that the trying circumstances of a build during a pandemic and we couldn't be more impressed with their service and quality of product.
10 star service
30 yrs in the industry said to me, my consultant knew the building industry, and being with the same company said reliability. Flawless and easy to deal with, Sterling Homes really do build the best homes in SA, after all they have build most of them, it’s SA best kept secret.
Peter Finochio was amazing , a true professional, so much so I’m going to build more homes with Sterling. Great service.

Use another builder -no stars!!
How about this for downright sneaky?
So I had my final inspection yesterday. All good. Was actually very happy with the outcome. Despite the delays, the mistakes, oh the mistakes, the poor workmanship ( fixed eventually), the mismanagement, the poor, no, the disgraceful customer service and the downright aggravation of building through a pandemic. I knew as soon as I got home there would be a request for the final payment. And despite everything I was still happy to pay it on all accounts.
True to form there it was minutes after my inspectio

Over 14 months ago. Apparently a rock breaker was needed and as a result an extra $3500 worth of concrete. Totally nearly $9k. How is that an add on 14 months later without even so much as a discussion.Terrible
First of all, always do not thrust them because they try to deceive you. very cunning.
Do not sign anything without checking with your solicitor or lawyer. Serious very fine prints.
They say free solar, battery and charger. But no, not free, they say it is promotion. when it is promotion you have it 5 years later. Until that time you keep paying electricity, even for solar you use on your roof.
Until you sign the contract , they treat you very well. Once you sign it , no respect.
no plan , no end date, when they want they finish your house. Ve
Made our dream home come true
Our Salesperson Mr. Peter Finocchio from Sterling homes is the best, he guided and assisted us with all aspects of preconstruction and he also helped us to get finance when everyone said no... he is our lifesaver and without Mr. Finocchio we would never be able to build our dream home.

This is our second home built through Sterling and once again we are very happy. The house ran smoothly from start to finish, and this time I had a better understanding of what we wanted for our forever home. With the help of Bronwyn in selections we were able to create a home that we love.
All the trades were excellent, and considering building during a world epidemic affecting people and material supply, they were able to keep the build moving well. Having lived in the house for a year now I can confirm that maintenance was minimal and completed promptly and professionally.
Thank you to all the team.

Happy with our Sterling Home
Having recently been given the keys to our new first build home on 9/12/22 and looking back on the past months, we are very happy with the finished product's high quality level. The slab was laid on 22/2/22 and construction time was longer due to the Covid situation. We received informative replies to email queries sent by ourselves which was appreciated. Special mentions: Pina (our customer service go to person) always friendly and helpful; also senior salesman Peter Finocchio who signed us up, answered our very many phone calls throughout the process, suggested ideas/options and who still goes out of his way to assist us now after handover ... you are a legend! We would recommend Sterling Homes.

We built our first family home with Sterling Homes. From sales to the build John Lea was fantastic, answered any and every question we had promptly. Once paperwork was complete our build started almost instantly and flowed nicely from start to finish and 6 months later it we were in our brand new family home. If we were to build again we would definitely build through Sterling Homes with John Lea for our sales consultant.

We found the process relatively easy and stress free. They have always kept me in the loop with where my build was up to, what the next steps of the process was, and informed me of what was required from myself at any given stage. I would highly recommend Sterling Homes to anyone looking to build a home and only have positive experiences to speak of from my build with Sterling Homes. The home was well managed from start to finish, the build seemed to move from start to finish without any delays and we experienced no issues during construction that could not be overcome to my satisfaction.

Nice house....but frustrating
Choose Sterling and moved in July 2021.
1. No communication whatsoever. You have to call / email them in every instance.
2. Sloppy workmanship in some places. We paid for 3 coats of paint & we know for a fact that this hasn't happened (if your coating 3 times, how can the same place be missed 3 times)? In some places, it looks like a 4 year old has done the painting. Here's a tip for those considering building - only get one coat of paint and then get a painter to come in and do it properly. Extra hassle but you wont regret it. Intern
Would highly recommend Sterling and particularly John
I have just moved into my first home built by sterling homes. John was a pleasure to work with! He always made sure I was happy and looked after in all aspects. He was always willing to take my call and meet my requirements and needs for my dream home. John went above and beyond and if I ever build again he will be my first point of contact. My home turned out lovely and exactly as I envisioned. Would highly recommend sterling and particularly John

Hi guys, we built with Sterling 3 years ago, moved in 2 years ago. The water pressure in our ensuite shower is virtually nothing but pressure in the main bathroom shower is great. Im guessing its a head or handle flow problem. Would Sterling cover this issue since the house is only 3 years old or do i have to call a plumber and cover the cost of the fix myself?
Sorry, I don’t really know. Maybe try Sterling and see what they say?
Hi did anyone built a home with Stirling homes in Gympie? , and what was your experience?
Did you end up building with them? We are considering them for our build too.
Hi we end up building with them biggest regret in our life . They under quote you and also sweet talk you to hide their lies, they told us between 6 &8 weeks before they start building it been 12 weeks since we settled our land and they stil say waiting on council approval to me that is a lot off poo
I wil never build with them again even if they pay me to and neither recommend them
I'm sorry to say we engaged Stirling Homes Queensland to build our home and it has also been a nightmare. They promote that it's Stirling with an "I" as obviously the other Sterling Homes in Adelaide seems to get a lot of bad reviews but they both sound about the same. Sweet talk and cheap price at the front end and nothing but lies and incompetence once you are signed up and they have a hefty deposit and you have nothing much to show for it. I wish we had never heard of them. How they continue to do business is because people like me didn't look into them properly. A mistake I will never make again and probably the best advice I can give a potential owner is do your research- check the QBCC website, google them, ask for referrals which are not by staff members with an alternate surname, and go on to sites like this and ask others about their experience. If I'd done those things I would have run a mile! I think product review needs to create a seperate listing for Stirling with an 'I' (for Incompetence) - so people can share their experience and not get caught out like I did.
Thank you for your replies. Unfortunately I can't find a single builder who doesn't have a complaint (or a few) against them. We've contracted with Stirling now but there's only a small amount of room for cost changes so we won't have any nasty surprises. I've noticed another couple we know are building with them at the moment and seem to be a bit frustrated at how long it seems to take to get things done so I'm going to make sure I keep on top of it. I asked for a call back on Wednesday and never received one so I've started a "build diary" in case a pattern starts to form I can jump on it straight away. We've just been through months of hell from the bank so I have no tolerance for mucking around and time wasting now. Fingers crossed our build goes relatively smoothly though they say one of the most stressful things you will do in life is build a house so I'm not holding out for any miracles hahaha.
What can be done about the apparent fraud being committed by sterling homes. There appears a lot of the same type of complaints appearing on a regular basis.
...... Finding rock on site despite no indication on soil reports, this is interesting given that in many cases they have established the blocks and filled the block?
...... Need for more cable to meter box and hole, This is an obvious rort when they set the block and house position on block and why does it seem the same lengths are appearing in all cases?
Does anyone else find these types of variances odd?
Yes that sounds like sterling homes to me and glad I am not alone.
I believe that is how they make their money.
At first the house and land build price is good better than other builders but I feel when all the extras are added to your account it brings the build price up on par with other builders and maybe even slightly higher.
After all my estate was completely developed by sterling yes they brought the fill they planned the house positions they planned it all.
They will tell you Actium developments isn't part of sterling homes but if you ring the developers office who would believe the receptionist at Sterling homes answered your call.
Just an update, Sterling where asking for extra cable above their 10 m allowance, measured from pit to house, 4.8m ground to box 2m , allow .5 m down and .5m up for below ground component. That totals 7.8m well less than the 10m allowance, could this be classed as an attempt to obtain extra money by false pretences?
Hello Everyone, I applied to work for Sterling Homes as a sales consultant. Whilst I have not heard back from them yet, I did have concerns about most of the comments here that were all similar to each other, as in the negative comments about people's experiences. Whilst I can understand the frustration of most of the comments on this site and can relate to all of them as I have built myself (not with Sterling Homes though). On the flip side of most of these comments, I did realize there are only 43 comments/complaints about Sterling Homes in this forum. Most of them were over a 4-5 year period. I feel terrible for all the people that had a bad experience Sterling Homes as it should not be this way when building a home. But you have to ask yourself as I have done after reading all the comments, this is a company that builds 800 plus homes per year. Maybe I will not hear back from them as most of you have said LOL (said with tongue in cheek). However, if I do, I hope I can turn things around for the better. One thing is true though, a building company can be let down or even destroyed if it is only as good as it's tradesmen. Cheers
I’m looking for someone that has built the HASTINGS through sterling homes willing to share photos with me thank u
People need to be realistic when building a new home. The advertised price of any home very rarely includes adequate footings/ council fire risk and energy requirements. This is the second home I have built with Sterling homes and so far so good. My first home had a few issues however everything was resolved and a great home was built. The home I am currently building is proceeding ahead of schedule and I am very happy with the quality of works. I have needed to contact Sterling on a few occasions and continue to find that they are very responsive and act on concerns quickly. I am a very fussy person and cannot fault the service from my sales consultant Peter to my construction manager Rob. I look forward to moving into my new home a month sooner than expected.
