I purchased a RE119 3 years ago. It sat for about 12 months not used. Since that time I have used it to clean the house etc. About 18 months ago the pressure would cut out. By waiting a few minutes the pressure would build up and it would go for only a few more minutes, before the pressure cut out. I tried it on several different tap connections and different house hose connections, all resulting in the same problem. I've taken it to Stihl where I purchased it in NZ to be told it is a water pressure problem. I have read numerous reviews on this web site where the same issue has been identified both in Aust and NZ. It would appear we have all been given the same answer. Water pressure problem. What a load of garbage. Clearly it is either a manufacturing or part fault. Why don't Stihl just come clean and address the problem? Stihl is letting itself down and I will not recommend buying Stihl again. And I will be telling others. A shame as Stihl did have a very, very good reputation.

Stihl RE119 keeps cutting out and at times it does not seem to be on. It is like the motor don't kick in, utterly frustrating. How do I fix that?

Get rid of the pressure washer and buy one from autobarn.

Hi, I have a Stihl 119 pressure washer that has developed a problem, where the water inlet feed breaks free from the retaining clip which retains it into the pump housing. Why is this happening? Regards Chris

Get rid of the pressure cleaner. Buy one from from Autobarn spare parts retailer. Still don't carry many spare parts.

My Stihl 119 pressure washer keeps cutting. Why?

My RE119 has been back to the dealer repeatedly since new . Electronic pressure switch at first not cutting in then cutting in and out repeatedly (pulsing). Has never worked properly and Stihl advised they 'could not address technical aspects'. I live in regional vic and use pumped tank water, not mains. Any suggestions

It could be that the pressure from your tank is not high enough and causing the pressure switch to play up like it has. I think if you could increase the pressure from your tank may do the trick.

thanks. The pressure is the same as the house pressure (same pump) and our house pressure is fine.

Hi, I purchased a Stihi 109 and have been having problems with the male hose fitting flying out of the gun when the water and power is turned on. I have taken it to the dealer and they fixed it but it has happened again. Looks Ike a design fault in the gun. Any suggestions on how to fix.

Ok; about 3 years ago i purchase a Stihl re 119 pressure washer , it was the middle priced unit ( $399 Au ) and was purchased from the local stihl agent i Mildura. Worked fine from day one and looked after our 3 cars and caravan. Of late all that has gone wrong was a little "O" ring on the end of high pressure hose where it connects into the wand. I noticed that on the last time that the washer was used that the high pressure hose had developed a pinhole leak in the hose. The hose is a braided hose and to have this happen only after 3 years was a bit of a shock, but not as bad as on checking with my local Stihl agent was told the price of a replacement hose would be $170.00. Nearly 50% of the cost of what i bought the pressure washer for. NOT HAPPY JAN is a understatement. You can not phone Stihl Australia and they only have a website. I have E-mailed them about the hose to see if there is anything that they can help me with in regards to the cost , the first time i got a response in a couple of hours as they wanted the serial number and i responded with the number the same day. NO RESPONSE from Stihl what so ever after that and i even re E-mailed them a couple of days later as l have not heard from them at all. IF i was to buy a replacement High pressure washer and after the treatment that i have had with Stihl it would be the last on my list.

I have found out that OK the pressure washer is 3 + years old but has seen light use but the hose has started to show signs of wear, as the high pressure hose has in sum places has the braide showing. But 3 years old and a replacement cost is so high. This washer was purchased to replace a 17 year old GMC pressure washer that is still going strong ( was given to my son in law ) AND with the original hose, and cost around $100.00 at the time.

Purchased in August 2016 at Stihl Dealer for $399.00.

Stephen, I had exactly the same issue and response from Shihl. I cannot believe Stihl don't resolve this issue. To anyone reading this, DON'T BUY A STIHL RE 109.

I am curious how this RE 119 goes removing weeds coming up through pavers and bitumen. That is the main reason am looking to buy a pressure washer. I have weeds coming up through the pavers and cracks in my bitumen driveway. So my big main question is whether the pressure on this RE 119 is powerful enough to do a good job removing these weeds completely?

Hi Yes, there’s a lot of pressure and you’ll quickly remove weeds from cracks in paving. Be careful of nearby foliage because it does a good job of pruning!

Sounds good. Thank you for answering my question.

I think I would be using poison on the weeds in the cracks, the high pressure washer could damage the bitumen

For some reason I missed your response. Turns out you were correct. The pressure from the RE119 high pressure washer certainly gets rid of weeds. But the pressure gradually caused the cracks in the bitumen to widen over time to allow more weeds to build up. Problem solved by removal of bitumen and replacement with concrete. The RE119 still going very strong and largely used for cleaning where it does an excellent job in quick time. Have resorted to Roundup on the weeds in the pavers as this prevents them coming back quickly. All that water germinates pretty much any weed seeds underneath the pavers to promote weed growth. I use Roundup twice per year whereas I was using the power washer maybe 4-5 times.

For those who purchased 2017/2018, does it still have the power tripping off issue as highlighted in some of the reviews?

Is the Stihl re 119 self priming , as i have low water pressure on the mains?

Hi Chris,

My unit seems to work fine as soon as you press the trigger, but it is connected to domestic mains pressure. Not sure how it would go with lower supply pressure.

$399.00 is the recommended retail price, however stiehl outlets are independent owned so just phone around and ask for the best price. Bought mine at a local supplier for $360.00 including the patio attachment after 3 phone calls.
