Great vacuum I've had 5 yrs! Must clean regularly – I use this vacuum weekly on both (various) carpet /rugs and hard flooring. It performs admirably. It has never overheated or stopped working. I am methodical in emptying and washing all parts after use as the filters and barrel pick up very fine dust. Without this the vacuum would fail. This is the point of a bag less vacuum. You don't have… Read more

the environmental waste of bags and the extra cost of purchase incurred. However, the machine doesn't self clean!!! It rolls well. and only tips if you don't line it up sensibly whilst using. Sort of like driving a car if you don't take a corner well! The only problem I have encountered is the electrical cord retraction mechanism is engaged in a slow movement as soon as I put the cord out. I have solved this by placing a peg up close to the vacuum for the duration of vacuuming and then pressing the retract button the cord disappears with ease. For a very cheap vacuum I'd give it a big thumbs up. TEMPO appear to be the company contracted to supply Aldi vacuum filters and parts. It is a bit disconcerting that you don't appear to be able to order online or see the filter parts. I contacted them by email and they were very responsive but asked that I order over the phone. There is a warning in small red print at the end of the email about scammers possibly contacting and not to respond. Perhaps they have encountered problems? Anyway the filters seemed reasonable in price - no different to other filter prices - approx $20. I am ordering the filters or perhaps only filter tomorrow. So I can't give feedback on that. So the filters have lasted 5 years too! Overall I'd give it a 5 out of 5 for it's innings and performance.

The vacuum works well – The vacuum cleaner does a reasonable job, but no support from Aldi or Tempo on replacement parts like filters. Contacted both with no luck. Tempo lists all the brands except theirs and Aldi even ignored my query. Show details

Great suction! Works perfectly since years. Read this for cleaning advise! – It's the perfect vacuum cleaner, the best I ever had. Light, small, great suction - the lot! Bought it nearly 3.5 years ago. Yes, I just read all the other comments below about people complaining about bad suction after a while and somebody even buying (with difficulty) a new filter. I never bought new filter for it. But frankly: I expected… Read more

already since years that there would be people having exactly the problem detailed below.

The reason is quite easy: Dust blocks these various filters in there and this reduces suction.

All you need to do, is clean those filters.

You'll probably think: I do! - But no, you do it wrong...:

This is how to clean the filters: With an air-compressor!!!

Blow the dust out of those filters thoroughly with an air-gun (on an air-compressor).

3 filters: The one in the drum, the one under the lid under the drum and the one in the left wheel (turn anti-clockwise) - the hepa filter.

The first two filters I clean every time with the air-gun, the HEPA only about once a year.

Also, obviously check, if your suction-hose in not blocked and the tracts in the vacuum cleaner.

Every now and then you could also clean the sponge in the filter under the drum under running water, but dry it in the sun, before using it again.

Also very important: Do not loose any of the seal-rings! Especially the seal ring on the inside of the top lid comes off very easily - obviously, if you loose the ring, you loose the suction...

Well, Aldi did not write in the manual, that you will need an air-compressor - but you do...

I could not live without one anyway.

old ones are perfect, new version is a waist of money – I got one of the original models, sadly they don't make them like that anymore. purchased mine in 2012. its still going strong in 2017. when the suction is getting bad, I soak the filters over night and its back to perfect again. its also recommended to give them a shake every time you empty the cylinder. inside. i have floor boards in the living areas and carpets in bedrooms. it does get clogged up in the hose with hair if there is too much but if done regularly, its not an issue. a beater bar on the head would also help get the hair out of the carpet but I make do.

I have a spare vacuum in the shed that died this year (2017) and I purchased the new version of this vacuum but alas, its awful. the filters need cleaning after every use, not just a dust, they need a soak in water. I cant get the car fully clean without the filters filling and needing emptying. the suction is similar as the original but it doesn't last. I wish it would hurry up and die altogether so I can get something different. and by the sounds of the reviews, it wont be long...

Why would they change their product when it was perfect to start with?

Bargain priced vacuum that actually sucks, in a good way – Waited for a month or two and saw a bargain Bagless worth a 2nd look. The Aldi store had a pallet of these Easy Home Bagless 2000w beauties. I read and looked and stood there undecided. I asked a store rep, about returns on this model. None that she knew of, and her two year old machine is still going well. Done, and purchased there and then.… Read more

Unpacked and read all the picture manuals and warranty info, scanned them and listed dates/serial details for future reference. Every page even has the support phone number visible.

I found the Manual & Quick Start Guide very informative and opened the various filter and barrel components to learn, test and ensure I could reassemble it easily. No dramas there. All the attachments were included, and easily attached. I even tried my older 'special' attachments that I will never see new again, and they fit also. A quality chromed metal extending tube is easy to use, as is the duel operation floor brush(hard/soft floor). The crevice device & fold out brush works but appears cheap. I placed them all in plastic again, in the box and in the roof as I will use my old faves for now. The hose handle has a 'vacuum power' valve as do most machines and is worth approx 30 % more or less suction.

The 5m (better or equal to avg in length) power cord extends easily, and the yellow safety stop tag is easy to see. The rewind is good to start with, but needed a little guidance for the last 0.5 meter. It is quite compact which is an absolute requirement for us, only taking the space of an average backpack.

The power lever is adjustable via a rotating dial on the handle, which had me worried it was a dud until I found it and upped the wattage to full tote. Impressive difference. The operational noise is there, as expected, and at full 200W power with hose end blocked, it is loud but not unbearable.

Test run on hard floor, no issues, and the felt floor protector functions well, and allows for easy glide. The swivel head and hose handle angle and length is good, was great into corners and under chairs, as expected. Onto the carpet, and a toe flick swapped the head over, and again, no dramas. One to two passes on our average sandy and fluffy mats and carpets had the looking good. If anything, the suction can be too good and a foot hold on the loose mats is required.

Remove the head and the hose is long enough to reach the ceiling, the fans and light fittings, so I was impressed there also. It is not light, at 6.8kg, and stands up on its end to give max hose reach and all is ok.

Now, the cleaning part. it collected so much so quickly, waiting a month to purchase a new vacuum was a mistake. The barrel was ok, 3.5 lit and still less the half full. But the filters, chocka block and needing a good wash, which is excellent. Washable filters are a must to make these economical in time and dollars. The machine has 3 filters, vortex cone and barrel, all cleanable, but the filters will require replacement when worn out or un-washable.

I expect to now use the vacuum once a week, and clean it only every 2-3 weeks. This is up to each individual situation, but I am very happy with that.

Plus to make it all worthwhile, this machine is on $49.99, with a 3 year warranty. I am logical, technical, and heard to please. I pay for quality and reliability, as well as serviceability and running costs. Names mean little, and to a point all these 'features' are going to be tested fairly over next three years, or until it dies a valiant death.

It has only been out of the cupboard twice for approx 45 minutes in total, has functioned exactly as described and so far I am quite impressed. My expectations and comparisons are with previous equipment, including $1000 Electrolux to Wet n Dry and $89 cheapies over last 20 years.

Take 2. 6 years on, still going strong. Used weekly for approx 15min plus the occasional emergency clean up. I simply can not fathom these machines costing hundreds and some over a thousand dollars. Ridiculous!

And why hasn’t it been recalled like the Aldi Stick vacuum????

Great suction, but head falls off every three strokes – Okay on floor boards, has good suction and beat my clapped out old dyson however as soon as I try to vacuum carpet, the head repeatedly falls off. It doesn't "click" on, just pushes on and no matter how hard I push it on, it falls off soon after. I spend half my time vacuuming bending over to push the head back on. Very annoying. Also quite poorly put together with sponges for filters, feels very cheap but it was cheap so.. Show details

lasts for a couple of years if you are lucky – They go ok, I have had two, the first lasted about 4 years, the second only 18months. They just stop suddenly when they get too hot. If you leave them for a few hours they'll go again, no use if you have a house, maybe ok for a small flat. I have to change the filters every 4 weeks (my old Dyson lasted 6 months before the filter needed cleaning). Going back to Dyson. Show details

Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner – I have had this vacuum cleaner cleaner for over a year now and still love it. I must admit, it doesn't glide over the floor when pulling it but it's been fine. The suck starts to get bad after awhile of using and I have to do a full clean of it (including washing the sponge etc in the filter) and after that it runs well again. Good vacuum but not great – I really liked this when we first got it but less so as time has gone along. First up - it's NOT cyclonic like a Dyson. OK power but weak body – I was quite happy with this when I first used it but the "joy" wore off as I got used to it. Its not really cyclonic - it is just a big filter with a motor behind it and as the dust builds up it loses power so its best to empty it well before the full mark on the body. The dust bin is not all that strong and doesn't seal all that well. Its a "good enough" vacuum for $99 but not great  Show details
