2nd machine in 6 years and collar has failed on both SS and red 7000 model too – The coffee is brilliant but as my first machine only lasted 4 years and the repair would have been a few hundred dollars to replace seals and collar, decided to replace with a new machine. Collar started getting sticky a few months back. Now just over 2 years old and this collar has broken and I cant get the handle in. Really upset as service… Read more
here on the coast takes 4 weeks and is ridiculously expensive, will Sunbeam back up its products and replace this collar? No one should have to spend this kind of money if they are going to put such cheap parts in them, this is widely complained about. come on Sunbeam.
It has lasted me years with daily use – Had this 10 plus years and with daily use it is finally starting to show its age. I have replaced the group head collar myself once in this time and regularly replaced the group head seal. If you do a little maintenance these machines give you hassle free daily coffee for years. Why write a review now you may ask. As stated my red demon of a… Read more
machine is not sealing as it once did and the prospect of replacing the group head collar again which was a lot of fiddly youtubed inspired work, i have been looking at replacing it. So off to the good guys to look at the em7000 and em7100 to see which i would choose and was surprised at the quality of these new machines. Although more compact and a sleeker looking, everything seemed like it would break in a year or two. So i went and bought a brand new Em6910 in grey as the red is no longer available and a new em0480 grinder. Set it up to test it works for warranty this morning and was impressed with the slight modifications this later model has. It has a broader mouth for the drip tray and a redesign tray float with a stainless steel front. This will make a difference as these 2 things were my only gripe about my current model. So if you are in the market for a mid priced espresso machine that outperforms much higher priced models grab one of these as they are heavily discounted and being run out. So back in the box for my new machine until little red goes to god. Best of luck in your search and hope this helps in some way.
average quality but reasonably relaible – I have had my EM6910 for 10 years now and will be replacing it shortly as it is worn out after making 1-2 cups per day every single day. like so may others my first machine leaked onto my kitchen bench as soon as i unpacked and turned it on. Machine 2 went for about 3 months before doing the same thing. Had it repaired under warranty and it has… Read more
been ok since. about 3 years ago the water level sensor failed, and i replaced a group head seal due to normal wear.
Just out of warranty and exploded – Purchased at DJs in March 2015. Today it exploded (May 2016) with electrical sparks flying everywhere for about 10 seconds. If I had been using it at the time I feel I would have been electrocuted. I purchased this machine because I had had an earlier model that was fantastic and had lasted several years. Today's episode has been so distressing I will never purchase another Sunbeam product.
Part of the family – What a machine. Once you know how to use it and get the grind, tamp correct it makes cafe quality coffees. Had it for 7 years in that time have I have replaced collar twice,, seal a few times, unblocked drainage hose, cleared a blocked pipe that stopped pressure gauge working. Tip: get the pressure onto the red zone for quality slow cafe extraction Show reply
Great Coffee – Had the machine for 7 years. Difficult to get a perfect cuppa consistently but good when you hit it. I needed to replace the basket collar inside the machine. Thaught I'd have a go myself. What a major undertaking! Both Sunbeam and the supplier of parts (also repair agent) were extremely blunt and unhelpful regarding procedure. Neither would give… Read more
me any information AT ALL regarding this highly complicated procedure. Not even so I could make judgements on how to proceed.
It would have been much appreciated to be informed that it was difficult and to recommend getting a qualified person to install it. ($150) Sunbeam just sent instructions on changing the seal. Useless. I really feel like I was left in the lurch.Very unhappy with the customer service.
Love it – Having read a few negative reviews, it appears a few were because no water came through. I can confirm when new, or haven't used for a while, you need to go through one or two cycles (ie making a coffee) and then the water flows. And don't pack down the coffee too much - just a bit. Otherwise, have never had an issue and makes excellent coffee… Read more
(depends on the brand of coffee bean!). Oh it is slightly loud and would possibly wake people if still asleep. Owner 3 years and still making great coffee. Simple, great coffee, 2 pumps Loud
