Not a bad little unit and has gone the distance! – Been using this mixer at our cafe every day or 2nd day for the last 5 years. We mix batter, scone dough, brownie mix and other stuff like that in it. Worked with out fault up until today. Took it all apart and found small pinion gear had broken and chipped the larger spur gear . To my amazement i found the 2 gears available as spare parts online!… Read more
$60 AUD for both. Have ordered them and will be fixing it back up. The rest of it is still going well. After taking it apart i have to say they are solid and well constructed unit. Could they have made the gearbox better? maybe, but every gearbox needs a weak link so you don't destroy the motor.
Absolutely not impressed – So let me be upfront here, I purchases this Mixer back in 2013, and I know it was then because I lived in a place for that year and it was then that I purchased it. I subsequently moved and the mixer sat in a storage box for the best part of ten years. When purchased, I think i'd used it maybe 5 times before putting it into storage. About 18… Read more
months ago I moved to a house where I had enough space to actually bring this thing out and have on a shelf in the hope it may be used at least sporadically. Sadly I have found that so many years on this thing is incapable and simply not up to standard - it sounds as though whatever grease exists inside it has evaporated or frozen and it grinds and bumps and whirrs and makes the most dire smell imaginable. Reading through some of the reviews here, i'm guessing like so many other customers I simply have a dud machine. I recall I paid nearly NZD800 for this, so when I bought it it was hardly a cheap or budget device. Anyways, I called Sunbeam NZ last week trying to find somewhere local that could possibly service it - the closest option on their website is over 100kms away. They offered no alternatives other than to ring some local electrician or appliance retailers and to ask them. I assume of course the warranty has long expired, not that I would have the receipt after all these years anyway. I got an email from the friendly customer service agent that was just a replication of the website - helpful right - and after three calls to local appliance shops am told no one is fixing these things as it isn't worth the cost/effort to do so, they can't evidently be serviced, so yeh, its just a lump of heavy metal on a shelf looking shiny and new but utterly worthless as a mixer.
I can't speak to the quality of the device any more as frankly I barely used it before it went into storage, and now its dead - all I can say is I wouldn't buy another device from Sunbeam because this thing is clearly low quality (despite the high price) and there is absolutely no support from the support number. I'm off to buy a Kitchenaid.
Does not cream butter and sugar – I've had Sunbeam mixmaster for 35 years I Bought a new one 18 months ago and dislike using it. Whipping butter & sugar together to make a cream is impossible, all the ingredients stick to the side and the base . So sad that I can’t use it for the purpose intended as I have loved my original one for 35 years. Show details
Stay away from Sunbeam – Purchased the first one and used about 10 times before one of the small gears broke. Upon inspection it was made of low grade cast metal. Replaced under warranty. We only used the second one about 15 times and for light mixes, knowing that it is not a heavy duty machine. Motor started sparking badly and it stopped working. Vey low quality… Read more
components and no spare pats available, which is tippical with cheap bad quality throw away products. I didn't expect it to be a heavy duty machine given the price point, but this thing is not fit for purpose. Will never go near a Sunbeam product ever again.
sunbeam mixmaster not good – Hi i bought the sunbeam mix master 1 and half year ago used only occasionally but it’s making grinding noise looks like the gear box is stuffed total waste of money Show details
Love this Mixer – My husband brought this for Christmas at least 4 years ago. I am surprised at the bad reviews as I LOVE MY MIXER. I don't use it every day but I do use it regularly and it hasn't missed a beat. I do agree that you have to scrap the sides and the bottom but I would do that regardless of what mixer I have as that's the way I have always had to do… Read more · 1
it. I love the way it looks and I love the speed control. I noticed it was the one they used on My Kitchen Rules and that is why I wanted it and I haven't been disappointed yet.
So disappointing – The motor sounds like it’s straining all the time. The paddles and mixer attachments don’t mix well at all because they are to far away from the bowl so always have to stop and scrape the sides of the bowl, even with the scrapper attachment. The cover part for the bowl has to big an opening so mixture still comes out. So disappointed with this machine. Show details
Two have gone the same way – The first mixer I bought lasted a few months, developed a grinding noise and was replaced under warranty. The replacement is about a year old and has also developed the same grinding noise. If you buy one, don't expect it to knead bread dough, as advertised. They are not very robust unfortunately. wrote a review stating both my original mixer and its replacement developed bad noises (ie gearing). Since writing the review I have had my mixer at the local repairer. He said he couldn't get spare parts, and consequently had 4 of the same model in his workshop unabled to be repaired. The good news, for me, is that was able to repair mine from parts in his broken collection.
Great Machine but After 4 yrs all blades were broken after infrequent use & after 5 stand base metal – I loved this machine - pause & timer which I thought was silly was brilliant & I loved the scraper, it has been a great machine. The pause works irrespective of timer so you can have it running & then hit the pause with your elbow to say chuck an egg in or have a look then elbow it again to start. Also works with the timer. HOWEVER, as I was… Read more
only using the scraper I didn't realise that the metal blade used 2-3 times had the coating chipping away, so too the top of the whisk and dough hook, the scraper plastic broke recently (only ever hand washed). Now the stand itself has pitting at the base. I only use it around 1/mth & it is kept in cupboard not on bench so not damp. Also it is a pity that second bowls are not readily available for purchase. So now without any attachments I have to decide what to do. The motor is still great.
Love it – I love my mixer, I don't use it every day or anything like that but have never had any problems with it. Previous to this mixer I had a cheaper model sunbeam stand mixer that wasn't planetary. I like how the whole mixing bowl is used, it's great for making cakes, whipping cream, whipping egg whites. The only downside is that it is too big to… Read more
fit in any of my cupoards as the shelves are fixed so has to stay on the bench. So I would recommend measuring the space you want to keep it in before purchase.
Disappointed. 3 Broken machines and counting – I bought my MX9200 in September 2012. I was initially pleased with the performance. Over time, the gears became louder and the machine eventually stopped working at higher speeds and then stopped working altogether. The machine was replaced and I received a new machine, this machine never sounded as smooth as the first one, it was always much… Read more
noisier. Within just a few months it too stopped working. This was also replaced under warranty. I have had the 3rd machine for 11 months and today it too suddenly stopped working. I'm at the point now where I'd prefer a refund to being replaced with another machine which will break quickly.

Sunbeam cafe mixmaster – I brought my sunbeam cafe mixmaster not long ago and I love it I've always had a sunbeam mixmaster over the years and I've never had any problems with them it mixes great and whips up cream and egg white fast I would highly recommend it if your thinking of buying one .
Great, for 18 months... then boom! – I bought this Mixmaster 19 months ago and have used it every 2nd / 3rd day over the last 6 months. I make sourdough bread every 2 or 3 days and prefer to use a mixer. This is my first mixer. The motor was fine until this morning when there was a loud crack and a burning smell. And no response after that. How sad... and I'm not happy. I paid… Read more
NZ$390.00... a lot of money for me. The attachments were good, a scraper, whisker, mixer and dough hook, all the options I wanted. But 19 months performance for $390 is not good by my book.

Rubbish – Bought it for mum 3 years ago for mothers day and she has only used it a hand full of times gear box broke and is seized. Repair man said it was immaculate inside but the gear snapped breaking the gear housing. Really disapointed this thing took a whole month to save up for on an apprentice wage

Love my mixmaster!!! – I bought my sunbeam cafe series 9200 in the hope of making my life a little easier. I own a small cafe and bake all the slices and cakes myself. This mixmaster meets all my expectations! It has timer with memory, pause button and broad variable speeds all while not making a heap of noise. Highly recommended for anyone that loves to bake!! Oh and if you want perfect pastry or meringue.. this will be your new best friend! Show reply
Buy something else – Husband thought he was buying a quality piece of equipment. Which it was until the brass cog that turns the bowls chewed itself out. The machine now makes a god awful screeching noise and wont turn the bowls. Tried to get a replacement part from a Sunbeam repair agent but after only a few years this part is unavailable making the whole machine… Read more
useless. Really annoying because the mixer part works well. Wont buy Sunbeam again if they're not going to support their products for longer than 12 months..
