LOUSY IRON – As I grew up with Sunbeam irons, and no other all my life, I bought this one, to replace old one. It is the worst iron I've ever tried to use. What happened Sunbeam???? It's a mess ... drips water all over, and all the reviews said that before I bought it, but really could not believe them ... not SUNBEAM! BUT, yeah, steer clear of this iron. … Read more
Doesn't get hot enough to stop drips ... just very poor workmanship, obviously from a company that doesn't seem to care. This iron is very expensive for an iron ($101) and for that, you'd expect a well-designed and working product. The sole plate is amazing, but not with all the water dripping out all the time. They must be spending a lot of $$$ processing returns, and throwing a sub-standard product away into the environment. Given the number of negative reviews, they are certainly aware of the problem. But, do nothing about it! Sunbeam of yesteryear was a fabulous iron .. this model and product just sucks. Bye-bye Sunbeam!
Lasted a week – At first it heated up quickly and worked fine. After a week it is going into auto shut off after around 30 seconds regardless if it’s standing, laying down or being used. Very disappointing product from sunbeam! Show details
Does not work – This is the first product I've ever bought that does not work out the box. Bought this iron 2 days ago and did the first water clean. Today I turned it on for the first time and the beeping started within 5-10 seconds. The temperature is intermittent, and not able to iron a t-shirt when on hottest setting. Tonight I tried again and same beeping.… Read more
Put the iron down flat to iron, did two strokes and the beeping started again. And water was dripping down from the holes in the plate. I didn't check the reviews because I've bought sunbeam for 30 years. Don't waste your time in this product.
Disappointed with Sunbeam Verve SR6550 – I bought the new Verve SR6550 iron about 3-4 weeks ago and used it on my next ironing day. Read the instructions and how the iron worked. Couldn't stand the continual beeping for whatever was upsetting it. 2nd week: tried again to use the iron. It beeped after about 5-10 seconds having stood it on its heel. (need to stop ironing to straighten the… Read more
clothes). Then it got upset again - more beeping - couldn't work out what the problem was. I shall return this to the store when I'm next in that town. After 50+ years of ironing I should know basic safety and how to use an iron! I shall go back to my non-digital steam iron which still does a good job. It's also a bit heavy.
Good – I always iron my own shirt and this iron all of my shirt really well, it’s easy to use anc it heats up quick. The cord length is quite long, so it is easy to handle and use. Show details · 1
Heat up quick – I just bought this last month and it is still working well. It heats up quick, easy to handle, use and iron every type of clothing. The cord length also fits my arm and the price is not that expensive as well. Show details · 1
not too bad – It is not too bad as what the others said I think, It works normally and okay for me, the water inside doesn't drip everywhere and it glides smoothly. The weight is a little bit heavy but this is not a big problem. I also like the cord, it is quite long. Show details
Thanks for the review Tanya!
Revising my initial 5/5 down to a 1-2 – Update: Firstly, I'm pretty sure we purchased at Myer, not David Jones - sorry for the misleading information. Secondly, after our initial elation, ours stopped working about 3-4 weeks after my first review - that is, it refused to heat up. After calling Sunbeam and being told the quickest way forward was to take it back to Myer, that's what… Read more
I did. The exchange process was simple and relatively quick. I asked the salesperson to turn the replacement iron on to check that it would heat up, which it did very quickly - much more quickly than the one I was replacing initially had. I thought "Hurrah - problem solved!" and set off home.
About 6 weeks in the steam shot reduced to a watery ejection from the base of the iron that soaks the fabric I'm ironing. I've checked that the iron is heated up properly and the settings are correct. This one's going to have to go back. Again :-(. So disappointing.
This is now the fourth consecutive Sunbeam Iron I've had to return in the last 6 months, and I'm sorry to say that my faith in a once very reliable product has now been exhausted. I'm not sure about any current models other than the two I've experienced (2 x Verve 6250; and 2 x Verve 6550..with Choice giving the 6550 a very clean bill of health) but I'm starting to think that the one good 6550 that Sunbeam made was the one tested by Choice, and that the rest of us have the "normal" quality ones. I should have read the rest of the reviews before purchasing, and not held so much in faith.
I've given the iron a "2" two because it does heat and iron well as long as you don't want to use the steam shot (which sadly is never for me, as we don't have any synthetic fibre clothing). If you want to use the extra steam, view the rating as a "1" :-(
Slightly let down, cheap & works ok but I wish I've spent another $50 & bought a better iron – Pros: - Cheap and it's heated up quick, sprayed fine. - Alarm/beeping if it's been idle for a while when it's on (which is great feature for me!) Cons: - Leaks/drips water during the ironing & idle (Look others have same problem) - Steam function is not as good as my other iron (Philips) - Cheap Plastic knob for the water door - break… Read more

Not sure if I'll purchase Sunbeam iron in the future - probably just spend
another $50 to get other brand and be more satisfied with it..
CHEAPLY MADE – This is the 2nd of these irons I have purchased in the last 12 months, the small plastic knob that locks the water door closed has broken off on BOTH irons, now when ironing I cannot fill past 1/4 full or water leaks out all over the garments. Cheaply made, I won't be buying another, I've learned my lesson. Show details
Disappointed - supposed to no drip- drips constantly – Purchased this model to replace my old sunbeam iron. This model drips on my clothes, I first thought it was faulty and returned it to the store. The buttons on the spray and water functions lift off too easily and kept coming off. The replacement one did the same thing. Show details
A disappointment, not good value for money & poor steam function – Bought this to replace another Sunbeam iron. On the first use it dripped water when I tried to use Steam so I took it back and got it replaced. The second one was a bit better but after about 6 months use you would need to pump the steam button multiple times, let it drip a little then it would usually steam after that. After about 20 months the… Read more
manual steam function was fairly useless - most times it would just pour water out the base when you tried to use it. Other observations are that the iron is poorly shaped where the cord wraps around so it doesnt stay in place very well. After owning 4 Sunbeam Irons now I can the mid range models are only really good for about 2 years use and the non stick coatings are not very durable no matter how careful you are around zips and buttons.
On the plus side it heated up evenly and fairly quickly and was well balanced and not too heavy. The automatic off function worked as described right to the end.
Potential Issues? – Hi All, just bought a Sunbeam Verve 62 Urban and from day 1 it makes this "creeking sound" as you glide along the clothes? I have heard similar sounds when using steam irons at hotels and invariably these irons leak water onto the clothes. The Verve has not done so, as yet, however is this sound "normal"? I look forward to advice from Sunbeam. Show details

Didn't last 1 month – After 25+ years of happily using a Sunbeam iron a fraying cord was only reason I had to purchase a replacement selecting a Verve 65. The iron heated up well and spray was fine, however it is heavy and the dial is quickly moved from its setting just by handling the iron. The spray filter came off (broken screw) on its third use and as it's… Read more
under warranty is being returned. I'm replacing it was a different manufacturer - fingers crossed. I cannot believe that Sunbeam has produced such a disappointing iron.
Fine at first, but then terrible – Bought for a reasonable price at Kmart and it worked well for a short while. This iron then began to leak and spit a little. Now it doesn't heat up, despite the light being 'on'. The heat selection dial seems fine and I can hear the thermostat clicking, but there is absolutely no heat whatsoever. The iron also beeps when it has been sitting… Read more
without use for a while, so that function also seems fine.
I am very disappointed with this iron. I had my previous Sunbeam iron for close to 20 years. This one lasted just over one year. I don't feel the same way about Sunbeam that I once did.
I think I'll try a different brand of iron now.

Really disappointed! – After owning a sunbeam vultura 5500 which I absolutely loved, I purchased this one. It's a pretty iron so was so excited to use it. The noise it makes when sucking in the water for the steam was much too loud for me and on the first use, after 15 mins it was sticking to the clothes.. So I took it back. So disappointed as my last iron was so… Read more
perfect and lasted me 9 years! I purchased a Philips iron today in hopes its a lot better than the verve 65. Wish I had read some reviews before purchasing. Unfortunately I don't think I'll go back to sunbeam.
Initially very happy but didn't last long – I found the iron worked really well and I loved the reminder feature of beeping when I walked away and forgot I had left it on. The iron heated quickly and temperature control worked well. I can't find my receipt but feel that it is only just over 12 months old and now it has died. Surely they should last longer than this? Great iron – Purchased Verve 65 Platinum today at K-Mart & used first time tonight. That is what I call a steam iron, made ironing my husbands shirt a breeze. Returned my Russell Hobbs iron as steam button kept sticking & hardly any steam. So far so good with this one & nice long cord. Show reply
Loyalty to Sunbeam brand exhausted!! – Well I am afraid that I too am very disappointed with this iron. Have always had sunbeam and have always been happy, but not this one I could literally throw it away, yes it leaks all over the place, does not get hot enough and the steam, spray buttons keep falling off. Please renew my faith in (what in mind is) a reliable brand.

Do not buy this product – Very disappointed in this product. It leaks water all over our clothes and the buttons for steam & spray are loose and fell out. We pushed them back in but they keep popping out. We only had this iron for a couple of months but need to throw it away. What a waste of money! Our previous Phillips iron lasted many years and we only had to replace it because it fell & broke. We won't be buying a Sunbeam again.

Leaking water constantly – This iron wasn't cheap, I can't remember what I paid but I made sure I bought a decent model. It has constantly leaked water and now leaks so much sometimes the water goes on my hand and is really hot. My mother-in-law won't iron for me anymore ever because of the leaking. Going to have to buy a new one but it can't be a Sunbeam, this is the second leaking iron I've bought.

Will never buy a Sunbeam iron again!!! – I have three Sunbeam irons and all constantly leak water (and I cannot find/see where from) which increases my ironing time substantially! Doesn't Sunbeam have any quality control mechanisms with the manufacturer? I'll certainly be trying other manufacturers (after I have checked their reviews). Have always thought Sunbeam was a trusted manufacturer!!

Terrible – The buttons for steam brop out. Took it apart to see what was wrong. It is so poorly manufactured it's a wonder it lasted the couple of months that it did last. I have had enough of pushing the buttons back in every 10 minutes. I have always used sunbeam irons but not next time.

Sunbeam crap 65 platinum – Just purchased this iron yesterday, it is a disgrace. Shot of steam takes time to occur after steam button is pushed, leaks water all the time while ironing and the water filler seal leaks. The buttons and water filler cover look very flimsy. Returned for refund today. No more sunbeam products for me. What happened Sunbeam, is you design engineer… Read more
Donald Duck? If this is the best you can do maybe you should get your products designed in China along with the manufacturing.
Steam button broke – As per other reviews, one of the steam buttons broke off. The iron is only 18 months old. Not worth the price.
Worst iron EVER!!!!!!!! – I purchased a Sunbeam Verve 65 Platinum iron a couple of years ago and while it was still under warranty the steam buttons broke away from the iron. Tried to get it repaired but was told to replace it with a new one which I did last year (2014). Whilst ironing this morning the buttons have broken away from the iron AGAIN!!!!! This iron is rubbish… Read more
and I won't be replacing it with another Sunbeam. Judging by the amount of reviews which specify the same problem, perhaps Sunbeam should think about recalling this model and going back to the drawing board. Very disappointing.
Leaky Sunbeam Verve 65 – Yes, mine leaks/dribbles too with dark flakes in the liquid. Settings are always just between Cotton and Linen with just under full steam. The steam dial is very difficult to turn. Both the shot of steam and spray buttons have broken off despite my never using these features. Just about the worst iron I have ever purchased. Of course, it's out of… Read more
