SCAM - THIS WILL COST YOU A LOT OF MONEY The following is an email sent to Superprof today. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. IT IS A SCAM AND COULD COST YOU A LOT OF MONEY. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally notify Superprof of unauthorized recurring charges applied to my payment method and to demand a full refund of €702 (18… Read more

monthly charges of €39).

I engaged with your platform on a single occasion to access tutoring services. At no point was I clearly informed, in plain and unambiguous language, that by doing so I was entering into a continuous monthly subscription agreement. The subscription terms were not presented in a transparent manner prior to payment, nor did I provide explicit, informed consent to recurring billing — as is required under consumer protection law, including the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and applicable regulations governing subscription services.

Despite using your service only once, charges of €39 per month have been deducted from my account for 18 consecutive months, totalling €702. I became aware of this only recently, having never received adequate notice that such charges were ongoing.

I am therefore formally demanding the following:

1. Immediate cancellation of any and all subscriptions associated with my account. 2. A full refund of €702, representing all charges collected without informed consent. 3. Written confirmation of the above within 2 calendar days of the date of this Email/letter.

Should Superprof fail to respond satisfactorily within this timeframe, I will have no alternative but to:

— Initiate a formal chargeback dispute with my bank and card issuer for all unauthorized transactions; — File a complaint with the relevant consumer protection authority; — Pursue the matter through small claims court or other legal channels available to me; — Report the matter to trading standards and consumer watchdog bodies.

I also wish to note that this pattern of billing practice has been widely documented by other consumers and is subject to ongoing scrutiny. I trust Superprof will treat this matter with the seriousness it warrants and resolve it promptly.

Please respond in writing to this email address. I am available to discuss resolution, but I will not accept any outcome short of a full refund.

Yours faithfully,

Jacob

You attempt to message a tutor and are met with a $69 month fee expected to be paid prior to even being able to contact the tutor. The website does not make it know of the additional cost and based on the wording, it comes across as payment for the paid lesson. Dodgy! Avoid!!

I wish I came here before joining, lost $69 for zero service. Hide behind questionable terms and conditions and have reported the businesses practices to the ACCC.

Misconduct at best. Should be banned in Australia. Fake, manipulated ratings for tutors. I have had a very concerning experience with Superprof Australia and believe there are serious transparency and accountability issues on this platform. First, tutors appear to be able to accept lesson requests, which immediately triggers a subscription charge… Read more

to the student. However, in my case, once the subscription fee was charged, the tutor completely stopped responding. This creates the impression that the system allows students to be charged before ensuring genuine engagement from tutors.

I contacted customer support multiple times through different channels and categories over four days, but I received no response at all. Strangely, Superprof replied to my public Trustpilot review within 40 minutes. This raises questions about their priorities — public image seems to matter more than resolving customer complaints.

I was also told to contact them again via email, even though I had already submitted four previous support messages. It feels as though complaints are not properly tracked or reviewed internally.

Another major issue relates to tutor ratings. When I attempted to leave an honest review below 4 stars, it did not appear on the tutor’s profile. In writing, I was informed that reviews rated below 4 stars are not published. This means tutor ratings are fake, manipulated, artificially inflated, and do not accurately reflect real customer experiences. The tutor I dealt with still displays a 5-star “Experienced” rating.

Additionally, the tutor advertised that the first lesson was free and confirmed this in initial messages. However, when I attempted to book, she stated that she does not offer a free first lesson. Superprof support acknowledged that this violates their own terms, and I provided screenshots of the conversation. Despite this, the tutor remains active on the platform.

Below is the exact response from the staff confirming how they manipulate tutors' ratings. ================================ "I wanted to clarify your concern about negative reviews on the platform. Reviews are manually sorted by the Customer Care team, so they may be validated and transmitted to the recipient (tutor or student), according to their content. Negative reviews (less than 4 stars) won't be shown on the tutors' adverts, but are sent to the tutor if validated. As it's your case, your review for Vanshika has been sent, but it won't be visible on the tutor's advert. " ================================

Overall, this experience has left me feeling that:

01. Subscription fees are triggered too easily without protecting students.

02. Support responses are inconsistent and prioritise public reviews over direct complaints.

03. Tutor ratings are fake and manipulated and do not reflect genuine feedback.

04. Tutors who breach platform rules remain active.

I strongly believe platforms operating in Australia should maintain transparent review systems and enforce their own terms consistently.

I cannot recommend Superprof based on my experience. This site should be banned in Australia.

Not recommended at all. All tutors that I contacted based on their profiles info came back with the same message that they are sorry for the accepted reply was auto-generated and their info is either no longer valid or they are not able to offer the services that they said to offer on their profiles. Its rather frustrated and waste of time and… Read more

money. Superprof should not charged for a “false acceptance” auto-generated by the platform and not truly accepted by the tutors who all came back saying they didn’t accept. This needs to change and only charge a fee if the acceptance is truly from the tutor. It is false and misleading to let people think they have access to updated and accurate information on your platform.

This website is such a scam. You search for tutors and find one in a price range you can afford, and then on the joining page it states $69. Turns out that this is the subscription fee - $69 per month on top of the tutors fee!

Scam Scam Scam – Find the way they word the student pass very misleading. I was under the impression I would only be charged if I proceeded with a lesson. They charge your card immediately and no option to refund if you never even have a lesson. I would avoid this service.

Dodgy business – Avoid like the plague. You sign up for a lesson and they automatically hit you with a $69 subscription fee. They won't reply to emails. They are just dodgy as hell.

Follow-up  · - The website was easy to sign up for, and I suspect that's all they really wanted. - The UI is arranged in such a way that if you're not looking very carefully, you will think you're paying for a lesson. But you're in fact paying to access the platform that allows you to contact tutors. $69 so I can literally contact a single tutor. - After… Read more

Misleading information and a confusing website layout. I never used any of their services, yet I was still charged the student pass fee. The worst part is the customer service, it’s all AI-generated replies. I even received two identical email responses, which made the whole experience even more frustrating.

Follow-up  · No refund was offered after rounds of emails. Awful customer service

This is a scam. Please do not register with them. They charge $69 initially and then stating that the first lesson is free. Do not use this method. When requested a refund, you will not get this either.

“Not recommended. They continue to deduct money from your credit card without you realising it, whether you use the service or not. I would not recommend this. If you do decide to use it, make sure to cancel the membership straight away (I didn’t realise there was one), otherwise you will be charged monthly. Never again.”

Annoyingly they debited my card before anything had been booked however it advertises sessions for kids and then the ln once they took my money without consent the instructor says he couldn’t do the coaching session because he told me he can’t teach kids under 18 when his whole profile talks about how he trains kids. this before they debited payment. Infact it told me I wouldn’t be debited until sessions in place. I’ve emailed them and they were making it very difficult to get a refund but now they have told me I will get it in 3-5 days.

they have emailed my request for refund telling me I signed up to a subscription to contact the coach WHICH IDID NOT!!!!! I paid for a coaching session and feel misled. Also other reviews here with many other people who, like me, also feel they have been scammed.

very annoying they take your money before product has been provided (when it stated this would not happen)

I google singing lessons, Darwin Australia. Oh great, 35 available teachers. Research them and they all state face to face or on line. Bang first up. One young lady says yes but I said only on line. Well I don't want to do on line. I try 6 others. Rejection. We don't give lessons in that city. Clearly they have no idea where Darwin even is! I… Read more

go back to the first young lady who states that she is residing in Darwin and tell her I'll try on line. I organise a time for today Monday 30th April 2026 at 3.30pm. So getting closer to the time, I start getting calls from Alabama re these lessons. They continue. I tell them I'm not answering Alabama. The final i messaged back telling them I live in Australia not Alabama. I receive answer back saying " Come on, it's on line give it a try" i said I don't put up with bullshit. Honestly why are these companies allowed to advertise these scams in Australia. There is enough information from Australia advising the scam. I'm one of the lucky one's that didn't pay any money, but wait. I haven't checked my bank statements yet. i didn't give them any bank details but these scammers find ways.

I was disgusted with Superproof for charging me $69 for access to tutors that I decided NOT to use at all because I found someone locally. I had interpreted mistakenly that I would ONLY be charge if I actually had a first lesson. On contact they refused to offer a refund. So that was $69n down the internet drain.

Superprof is a professional scam. They promised a free lesson and will charge the card only if lesson continue. After submitting my card details I never hear from them again. They don’t provide email or number to call back. Reported them to the bank and was told they stolen some of my personal details as well and told me to report police.

Embarrassed to say I was scammed by Superprof. Charged 2 months of subscription fees of $69 without any tutoring or even knowing we had subscribed. 3 tutors rejected our application for my daughters tutoring all the while being charged a monthly fee! It is a deplorable scam!

This page is a complete scam. Please do not fall for it. They have hidden policies and subscriptions that you don’t even realise you are signing up for, and they refuse to give refunds. Their responses are blunt and rude when you question it, simply repeating their so-called policies as an excuse. It’s absolutely not worth your time or money. Do yourself a favour and do not sign up with this company.

This company is a scam. They will continue to charge you $69 a month regardless of whether you find a tutor and are not transparent about the money they are deducting. biased attitude towards certain country. Its all just a lie at sign-up, it's not even subtle. When you request a lesson, it tells you that they only charge if THE tutor accepts, but then they spam you with other tutors, hundreds of kilometres away, saying this random unrequested tutor has "accepted" you. They use this as justification to charge you, even though the tutor REFUSED your lesson. It's the absolute definition of a scam.

SuperScam instead of Superprof. They said they will not debit the $69 subscription fee unless you and your tutor have reached a deal. However, their system will automatically contact tutors ON YOUR BEHALF WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT, and then ACCEPT the offer from tutors, and debit the subscription fee!! That's insane! Keep away of this scam websites!

Had one lesson with one teacher and unaware I was going to be charged every month for visiting the site once. Tried to dispute in November but they didn’t respond and keep charging, $69 in December and $69 in January. I don’t have the money for this and would never have paid if it was clear that it was a subscription. Very misleading and won’t refund me

Wow, people here are really angry and I’m truly sorry they had a bad experience - it really sucks. with millions of tutors in dozens of countries. A quick Google search will confirm that. Yes, the $69/month (~$16/week) “student pass” subscription is high, but you can cancel anytime after the first payment. You also have a whole month to find a tutor that suits you and your first lesson is free. There are lots of tutors offering lessons at very reasonable rates from $40–$50/hr.

Sincere question: How do you think tutors can afford to offer lessons for only $40 or $50 per hour? It’s because Superprof generously offers them effective ads that are super affordable - $69 per year or even free.

If you had no subscription fee, Superprof would have to take a cut of the payment you send to the teacher, & the teacher would have to raise their prices (Probaby by about $16 per lesson). If you add the $16/week to a $45 lesson fee, it’s still only $61 per hour - way more affordable than almost every music school.

I do think Superprof should definitely be clearer about the subscription being activated when a tutor replies. Confusing, yes, but it’s not a scam.

Overall, It's a really valuable service that allows you the student to research, compare, message and do a free intro lesson with many teachers so you can find the perfect teacher for you.

As a tutor it’s been really effective advertising and I’m really grateful to have a thriving business filled to capacity with so many awesome students.

Sincerely, Zac
