Sydney Tools, Archerfield QLD I had a frustrating experience with Sydney Tools regarding a nail gun service. I brought my gun in for inspection on 02 March 2026 and paid AU$35. I declined the full service costing around AU$311 and instead paid AU$132 for reassembly on 09 March 2026. When I picked it up, the tool was reassembled incorrectly,… Read more
with metal parts protruding, making it unsafe to use. I left it with them again, hoping it would be properly fixed.
In total, 23 days have passed, and I have already spent AU$167, yet the tool is still unusable. This has caused lost time, stress, and unnecessary expense, as I rely on my tools for work every day.
I hope Sydney Tools improves communication, quality control, and turnaround times for future customers. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service at this time.
Sure they have a no returns policy which i didnt realise. But $100 purchase same day return untouched goods without even offering credit just does not cut it as far as im concerned. High Praise for a Job Well Done – I purchased a laser level from Zack at the Virginia store. Great guy very helpful, respectful, knowledgeable and honest. Needed a stand as well with the attachment to read the numbers in the daylight. Not only did he work through all the pros and cons of the different machines but found some that were on sale. that he couldn't remember what he had said about the blades. The blades are a pack of 3 and worth $93.00 and now in their words its bad luck for me, and i feel for you. Dishonest and deceitful
Be wary when buying anything from this store, and from my experience do not listen to the advice of the employees. They obviously have limited understanding about the products they sell and hide behind company policies when they get it wrong.
Will add this matter has now been settled and the item was credited to my account
I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful young man named Scott while shopping in your store yesterday. I had no idea what I needed for a home project and Scott came along with all his knowledge and helped me out with exactly what I needed. Friendly helpful staff - Bundaberg – I recently purchased a bosch tool kit. The team was easy and friendly to deal with. Only thing that let them down was being misled about the instore credit offer. The supplier advertises free freight above $99. What they fail to advertise is that this is a discretionary application of an offer, subject to the whim of the sales staff. False advertising and when questioned was happy for me to go elsewhere. Intersting customer service...or lack therof.

I'm really disappointed in Sydney Tools, Stafford. I purchased a Panther 3.5Kw Generator to help me through the recent 2025 Storm blackouts we've been having. would have to send it to their Archerfield store. I left it for 3 weeks but got no call or correspondence from them. I called up and they said they would look into it. I received a call back that day to say that a technician was going to come out and look at it that day (If you can believe the coincidence!). I asked that I be called back once the issue had been looked at, but didn't hear anything further. I called Sydney tools back 2 days later and asked what was happening.
I was told that the generator had been repaired and was being dropped back to the Stafford store that morning (another coincidence!). I enquired what the issue was and was told the oil was very watery/diluted and the spark plug needed replacement. This is a brand new generator that i had only had for a few weeks. The oil was the fresh oil that i had been supplied with when i purchased the generator. So if it was watery and diluted then this is because of something that was already present in the sump. I'm also not convinced that this would cause the engine to 'knock', although the spark plug could be a contributor (again it was brand new!).
I returned to the store at 1.00pm but was told the generator hadn't been returned. I asked to speak to the Manager, who told me there was nothing he could do and i'd have to drop back. It's a 40min drive for me! After i lost my temper with him, he said he would either get the generator dropped to me or he would drop it to me after he finished work. I never did receive the generator and have had no phone call to explain what is happening. I'm really unhappy with the product, but especially with the customer service.

afternoon, best delivery service I’ve ever experienced, but what upsets me is it came from the Archerfield store, just up the road from me, same store I rang wanting to pick it up, before placing the delivery order, they told me there mustn’t be any in stock, yet there obviously was, now I’m over $50 out of pocket for delivery when I really didn’t need it to be delivered. Absolute joke. Went to Sydney tools to buy an angle grinder. After spending time looking at products and prices, decided to go with the Bosch one in the picture. however after triple checking the item and the price tag it all married up. The manager then proceeded to explain that the final price it was it scans too not what it is advertised on the shelf as. I have never heard of this in my life. He said they have trouble keeping the price tags updated. Seems as though they care more about profit than customer satisfaction. They need to hire more staff and take responsibility for their mistake. Bunnings manages and have far more items then they do and if something if wrong, they do the morally right thing and honour it and then fix it.

Not sure if the manager of this store has any conception of customer service??? This morning I bought $571 worth of tools. After the event I did some research on one of the items I bought worth $179.50 & found that Bunnings do it for $157, a saving of $22.50. Not a massive amount but decent enough in my books & Bunnings aren't exactly cheap, they… Read more
just have everyone thinking they are!! Also I can get another brand one that does the exact same thing for $50 cheaper which is a big saving!!! Later in the arve while opening the rest of my stuff, I realized something was missing from one item & I already knew my receipt was missing a page so I went back to return the more expensive item, get the missing bit & grab the full receipt. They gave me the missing bit begrudgingly, I think they thought I was pulling a swifty. It was a piece of plastic guard that goes over a sharp blade for safety & to stop it cutting other things in the tool box, 2 cents worth. They told me they wouldn't return the other item that had clearly not been used because "we don't do returns due to change of mind"!!! This is after I had just said I would order something else worth about $102. So I was happy to turn the return into other purchases & maybe a store credit as it was nearly closing time & I didn't want to hold them up. So I said again, as I was shocked, "so you aren't going to refund the item" & the manager said no!! I said I wouldn't be back, EVER & that every other shop on the planet did returns, that it was a bit rough as I'd been messed around & had to waste a trip back for the missing item & receipt. You would think he would at least try & keep a customer, that I might add, has spent thousands at this store. Not as much as some people would, but more than the average customer would have! He then went on to ask if I wanted him to order the part I referred to earlier?? Ah, that's a no. How hard is it to put something back on the shelf & keep a customer??? Not a very smart business practice!! NOT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE TOOL SHOP!!! I won't ever shop at Sydney tools again!!

the 1st of July was on the coast one day so dropped into Burleigh and was told it sold last night I then said when you get stock back in can you still do it for that price to which I was told yes but his system was showing one in stock at Archerfield and Virginia. As Archerfield was the next closest to me I went there. When I walked in the store I got no customer service and I saw a staff member right at the end of the counter who absolutely cringed when he saw me walking towards him. I asked if he was busy to which he replied he is always busy which I thought was quite odd (you know customer facing service role are isn’t it you primary role and admin secondary??) I then asked if he had the welder to which he said he had one and we went into the aisle to check, when it wasn’t there he said I’ll have a look out the back. He then returned and said there was one there on a pallet but he couldn’t get to if for at least 2 or three days ( haven’t they ever heard of a forklift and box cutter) I wasn’t buying a 5 dollar drill bit I was buying a $3K welder! I then responded by saying as I did at the previous store can you do it for that price to which he immediately said no that expired at midnight last night. After I explained to him about how I’d been trying to get one for days he said I’ll write the area manager an email and see if he approves it. He then asked me to sign up and make an account which I thought was a good idea and said as soon as he heard he would contact me direct. After not hearing anything at all surprise surprise I remembered the Virginia store. I rang them and they said they had one and they could do it for the special price and they would put it aside for me, there was one little issue when they typed my name in their national account data base I didn’t exist? Well in my opinion the young man at Archerfield never entered my details into the system and never sent the email to his area manager even though he kept me there at the counter for 10 minutes whilst he was supposedly doing just that! This might come as surprise but to this day I still haven’t heard back from Sydney Tools Archerfield if you want to use these guys I highly recommend going to Virginia instead!

As others have posted recently post-cyclone Alfred, Sydney Tools have taken advantage of a situation outside most people's control and profited from it by not allowing refunds, exchange or store credits on any emergency supplies purchased prior or during this major weather event. In my case, it's a $1,599 generator - brand new, still in the sealed… Read more
box. I contacted the store on the first business day after the cyclone and they told me that "we're not currently taking returns on generators, you'll need to check with Head Office". He also said that they could do with stock as people were still trying to buy generators due to mass power outages so I offered to bring mine in immediately but apparently they still couldn't refund it. If I could afford to donate the generator to someone in need I would have but Sydney Tools could only think of the bottom line and a bit of extra paperwork!
What's frustrating is that when I viewed the now removed "Returns Policy" on their website it doesn't include these items in their exclusions. However, their "Terms and Conditions" which appeared to be the only location referencing a returns policy post-cyclone states that they won't provide refunds, exchange or store credit for items purchased during these events. I questioned them as I'd taken a screenshot of their returns policy prior to it being removed from their site (maybe it's back now). I also received a generic message from them several days after sending my initial request for a refund so I decided to lodge a complaint with the Office of Fair Trading to see if I had any further recourse. Not surprisingly, Sydney Tools are completely within their rights under Consumer Law to decide whether they offer refunds or not. I guess it's just how they want to conduct business when their competitors almost always accept returns and provide refunds often with no questions asked. Like the others who are posting these reviews we've learnt a valuable lesson - never shop at Sydney Tools if there's even a slight chance you'll be returning the item!

After cyclone Alfred, the ETA to restore power to our area was 1-2 weeks, so we headed out to buy a generator in store. We found a last one in stock at Sydney Tools, Beenleigh. trying to limit damages as we already experienced loss of income during these trying times. As we arrived back home, the power was restored and we were relieved. That was short lived however, as when we tried returning the generator the next day, unopened, we were told that the directors of Sydney Tools made the decision not to refund any generators, even if unopened! We were then provided with a copy of their company policy on returns and refused the return of the generator, even though it states on our invoice received, that 14 day exchange was allowed. No notice in store re no refunds or exchange, and none communicated to us when we bought it. We tried contacting head office and mediate via this platform, but only received a generic response, apologising for lack of communication re their return policy on their side, but no option to resolve. We even offered to accept store credit or pay restocking fee, but received no response. Now we are stuck with a really expensive, unopened, generator, and feel that the company is benefiting from people in need during times of a natural disaster.

purchased 3 of them ( purchases totalling over $3500) I was finally informed via Email in September 2024 (4 months later) that the unit would not be covered by warranty and would be returned disassembled!! I called the store and complained and was told that that the generator had failed due to corrosion from being in the weather and that these generators aren't suitable to be outdoors on the back of trucks or Utes!!! (they are marketed to tradies for goodness sake!!!) I told the manager that it was not good enough and that I was not happy with that explanation or outcome and was told he would try and sort something out. It is now February 2025 and after additional phone calls to the store I am still waiting for an answer and the generator has not even been advised as arrived back to the store. I now have another one of the generators that has failed but as it seems Sydney Tools is more interested in doing warranty responsibilities than keeping customers happy, It kind of seems pointless going down the same road with the second one???? Maybe fair Trading is the best route as any reasonable person would expect a "Tradies generator" to handle life in the back of a ute. It is very poor that Sydney tools have not honoured the warranty and it is also very poor that in every case apart from an email 4 months later saying that they will not honour the warranty , that I have had to be the one that initiated contact about this every single time!! Very poor form Sydney Tools !!
