Quite annoying travelling over an hour into the city for teds trade in service only to be told their own trade in estimate system is wrong and losing over a hundred dollars of trade in value despite checking and rechecking the trade in 3 times before even making my way into sydney as im disabled and require a support worker to drive and accompany… Read more
me. so when i do the trade in estimate it shows one lens as 299 value only to be left waiting and more deliberating and more waiting for them to go oh its wrong, yeah 199 only. if i had known i was going to lose a hundred dollars on trade in i wouldnt have even left the house or needed to pay a support worker. the fact you couldnt honour the price your own system stated was the correct trade in value is a joke, i felt pressured to still do the trade in seeing as i had already come all that way and it wouldve been a waste of money once or twice if i had had to come back again. not to mention support worker availability and cost on a weekend. if your trade in estimate system can be off by over 30%, 1/3, 100 hundred dollars, whats the point of having it.
I purchased a pair of Celestron UpClose G2 binoculars from Ted’s Cameras in Melbourne, but they developed double vision within the two-year warranty period. I returned them for service at Ted’s World of Imaging in Sydney and they were sent away for assessment. However, the repairers refused to fix them, claiming the issue was caused by me dropping… Read more
the binoculars. Since I never dropped them, this claim is completely false. I feel ripped off because they failed to honour their warranty. I will never purchase anything from Ted’s Cameras again and cannot recommend them. They charge premium prices for substandard products and do not stand behind their guarantees. I have since done a Google AI search about these binoculars, and this is what it said: Double vision in Celestron binoculars, particularly the UpClose G2 series, is a well-documented issue known as miscollimation. Because these are entry-level binoculars, they use a "prism tilt" system that is highly sensitive. Even without being dropped, the internal prisms can shift due to heavy vibrations (like being in a car) or temperature changes that cause materials to expand and contract. Many units are known to "drift" out of alignment over time due to these fragile internal mounts, making the repairer's assumption of a "drop" inaccurate for this specific model.
I rang about a second-hand Canon EF 1.4x III Extender. The call was answered promptly, and the agent’s response was helpful and obliging. The delivery and the quality of the lens were as described and on time. A special shoutout to Lisa. Show details
Follow-up · The lens was in near new condition. It was securely packaged and as the lens was in the Victoria branch of Teds and ordered from Queensland sight unseen, I was offered a full refund at the local QLD branch if the lens didn’t meet my expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending this company.

I'm very pleased that l now own the Nikon "holy trinity", made complete with the legendary 70-200 2.8 vr G. So many second hand items in this range suffer from mount damage and failing autofocus but Ted's Cameras supplied a truly mint condition lens that works perfectly and for a quiet bargain price. Couldn't be happier! Show details
The product is good. They shipped it immediately. The agent is very knowledgeable and has been willing to do anything.

High Quality Second-hand Camera Body – I ordered a second-hand Nikon D7200 camera body from the online store. It was listed as having some minor scuffs and wear, but as you can see from the pictures the only wear I could find was around the HDMI port; the rest of the camera is in pretty much as-new condition. It was supplied with a fully charged battery, which seems to be in a very… Read more · 1
good condition as it held its charge very well during my first couple of sessions using the camera. The camera itself worked flawlessly over the first 5 hours (and 200 photos) of usage. The only negative was that the charger supplied with the body didn’t work, but a replacement was shipped as soon as I contacted the support team.

I reached out to Teds online – The response was quick and efficient. Great service. Keep it up!
Canon EOS 550D - A SPECIAL Shout Out To Bronwyn In Customer Service – Credit where it's due. This lady got things moving and promises were kept. Pictures include an ancient kit lens I put on for basic quick testing. It was not part of the purchase. I get the impression that Ted's is super at the people to people bit but IT wise, perhaps like several established physical shop chains, not cutting edge? No… Read more · 2
complaints from me as such at all. I ordered late over the weekend but by Tuesday morning my second hand camera was still showing on the website. I thought to just ring to make sure all OK knowing this camera comes up not all that frequently (limited experience). A few minutes later Bronwyn had tracked one down saying in, "good nick". She then said it would be off to me in the afternoon. Up popped the tracking and it arrived perfectly packaged well within 48 hours.
If picking: the 2nd hand listings should probably say what exact condition each cameras is in, and even frame count where possible. However, you do get very good peace of mind general assurances from an honourable company.
The camera arrived in excellent plus++ (with battery and charger) condition, not even a scratch that i can see. For me to say mint it would need the original box and everything that came in the box. It was obviously selected carefully and it's also a real credit to any previous owner(s).
An awful lot of camera for not much at all, IMO. OK that last point is subjective as far as what is a lot of camera. This is not a camera review, but something like this to someone who is already invested in a few of the system lenses or wanting to start affordably, well, it's a good place to pause to consider things I think. Above phone level photography is something I come in and out of in a light amateur pursuit way. I simply don't think I would take advantage of more functionality often. Versus a phone the extra creative flexibility of this and I think that easily leads to pleasing results, is well worth any fairly easy learning curve, IMO. It does have full auto if ever in doubt, and . I find it easy to set up what I need with this design. Anyway this really is not a camera usage review.
Summary Carefully selected by a very competent human at Ted's; sold at a very fair price; possible minor IT blip if as OCD as me, which was instantly sorted by CS at Ted's in a cheerful and very competent way. I received a super product in great time by tracked delivery to my door (no extra charge). 5 stars✨️ without needing to blink, IMO. No need to look elsewhere next time if human service is key.
Oh, also thanks to Rick P who presumably handled the final packing and sending. Being packed with such care does not go unnoticed.
EDIT July 5 (same year as above) The IT side continues as a bit clunky in all honesty.
Getting back into photography I want to try a couple of options, so not looking to buy new into system just yet.
Long and short a lens turned up slightly different to one shown. Easy to make looking mistake and main thing is sorted by Jayde v quickly, after just one call. Great service on something so inexpensive.
Another item was a camera (current model) used. Needed a clean and a smudge evident on the sensor upon arrival. Lisa in Victoria was a super star sorting this to a very high standard.
Both minor inconveniences to me, and Ted's is now my most trusted and first choice in the sector.

I purchased a Nikon AF-S 55-300mm DX lens from Ted's Online Store, apparently the lens came from WA, it only took 2-3days for delivery, the lens was securely packaged and shipped. I was surprised the lens looked new and with the hood, lens bag,… Read more · 1
front & back lens caps and UV filter, have tested it on my Z50II and very happy with it. (using a VILTROX f-z adapter). Ted's also gave me a $20 2nd hand discount. The combination is very sharp.
Follow-up · I must say in my opinion it works extremely well either using the VILTROX adapter on my Z50ii or or my D750, i cant find the pic i took but the car was 220 metres away and i cropped into the number plate & it was as sharp as a tack.

I just want to say Erin is the most fantastic camera store employee I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I was calling around to every camera store possible to get the two lenses I needed for 48 hours, and all of them were either unhelpful, closed or just straight up rude and disrespectful (looking at you Georges!) Within 3 minutes of… Read more
getting on the phone with Erin, I not only had confirmed stock at your Chatswood store, but she had price matched the lenses for me, sent them the email and I had the quote in my inbox.
Compare this to me even contacting the store directly, who refused to price match the lenses at all, and when I got there, the manager wouldn't accept one of my personal lenses for trade-in on account of there being dust in the lens, when there wasn't a single speck of dust in there. This is the only reason I'm docking a star.
Erin from the online Ted's support is the absolute best camera store employee I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with, and I will definitely be calling and asking for her again in the future. It's incredibly hard to find good service at camera stores in Australia and something I regularly complain about to other professionals in the industry, but I will be going out of my way to recommend her to colleagues moving forward. She was even the same level of lovely when I called again on a Saturday afternoon. Ted's, you've just gained a customer for life.
Do not believe shipping times as stated – Be wary of a few dollars saved from Teds if shipping service is important to you. You may pay a hidden price by a delay in actually getting the goods. Shipping dates appear meaningless on their site. I ordered a printer (Epson ECO Tank 8550) with stated 4-5 working days delivery. We needed it for some bulk key documents we had to submit (very… Read more
delayed now) . There is nothing on the site that denotes this item as a special shipping item so I did not expect issues. I have rechecked and this item still appears a normal online order item on their site with 4-5 working days shipping. 8 working days later I chased Teds. 2 days after chasing them I got an email stating that they had made a mistake and that I should have got an email stating the item was now a "special order item" , thatI had a significant delay (no actual revised date given so open ended and up to a month delay for them to order from their supplier), and I "still had to confirm that I still wanted the item". . Problem is Teds never sent me that email. So it wasn't until I chased them and complained to customer service as to having no notice regards my order being several days overdue that it was sent and the item then actually ordered from their supplier. Further delaying my receipt of this item.
I also note that their was no delay in Teds taking my money though. So they appear to have $1000 interest free for whatever time they have to actually process the order.
I am frustrated that that they made this error which further prolonged shipping, that they could not meet the shipping dates as advertised on the item on their site, and that their is no clear mention that this is a special item on the site and subject to further delays with a further confirmation required by the buyer to proceed (which may or may not be sent).
Kylie Deserves a Raise – Kylie was amazing! I had a voucher from three years prior and it was tricky to use due to a new system. Kylie was able to price match, give me a new… Read more
voucher for the new system, transfer my voucher to a code (as I could only use my price match online and the card was for in store purchases). Without my asking, Kylie quickly put my item on hold since it was the last in stock, while we managed other issues. After my purchase, Kylie also swiftly refunded what was necessary while liaising with the store who had the item, ensuring delivery ASAP.
I was blown away with Kylie’s ability to manage so many things so efficiently and problem solve with ease at every step (while multitasking). Her attitude was so welcoming and understanding and I felt totally able to discuss with her what my needs were.
Kylie deserves a raise!
Before this interaction, I was considering other stores in future as Ted’s is sometimes difficult to get to but after this experience with Kylie, I think I’ll return to Ted’s and highly recommend them to others.
Kind regards, A happy customer.

Great camera stores. Staff actually know what they are talking about when it comes to photography, and are very helpful and personable. It is actually an enjoyable experience when I visit their many locations (unlike other so-called camera stores) Highly recommended. Show details · 1

The store in Brisbane city, the one in Adelaide street, charged us $128 for photo taken and another $180 for printing but none of them met the Passport office requirement and ended up doing it at the Post office
Phoned Adelaide Rundle street store on a Thursday early afternoon. Asked about my requirement of Canon battery charger. Staff person told me they had one. Despite being told on the phone in the hour before. Not the result I was expecting. So of course, I have since ordered my item elsewhere.
Absolutely terrible service (if you could even call it that) at Maroochydore STORE photo printing counter today. The woman was dismissive, unhelpful and just wanted to finish her shift. Been going here for over 10 years - won’t EVER go back.

I had a phone conversation with Jeffery yesterday from Pacific Fair store so I could have some questions answered about a few light options I was looking at. Not everything ran smoothly with a used-kit purchase, but that’s when I find out what vendors are really like. Shannon in Perth and Sue in the web orders department handled the situation professionally, promptly and with all the positivity I usually only associate with pre-sales. I was helped by Jayde, who was lovely on the phone, and took my query to her supervisor when it was clear that it went beyond what she was able to approve. I was very happy with the online support I received while trying to find a particular camera that is now increasingly hard to find. didn’t miss out on getting the camera. I would highly recommend Ted’s Camera house because of the great customer service I received. I wish I had caught her name to add to this review!
Outstanding service. My order was out by day 2 from placing. I emailed Ted's as I missed delivery and had no tracking details, and received a super fast reply from Harrison. Would definitely shop with and recommend. Thanks team! Show reply
I contacted the Teds customer support online and was advised which stores had stock of a second hand camera I was wishing to buy. Melanie at Teds Brisbane City provided excellent customer service, helping with the purchase of the camera body and tracking down a lens at an interstate store. The service I received from Teds was exceptional and I am very happy with my purchase. Show details · 1
I’m extremely happy with the service! My online order was supposed to take around 10 days, but thanks to the amazing support team, it arrived in less than 24 hours with express delivery. I have had wonderful service and advice from Greg Bowman at the Brisbane CBD store, who assisted me with trading in my current DSL gear and taking my first step up to a full-frame mirrorless Canon system. Bronwyn was also easy to work with via the online team as well. Thanks Scott Show reply

I had some initial concerns around receiving de-centered lenses. Thankfully, Teds were able to accommodate my request to test both lenses in-store prior to purchase. This greatly reduced my stress.
I was surprised that the RF 70-200mm F/4L IS was a special order as this is a sharp, compact and lightweight option for travel/hiking. It has an average user rating of 4.9/5.0 from 140 reviews on bhphotovideo. Perhaps Teds can consider it regular stock in the future? Regardless, I ended up choosing a near-new used RF 70-200 F/4 at a decent price.
Bought a 12mm to 60mm Panasonic Micro Fourthirds lens, second hand. When I received the lens it was the incorrect one. I wrote to Teds and they agreed with the mistake. These things happen. I asked for thecorrect lens to be sent to the Melboure Shop. So tomorrow i will take the wrong lens and pick up the correct one. I am happy with this arragnement. Show details
