Good idea poor execution – Having a cordless iron is very appealing idea , however, it is far from being properly designed and developed. The iron has to be placed on its charging station every 20-30 seconds which makes the process very time consuming. The reminder beeping sound is very loud and annoying
Not long lasting – This iron was working fine during frist 2 years. However, It stop heating after that. The warrenty is over and I don't have receipt either so only option throw in to bin. Show details
Great iron, glides well, annoying cable-free – Whilst the “charging” time initially is a bit of a nuisance, the benefit of having no cord for me is a win that overcomes this. Many complaints about the weight of the iron but actually this helps you reduce the pressure you have to apply on clothes hence making the job actually easier. The interim charges are nice and snappy making ironing en… Read more
masse still as easy as if you had a corded iron. Initially having to apply the trigger to get steam was a bit confusing and a bit contrary to other irons on the market but thankfully the trigger is nice and light.
Most useless Iron i have ever used – I totally agree with Lee from Sydney. For 55 years I've been ironing my family's clothes and find this Iron Heavy and a nuisance to attach to the board every time it's used. It glides beautifully over the clothes, but this one positive doesn't make up for the all the negatives. I hope the store I bought it from will take it back so I can choose… Read more
another brand. Oh i forgot the instructions are a joke I've asked everyone to help me with it and no one can fully understand it. I even went online to check out the instructions but there wasn't any
Heavy and contradictory to a lifetime of ironing practices. Totally unsuitable for purpose – I bought the iron, thinking it was a great idea, at Peters of Kensington. No staff were around to discuss the features of the iron. At home, I discovered there was little material to explain the optimal use of the iron - just a sheet of pictures which failed to illustrate answers to any of my questions. The iron is incredibly heavy and cannot… Read more
be stood on end as with conventional irons. It must be replaced in its charging pod, which is required at more frequent intervals than a conventional iron will remain hot. The only effective way to use the iron and its pod is by screwing the pod onto the end of the ironing board as it is too heavy to wield on a nearby surface and the pod slips around with the frequently repeated return of the iron for recharging unless it is properly anchored. However, one first needs to find an ironing board which will accommodate this attachment. Ha!! Try and find a modern ironing board that does not have all the plastic and wire bits at the end to accommodate a conventional iron. By making a few adaptations to my very old board, it would accept the plastic bolt attachment, but would not collapse for compact storage unless the bolt attachment were removed. How fabulously convenient! To use the new iron, I have first to re-attach the plastic bolt (which is pretty flimsy and of doubtful durability), then remove it before I can store my ironing board in its cupboard. Both the retailer and Tefal have been utterly unhelpful, basically dismissing my concerns as unwarranted. Buyer beware.....
Good item – This is a good item as it does deliver on what it promises. I however dont like where the spout for the water is situated. It seems its in the way. All up though it cut through my ironing in super time and I am happy with this irons results. Show details
I love ironing shirts now! – This one has made my life so easy. It generates huge amounts of steam and Les can be used as a steamer. It’s gentle on all materials and can even be used to own the duvet cover once it’s on the bed. And as the title says shirts pressed in minutes. Show details
Easy ironing – I brought this for my 69 year old mother and she swears by it. It makes her get through her ironing so much faster and it is a great product that is easy to use and store out of the way when it is not used. It's even easy to take with you Show details
good product – This is a good product when it works, i find if you are ironing a whole bunch of stuff it does not stay to temp for very long. if you are ironing just 1 piece hear and there it is a godsend and very quick but not practical for a whole load of washing maybe only 15 minutes at a time. Show details
The cordless iron is a godsend – I have been waiting years for one of these to come out as most irons I've owned the power cords have been super short but with the Tefal cordless makes ironing easy! The charger slot is sometimes hard to put the iron into but once it's in you just charge until the light changes. Really it's like any other iron but without a cord! Which I love Show details
Not as useful as I hoped – I got this for my sewing room so I would have some flexibility but I find myself reaching for my old corded iron as this just doesn't do the job I'd hoped. It doesn't seem to get as hot as my other iron and while it's not a huge issue reheating, it does slow things down. I also find the handle very wobbly which makes it feel a bit insecure. I really feel like I've wasted my money with this and can't recommend it at all. Show details
Works a treat and makes it so much easier – My iron heats up really quickly and it a pleasure to use. To the point that I had a about 10 customers that would drop off their ironing and I would do all their ironing for them at a small fee, this was a easy and effective way to earn money, plus plenty of potential as not many like to iron, but this iron made it worth it Show details
Excellent - I’m excited about an iron?!! – My trusty iron of 6 years suddenly shorted out so I went to Harvey Norman to get a new one; not a very exciting purchase (who enjoys spending money on an iron?!) I bought this one as I thought cordless could make it more functional and easy to use. Upon checkout I discovered it was discounted by $70 (I paid $99) which was a bonus and has a 2 year… Read more
warranty. At home, I plugged it in and got started. I had read a few reviews at the shop so already had an idea of how to use it. Keeping the steam trigger held on while ironing is a great rip. And also, the silk and lower settings aren’t hot enough, however the hotter settings worked excellently on some delicate fabrics I tested it one (I ended up ironing 10 shirts and dresses and I hate ironing!) This iron made ironing pleasurable! So easy to use, I love the cordless feature, it heats up so quickly after returning it to the charger (2-3 seconds). Big fan of the iron!

Iron is ok, Tefal isn’t! – In July I purchased a Tefal iron with a $30 eftpos cashback offer. I met all the criteria and posted the required documentation to Tefal and never heard back. I sent them two follow up emails to the email on their AU contact page and again, never heard back. Today I called Tefal (number on AU website) and spoke to an extremely disinterested… Read more
man. He told me that he was in Europe and couldn’t help me. His solution was telling me to email again!
I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor and was told there was no one else I could speak to. I asked how I could lodge a complaint, he told me that I couldn’t.
Tefal have failed to follow through with an offer they advertised and demonstrated horrible customer service. I’m really shocked and disappointed with this experience.
A great iron – This is a great iron that has made ironing so much easier without a cord getting in the way. It heats up quickly and has excellent heat and steam. It irons my work shirts really well. It needs to be returned back to its base frequently (about every 30 seconds) and this can take some getting used to, but I find it’s just enough time to iron a… Read more
section of a shirt before you need to adjust the position of the shirt anyway. I love this iron and would definitely recommend it.
Good iron but – So I bought this iron and love it. BUT, there are a few problems. First, this iron is marketed as being designed to take tap water. Please don’t! Despite keeping the ion filter clean, it blows little white chunks out with the steam burst button. Second it is a “no drip” seal. I’m not exactly sure what this refers to but it obviously isn’t what I… Read more
thought. After I have filled the water canister and close the lid, the spray nozzle has a little squirt! And by using the steam burst button it does also squirt water out of the base so you end up with wet patches on your garments.
That said, it charges fast and having no cord is awesome. The reason I bought it in the first place. It is also a great iron at getting out creases.
Wife loves ironing now – After reading some reviews that the iron was too heavy and taking a long time to re-heat I was a little hesitant about buying this iron. I'm happy to report that whilst it is a little heavier than our last iron it is not overly heavy, besides, the extra weight adds to the efficiency. It heats up fast and re-heats to maximum by the time you pick… Read more
it up after moving or turning the garment being ironed. The steam function is strong and efficient without leaks.
This is the best iron we have ever owned, it makes a monotonous job easier. Now the ironing no longer piles up in the basket.
Very poor design – Heat is low Takes too long to iron as one has to return it back to base for charge Cant stand it upright Water tank is small as well My old Phillips standard iron was fantastic.....no frills just did what it had to do...IRON without any hassles I don't think this codeless model will work for me! FAST and FABULOUS! - Perfect Iron for a working Mum of 4 kids: fast, stress-free ironing – I LOVE this Tefal Freemove 2400W cordless iron! My last iron (a top of the range corded Philips 3100) was great for over 10 years until it blew up recently. However, the cord always annoyed me, getting in the way and pulling on my clothes and crushing the fabric after I'd ironed each section unless I held the cord away from the ironing board! after ready heaps of bad reviews about the latest corded steam irons and then reading about the Tefal cordless iron, I thought I'd give the Tefal Cordless Free Move a try. I don't understand the bad reviews about this iron. I read them all before I decided to buy this iron and give it a go, and SO GLAD I did! Maybe some people don't iron the way I do or don't read the instructions??? (Actually, the instructions are in diagrammatic form in case you can't read well... but if you don't understand the pictures, the Tefal website has more information and they are contactable for questions.)
The Tefal heats up quickly, produces heaps of steam as long as you have the dial set to one of the steam settings (obviously) and keep the steam trigger button depressed as you go (takes a bit of getting used to, but easy enough as the trigger is under the handle and is easy to squeeze as you iron). Or there is also a Turbo Boost button as well for an extra burst of steam. I have had no problems getting creases out of my very crushed cotton and linen clothes. I never use starch, although I have always found a water spray bottle handy to use on really crushed cottons before I iron them, as none of the irons I have had (including this one) spray enough water (or mist properly) on the clothes to make a difference. I am a working mother of 4 kids and although I iron all their poly/cotton school uniforms and my work clothes all at once on the weekend (in the lounge room in front of the TV), I tend to iron other clothes as needed, so I leave my ironing board set up all the time except when we have visitors, so I don't waste time putting my ironing board up and down etc. However, the whole base and iron lift off the clamp easily so you can put them away and fold your ironing board within seconds. You just leave the clamp attached to your ironing board all the time (it doesn't interfere with folding your ironing board either). Bl**dy clever if you ask me!
I don't have any problem placing the iron back on its base within 30 seconds, (I see that some reviewers complained about this) as I normally iron sections of my clothes and stand my iron up anyway while I re-position the item of clothing, so it's just getting used to lying the iron down on the base instead of standing it up - no biggie! (and it re-heats by the time I've re-positioned the clothes - within seconds!)
My only worry before purchase was that the base might take up too much room on my ironing board (a really old basic ironing board) and that I might need to purchase a new fancy ironing board with a large iron-tray on the end (I see another reviewer said she replaced her ironing board), however the clamp allows you to position the base on the corner edge of the ironing board, and you can swivel the base around on the clamp to face outwards, still allowing room to iron long trousers etc. The base might get in the way of ironing large tablecloths or duvet covers etc. but this is the trade-off for having no cord to get in the way, and the positives far exceed the negatives. I have even thought about mounting the base on a table close-by my ironing board instead so I have full use of the ironing board, but I'll look at that option later when I need to iron a larger item as it is not worrying me at the moment, as I can easily iron long pants, dresses etc without restriction.
The water in the tank lasts longer than my last iron, even when I hold the steam button nearly the whole time that I'm ironing! The bottom of the iron is covered in steam holes (76 altogether I think) compared to 64 on my last iron) so you get a more even distribution of steam. And, I haven't had any problems with water spitting or leaking. Like any iron, you must wait until the iron has heated enough (there is an green "iron ready" indicator light) before you use the steam function, as any iron may spit out water at your clothes or drip if you do not wait. (This iron heats up just as fast as any other iron I have used in the past, so a few seconds to ensure that the temperature "iron ready" light is on before you use it ensures that you will have no problems with water spitting or leaking.) It takes tap water, so will have to review later down the track after it has been used for a while. The booklet instructs regular maintenance as with any iron: (This iron is self-cleaning - Heat the iron, unplug it, remove the anti-calc valve and spray the iron over the sink. • To de-scale: Remove the antiscale valve and soak the valve in a cup of white vinegar one or plain lemon juice for 4 hours).
I don't think I'll ever go back to a corded iron again! If you hate ironing like me and want a fast uncumbersome iron (without a cord that gets in the way), then I would highly recommend this iron!
Totally CRAP Iron!!! – I have owned many different irons over the years ranging; Sunbeam, Tefal's, and even two versions of the Laura Star. Without doubt this is the biggest piece of rubbish I have ever used. The B-I-G downside constant staining. Nothing to do with temperature or the water. Seems to be reaction between sole-plate coating and any spray starch. CRAP!!! Show details
Brilliant! – This iron is fantastic - plenty of steam and heat (comparable with a corded iron) and no annoying cord to get in the way. For me, 30 seconds of use before replacing on base is quite adequate, and it only takes two or three seconds to recharge and be ready to go again. The ability to use the steam function with the iron held vertically is great,… Read more
and the turbo steam fuction delivers a powerful burst of steam. The only issue (which is very minor) is some difficulty in seeing the water level through the purple/blue plastic tank. Overall though, I must say this iron does a great job, is easy to use, and is better than some corded irons I have used. I am intrigued by the anti-calc valve, and looking forward to seeing how effective it is (I've only had the iron a couple of weeks, and the user guide says to clean it monthly, so I'll have to be patient!). I really don't know how anyone could be anything other than pleased with this iron.
Disappointing – Couldn't wait to get it out and try it, but was very disappointed from the get go. It would only suit someone who has all day to iron, but in this fast paced world we live in I'm sure there would be many disappointed buyers. It only last for 30 seconds then needs to go back on the base and doesn't heat up enough:( Show details

Fantastic I find it amazing! – Powerful Cordless Iron who would have thought that this would work so well. The charging base fits well onto the ironing board and obviously there is no cord so perfect for me as I am a left handed person so it is easy to move in any direction with either hand and the heat settings are very accurate. very quickly.
The one thing that you have to get used to is instead of resting the iron on its base like you would with a normal iron, all you do is place it back in it's charger base while you move your item of clothing around for the next iron and while it is on the charger it is ready to use within seconds.
Very happy customer.
Fantastic, does exactly what it's designed to – What a fantastic cordless iron. I purchased this iron to use on board my yacht, there is no excuse for not having nicely ironed clothes even when living aboard a yacht. Although I have 240v mains via the marina, I didn't want a cord getting in the way so I purchased a cordless iron. My research led me to this Tefal FV9965. Used the iron today… Read more
and , wow, it's excellent.
The iron took very little time to heat up and then once off the charging cradle and it works as well as any other 'regular' iron I've used. I put the iron back in its charge cradle when I moved the clothes up/down/along the ironing board and that was more than enough time for the really fast charge to work...wow, the iron never lost heat and it took literally seconds to charge.
It was an easy process of replacing the iron into its charging cradle when repositioning or moving clothing.
The steam worked brilliantly when the iron was off the charging cradle
The iron kept excellent heat and I had to reduce heat on occasions for other fabrics
The iron has great steam and no dribbles of water
All in all, I rated it as 5 stars for the above reasons.
Cheers, Pete
Absolutely love it – The creases disappear straight away with little effort. The iron heats really fast and stays hot for quite some time. The best way to use it is, each time you finish ironing a section put it on the heater, rearrange your clothing item and the iron is hot and ready to go immediately. I found holding the button in the handle down at all times… Read more
releases the correct amount of steam. Haven't needed to use the sprays as the iron is so good.
I liked my old Tefal but this one is better and cordless! And it turns itself off if you walk away and forget it for too long.
Reading other reviews I found if it beeps after 4 seconds you DON'T need to put it back to reheat, it is still hot.
Good Stuff! – I've read all the review before I buy it. There's quite a lot bad reviews and I am so confusing but I made my own decision which is right! This Model is good enough for daily using and I am starting to learn how to iron my clothes. After my first trial on last Sunday I think I should give it a good review although 30s maybe not long enough but for me it's okay. Show reply
Very happy – I don’t really understand why all the bad reviews here? I almost decided not to purchase the iron after reading these reviews, but in the end I decided to take the chance. down, you put it back on it’s base (not too much to ask). It only needs to be on it’s base for about 4 sec before it is ready to go again, so by the time I have re-arranged my garment, the iron is ready. I very rarely have the iron off the base long enough for it to start beeping. It glides across my shirts smoothly, and the auto steam feature works great (with my previous irons I was pumping a button for steam). It was a little heavier than expected, but at the end of the day this works well too, because it means I do not have to apply pressure when ironing. I guess it all depends what type of ironing you are doing.. I am an office worker so I need to iron shirts weekly, this iron is prefect for this.
Difficult to understand how they can even make such a useless product – If I had had know that I needed to put the iron on the charger every 30 seconds I would never have contemplated buying such a useless product. I was really keen to use the iron and thought that there was some fault with it, went online to read some reviews and wish I had done so before the purchase. There should be some information on the external packaging to make the consumer aware. What a waste of money.

Can't Stand it! – Loved the idea of a cordless iron and was super excited to buy it, but as soon as I started using it I was pretty disappointed. Good enough, with a few flaws – EDITED 30/09/15 After trying another iron, I realised that the issues with the Tefal Freemove are fundamental problems which severely affect the performance of the iron. The dripping and erratic steam button especially should not be problems. As such I wouldn't recommend this iron and have downgraded my review to 2 stars. Pros: - nice smooth… Read more
soleplate which glides over fabric
- strong steam (when it works)
- easy to use
- automatic pause after being left on for so long, this has definitely saved me burning down my house!
- easy to descale (but I would recommend using filtered water even though they recommend against it)
- no major problems after two years
Cons:
- steam can be touch and go, sometimes the steam button doesn't work
- has ridiculously short life off the base - the iron starts beeping after a few seconds off the base and you have to recharge it before you continue ironing
- takes a long time to heat up
- tends to drip water from the base

Didn't live up to expectations – I have wanted a cordless iron forever & was so excited to purchase the Tefal Freemove FV9965. In its favour it looks lovely. But I will list the reasons why its going back to the store. 1 The water tank is dark & I can't see how much water is in it or when the water is close to the max fill mark. There are no instructions about filling the water… Read more
tank, or about how much water to use.
2 The iron doesn't have a flat base so it can sit on the ironing board, it MUST go back in the charging base.
3 The steam button is under the handle & is always on when using the iron, I don't always want steam.
4 The base clamp was too small to fit on my ironing board so I could not secure the base.
5 Worst thing - the base beeps if the iron is away from it for 30 seconds - how ridiculously annoying is that feature? You mean to say it only holds its heat for 30 seconds??? Sometimes I want to iron continuously for a longer time - eg when making bias tape, or ironing the tablecloth.
So, sorry beautiful iron. Back in the box & back to the store & I will buy a traditional iron that is not so bossy, and is easy to see the level in the water tank.

This was my first Cordless iron, but did not like it – This is quite a new model from Tefal. I intended to buy the previous Tefal Freemove cordless, however the store ran out, and I bought the latest model FV9965 instead at $169. I was so excited for this is my first cordless iron. I read the reviews of the previous model (and was impressed) and thought the latest model would have to be even better! … Read more
So coming home I read the instructions carefully, admiring the design and the soleplate (sad isn't it?). I clipped on the stand, filled up the water tank and plugged in the power. The charge was surprisingly quick. I ironed and few t-shirts and was looking for more things to iron just to test this new gadget.
I noticed the trigger steam was not very strong. I did experience the beep beep a couple of times because the iron was not back onto the cradle within 30 seconds. As an experienced ironer, I can turn and reposition the iron fairly quickly so I normally leave the iron face down and continue immediately. Therefore having to place the iron back into the cradle for under 4 seconds (the time it takes to recharge) was not an advantage to me.
Two days after my first experience, I was ironing some pillow cases. From the get go I noticed the Charge light blinking for over 4 seconds, but the iron was warming up. I tried to reset the iron, but still the charge light continued to blink throughout my ironing. To have this happen on my second ironing experience was enough for me to pack up the iron and return it to the store.
Other factors I found about the iron. The two buttons at the top (spray and steam) were a little heavy to push down. The steam trigger button at the bottom was sometimes 'in my way', for example, when I did not want any steam to come out, I would accidentally trigger it because of the position it was at.
As an experienced ironer, I don't find the cord on irons any problems at all. They don't get in my way. So perhaps the cordless irons are for those who find cords annoying - but this iron is just not for me.
Bought from Harvey Norman - June 2015.
