brief moment i dared to believe these had worked.. i could hear no scuffling or chewing noises and the house was overcome with an eerie calm silence.. the calm before the preverbial storm. .moments later the silence was interupted by an ear piercing scream from my teenage daughter.. i raced to her room and flung out the door to find my 14 year old standing on the top rail of her canopy bed pointing down to 2 mice playing tug of war with a chocolate bar ON TOP of the plug in device.. they merely stared at me and continued there little chocolate debate. I moved everything from in front of the device..checked to make sure it was plugged in correctly..wiped the skirting surrounds with peppermint oil and bribing my teenager down from the roof with internet privileges walked out confident that this time it would work..the following morning i stumbled out for my morning cuppa to find all 4 of my children hudled asleep on the dining room table!.. i woke them demanding an explanation to this unusal choice of slumber. My 14 year old began this explanation with .. well i woke up in the middle of the night because my laptop started beeping and i looked onto my bedside table to find 3 mice lit up with the red lights from the keyboard dragging the mouse plugin thing across it looking like 3 deranged zombie mice. She then said she ran to one of her sisters rooms to seek refuge only to find a big mother mouse and her spawn asleep nestled on the doona next to her sisters head.. she woke both her siblings in the room scooping them up in her arms and running with them to the next bedroom like she was saving them from a house fire.. her and 2 sisters sat hudled together onto the sofabed in the babys room only to hear a tiny baby voice say..ooo lookie sissy theres dancing mousies on my sing sing (cot mobile).. she looked over to the cot and swears to this day that on top of the babys mobile that was playing twinkle twinkle little star and lit up with multicoloured lights was a rodent rave.. several small furry vermin shaking there butts and swinging from the platic shapes like kids at Disney land tanked on fairyfloss. They were going to run to my room but they had by this time decided that i was probably tied to the bed.. Gullivers travel style with an ultrasonic big cheese plug in stuffed in my mouth while a million mice high on peppermint oil had a dance party on my very possibly now dead body..so they decided to wait it out tilll morning on the dining room table pushed out onto the middle of the kitchen until help would arrive... before i could utter a word in response to this tale my oldest daughter says..mum get the ratsack

but would do big swarms through the house (talking in the hundreds) -like in an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Don't like using any chemicals but tried every ant bait and spray there is, but when the old nests died, more ants would just move in, clear out the dead ones and take over from there. Same with neighbours houses.

I spoke to someone who had bought one of these repellers (dual) to get rid of mice in their post office, and they noticed that all the ants were gone too. So I bought one of the dual action units and plugged it in - and within two days all ants had vanished! They are still trying to set up camp in outside paving and verandah posts but don't come any further. Go figure - think outside the square.

To date working fine – We have had rats in and out of our roof for years - I have used ratsack to keep them under control which has resulted in deaths in the roof and the resulting smell but they still come back. minutes which is usually enough to keep me awake seething for hours through the night. In desperation I thought I would give one of these Big Cheese Advanced ultra sonic deterrents a go. Plugged it in on Sunday night and at 1:30 in the morning we heard the rat return but it left immediately - impressed! The rat didn't return for 4 nights then again we heard it come into the roof and again leave immediately. Initially I had plugged the unit into an extension lead an put it in the roof near to where I thought my nocturnal friend kept returning. That was just over a week ago. I have now taken the unit out of the roof space and plugged it into a power outlet again near where the rat seemed to be. I am hoping to now continue to sleep peacefully without that nighmare scratching noise.

Update - it is now early October and still no rats - I really think these things work!!

This is a brilliant product – We live in a home that is well over a hundred years old and in the middle of a bush reserve. It was derelict when we took it over. recently when we discovered it was no longer working. Not bad for 3 years protection from them. We also put one under the house which has stopped the mice coming in. HIGHLY recommended. You just have to use it wisely.

Works as part of a program – The Guy at Bunnings sold this to me as part of a program. He said if you have lots of mice already you need to get them gone, Then use this to keep them out. We are rural area with mice. after a bit of trapping now have a couple of these in the house and the shed. none have come back inside.

I have been using some similar Pest repellers for many years - with great results – I have been using a few similar repellers for many years with great results. One thing I do do, is move these units around every month or so, so the electro-magnetic field is different plus the sonic noise is also different. Lizard was really affected. I also have one in a large metal garden shed and it never has anything inside it. I do get rats or mice occasionally in My other sheds but I use baits to kill them.. lol. I have not had any mice or anything else in My house since using these units. I put one in another sons apartment that had a lot of cockroaches, the next door tenants mentioned soon after that they were over run with cockroaches... lol

If only it did what it said – The product test confirmed this product was working. I bought multiple devices, after three months I thought they should have worked by now. Mice ran over and under the actual device. The devices made no difference. I returned the devices and got a Big Cheese baited mouse trap and rat trap, they haven't worked either. Bunnings actively support the manufacturer in deceiving the public – this product is non-functional and will not deliver to its intended purpose - Bunning despite knowing this actively stock and condone - plugged it in, but i see no effect - as well as every review indicates that the product has NEVER worked  Show details

The noise. Terrible. Effectiveness? Dunno – From the get go this thing makes an audible noise. It’s intermittent, irritating and not what it says on the tin. Furthermore, I’m pretty sure the mice are still here. So even though the IFU say it takes up to 28 days, I’m not having this thing plugged in, wasting electricity, beeping and driving me insane, if it’s not going to get rid of rodents sooner. REPELLER - NO WAY – REPELLER - NO WAY - it is like a candied covered invitation to four legged rats and mice. the volume of rat-crap in an area that has two of these electronic things plugged in is (subjectively) more than what I have seen without any mouse repellent mechanisms. gets less than a star. Show details

Waste of money – This review is for a related product “The Big Cheese Mouse And Rat Attractant” Going back to bunnings to ask for my money back. This product is not “More effective than cheese” Mice simply ignored it for three days. Once replaced with cheese on the traps, it worked a treat within hours.

Doesn't work – Product is useless. Doesnt seem to bother or stop rats. If anything, they have increased in number. Followed the instructions, nothing blocking the sensor etc. Rats just pass by it and sit within a few meters chewing away.

Big Cheese Advanced Pest Repeller – Waste of money!!! I've had 2 set up for over a month...last night the rats were having a party in my roof....this cost $100 for 2...even the snap traps don't work!!! big cheese products are crap.

Total waste of money – Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing a triple pak. Sonic plugged into power point and mouse still happily eats away at my silicone utensils not 12 inches away.

Ineffective – After a week in use the mouse us still going strong and in my opinion worth less I am very disappointed as I purchased it. And was hoping for a quick erradiction.

Horrible – Do not waste your money Does not work at all mouse ate peanut straight off device even after a week of being on continuously and has attracted flies in swarms

Big Cheese – This product caused electrical problems in our house- flickering of lights in the microwave oven and a sandwich toaster which doesn't work anymore. Not worth the risk of expensive electrician call out fees. Alarm bells rang when I went to the website and there is no phone contact- this is concerning. Do not buy the product.

Sounds like a rat mating call – The packet says “ ultrasound you can’t hear it nor your pets”. It sounds like a rat screeching mating call, I don’t know if I can sleep at night I dream with rats.

Loud!!!!! – I bought this product a month ago and plugged it into my hallway. It seemed grest for the first few weeks but now it sounds like a mouse snoring!!!!!! I would almost rather be hearing mice in the walls (Which I do still hear some of) rather than this annoying squeaky sound radiating through the house every 2 seconds!!!! Absolute waste of money. Very upset with the outcome as we are apparently not supposed to be able to hear it!!!

Rats to you – Does not work, purchased Big Cheese Advanced Pest Repeller & for a week or so seemed to be doing its job, but alas no, the rats have come back & don't seemed disturbed by this unit at all. I convinced Mum & Dad to get one also but they unplugged theirs because it caused the dog to go a bit crazy. Would I recommend this type or brand of product; NO! Luckily I kept my receipt so back to Bunnings to request a refund.

Waste of money, doesn't work – I bought two at Bunnings for over $90. I put cheese right in-front of one, overnight, for three nights. The cheese was eaten every time. What a waste of money and plastic. Don't buy this.
