One of my favourite online bookstores
It baffles me to see so many negative reviews... I have been using Book Depository for YEARS and have ordered countless books through the company. I have (of course) run into rare problems in the past, ranging from delayed delivery to lost purchases but they are so far and few in between that it almost bares no mention. EVERY issue I have encountered is 100% of the time time resolved swiftly, be it a full refund or replacement.
This site is one of the cheapest when it comes to new books and, on top of that, offers it's customers free shipping....

Ok so i'm looking at these reviews and you have to ask yourself the question what's wrong with the picture clearly there are a lot of people having trouble rating the service at 1 star that ;
1. Haven't received their purchase .
2. Haven't received their refund .
3. Are clearly having trouble with this company
For starters they have no tracking service with orders so its literally impossible tracing anything and I'm starting to encounter the same thing they told someone else about checking with the postal service for starters the postal ser...vice leave something in the mail box not everyone is stupid oh and your being eyeballed by the british authorities now so if your running a scam the game is up amigos . I'll be waiting till wensday then ill be calling a "friend" at scotland yard so think seriously about "helping" everyone with their order if you know what i mean ? .
My experience with book depository
I have ordered a total of 14 books which is a total worth of $308 dollars AUD which was dispatched 24th September from the UK and the time frame that they said it was going to come was 5-8 days it is now 4th october and still no books. I contact them asking where my books are and they say to check if my local post office is holding anything for me, so i call them and ask but because their is no tracking number they can't do anything so they check if any packages hav...
Takes order, waits a week, then cancels without reason
Won't be using this business again, especially considering the other options out there. Ordered a book that was listed as available for dispatch - paid, and received confirmation. A few days later, received an email from the payment provider that my money was being refunded. No explanation from book depository, however book was still listed as available. Figured it was a mistake, and re-ordered. (book price had gone up since..) Same thing happened again, money returned a few days later. Really curious now - even though book price had gone up ...a second time, re-ordered. And, surprise surprise, order cancelled, again. Still available on site, and laughably, the price has now increased a third time! What a joke. Still waiting to hear back from customer service, guess there is none of that either..
Lost my return and refused refund
I accidentally bought a CD audiobook from these con artists 2 months ago. I returned it 6 weeks ago. They are claiming they never received it and refusing a refund. I don’t believe they never received it - I think they’ve lost it.
So I spent $35 on a CD audio book I never wanted and can’t even play. I followed their instructions and sent back the item costing a further $10. They now claim they haven’t received it. I just don’t believe them. I will never buy from these guys again.
Got what I wanted
I didn't hear much about my order from Book Depository after a few days so thought I would check some reviews online. When I saw all the poor reviews on Product Review I thought I'd just wasted my money. But then I got an email saying it was on it's way and lo and behold there it was in my mailbox. So pretty satisfied since I got what I wanted.
customer service is close to non-existent
Ordered a book on the 6th of September, and it “was despatched” a day or two after. It has never arrived. Have made several, possibly close to ten attempts to contact them. I had received one reply, asking if the address was correct. I confirmed and have heard nothing back. I have since requested an Australia Post tracking number as my local depot has no record of a package arriving. There is no reply. I have now requested for a refund and vow never to use book Depository again.
They have been good in the past, but I am assuming a corporate structure has ruined a once great alternative to Amazon.
Maybe I might go back to buying from booktopia.
Anyway, look elsewhere for your books!
Excellent Customer Service
I ordered a box-set online and received it in a timely fashion. When I opened the books, I noticed on one of back pages of one of the books had a tear. I wasn't worried about this but thought I would contact them to give them a heads up in case it was a manufacturing issue and to be ware. The lady I communicated with via email was lovely and helpful. I sent them in a photo as requested and let them know I was just giving them a heads up. They ended up kindly sending me out a new set of books free of charge which also arrived quickly. I have and will continue to purchase from The Book Depository online and suggest them to my friends and fam.
Poor/not contactable service/does not accept order email address
When I put my order in I thought it was an Australian company. It appears to be owned now by Amazon who hit my card with an International fee. The item should have been 3 to 4 days delivery. It is now 9 days and NO contact can be made.
Book not received and no help from the company about what will happen next.
Order a book and was advised that it was shipped on the 30th August. Still to receive it. It took 5 emails before they would even respond. They just wanted verification of the address I have given it to them three times but now the 14th September and no book and no answers. Looking at previous reviews it would appear that this is the disappointing standard of service from this company.

Ordered books 2 months ago living in South Africa still no delivery. Any ideas?
It is best to email book depository and enquire about where your books are , you need to give them your order details and they will be able to advise if they are on back order , unavailable or on way to you . I’m in Australia and have always received mine quite quickly .
