Staff were second to none! – The Shower Doctor should be commended and, proud, to have team members who are so dedicated to the job. From the initial contact, through to the quotation and, the actual work, we were impressed with the professionalism. The young man who came to do the work stayed for 12 hours on the first day to ensure we would have the use of our main bathroom… Read more
when he was completing the work on the ensuite. He stopped for the shortest of breaks and returned the following morning in the am to commence work again. If I have a negative it is due to what I believe was a miscommunication in relation to removing and replacing silicone and a small amount of mould behind our main bathrooms sinks - he did this in the ensuite where we had not requested same. They did not request payment prior to the work being done therefore; if anyone is unhappy with their work I am certain they would have ensured rectification was completed prior to expecting payment. In relation to the reviews that are shown, I find this hard to believe, it is not often that you can get people to write reviews and I trust the ones shown are not detrimental to their business.
Very bad employer – Worked for this company in admin many years ago. Todd was a nightmare to work for - he constantly made us write fake positive reviews and paid us minimum wage. He would also go missing for days and become aggressive for no reason. Company also short paid me.
Very unhappy – I can completely agree with the negative reviews. I worked for them in the admin section and I never got paid my super. Todd was an absolute jerk. They expected to pay close to minimum wage to babysit their contractors and everything else associated with admin and then complain about us when things went wrong. I hope this company went tits up! That will at least allow me some pleasure for the superannuation I missed out on.
Completely dodgy – Looks like the shower doctor have shut up shop. Hardly surprising, their tradies were crap, their customer service equally crap and I have a year old bathroom that needs numerous repairs. I'll get a real tradie to fix them up thanks!
How do you contact them? – We have warranty work needed but there 1300 number does not work / is not connected? We had the Shower Doctor come out in 2016 when they were still affiliated with Renovation Riot. However, we can't make contact now with the Showeer Doctor (originally in Camberwell. Vic) to discuss our warranty job. How do you contact them please?
Poor customer service – The Shower Doctor quoted a price on the day of the appointment at my rental property. Expected payment on the day once job was completed. This was in practical as it's a rental property and I work. All I asked from The Shower Doctor was to give me a day to return to the rental to inspect the job. The excuse they used was "They were busy". Why did… Read more
they bother to come in the first place to give me a quote. Don't bother with this company if they don't allow you to inspect their work. Not highly recommended. I am glad that they did not do the job and found someone else, honest reliable and did a great job.
Terrible service - save yourself the hassle – Used the Shower Doctor previously and all seemed well to start. Half way through and after they received a majority of their money they stop turning up, answering calls or emails. Became a nightmare and had to get someone else in to finish the job.
Bad – Fact I worked for this company. Fact I totally agree with all reviews detailing how [Name Removed] and his office staff make up excusses and lie directly to clients. Fact [Name Removed] ripped me off $1550.00 and countless other trades which I found out when doing work for another bathroom renovation company (Fact). If he treats the people who… Read more
do the work(In my case a very high standard of work) with no respect or moral. I say BEWARE and stay well clear. NOT TO BE TRUSTED
They know their stuff – Our upstairs shower was leaking under the hob. Water was puddling onto the floor...I had plumbers, tilers and a builder inspect with no resolution. We had Todd come out and look at it. He knew what the issue was, where the water was coming through and how to fix it. I'm stocked, the shower was fixed in 1/2 hour and a follow up call to check on it was received. I'd recommend these guys 100%. Thanks!!!
Unprofessional – They came before Christmas to quote on a job. When we tried to book them in, they were nowhere to be found. Did not return phone calls. We finally got hold of them this week, only to have them cancel twice. There are others out there more deserving of your money.
The award for the worse company goes to – After reading all the reviews on here I have decided I should save someone money and heartache and tell my story. Last year I stupidly had work done by the shower doctor. They… Read more
charged me $500 to seal and re silicon my shower as water was leaking into the adjacent rooms. The elusive Todd and his water detector machine told me that once they did this... problem over. Months later the surrounding rooms were still showing signs of moisture. He sent a guy out who said there were areas they had missed and he would fix the problem. While he was there he cracked a tile and water literally poured out from the wall. Todd came out 20 days later had a look said we would have to remove the tiles. He left and promised to ring me back in 15 mins. That was 29th Feb 2016 so almost a year later and still no phone call.
We rang and spoke to various receptionist who all promised to get right onto him and he would be in contact. He never did. Asked for our money back but still no contact. They are the worst company Ive ever had to deal with. I am writing this late because I couldn't be bothered before but after telling everyone about how bad they were on social media, friends and family, everyone said the experience should be told as they have got away with it.
We did remove all the tiles in the end and guess what....a leaking pipe! Todd and his water detector machine hey.
I can't believe how he is not embarressed with all the reviews. Its a catalogue of errors. He never rings back yet he has an excuse for everyone that reviews his shoddy work. No doubt he will reply to this with excuses. He has also started a business called Renovation Riot. Another company to avoid at all cost. ( I can only submit this is I give it a rating. )
Warranty – I have been waiting for the doctor's response now for over 2 months for a warranty claim as the grout in my shower didn't get filled properly. I have emailed them twice and phoned over 5 times not good enough The Shower Doctor in Melbourne.

Dreadful customer service – Be prepared to have to chase everything up as it is not offered. It took them four months to complete my parents shower but would have taken longer had they not called when they were fed up (they called several times). They did a decent job when it was finally finished so I decided to contact them for a quote when doing my own bathroom renovation.… Read more
Four weeks later and still no quote despite chasing it up myself (suffice to say I no longer want them to do the job given my parents experience). A word of warning, if they say "oh, didn't you get the email we sent?" don't believe this one as it was used on my parents several times. The other one they used is, "the system was down so your appointment was missed". They used this on myself and my parents. I am not writing this review to be spiteful but to warn of the frustration you are likely to experience by going through the shower doctor..just be prepared for terrible customer service.

Worst experience ever!! – We got the contact from insurance company to fix the water leakage in 3 bathrooms although it is not covered by insurance. They came in promptly for quotation and started work for 2 of the 3. Work quality is not bad. However when 90% is finished they disappeared, no one answered calls or responded emails. then asked for termination of contract and refund, they gave us a surprise bill for the extra work they agreed to do but never mentioned any charge. The rate is crazy too, $80 for putting silicone on the vanity...We argued about this but they didn't reply untill we were going legal action. After 5 months we finally got the refund but short by unreasonable amount. They DON'T care about the customers!!!!

Not worth the hassle – Ordered a shower screen and was asked to confirm size, which I did. It was not made clear to me that the screen would be available in the size I wanted, so I phoned and spoke to a male, who said it "should be ok". I wrote an email the same day asking for confirmation that all was ok. Didn't hear back for 6 weeks, so yesterday I called again. I was… Read more
initially told they weren't sure where my order and details were, however once found, I was then told they'd check whether the screen size could be made and they'd get back to me. I waited over two hours, then decided to ring back to cancel the order, as my bathroom will be ready soon and I need the screen. When I rang to cancel the order, I was told that I had to talk to someone from Accounts, but no-one could help me at that moment. I left my details and asked for someone to call me by the end of the day. That was yesterday. No contact made since.
The impression I get is that there is poor communication amongst staff and very little concern for customer service. Wouldn't go near this company less you have oodles of time on your hands and an endless amount of patience.

Unreliable – I found them very difficult to get them to commit to arrangements to even inspect the potential job, will not be even considering using them.
Rectified – 1. Submitted a website enquiry. 2. Consultant visited at the scheduled time (name removed). 3. Made hole in the wall to feed camera in to inspect shower pipes. 4. Report expected within 24hr. 5. A few follow-up phone calls 6. Consultant followed up and looking to rectify. Some miscommunication on both sides.
So this is why they have to advertise on radio – Of course at this stage I have already had them out and was so impressed with the spiel they gave us about how they were the only company that that could make sure that the shower would never leak and the only company that stood by their warranties etc etc. So I checked the reviews online again, and satisfied myself that they were kosher - In… Read more
addition to this the quote that they gave us appeared quite reasonable...
Throughout the next 7 (originally supposed to be 4) weeks, we found out that they were so cheap because if it didn't include half of the tradespeople who would be invoicing us directly! i.e plumber, electrician, tiler etc.
Anyway I simply put this misunderstanding down to my own ignorance having never gone through a renovation before and figured that even if they were now quite expensive, the quality of the workmanship and the guarantee made up for it.
at the end the bathroom looked ok.
6 months later, the shower started leaking, naturally we called the shower doctor, who said that it was in fact their tilers fault and as he had invoiced us directly we should chase him, the tiler obviously pointed out that we had no contract with him and it should be the shower doctors responsbility! After a lot of backward and forward, no one is covering our warrantee so we contacted the Victorian Builders Association as they can enforce the warranty... except they can't, because the Shower Doctor is not even a Builder!!! and therefore legally shouldn't even be doing jobs worth more than $5,000 and so there is no way to enforce the warranty!
It costs us another 10K to fix and the shower doctor won't even return our calls now!
Would not recommend!!! i see now that all of the good reviews they have on this site are from "new members" wow - what a coincidence. Obviously my friend was right - this is why they have to advertise on radio.
I must point out that there is no factual… Read more
OMG. A real warrantee. Amazing – We had a shower repaired (or so we thought) by a different company than the doctors maybe 8 years ago and were given what we were told was a 25 year guarantee. Needless to say, the original companies work didn't stack up and we were left frustrated and burnt when the problem… Read more · 1
re appeared 3 years later and we were referred to fine print and escape clauses that meant we were on our own. great.
Then we called The Shower Doctors .
I was a bit cheeky when we called on the doctors because i didn't mention anything about the previous work but they picked it up straight away. Refreshingly though, the assessor (who I'm sure is the boss) said nothing bad about the other company and simply just informed me and tried to educate me on the current issue and a new fix.
This was more than 5 years ago but i remember it so well because i wasn't treated like a silly lady and the assessor made every effort to talk openly to both my husband AND I (again, a breath of fresh air) about the underlying issues.
5 years later and we saw a small puddle outside the glass shower screen. From past experience with the other so and so's I was already on edge and called and had a bit of a rant (sorry about that)
To my surprise, we were offered a form to fill out and had an appointment less than a week later for someone to check on the shower leak.
On the spot...this was fixed. No argument. No passing the buck. The guy was really friendly and just got to it.
I didn't think to write a review 5 years ago because I just felt we got good service as we expected. But the true measure of a company for me is how they respond when they need to return to fix something and these guys did that with no hassle at all so here i am tapping away.
The other company wormed out of their responsibility through terms and fine print. The Shower Doctors just got to it and we really could not be happier.
We highly recommend any company that stands by their word like this one.
A terrible experience… – We chose this company as their quote was a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than two other companies and friends had used them and were reasonably happy. The salesperson was helpful, efficient and responsive, and to begin with communication from the office was good – however things soon went badly downhill. The job was supposed to take two… Read more
weeks, but ended up being six weeks until we had a functioning bathroom and 15 weeks until all the work was completed. We have three small children and had arranged to stay elsewhere for the two weeks the job was supposed to take. Needless to say that the next month without a bath/shower or washing machine was very difficult. While a couple of initial delays were outside of the company’s control, these should have meant that the bathroom was functional after three weeks and fully completed after four – not the six and 15 weeks it actually took.
There were numerous problems along the way which contributed to the delays, including sections of the floor tiling having to be pulled up and replaced on two occasions to fix work that had not been undertaken correctly. The bath and vanity were supposed to have exposed chrome pipes, but for some unexplained reason this did not happen and apparently could not be fixed later. Instead, the project manager, to his credit, organised a chrome cuff, which, while better than the visible plastic pipe and hole in the floor, was not what we wanted and what the company had said they would provide. The carpenters also damaged the architraves when they removed them and made a mess of reinstalling them. The worst areas were replaced after I raised the poor workmanship with the company, but the remainder had to be patched by our painter and look worse than before the renovation.
As others have commented, the lack of communication was one of the most frustrating things along the way. I raised concerns about the (mis)management of our job about three weeks in and while I received a prompt response, it was dismissive of my concerns and didn’t result in a speedy completion of our bathroom.
When the work was finally complete, I emailed the company to express my dissatisfaction and ask for a discount give the problems and significant delays. I received a follow up call during which my request was refused, I was told I was being unreasonable and irrational, and I was then hung up on.
The most bizarre thing about this phone conversation was that I was told I should be grateful for the work they had done, as the cost for our renovation should have been $18k rather than $11k. To be clear, the $11k that we paid them was only for stripping the existing bathroom and European laundry (total space 1.8m x 3.8m), re-lining the walls and floor, tiling and fitting out labour, a toilet and the chrome pipework (which we didn’t get). It did not include the tiles, bath, vanity, tap ware, and shower curtain rail – all of which we provided – or the cost of the plumbing, plastering, painting and laundry cabinets – which we paid directly to the tradespeople.
To claim that we should have paid $18k for the work they did do is patently ridiculous and had they quoted that figure to start with we would never have used them. This claim was then repeated in further email correspondence (“It really is a shame when people get a 18k bathroom for 11k but yet can’t thank their lucky stars for the good turn of luck”) while failing to address our principal complaint about the unacceptable length of time the job took.
I am well aware that in any line of work, things don’t always go smoothly. The true test of a company is how they respond and deal with customers when this happens. In that respect, the Shower Doctor has comprehensively failed and I heartily regret not using a different bathroom company.
The only positive thing I have to say is that the tiler, who the Shower Doctor subcontracted, did a really good job and I can recommend his work www.artesanotiles.com
The postscript to my review is that there has been further movement and cracking in our floor. The project manager said he believes it is due to movement in the subfloor (i.e. not their responsibility) and I am awaiting his report on the matter before seeking a second opinion.
My advice is not to risk having an experience like ours and to take your business elsewhere.
These are unfortunately the ridiculous claims… Read more (+1 reply)
Love My Bathroom Now! – I had my 1980s bathroom renovated by The Shower Doctor Team - they took me through the whole process of designing the room, choosing tiles and carrying out all the works. They found some mushrooms inside my walls - YUCK!!! My bathroom is pretty sexy about now - I LOVE IT!!! Show reply

Mixed experiences – We have had two bathrooms renovated by the Shower Doctor, and it's hard to tell they were done by the same company. We chose them because although not the cheapest quote we got, we were impressed by the apparent attention to customer service and high standards of workmanship. Our first experience was excellent. A salesperson helped us think… Read more
through the best bathroom tiles to use and provided samples for us to look at. The job then started on time as planned and was completed smoothly, with good communication from head office about when tradesmen were coming and going and work delivered to a high standard. We were impressed with the result and didn't hesitate to use them again when also fixing our ensuite a few months later.
While technically this should have been a smaller/easier job, it did not go smoothly and what was originally quoted as taking 8 days took almost 2.5 months to finish. The waterproofing was not done to standard and needed to be re-done (which in itself was inconvenient but we were impressed that it was checked and corrected). Tiling was mistakenly undertaken on a bathroom wall which we were not planning on tiling. This increased the size of the job and caused delays as additional tiles needed to be ordered. Tiles were then cracked during installation of the towel rail and needed to be replaced (twice), the shower head leaked when re-installed, the bathroom mirror was broken during installation and needed to be replaced, and the shower screen also needed fixing after installation.
What was most frustrating though during this whole process was the lack of communication from head office. We stopped getting regular SMS/ phonecall updates and increasingly had to call again and again to find out about progress. In some cases a week would pass with no communication, tradesmen wouldn't come as planned with no explanation or would need to leave early only half finishing the job.
A courtesy call from the owner initially helped to relieve our concerns as he reassured us they were doing everything they could to finish the job as quickly as possible however it quickly became apparent this was an empty promise as weeks turned into months. To top it off our request for a discount after what was clearly a sub-standard experience was refused.
Overall, our second experience has unfortunately well out-weighed the positives of the first.

Disappointed – I have to agree with some of the reviews on this site especially about the efficiency with communication. It is one thing that really lets them down. wrong one had been ordered but forgot to ring and let me know that no one would be out. But the icing on the cake is I have complained about a tap that hasn't worked properly in my shower from day one and I have to turn it about three times before any hot water comes out. I spoke to the office and told them that this needed to be rectified before I would settle the account. That was 3 months or more ago. I haven't heard a thing and I did ring several times about organising times. Now i get a debt collectors notice! This is not MY fault but the company's negligence not mine. I did not refuse to pay but said I would pay when the job was finished properly. I am sure if one of the directors of the company had a job done to their property they would do the same if the job wasn't done properly. Utterly unbelievable!!!

Full reconditioning of ensuite shower - Fantastic! – I would like to take this opportunity to thank Shower Doctor for one of the best repair/renovation experiences I have ever had. involved in quoting the job; the demolition of the old shower and tiles and installation of the new waterproofing; the tiler, and the re-fitting of the new shower screen. I wish I could remember all their names : )
ALL the tradesmen were on-time, professional, knowledgeable, efficient, clean and polite. I was also impressed with the attendance of a site supervisor who arrived to check on the workmanship of the tradesman.
Big thanks to their reception staff for their excellent customer service over the phone when it came to advice and invoice settlement.
My shower is like new again. I would recommend to anyone needing work done.
Yet to see these guys – No response to email through website. Long phone conversation led to a long lead time for scheduling a consultation visit; a no show the result anyway. Now looking for an alternative having wasted several weeks waiting for a quotation. Commitment "to provide excellent customer service" questionable.
