Deceiving – I recently found out that TID does not cover scooter insurance in Thailand unless you hold an Australian motorcycle license. However, under Thai law, a valid driver's license is all that's required to ride a scooter. This loophole allows TID to avoid claims, and I feel that this is a deceptive practice. Be cautious when dealing with this company –… Read more
their terms are not as transparent as they should be, be very careful with this mob they will do anything to get out of paying but make it look like you are covered
Good – I was impressed with TID. We were charged by our car rental for a flat tire and when I lodged the paperwork the claim was assessed and paid within 3 days. Show details · 1
misleading – I patiently waited for TID to begin again last year for my 4 th travel insurance cover with them . This year my enquiry to phone consultant was misleading. She began by quoting a higher price than expected, when i asked her if this is 'The Works' policy, she admitted it was. I had to then direct her to the other TID policy option 'Basic' that i… Read more
knew of. A shame really that they are directed to sell the higher priced policy first without informing the caller of the cheaper policy option.

Not worth it – As stated in their response: ""Under section “Cancellation and additional expenses” your policy provides coverage for when a loss occurs due to one of the defined events listed under this section of the policy. Under this section, there is no event listed that will cover a cancelled flight due to Engineering requirements."" If you're one of the… Read more
many people who's flights (Jetstar) have gotten delyayed or cancelled due to the above and incur costs i don't recommend this company.

COVID-19 killed the trip but TID made it okay – Used TID for at least 2 overseas trips a year for many years in the past with no issues setting up and feeling confident with a great value policy. Requested cancellation of policy due to COVID-19 with a special request for refund. Absolutely delighted with outcome thank you. Can only hope the VIRUS is resolved in time for us to do some more travel and guess who we will be insuring with. Show details
Don’t waste your money, TID do not accept claims – As you can see mostly one star here and on Google review, they do not accept any claim. They refuse always with an excuse to do not have responsibility or do not cover what you claim. Show details

13 policies 1 claim - no payment! – My sons girlfriend recently went to Portugal. Upon arrival her bag did not appear. That was in August. She never got her bag and did all the required paperwork with the airline immediately. She contacted TID and was told to keep receipts for any essentials she bought. She was away for 5 weeks and spent approximately 350Euro buying toiletries,… Read more
underwear, clothing and a pair of shoes as she literally had nothing. She submitted her claim to TID for roughly $2300. She was insured for up to $10,000 lost luggage. After a ridiculous amount of time calling TID over the past 3 months and not ever receiving a return call (until today) despite numerous promises she was finally offered 25% of her claim as a goodwill payment. For example, that is $25 for a suitcase that she conservatively valued at $100. This is apparently reasonable wear and tear and depreciation . I requested an escalation and was offered 50% almost immediately - I was informed that normal procedure is to initially offer 25% and when escalated it is increased to 50%. No where in the PDS are these figures mentioned - just a vague statement about depreciation. I requested an independent review. I received a call today (1st call in 3 months). Now it gets even more unbelievable. As she doesn't have receipts AND proof of ownership for the contents she is not eligible for ANYTHING!! and remember the 350Euro for essentials she purchased when she was away? - not eligible for anything there either. Why? That only applies to luggage that is temporarily lost.......When it is permanently lost it comes under section 14 blah blah blah..... I cant even begin to understand this. Even if she DID have receipts for everything in her bag, the receipts must be proven to belong to her and then reasonable wear and tear and depreciation would still apply!!!!!! The airline are yet to respond in any way financially either. How on earth is this reasonable? What is she meant to do now? Who has receipts for everything in their luggage?

Very Happy – I was happy to know TID insurance was there even though I didnt need it. My trip went smoothly and I was thrilled to spend quality time with my daughter and newest granddaughter. Thanks for being there if I needed you. Show details
No more worries when travelling overseas – I thought the initial price was fair for $100 excess but never thought i would actually need it. Unfortunately my daughter ingested something contaminated and had to be admitted to hospital for 3 days. I knew it would be expensive and emailed TID to see if they could cover the costs for me. After a couple of emails they managed to contact me… Read more
through the hospital phone with a doctor who talked with the local doctor over the phone. They rang every day to see how my daughter was and if she would need any more treatment. We were able to stay in a room to accomadate me, my wife and daughter so we could stay with her and all costs including the medicines to take home were covered. All staff were friendly and quickly resolved an issue, when the hospital tried charging me the bill, that had already been guaranteed for payment. I will always use TID from now on.
Cannot fault, EXCELLENT service when something goes wrong - which it did for me. Zero pushback, 100% professional – I had some moderately bad ear issues for 3 months of my policy. I had to contact numerous times and make several claims. The emergency medical assistance team is super quick and productive in their responses. Their claims team is likewise very professional. There is a reason why their reviews are so high. Very appreciative of their modus… Read more · 1
operandum. Special thanks to Margaret Marko who was superb in emergency assist, and, Dylan Copeland in claims. 10/10 operators. Policy# TIDAUS19524699
Great service, easy to use – I've been using TID for a few years now and find piece of mind knowing that my travel is covered with an Australian based insurer. Show details · 1
Great price for the cover included – I haven’t had to make a claim, thankfully, but the price for the coverage I required was great. Especially the medical cover as we were going overseas to China followed by a cruise. Show details · 1
Never going to use TID again, as they go with Cerberus – I lost my phone overseas, this was already trouble enough as I had only got it a month before my trip. Instead of helping me with the service they claim to provide, I was greeted with a 'too bad, so sad'. They would not cover my claim as I had "all reasonable precautions to safeguard the items you have claimed for have not been taken". This is… Read more
what I get for going to another country to help those in need. Don't bother with insurance if they are just going to pocket your money and shut you off.

Know better, choose better.
Always select TID when I need a travel insurance – Choosing a travel insurance company can be time consuming and a bit of pain, but it's not the case for me as I always go with TID. They are straight forward and cover what I need! Show details
Security leading up to travel – Great holiday, did not need to make a claim. But the lead up to leaving was stressful as my wife had a small operation on her hand, followrd by a minor healing issue. The doctor only gave her permission to travel overseas two days before we left. It was comforting to know that if we could not fly out at least we could replan our trip and fly out later without the financial worry of paying twice. Thanks TID Show details · 1
very good – TID is definitely competitive with other insurance companies - I got offers from several which we turned down in favour of TID. On last year's trip to S Africa I was mugged and robbed, kept my receipts and TID paid up in full. Which went a long way to making up for the mugging. Show details · 1
Travel in China and dealing with Chinese is an "Adventure" – Felt safe as always with TID cover for our trip. Policy was a breeze to setup as usual. Did not require to make a claim but had our accommodation "dis-honored" as Chinese Hotel has no arrangement with a well known "on-line" accommodation provider. Wondered if TID cover such events. Ended up with a great holiday however as hotel offered equivalent room and negotiated a reasonable package. Show details · 1
Necessary Evil – It's a must have item when traveling just to safe guard against having a problem overseas. I've used TID now for many years and haven't ever had the need to claim but the policy is easy to set up and apply for on line. Show details · 1
Piece of Mind, easy insurance – I have just returned from another trip which I used Travel Insurance Direct for my coverage. I did not make a claim this time. I have however in the past made a claim with them and the experience was relatively smooth and trouble free. Purchasing the insurance is online, fast and easy. Their app is also useful as it knows your destination and… Read more · 1
provides useful tid bits about where you are holidaying. If you cant afford travel insurance, you cant afford to holiday. This inexpensive easy option provides the necessary piece of mind.
On-line made easy, prompt payment – While not a fan of on-line claims, the process was quite painless and the claim was processed efficiently and with no fuss or question. You always need your paper work as proof but this is the second claim I have made and thus far all I can say is that TID have been easy to deal with and I will definitely be taking out my 4th policy with them later this year. Easy reassuring and excellent coverage – very satisfied as I had to extend the travel insurance dates, Staff were friendly and very helpful. Extremely easy to complete the online policy and the cover is second to none. We have used TID often and will be using it again. Show details · 1
Great, no hassles – I've used TID before. Once again they've taken the hassle out of getting insurance on the go. My ski policy was great value, and it was simple to sign up for! Show details · 1
Always Feel Secure with TID – This was our third policy with TID. As always was easy to set up and very good value. In the past have relied solely on credit card-provided coverage but now don't travel without a TID policy. Show details · 1
