Legendary Reliable, they didn't lie about this – Best car I've ever had since was a student. I bought it as a pre-owned with 67,000 on clock. Now it's 170,000 but super smooth. Credits on you TOYOTA good job!

Economical Running – Drive week days to work 162km, mostly freeway only 5 traffic lights to negotiate each way. Uses 7.2L/100km on freeways, about 9L/100km city driving. Service personnel report vehicle is in good condition. Very good suspension really solid even when gone into big potholes, tyre service personnel reports not having to do alignment. Interior is doing well after 10 years. Seats have not sagged after 144,000 km of driving. Show details

I purchased my XV40 camry touring secondhand back in December 2021 from a dealership, it then had approx 118,000km on the odometer when it was purchased, since then it did need a little bit of work to get it in excellent running condition as this car wasn't perfect from the start, I highly believe this is mostly due to neglect from previous… Read more

ownership.

The work that needed to be done were things such as brake fluid flush as the fluid was contaminated causing the brakes to feel very spongy, coolant flush as it turned acidic, new tint due to the original tint flaking, new brake rotors and pads as the ones that were on the car warped terribly and needed a new alternator as it died while driving to work (this happened 1 yr later during ownership).

This car gets used for everyday commuting to and from work, weekend runs and occasionally long country runs and this camry drives really well and behaves as expected for a family mid-size sedan, steering has good feedback without being very heavy, it's composed over bumps, the ride is on the more comfortable side, which does mean it leans a little bit in the bends, but I personally prefer a comfortable ride, the 2.4l (2AZ-FE) engine and 5 speed automatic transmission work together to be smooth operator, it's not the most powerful engine by any means, especially by today's standards, but it does get the job done and has been mostly reliable in all my driving conditions.

Toyota claims the XV40 camry's service intervals are every 15,000km or 1yr whichever is first, however due to the heavy use of this camry, I personally have it service every 10,000km or 6 months whichever comes first, this in my opinion will help as the car gets more milage on it to prevent issues such as oil buring. I generally have the air filter changed every 20,000 to 25,000km and have the cabin filter changed out every 30,000km. The car has currently done a little over 200,000km and during each service interval, no major mechanical issues have been found.

Overall I have been very happy with this camry, its not a perfect car for everyone, however if you are looking for a secondhand mid-size sedan that is reliable and easy to live with then this car may be a good choice.

Don't worry about the synergy engine – I bought a Toyota Camry hybrid in 2010 as one of the earliest and perhaps most brave customers in Perth. Due to lousy quality issues with Toyota products, which resulted in a bad wiser being put into this car (the wiser's light wasn't going off and it would stay of for ever draining the battery, also the wiser's connection was broken too). The… Read more

last thing you like to see is to come to start your few months old car's engine to go to work and see nothing works. Anyway it took a number of visits to Toyota shop, meeting people who really wanted to help but couldn't identify the issue, until finally by chance the problem was found by the branch manager. Unfortunately nobody pays for your time when it is wasted on fixing things that are under warranty!

Anyways the problem solved and I got to drive this car with no problem so far in 2017.

My main concern was the huge synergy battery in the boot, which seems to be working fine so far. It has 10 years warranty.

Camry offers a huge space and some of the latest gadgets, but it is kind of toy car, good for family trips and gentle driving.

I believe Camry's gear box, suspension system and its handling aren't well design. But thanks to Toyota many people can drive their family around with minimum cost.

Toyota will remain favourite to many people.

Toyota reliability at its best! – the car is lovely to drive. Its refined and quiet and road noise is very minimal. The performance is adequate from the engine but you dont buy a car like this for power. Handling is predictable and safe for a fwd so nothing special there. Get the aurion if you like power and speed. The interior is modern and comfortable (im 175cm) and the… Read more

quality is better than most other makes. Everyhing holds up really well. HOWEVER my dash does have a rattle and lots of owners have the sticky dash issue which toyota will replace if your affected vehicle is less than 10 years old. Other than that the interior is great no issues nothing faulty inside.

Now mechanically, this car is a true testament to toyota reliablilty. I really do believe the running gear is the best, the engines are strong and the gearboxes are unbreakable. I have clocked up 190,000 without a single failure of any component!! Only thing ever needed changing was the battery and tires. Im still on the same brakes and rotors.. I service the vehicle every 6 months regardless of km.

TOYOTA ALTISE 2010 – I bought this car brand new. Worst thing I ever did. When I picked it up, by the time I got home I noticed a rattle coming from the car. It was hard to work out what it actually was and where it was coming from. I took it back to the dealer. He yelled at me asking why I had tried to take the door off lol Well I told him I didnt, he didnt… Read more

believe me and was so rude. Apparently the door was loose, this should of been a warning something was wrong with this car. After picking it up I was driving home from work down the Toowoomba range (very steep hill) and I noticed the car was vibrating badly. I took it back to the dealer and he said there was nothing wrong with it. I took it to Goodyear to get it checked out and they said I needed new discs errr what its a brand new car!! I again took it back to the dealer and told them what Good year said and they laughed and brushed it off said there was nothing wrong with the car. I ignored the vibration cos by this stage I was just sick to death of them brushing me off. I got a flat down at the end of the range grrrhhhh. The cars tyre and rim was stuck I couldnt get it off and had to call Road side assist. The bolts had rusted completely on the wheel, the poor guy had to almost break the bolts to get them off, which proved that the dealership had never rotated the tyres when it was serviced. So I decided to take the car else where to get it serviced. I told the the guys about the vibration of the vehicles front end that Toyota ignores. So he gave me a wheel alignment and a wheel balance. Didnt do anything, vibration was still there. IN the end coming down the Toowoomba range again the car lost control of its steering. Was so dangerous I pulled over without hitting someone, which was amazing. The car was then towed to Toowoomba dealership and the rare toe adjuster had completely snapped and told me I was lucky to be alive. They refused to fix it under warranty stating that I must of hit a curb lol (I hadnt, I dont have curbs where I park nor in my 200 mtr driveway). I no longer felt safe driving this car. I took it to Pedders in Ipswich to have a very good look at it. When I picked it up they told me that the front left hand side strut was almost at a right angle and that I must of had a major accident in the car. Hmm nope. He said that I couldn't of bought the car new and it must of been a demo, again I said no. I took it back to Toyota, again they refused to fix it and said that it was within their guidelines. I had to pay to get it fixed myself. If that wasnt bad enough. Coming down the range again the car simply died. I rang up Road side assist again and he told me the cars motor was stuffed and again the car was towed back to Toyota. Again the refused to fix it. I threw the keys at them and walked away. I paid $38000 for this hunk of crap, due to the issues with the car they only got $12000 for it. I went out and bought a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer 1 yr older and have it till this day. Never skipped a beat and paid half the price for it and it was a hired car haha. I have always owned a Toyota. Never ever again In the market now for a newer car. Its hard to say no to a lancer but the car hasn't changed much over the years and want something different. Shame or I would of bought another one. Verdict, this car is a hunk of crap. Toyota do not honor their warranties. Car was less than 12 mths old and had only done 88000km haha according to the malfunctioning taco, which they claim there was nothing wrong with. Had my Lancer now for 7yrs and has done just over 150,000, what does that tell you? If you are looking for a used vehicle go with a Lancer and keep away from these cars, my friends has done over 300000km and still doesnt have to put oil in it unlike my Old Corolla which had done 100 000km after 5yrs. Never ever buy a car from Ross llewellyn Toyota in ipswich Qld

Toyota Reliability – Have been using Toyota Camry Touring for a year and as known for Toyota it has great reliability with only basic maintenance of oil/filters change. fuel economy is average depending on how you drive and power is more than enough for the Australian roads. Only disadvantage is when driving on slippery roads you feel the car as if it slips off with… Read more

the road a bit and requires a firm grip on the steering wheel (even after tyres rotation and wheel alignment), an issue which was not noticed with my previous Toyota Corolla 2005, and Toyota Aurion 2008. However, got used to it after a while and have not seen any other issue with the car since the date of purchase.

Just OK – Had my Camry Altise 2010 for about 12-18 months now and it seems to drive ok however I find the gear change to lag and the brake assist to kick in way too hard down hills. uncomfortable I have had to go out and buy back support lumbars for it. I don't like the way you have to open the boot to put the back seats down and I dislike that I cannot lock my car while I'm inside of it. What happens if I get attacked at a stop light? I wouldn't buy another Camry again however Toyota are good cars in terms of reliability and mechanically built very sturdy.

Its okay but there are some pretty bad problems – The car is a 2007 Toyota Camry Altise and it looks okay and is nice to sit in, but driving is a problem with the back window being really small with no reverse camera or sensors, there are huge rear blind spots which make changing lanes risky. The car feels well powered but the automatic transission feels sluggish and hessitant. I would recommend… Read more

Robust and reliable car! – I enjoy driving my Toyota Camry Altise for a while! It is performing reliably and can be handled easily. I really like the exterior design, however the interior design is boring nothing special. I service the car twice a year (nearly every 10K), the main repair is on consumable (mainly tires). It consumes around 10-11 per 100 K in the city and 8-9 on the road (Highway). It has really spacy boot, which becomes handy in Roadtrip.  Show details
