Trip.com is a nightmare
Trip.com is a nightmare. You should always avoid taking Tickets and reservation with Trip.com. I have ended having two tickets for the same flight on the same date with same passport. I have not even got a refund for the wrong booking. There site for booking is crap and better be aware about my situation.
Absolutely the worse experience in my life!!! I have booked tickets for months in advance from Phuket to Sydney for 11th Jan 2020. The day before my flight trip.com e-mailed me with information that my flight from Kuala Lumpur was changed for 15 hours earlier than planned so it will go earlier than my transition flight from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur, so I won’t be able to make it so I need to call them to reschedule my flight. I couldn’t call but e-mailed back and then horror begun. I was sending e-mails asking for help and rebooking and had 3 dif...ferent people replying, each with different information for me. They also told me that they cant do anything because I’m checked in for my flight and first I need to reverse my check in before they can help me... reversing checking was not possible in Air Asia as none of contact ways with them works so I was keeping mailing trip.com asking for new flight but nobody helped me. They kept asking me to call them but from Thai SIM card I bought that night was not possible to connect with them. I had my last night of holidays completely destroyed trying to talk with trip.con but their customer service has level ZERO!!!!!!! Finally my booking was cancelled and I got e-mail confirmations for everything. The next day when I was sure my original flight was already gone as they informed me that is gone, my booking got cancelled and I was waiting for new flight dates, while I was in hospital sick in Phuket they e-mailed me suddenly that actually my flight is going normally!!!!! But it was too late for me to get to airport when I read message and take this flight after all misleading information from them and information my flight is gone....... nobody even bother themselves to call in this case!!!!!! Or after to reply to my detail emails afterwards and nobody ever helped me or booked new flight for me. I needed to go back home on my own cost, paying for ticket triple price I did originally and nobody there even cared!!!!! They just took money, cancelled my flight which was not even true and after I didn’t catch my flight because of them, they just left me with no help, without tickets back home in Phuket. They destroyed my holidays completely which I saved for long time and needed to borrow money from my friend for flight back home. Was asking their customer service to call me when I couldn't get true, I sent my phone number to 2 of their consultants but nobody did that either. I was absolutely in shock how companies can treat people. Never ever again and I will tell everybody and everywhere how horrible they are. Don’t risk buying tickets with this website. Disgusting!!!!!!!
If an attraction/hotel etc pays enough then Trip.com will simply not publish anything negative. Tried to post a honest review and it kept getting rejected so I just changed it to 5 stars without changing the wording and all of a sudden it was acceptable
Dishonest, do not use
Ideally I wish I couldn't give them any stars. Our last booking to Hamilton Island they missed an entire night, which we spent 3 days calling and emailing about, while on our honeymoon. When it was finally resolved they moved us to a different hotel, attempting to sell it as an upgrade, which it was not as it was a lower quality room and they removed our breakfast from the booking, so we had to cover the cost. We had paid $585 per night. We had to move rooms twice, and were advised they would cover the cost of breakfasts, but have since come back to say they no longer can. I do not recommend using this company as I found them dishonest and untrustworthy, and will never use their services again.
How long does it take to process a refund?
I booked a one way flight through trip.Com flight from syd - auck and then auck - raro. Well that didnt happen because my connecting flight through jetstar from auck - raro got cancelled because of and let me emphasis it the airline. Ive returned back from my travels and have been told by the airline I need to contact trip.Com which I have. I am still waiting on a refund. Have recieved several emails to begin with stating no refund?? And then I had to call to explain to them that it was the airline that cancelled not I! Im still being processed in their books and yet the cancellation had nothing to do with myself. So buyer beware cheap doesnt always guarantee you a seat!

Scam - misleading hiked fees
Scam. Prior to booking I asked there online chat how to book luggage, seats and food. Was clearly advised I would get an airline reference number to use after the booking was made and I could add this from the airlines website to purchase l. So booked only to find out that I can’t use the reference number. Unfortunately after live chats that won’t know ( absolutely useles ) and 2 phone calls. I find out that the only way I can get these items is through email communications and with trip.com only and thier rates which are a LOT more than the...airlines. Also no package options each item must be paid in full ( 5 tickets) each having to pay almost 50 % more for services each way. No way of pricing the luggage or food and seating. What wound have been ticking a box on an airlines website was over 20 emails to sort this out Was held at random to what ever they wanted to charge after the fact of booking. Pay or else book again direct with the airline. Be very careful.
So hopeless it became HILARIOUS
My experience was HILARIOUS. There isn't anything that didn't go wrong. I'm certain that there isn't any training what so ever for these people. Started fine but then had to reschedule my hotel booking and BOY, did that cause ripples of chaos and confusion. My simple inquiry was redirected to at least 4 different people without any warning - id just be put on hold and bam a new person greets me as if I'd just called. Finally got through that I needed to change a date and then I need to pay the difference (fair enough). Was $8 more. I was told I...'d receive a call back when they decided how to take payment. At this point I kinda felt like I'd fallen for a scam or something. Received a call at 10:30pm while I was sleeping, for whatever reason I actually picked up. After a short talk I was asked to enter my card details. I made them clarify it was not a scam I was incredibly skeptical. Then it went through and I though GREAT! It's solved AWESOME. I just received a call the next day asking for another payment as if nothing had happened. My info was lost somehow apparently. After several attempts at entering my details again I was told there isn't another payment method they can provide and they will have to call me back again. Can't wait to be woken up again at 1030 tonight! Honestly though gotta laugh it's that hopeless.

Booked flight this evening for tomorrow, have received no confirmation or itinerary 5 hours later.
The website 'help' page sends a '404' error, non existent. !000's of fake reviews at trustedreviews.com praising them lol

Tried to correct our child’s surname on a Singapore Airline flight ticket that was book through trip.com but was told by trip.com that their ticket policy states that no correction allowed even though the airline permits it as long as Trip.com put in a request because the booking was done through them.
Trip.com refuses to put in a request to Singapore Airlines to correct the name and recommended for us to go to the airline itself and sort it out at the ticket counter. We bought 5 tickets in total and only a ticket needed correction of surname.... I have explained to them that Singapore Airline says that trip.com needs to put in the request, not us. All they have to do is put in a request to Singapore Airlines and we will pay the fees involved to change it. Our request was denied again due to their ticket policy which we have requested to view. No response following this. I cannot understand why a minor issue with a simple solution can’t be progressed even when we agree to pay for the admin fees involved to change it. We now risk to lose AU$1600 for 5 tickets because we cannot leave a child behind and was told that there is unlikely a refund. In addition to that, we had to buy another 5 tickets (directly from the airlines this time - expensive lesson learnt) that cost us AU$1500 but for a different day with additional hotel cost. This was only for the departure flight! Let’s see if we do get sent a copy of trip.com’s policy which shows in black and white that they cannot request for a change from the airline...so far that policy is make-believe to us. We will rest our case if it is noted in black and white and accept the fact that it was a bad decision to book through trip.com if we can see proof that it is ‘not allowed’.

Still holding my money - HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
Horrible experience!! Worst intermediary for car rental ever! STAY AWAY!!! Booked with them for 5 days (270$). Paid in advance in October. Arrived at the airport, call for shuttle service, automated machine said they would come 'shortly'. Wait 20 min, nobody arrives. Call again, wait, then take uber to Melbourne. Call in the morning Ace Car rental and the Melbourne office refuses to accept the call and the customer service says my reservation is marked as no show and my car has been given away. Money is so far LOST
Trip.com keeps replying to m...y messages saying 'they are looking into it'. Total SCAM! I went to Ace Car rental at the end of my stay in Melbourne and location manager said they had already refunded trip.com, which is holding my money for no reason. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
Absolute SCAM Chinese company
I made a hotel booking and within less than 24Hour’s, the same hotel, same condition and same date - the hotel was now significantly cheaper (over $400 cheaper!). I asked trip.com to refund the difference but they refused. They jack up the price right before you book! Different links gives you different prices - beware !
The support center is in China and god bless anyone communicating to the agent ! They simply don’t understand. I sent many emails - and the replies just doesn’t make sense. English is obviously very poor.
Booking.com offers...price match policy and price guarantee. I have never had problems with them. My recommendation is to Book with booking.com and get then to price match trip.com (if trip.com is cheaper). After reading more reviews here, I’m very scared of my booking - although “confirmed” it looks like trip.com can really screw you up. Avoid at all cost! Don’t be scammed! Trip.com simple doesn’t run a honest and transparent business ! Even if it is cheaper, there is no point booking with such a scamming company.
The Worst Experience I Have Ever Had Booking A Hotel
Made a booking for 1 room for my guest and I via a not user friendly web page, got a booking for 2 rooms instead (doubling the price - and do not know how it happened), rang to adjust the booking to 1 room only but it was completely cancelled with a wait of 10 days to have my monies put back on my visa debit card. Based in china and just do not care! Horrid customer service and avoid like the plaque. Actually worried I may not get the monies returned which is substantial after they charged me for 2 delux rooms.

I booked a return trip 6 months ago for an important event through trip.com.Airline cancelled the original return flight and advanced my return date.I missed the most important day of the trip.The agent never informed me this change earlier, so that I could alter my plan accordingly. Once I realised the change I requested a return just 2 days later which they had available tickets on the airline website.
I asked trip com to change the return well ahead.They asked me to wait patiently and they will attend to that.After 10 days I got back to the...m then agent said tickets are not available but for long time airline website kept selling tickets for that requested day until my return day.Agent kept telling tickets are available one moment and then no tickets on the other time.When I checked with airline personally they told me airline has given important details to the agent which they never passed to me.This was an involuntary change initiated by airline by doing so they increased my transit from 4 hours to 36 hours.Eventually they gave me a short transit after repetitive requests by my self ,agent could not do even that for me but by then I have missed the whole purpose of the trip.I wasted my quality time for communicating with the agent.The Uncertainty ruined my holiday. Trip .com is utterly disorganised and did not have proper communication with the airline and was incapable of dealing with Cathay.Because of trip.com I missed the most important part of my trip and returned early. Trip com customer service is chaotic,not maintaining proper records,they do not have continuity and credibility.They will be ok for a simple booking but if there is a change to itinerary they can not handle that at all because of their disorganised,poor quality customer service workers.

Booking through Trip.com was one huge mistake that I will never make again.
Although their customer service representatives were friendly enough over the phone, any changes I needed to make to my flights required me to file an "itinerary change request." Each such request took several hours to process. Sometimes I heard back, other times I heard nothing, like shouting into a void. Over the phone I was told to expect URGENT requests to take a minimum of 2-3 hours to process. (i.e. you can't just log-in and change something instantly like you would when dealing with an airline directly).
Owing to a change in my work sc...hedule I needed to change a portion of a recent ticket. I attempted to make these changes weeks in advance online, via the app, and over the phone -- I tried all three. Each change request took several hours to process during which time the seats I was trying to book were sold leaving me with no other option than to spend over $1000 to book an entirely new ticket with another airline. In short, their customer service is ineffective, their policies are incredibly restrictive, and I will NEVER book through them again.
Good price, fast delivery. Don't change anything after payment.
I've used Trip.com 3x for booking ticket to Melbourne and car rental. I read the review last night after I clicked paid for my overseas ticket which was 17% cheaper than the known as cheapest Travel Agent I use for the last 8 years. My hubby was a bit worried too. The system stated that I will get the ticket in 24 hours after the payment and less than 2 hours I got the e-ticket, which was ok when I checked in the airline website.
I learnt that when we book online, we have to check and recheck and check the recheck again before we pay. I normal...ly make the screenshot and saved it up to I got the right confirmation. Once happened that somehow after I left to kitchen, when I went back the system change the date or may be I clicked the previous search with different date. I hope Trip.com Customer Service will be able to help other Customer who really need their excellent Service.

I booked a ticket from Melbourne to Sydney Australia however received a ticket from Sydney to Melbourne which was completely a disaster!!
Specially now as we are in Xmas and new year time , imagine what a chaos would be.
I did not know at the beginning that they are based in China and its not Australian based with Australian rules.
At the beginning I had a hesitation about them whether they are an authentic website.
Anyway I called 1800 customer support number ( regardless it said 24/7 response but it was not)

Called to make changes to reservation, Trip.com never made the changes , cancelled my reservation and refused to refund all my money. Lost over 200$... ruined my vacation.... emailed ... called and no one would help me.
Would never use again!!!
Their tickets are not just non refundable but non changeable. When you try booking it continues to say at the last min tickets sold out that you go again and again in frustration that you end up booking what ever time you can get. My tickets are almost a week away and yet they just send messages saying sorry policy states they are non changeable.

Their customer service has been doing above and beyond.
Booked a hotel in a hassle, didn't notice the non-cancellation policy. Ringed the hotel to cancel the booking due to flight delay, was told have to go through the booking agency. Called up Trip.com over the phone and the customer service advised me they have to negotiate with the hotel, obviously they have some sort of agreement regards to the room type. So I chose to stay on the line and it turns out to be the issue was solved within 2 minutes.

while booking tickets they don't ask for any passport details they just straight away jump to payment credit card details... how can you get ticket confirmed without any passport number
