I paid a $1,000 deposit back in April, and it is now June and I still have not received my refund. I have been given multiple different timelines from this company. First I was told it would take 5 business days. That then changed to “last Monday,” then “last Thursday,” and now I’m being advised yet another different date again. Every time I… Read more

follow up, the story changes.

I have screenshots of the communication showing these conflicting promises.

There is a clear lack of accountability here. They are very quick to take your money, but extremely slow and inconsistent when it comes to returning it. At this point, it feels like they are just delaying and hoping you stop chasing it.

I would not recommend dealing with them based on this experience.

I booked a flight for a business trip two months before. The day before, I find out the first leg of my trip had been cancelled — trip.com had not even informed me, let alone changed my flight. I had to spend hours on my phone with customer service — three times. First, they rebooked me on the wrong flights. Then, they promised a response that… Read more

never arrived. I had to explain the same every time, they seemed to have no record of anything. At some point, they had changed the flight for my second leg to an earlier time than that for the first! Brilliant. In the end, they did not solve the issue and I had to book a new flight on my own, hours before my trip. Absolutely unprofessional and unreliable. Will not use them again.

Very frustrating experience with Trip.com. Shortly after receiving my hotel booking confirmation, I noticed the dates were inconsistent with my intended travel arrangements and raised it with Trip.com promptly. I was not asking for a free cancellation. I only requested a date amendment and was willing to pay any applicable rate difference. … Read more

However, the issue appeared to be handled as a simple change-of-plans or free cancellation request, rather than a booking discrepancy raised shortly after confirmation.

After I contacted the hotel directly, I was advised that any goodwill amendment for this OTA booking would still need to be coordinated through Trip.com.

The most disappointing part was the poor escalation handling, lack of ownership, and failure to properly represent the context of the issue.

This experience has significantly reduced my confidence in using Trip.com again.

Had always used Trip.com for my travel to Bali & hotels. Well now I finally got stung. I took advantage of their travel insurance. I then had to cancel my trip the day I was meant to fly out. Because of unavoidable circumstances, travel insurance could have helped. But apparently when I had no choice but to cancel my trip. It also cancels your travel insurance. How am I suppose to make a claim then? Also according to Trip.com nether the airline or the hotel would issue a refund or credit. Even though I had everything in evidence to back me up on my claim. I have since lodged a complaint to Consumer Protection and hopefully they can provide further outcomes.

Trip.com no empathy, has lost a loyal customer.

I purchased a Vietjet "Deluxe" ticket through Trip.com for an upcoming flight to Ho Chi Minh City. A key, advertised benefit of this specific premium fare class is the ability to make flight and class changes for free, paying only the fare difference. When I contacted Trip.com support to process an upgrade to Business Class, they completely… Read more

refused to honor the terms of the ticket they sold me. Instead of charging just the fare difference, the agent attempted to impose an unauthorized $249 processing fee, quoting a total of over $1,241. When I provided direct screenshots and links to the airline's official Deluxe fare rules proving the change should be fee-free, the support agents deployed unreasonable delay tactics. They stated it would take 24 to 72 hours for "management to investigate" a publicly available airline policy. Worse, they told me that because they could not guarantee the ticket price wouldn't increase during their 72-hour delay, my only options were to either wait and risk a massive price hike, or pay the full, unjustified $1,241 upfront right then while they investigated. This is highly unconscionable conduct. Trip.com is actively holding fares hostage, refusing to honor the clear inclusions of the premium tickets they sell, and attempting to shift the financial risk of their slow internal bureaucracy onto the consumer. I am currently escalating this matter as a breach of Australian Consumer Law (misleading and deceptive conduct regarding the promised features of a purchased service) and pursuing a formal chargeback dispute. Buyers beware: paying for a flexible or premium ticket through Trip.com means nothing if their customer service team refuses to let you use the benefits.

updating their price and it isn’t something Trip.com has a control over. 24 hours after my complaint, the advertised price was still $500 cheaper than the payment price.

Trip.com is an agency for hotel booking. The booking page and payment page are all within the Trip.com page so it’s not right of Trip.com to blame it on respective hotels’ fluctuating prices.

Trip.com offered me a mere $60 as compensation for this misleading error. I choose not to accept it as I don’t think it’s going to change any behavior or error fixing in Trip.com platform to not mislead customers in the future.

Buyers beware!

The price match guarantee is a joke. I booked a flight through Trip.com (Hanoi – Shenzhen – Melbourne) and paid a total of AUD 637.70, including AUD 416.10 in taxes. I requested cancellation well before departure. Trip.com told me that only AUD 44.20 of my taxes is refundable, meaning they are withholding over AUD 370 in taxes. They refused to provide any tax breakdown, could not… Read more

show which taxes were non-refundable, and said they could only share what the airline told them — yet then asked me to contact the airline directly for details. This is extremely irresponsible, as my booking and refund are being handled by Trip.com, not by me directly with the airline.

Their own website says cancellations follow the airline’s policy, and the airline’s published rules state unused government taxes should be refunded. Despite this, Trip.com withheld most of my taxes without proof.

They kept delaying my cancellation status as “awaiting cancellation fee” while giving changing timelines (1 day, 2 days, then 1 week). Customer service was slow, inconsistent, and avoided accountability.

I would not recommend Trip.com for flight bookings if you may need a refund. Very poor transparency and support.

were even issued. Instead of helping me correct the mistake promptly, I was told to pay a fare difference that was higher than the original ticket price. This feels like an unfair and exploitative practice designed to make money rather than assist customers. Very disappointing experience. This app appears to be deliberately misleading and unfair to consumers. I am being charged twice for the same flight simply for changing the travel date of one segment, and despite raising this issue within seconds of booking, the company refused to provide any resolution or refund. In addition, the app consistently advertises low flight prices that are either unavailable or suddenly increase at the booking stage. This practice is deceptive and creates a false impression of affordability. I will be raising this with Australian fair trade to see if this helps. Based on my experience, I strongly caution others against using this app, as its pricing and billing practices are not transparent and cannot be relied upon.

This booking experience with Trip.com has been extremely misleading and unacceptable. I booked a hotel at a displayed price of $1800. This amount was clearly shown as the main booking price. However, later on the same day, I received an email stating that I would need to pay an additional $900 directly to the hotel upon arrival. Only after going… Read more

back to the listing did I discover that this extra charge was mentioned in small fine print, while the headline price remained $1800. This is not transparent pricing. The real total cost of the hotel was $2700, not $1800.

What makes this even worse is that I have contacted Trip.com for an entire day regarding this issue and they have completely ignored my complaint. The hotel also refuses to cancel the booking, leaving me with no resolution.

As a result, I am now preparing to formally report this matter to the Consumer Affairs Department for misleading pricing and unfair business practices.

This is a classic example of drip pricing and deceptive advertising. If the full price had been clearly shown upfront, I would never have made this booking.

I strongly warn other customers to be extremely cautious when booking through this platform.

flight so that I could make changes to the booking beforehand if circumstances required it. So I took out travel insurance with XCover.com, this being offered to provide travel protection. When I received notification that the job in Gladstone was cancelled ( five days before the scheduled flight date), I cancelled the Booking with Trip.com and made a claim with XCover.com. Numerous emails followed in an attempt to obtain a refund of the Flight costs outstanding. XCover.com insurance policy mentions "Cancellation Guarantee", however this insurance company could not process my claim because the Insurance Policy had been cancelled by Trip.com on 27th March. The period of cover was 29-30 March, so I have contacted Trip.com to ask why they cancelled the policy on 27th March. No answer was forthcoming. In the past used Trip for hotel bookings and was fine. Bolivian Aviacion (BOA) via Trip. It was supposed to be a short hop from La Paz to Sucre, on June 1, at a decent time of 10 AM. On May 26, 5 days before my flight, Trip sends me the info that BOA had allegedly changed my direct flight into a connecting one via another city, and moved the time of the flight to a much earlier time, which is a major inconvenience, especially now when the airport is blockaded daily. By all standards this qualifies for "involuntary" cancellation, and I immediately activated this option on my Trip app. 24 hours later, Trip keeps sending me nonsense that the change allegedly "does not qualify" for involuntary cancelation by airline standards, and my request is refused. First, I doubt Trip ever communicates with any airlines, given that they fully rely on AI bots and automated flow of absolutely anything. You could not talk to a human if your life depended on it, nor can you do any actions that do not directly bring profit to Trip.com. They have flooded my mail inbox with nonsense messages, none of which I am able to reply to, nor ask any questions. These are all pronouncements I have to abide by. I had purchased these tickets months ago, and was NEVER able to find my booking on Boa website. That had never happened with any other search engines I had ever purchased my flights with. Trip. com is a complete scam, selling non-existent tickets.

I have had very UNPLEASANT experiences with Trip.cpm. receive an 8% discount when booking a car along with my flight.

However, I experienced several issues:

When I arrived, Europcar was unable to recognize my booking number. The vehicle provided was a hatchback, which did not have enough space for my luggage as originally specified. Due to this, I was forced to upgrade the vehicle at the counter. The Europcar staff had no visibility of the payment I had already made through your platform. As a result, I ended up paying approximately $1,092.21 extra for the rental. This situation caused significant inconvenience and unexpected financial burden, far exceeding my planned budget. I had not anticipated paying about $1,400 in total for the car rental.

Seoul → Athens part one day earlier, which would result in an extremely long journey of almost 25 hours including layovers and waiting time, something completely unreasonable compared to my original booking.

What disappointed me even more was the refund handling. Since the flight change was caused by the airline/schedule disruption and not by me, I expected either a proper replacement itinerary or a full refund. Instead, Trip.com offered only a partial refund (€586 out of €820), attempting to keep a significant amount of money despite the itinerary no longer matching what I originally purchased.

The support process was frustrating and felt unfair to the customer. I understand schedule changes can happen, but customers should not be financially penalized for major airline disruptions outside their control.
