Scam scam scam. Do not trust this site they direct you to sites like Prestigia.com who are a scam company. There isnt any direct communication with Trivago. Had to report the credit card charge to my bank. Show details

Although the site was pretty easy to use. I was pretty upset that the price was given in American dollars and not Australian dollars. So instead of paying what I believed to be 890 dollars turned into 1200 dollars when I clicked pay now. Which really pissed me off. Show details

Disgusted – I paid for a 5 star hotel in India, from Australia. Nowhere on the page did it say it was in USD. It didn’t even say USD when paying. Just used the $ sign. I got a shock when my Amex was hit with double the cost. I approached Expedia (which was the option I chose) within seconds and they were unable to refund me, even though they agreed the… Read more

website was misleading. Other websites have the currency clearly marked and you have the option to change currency. Trivago does not have this option!! It is a scam. Now I found out that when Trivago searches for competitive prices, it does not compare apples with apples. It picks up any prices, from any country, irrespective of what currency (USD or AUD) and we pay for it. In my case, the link took me to USA. The hotel in India couldn’t help as this was paid through Trivago. Please don’t use Trivago for your own good.

I’ve just returned from a month visiting Manila, Pasay and Makati in The Philippines. EVERY time I booked a hotel through TRIVAGO there were problems. Wrong pricing, non existent availability on arrival and dismissive customer service. The fact is that it’s safer, cheaper and easier to arrive at any hotel and pay direct. Show details

Follow-up  · Nothing has changed. I notice bookings.com have a similar bad record and are facing a massive fine

Trivago is a terrible place to book your rooms. Don't do it. They play games with prices, book rooms that you cant use and will not let you modify or change reservations. Poor customer service and policies. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!!!! YOU WILL BE SORRY. Show details

Follow-up  · So my reservation was cancelled when I got to the hotel. I had to pay again for another reservation. Upon notifying trivago and algotel I have not receoved a refind despite sending the invoice I had to pay from the hotel as proof of purchasing an additional stay. Will never use this company. Would tather pay double then get ripped off by them. Totally sketchy and not responsive.

Trivago is supposed to give us the best price on hotel accomodation. The ads I see about them on TV say we should be happy paying $350 per night. Are you kidding. That’s a wage! Who can afford that???

If Trivago is trying to p*,ss TV viewers off with their incessant ads on Foxtel you’re doing a great job. Pounding us with ads in every break is bordering on harassment. Along with Carpet Call you make ad breaks very ‘painful’.

I have since learned since our poor experience; that in 2022, the Federal Court of Australia ordered Trivago to pay $44.7 million (AUD) in penalties for misleading consumers. And then reading the many poor reviews here I would certainly not book accommodation through them again. It is also obvious from reading some of the comments here that their… Read more

Booked with Trivago (1st time) never again ! Thought I was booked into a specific apartment block but on arrival we were booked into a large major chain nearby. Very noisy & poorly managed. Expressed unacceptability but was told apartment block also managed other venue through Trivago. Objected to apartment block manager & Trivago and was basically told “that’s the deal you can cancel if you like” Most deceptive practice - never Trivago again. Show details

Trivago is over rated on all aspects. Going through Trivago is to run the irritating gauntlet of websites full of stupidities and annoying idiosyncrasies. So you save $5? Big deal! I prefer to book the old way - call the park itself, discuss our needs with the staff member and build up a rapport. Trivago also needs to get another advertising… Read more

Very unhappy with Trivago. They took us to a third party site called Super.com. I chose the more expensive option so I didn’t have to pay a monthly subscription. It then pretty much forced you to join. To get out of the subscription I had to download an app. They then charged full price which was ok. When bank statement came, I had been charged a… Read more

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS PLATFORM. I booked a hotel only to have it cancelled the day before I was to arrive. Dishonest. Price gouging. Booked a room in Ibis Budget St Peters (Sydney) via Trivago, their website fed me to Super.com. Site showed room availability on night I needed for bit over $100, after clicking pay and receiving confirmation, I saw that Sunday night had been alloted to me, not the Saturday that I'd booked. Saturday had clearly been… Read more

available. I phoned Ibis St P directly and they told me there was nothing they could do to change the booking and to contact the online provider to have it cancelled. They also told me to go back into the site to book for the correct night. It was difficult to find the online provider (Trivago will never have my business again. Be wary of them and their hidden partner in crime super.com.) Trusting people to have some shreds of decency (regrets), I did so. Now the price for the night's accomodation had miraculously risen to over $400. Desperate for accommodation and none being available within an hours radius, I booked the accommodation. Over 20 seperate email threads and several months later, I have taken them to Fair Trading. Their ethics are as disgusting as their squalid jail cell of a room. I won't waste more time describing the 'budget' for luxury price room - read the other 1 star reviews. They nailed it.

You might get the best room rate, but you won’t get the best room. Every hotel has ‘that room’ overlooking the carpark that they haven’t got around to painting for the last 10 years. Guess who gets it - the person paying full rate, or the person trying to screw the last dollar out of the rate?

False Advertising – Tried booking Sebel Hotel in Mandurah @ $287 per night. After completing booking process and providing credit card details for payment, a message popped up saying booking was not completed as this rate was sold out. Why advertise a price that’s not available? Why take all credit card and address details when the room is not really available? Show details

Ridiculous advertising – I obviously hate their ads, especially the latest one. It makes me want to never consider using their service. How stupid is the ad anyway. The guy says he needed the vacation, but only stays one night. Who thinks up this rubbish anyway. They are heavily advertising, sometimes 2 ads per break. Makes it obvious that the business isn't doing really well. I don't trust established companies that advertise heavily.
