The good and the bad review – The burners are ceramic with a glass dome which makes a great oven . I've cooked chicken and pork on the rotisserie and came out perfect. I also cooked a cheese cake and puddings also great. But when cooking a steak, no good on the aluminium grill ( doesn't hold the heat to give the steaks that score makes ) the burners don't let out enough heat… Read more

like the old one's. l cook my steaks and sausages in a skillet on the side burner. Also on the side burner the rack where the pot sits is too low on the flame, hard to regulate heat ( I raised the rack about 15mm perfect) The fire box is black enamel easy to clean, love it. The out side is stainless steel and also easy to clean ( I use a anti corrosion lubricant called Inox that you can buy from any boat shop ) The glass domes you must clean them after every cook otherwise the will stain and very hard to get off. I love my Ziegler and brown it looks great as a outdoor kitchen and cooks the the way I like it.

Rust is atrocious – After just two years, the base of the side burner and inside of the doors are badly rusted. The unit is always covered with the genuine cover. Now the cover itself is tearing like paper. It is marketed as stainless steel, but it is mostly normal steel with a very low quality coating. Show details

Very poor BBQ for the price - Poorly Engineered – I can cook a BBQ, and this BBQ does great steaks and roasting and spits (Rotisserie), we cook on it at least 4 times a week, more in summer, how ever the poor engineering lets the BBQ down. The quartz domes are good at radiating heat, but they travel the heat to the burner beds, destroying them. They heat up and mild steel shell, it rusts and… Read more

deteriorates quickly under these extreme conditions. I am up for my second set of burners in 7 years. Domes are quite pricey to replaces as well. And of course, mild steel fittings on a Stainless Steel product is always an issue. The support in Australia, is appalling, very slow and very expensive and really an all round let down. Shame it looked the part, just didn't deliver on its sales and support hype.

Very disappointing purchase. Not worth the money and customer service department is rubbish when something goes wrong – Bought this BBQ 18 months ago and am having serious rust issues. Always cleaned and covered after each use. This apparently stainless steel high quality BBQ that I paid $2500 is not covered under warranty for rust. If it were truly stainless steel then it wouldn't rust anyway. Customer support useless, they firstly offered to replace rusted parts… Read more

then retracted offer. DON'T waste your money on this product, will not last. If looking at purchasing as about potential rust issues.

Worst barbeque - do not buy one! This model is absolutely terrible! – I love barbeque and cook on a Barbie every day! It’s pretty much my daily diet! I thought if I use it so much i should invest in the best of the best, so I bought a Ziegler Brown turbo elite from barbeques galore for $1799 with the side gas stove burner and walked out a great huge smile! I been fighting desperately in order to not admit defeat… Read more

ever since! I’ve been trying for 4 months literally everyday cooking on this barbeque! I didn’t want to admit defeat, especially because I spend so much money! I tried everything! If you think this is a good barbeque, your wrong! You either never owned a good barbeque before or you have another reason to leave a positive review. Maybe your fighting like I did and don’t want to admit to yourself the defeat! It hurts to spend $1799 on a barbeque and then admit that it doesn’t cook well! I think there is definately a mental hurdle to cross.

Unfortunately or fortunately I realise now that I Paid $1799 aud for a very bad barbeque! I did expected it to be cooking well! It just does not cook well - especially steaks!

The heat is not consistent throughout and it doesn’t seal the steaks! For chicken where it has to be slow cooked and well done throughout its ok if you are very patient, because it takes about double the time to cook than it should! The reason is, it is very slow to heat up, and the heat, when it has finally becomes hot after waiting, will escape after you lift the lid to turn the food around and then your back to a waiting game for it to heat up. In the mean time your slow cooking your food from the second side you flipped it to! This is not the way a good steak or lamb meat should be cooked. If you cannot seal both sides, the meat even chicken won’t taste great! Also I didn’t pay $1799 to eat well done slow cooked meat! The steaks just don’t seare and do not taste like they should even if I preheat it to over 240 degrees, and it takes a while to get hot, past 175 degrees it really slows down! There must be a design problem in my view. My barbeque is 4 months old and it works like it should, there is no fault within the barbeque. Everything works perfectly. It just doesn’t cook well like you expect! I went back to the store and tested the floor Stock. It is the same as my barbeque. So I have ruled out that my barbeque is faulty. When I went back to the store where I bought it from and I got told how to turn up the heat by turning a small screw under the knobs you turn to set the heat level. I must say this improved the barbeque tremendously. However once you turn it up by turning this screw with a small flat head screw driver, you loose the ability to turn it down, of course you can go back to the old useless setting where you can turn it down, if you reset it using the screw driver. Now, I found myself cooking with an additional tool in my hand - a flat head screw driver! It lives permanently in the barbeque draw. Sometimes you need to turn the heat down low, but mostly you want it hot, so the screw driver and pulling knobs off and turning the screw is a frequent task and essential if you want the best outcome. You get used to it, till one day when I realized that this is insanity, that’s when I realized my defeat with this barbeque! It shouldn’t be like this! And it’s supposed to be a premium Bbq at a premium price! Do not buy it! There are much better barbeques out there! Better cook on a frying pan than this barbeque. To make it worse, the wheels keep leaving black marks on my beautiful tiles on my balcony! The marks are just about impossible to clean off! I wish I had just not bought this barbeque! It is definitely not worth the money. Yesterday I went to another store and bought a $450 aud gas equivalent Webber, due to the huge dissapointment with this barbeque... Wow unbelieveable and the taste, omg, too Good to be true! The cooking time halved! The heat, Wow instantly hot in comparison, the steaks perfectly sealed! I can turn it up and down without a need for a screw driver! I can’t believe I spend $1799 aud on this terrible Ziegler and Brown turbo elite two burner! Damm u people who left good reviews! I’ll never use it again after cooking on the Webber! I’d take the Webber every day of the week over this large piece of inferior junk. I will leave a proper Webber review after I cook on it some more. But now what will I do with my 4 month old Ziegler and brown turbo elite? Give it to Mum and Dad as a present? I feel sorry for them. My dad is old and my mum wouldn’t be any good with the screw driver situation! Sell it I suppose, but will anyone buy it, especially after reading this review? This barbeque is not worth more than $200 aud...and even at that I’d spend another $200 and buy the Webber! I had many barbeques at lower and similar price points in my life and this one is inferior to them all. This is an honest review and from someone who actually has owned many barbeques and is a barbeque fan and appreciates a good steak, fish or chicken everyday on the barbeque.

Turbo Elite 4 burner v Beefeater – Hi all Finally purchased a new BBQ after retiring the old girl (Turbo) after 25 years and many part replacements to keep it running like new. My project required a 4 burner natural gas compatible BBQ with a hood that could be dropped into a custom outdoor kitchen cabinet. Well let me tell you, if you don't already know, there are a lot of… Read more

BBQ's these days to choose from. My price range was around $1900 to $2100 as I figured I wont be buying another one for a long time (probably never) and life is too short to go cheap. Plus there is an old saying "long after the price is forgotten, the quality remains". So I narrowed my choices down to the Turbo elite 4 burner built in and the Beefeater 4 burner built in with full stainless steel burners and grill and hot plate. Before I go any further, both are excellent BBQ's as a few of mates have both and all are very happy with a few exceptions. So what are they? Well firstly I went with the Tubo elite as I am under cover and needed a rangehood to help with the smoke. The Beefeater bbq rangehoods are unfortunately poorly designed (Dont buy one!). If you open your beefeater hood and cook, the hood retracts into itself which is cool but sits about 90 degrees upright. So the smoke belows out the front half of the BBQ and guess what, the beefeater rangehood vents are set too far back, almost in line with where the hood opens to, so they don't catch the smoke. I have read from some people that their turbo elite wont light or dosent put out enough heat. Garbage! If you set it up correctly, they will rock. Never had so much heat. With natural gas, you need the conversion kit which I installed. You change over the jets and regul;ator/hose from LPG to Natural. Then and most importantly, you remove each knob, then remove each plate that is connected with two small phillips head screws. Now with a torch, look for a flat head screw in each hole. Each one will be set facing in a certain direction. (This is factory pre set for LPG only.) Turn each burners flathead screw anti clockwise half a turn (180 degrees). This is roughly the ideal setting for natural gas. You may need some ever so slight adjustments if you still think you have too much flame. So in summary, if you want a built in for an enclosed area, both bbqs are fantastic however if you decide on the Beefeater, don't get the matching rangehood. Buy a brand that captures the smoke out of the front of the BBQ. P.S. The Turbo Elite so far I have found fiddly to clean, but when bbqing steaks last night the grills were red got within five minutes and made perfect criss cross lines on the scotch fillets. Also cooked breakfast this morning and it had great even heat on the hot plate. Good luck with your purchases, Both BBqs wont let you down and if you read a review giving them a 1, then something is wrong with the way they have been set up. Chappo

Awesome BBQ – I used my new BBQ for the first time on the weekend. I was a bit worried in regards to the mixed reviews. It seems people either love it or hate it. It turns out I am one that loves it. I don't understand how people have trouble cooking on the grill side. The meat came out perfect. I slow cooked chicken drumsticks on one part, and cooked a… Read more

range of other meats rotating them around.

The beef came out with nice grill lines and cooked perfectly. The chicken was crispy on the outside with grill lines, and moist on the inside.

It seems to take longer to heat up than normal gas burners. To get it going I put it on full until the burners started glowing red. I then turned it down low.

There were a few minor flare ups, but this was only as the oil ran over the the glass. This is to be expected. On my old BBQ there were a number of times when I had to stop cooking as there were huge flames coming off of it. Salvage the meat I could, turn off the BBQ and wait for the flames to stop. Then throw out the totally burned meat and start again. I could not imagine anything like this happening with this new BBQ.

Some friends were impressed by it also and are looking at upgrading to it.

Summary, awesome BBQ, you have to cook a bit different (get the heat up high, then turn it down before throwing the meat on).

I suggest watching the Youtube videos on cooking tips for the Ziegler.

BBQ's Everything Beautifully – Have used for 3 months undercover. Have cooked steak, chops, rissoles, sausages and kebabs along with all sorts of vegetables. Easily the best I have used (low and slow). Enamel plate and stainless grills very easy to clean. Wheels leave black marks when moving around on our tiles. Have chipped 2 of the glass burner covers but that was operator error. Glass covers distribute the heat evenly and haven't needed to clean them yet. Show details

back inserts. Two front inserts does not allow supplied (correct) bolts to line up with nut - will just strip another 2 bolts. Back to Bunnings for 2 more bolts with smaller heads. When is stainless steel not stainless steel? – The so called stainless steel grill racks are a very low grade stainless and after several years go rusty. Stainless does not go rusty. Also the two brackets that hold the handles on are not stainless, although they appear to be when you get it. They are in fact Aluminium castings which I can only describe as chrome plated.
