1 Aaron  · Useless customer service.. Have been emailing support for 3 weeks without response.. Calling them is pointless.. Useful as tits on a nun
1 Peter H.  · If you've never driven or travelled overseas, they don't want to know you. Good citizen you are but your custom doesn't count.
1 Eric  · Everything about this system is just absolute rubbish! I hope that it get's better, but right now, they are the worst thing out there!
1 Lost for W.  · Enablers of Scammers – Literally allowed scammers in Riyadh to take my money. APRA should revoke their ADI.
5 Ang  · Great mobile banking experience – A very simple yet functional mobile banking. The customer service is quite responsive through the chat.
3 Kyeisha D.  · Locked out – I’ve been locked out of my account recovery codes aren’t working

Racist business. Refuses to allow refugees who are now Australian citizens from opening an account if their name doesn’t conform with white conventional format. Appalling customer service- inflexible and stubborn. Please join the growing movement boycotting businesses like this. Show details

I highly discourage using Up Bank. They block your transactions unreasonably when trying to use your money online. You have no way to withdraw your money at ATM either as they have no partnership with anyone. So basically they just keep your money lock and decide how you can used it, not yourself.

Used to be good. Suddenly logged me out of my account, and I was required to send a picture of my ID in order to recover my account, the ID has to be physical making the whole process ridiculous. An now I have to wait however long this takes for someone to approve my request. I will be closing my account and move to a more reliable bank.

Terrible service I use UP for a while and now started a joint account and for a terrible service they are charging $20 to have a physical card for the joint account. No other bank charge for card, instead I do not even need to ask for it. I tried to contact the service but they reluctantly do not change. Closing the account, those banks already make a lot of money and now charging for clients to spend money with them Show details

I’ve been using Up for 5 years now. Bug fix found and mentioned a dozen times over more than a year. Despite promises still no action. Issue: regular bill section doesn’t allow for bills that come every 2 months. In Western Australia this is electricity and water bills. Poor service experience, especially when this is highlighting a flaw in the environment and the fix is really simple.

No Happy Ending – I actually really liked UP, till they closed my account.. Been with them since the start and recommended to so many friends; I was getting $15 dollar referrals, till one day, they put my account on hold (all my payments/centrelink were going in there) friends n family knew that was my payID account, . They said they would need to do an… Read more

investigation and until then had my funds on hold also said it could take up to 6 weeks. Gave me some wishy washy story and advice about food banks and getting help from Salvos. No I didn't need salvos, or a couch or mattress to sleep on, i wanted access to MY own money to buy food, or alcohol or cigarettes if I wanted to! Gave me access back 2 days later, and left it in limbo. No explanation as to what conclusion they came to about my account,! Should have asked, what did they find. I actually reminded them about how they apparently were closing the account, waited to say something 6 weeks later,.. and they claimed it was due to a back log but then did it that same nite. Had to ring on the phone, to try sort it, but the recording service wpuld always revert you back to the app. Which i had been given limited ability and access. Which made it evebn more frustrating. Talk about caring for your customers! Loyal and a legitimate customer for many years, and felt like they had turned their back on me, and no plausible reason to close my account (oh except for the big words jargon section 1.2 and 2.2 etc. Sorry to say, I don't recommend this sub division on Bendigo Bank. Thanks for your time and for reading my experience.

We recently restructured our banking and refinanced our home loan with Up Bank, and we couldn’t be happier. The process was seamless from start to finish. Easily the best bank we've used. We got the card initially for Japan which worked great and had better rates then the other banks. We have now moved more funds into UP and closed then other accounts as we love the feature it provides. Soon we'll look to refinancing our home loan with them. I opened a new account, I had income from a client go into the account (sole trader), I tried to transfer some of it to my own account at another bank. This triggered their security system. into weeks with still no access to my income. I constantly asked for updates through the app customer service messaging but they provided zero information. I called the Up customer service number and they also provided zero information. I made a complaint via the Up website and didn't get a response. I started to feel like I'd fallen for a scam and Up deliberatly freeze accounts so that they can collect interest on people's money while they complete an "investigation" and I was never going to see my money again! Bendigo Bank Customer Protection were the only people who could actually talk to me about the investigation and it was only resolved after calling them at the 4 week mark. I had no access to my money for 4 weeks! I did not think banks could effectively steal your money for 4 weeks!!! I immediately transferred all my money to an account at another bank and closed the Up account after suffering significant distress and financial hardship. Do not open an account with this business unless you're ok with having no access to your money for weeks on end without any resolution in sight!

2 months in a row interest doesn't come in time. Not just me referred friends & same thing. Sent my money elsewhere & then found out they didn't send it, just kept my money & wouldn't pay any interest. Customer service quote some dodgy terms if they reject your transfer they aren't liable. Total shambles of a bank owned by the commonwealth which makes a fortune scamming ordinary people.

have enjoyed my experience with Up since early April. I enjoy the ability to "hide" and "lock" savers to make it more difficult to access funds that you have already saved and prevent unnecessary spending. Has definitely saved me a bit of money already. As a semi-frequent international traveller (or, more frequent, purchases of goods from… Read more

overseas) I also really enjoy that there are no-international transaction fees. They are also an Ethical bank (owned by Bendigo - who do not donate to Fossil Fuels)

On the slightly negative side, they recognise that a lot of their user base is youthful so some of the marketing is leaning into that heavily and can sometimes end up a bit cringe. I also did not enjoy having to provide ID photos during the application process to verify my identity - this put me off from joining them years ago too. But, I took the chance this time, and am largely glad i did.

Was with Up Bank for almost 5 years as my sole bank and used to love them. Raved about to anyone and everyone. Their app UI is stunning and helped me keep track of my spending and savings. Unfortunately, things have been going down hill for a while and my last experience with support was the nail in the coffin. First, they released a change to… Read more

their “regulars” and “spendable” feature which entirely broke how I budgeted on pay day. After so many requests to change it back OR at least give us the option on how to configure it there was always just “oh, you’ll get used to it as this is better”. Their customer support just constantly provides saved responses, and doesn’t feel like they genuinely care like they used to.

Then they released their “grow and flow” rates for interest rates which means they pay you less on savers if you withdraw out of them. Makes sense, unless you have savers for bills and then a bill payment comes out for the month, boom there goes your interest. Awful.

Then I tried to withdraw to another bank account for time sensitive transaction on my home loan and, even after asking about limits well beforehand, they blocked me and absolutely refused to remove any restrictions or delays on it which meant I was risking losing a house purchase. Way too much say in what you can and can’t do with your own money and making the withdrawal experience awful under the guise of security and scams instead of treating customers at individual level. It just doesn’t make sense and nothing you do or say will ever please them.

Unfortunately no matter how good their UI is, it doesn’t make up for the decisions they’re making, lack of caring for feedback anymore, and too much say in what you do with your own money.

Up Bank gets a few things right and a lot of things wrong. Absolutely awful. Opened an account, and 1 month later I tried to transfer $50 to Swyftx (Australia's largest registered crypto exchange) and the payment was blocked. Used chat feature in the app, and the person said sorry, they cant help and they couldn't say why they it was blocked it (despite their bank are the ones who are blocking it!). An absolutely useless company.

Absolutely terrible customer service experience that has completely soured my relationship with Up Bank. I've been a customer for over a year, and while the app interface was initially appealing, the customer service is non-existent when you actually need help. When I encountered an issue with a disputed transaction, I reached out multiple times… Read more

through their in-app chat support. Responses were painfully slow - sometimes taking days to get a reply, and when they did respond, the answers were generic copy-paste responses that didn't address my specific situation.

The lack of phone support is a major red flag. When you're dealing with banking issues, especially time-sensitive ones, waiting days for a chat response is completely unacceptable. I was passed between different support agents who each asked me to repeat the same information over and over again, showing no record of previous conversations.

To make matters worse, my issue still hasn't been resolved after weeks of back-and-forth. The customer service team seems undertrained and unable to escalate issues properly. For a digital bank that positions itself as modern and customer-focused, the reality is disappointing.

I cannot recommend Up Bank if you value responsive customer service. Stick with traditional banks that at least have phone support when things go wrong.

Refinanced a home loan with Up Bank. What a nightmare! The application went smoothly up until it went to their lawyers' MSA. After 44 Days of: - Document requests (they requested the same document 3 times!) - stuff ups (too many to count - had to keep scheduling a JP to certify yet another document) - sheer incompetence (sent us on wild goose… Read more

chases with our insurers that wasn't required)

After making a complaint, both MSA and Upbank started taking it seriously, and we finally got a settlement!

Only... the surplus funds we requested - haven't arrived. So we're paying interest on money we don't even have! Upbank don't seem at all concerned.

Someone from Upbank said they were investigating compensation options weeks ago – but I never heard back from them.

The sting of finding that MSA lawyers passed along a $10 "service" charge! Also, they decided not to wear the $500 title office charges - despite the god awful "service" provided.

All up with the discharge fees - we're not even saving money this year by refinancing.

Massively regret ever taking on this endeavour. No sense of customer service. Always quick with an apology & admitting fault - but no offer to make it right. Don't make my mistake. Find yourself a bank that respects you and your time.
