Multiple faults in under 2 weeks – serious concerns about quality and durability I recently purchased two pairs of Van Heusen business trousers (originally priced at $179 per pair, purchased on sale) along with five business shirts from Myer Miranda, choosing the brand based on its reputation and expecting strong quality and durability. After… Read more

only around 12 days of normal office wear, one pair of trousers developed a fault where the belt loop stitching failed. Shortly after, a second fault appeared on the same pair, with stitching coming loose under the pocket, creating a hole.

These issues occurred under normal use and well within a timeframe where a product at this price point should reasonably be expected to last significantly longer. Some of the shirts also had loose or stray threads upon purchase.

I contacted both Van Heusen and Myer regarding the issue. Van Heusen responded but advised they could not assist as the purchase was made through the retailer. Myer Miranda store staff ultimately resolved the issue at store level.

While I appreciate the retailer stepping in, it is concerning that multiple structural faults occurred in the same garment under minimal wear, and that the manufacturer did not take a more active role in addressing the issue.

Based on this experience, I have concerns about the durability and overall quality control of the product.I also would not recommend this brand to anybody considering what you pay and you would get equal quality if not better at target.

Van Heusen Mens Clothing were the standard Business Clothing brand for me having adopted it from years of my Dad wearing their Business Shirts and Trousers for years. Curiously they have decided to abandoned the entire range of Business Shirt product line for Short Sleeved Business Shirts. Now they only off Long Sleeved and strangest of all Three… Read more

Quarter Length Sleeved for some reason. This is despite Australia being a climate not at all conducive to Long Sleeved clothing for a minimum 9 months a year and in fact a lot of the 3 months of "winter" weather can in fact be no different to Autumn and Spring. How anyone thought dropping the range of Short Sleeved Business Shirts, as worn by the vast majority of men for the majority of the year, was a good idea I'll never know. Despite my reluctance to give Van Heusen any business now that they no longer provide Any Shirt styles to suit, I am generally pleased with their Trousers and have worn these for years too.

The sizing is so off with van heusen and totally inconsistent. I reordered what I hoped would be correct sizing after a bunch of wrongly sized clothes arrived (completely different from all other manufacturers) and ten days later, when the order had not even been DISPATCHED. I made a phone call, was placed on hold for ten minutes, ended up in a… Read more

call centre where other representatives conversations were too loud to hear the operator, followed by call dropping out. Followed by another call following ten min hold to be told they’re busy. So sizing is off, turnaround times are ridiculous and customer support speaks for itself. They said they’d tell their “team”. So.i hope This review warns others.

I have been wearing Van Heusen shirts for work for 20 years and now the set of four new shirts I bought online about 6 weeks ago and have been worn just a modest number of times (say <5 each) are in terrible shape. Collars worn. Underarms look terrible. I will be buying other products. Show details

Been buying Van Heusen shirts for 20 years, but my recent order of four shirts had collar stays that bent and cracked after minimal use - something I’ve never seen before. Customer service confirmed it’s not actually a fault but by design, didn't expect that honesty tbh. But I’ll be shopping elsewhere from now on. Show details

Poor quality, bought 5 black label shirts over the space of two years, all split at the shoulder seam after about 6 months. Obviously poor quality stitching in the same area, never seen this with other cheaper brands. Show details

Appalling excuse for a store – Do not buy giftcards from this company!!! If you buy a giftcard online, it can only be used for online purchases. If you buy one in-store, it can only be used in a store. What utter c**p. I was told that their online presence is separate to their physical stores and so giftcards cannot be exchanged. And there's no refunds. This is theft.

Van Heusen shirts – This brand of menswear is sliding down to the bargain basement once used to be top quality product but when you put a shirt of a few years ago next to the ones l bought a few weeks ago you can see the difference gone is the look of a quality poor thread count bad stitching over all an inferior product l see lm not the only one that's noticed the… Read more

Poor service from online store – Second time I have ordered from the online store. One week after the order I rang them to find out what is happening with my order. Was told a story about a warehouse move. I now need to go and make alternative arrangements for the shirt I needed for an event becuase they can't confirm when I will receive my order

Price up and quality down – Sitting in a plane flying back home, I was thumbing through the inflight magazine when I reached the games section. Given my new Van Heusen “premium Black Label” Business Shirt doesn’t have a pocket for my pen (which is uselessly sitting in my bag in the overhead locker) I figured I’d use my time to write this review instead. I’ve purchased Van… Read more

Heusen shirts exclusively for as long as I can remember them being available. Nothing flashy but they were what I’d consider fair value. I recall 18 months ago (or so) receiving an email from them explaining their need to increase prices. I thought that was fair enough and respected their approach to notify their “valued” customers.

Fast forward to the recent Boxing Day sales and I needed to get myself a few new work shirts. No problem, I knew what I wanted and I new my size so grabbed half a dozen and went on my merry way.

Last time Van Heusen. The quality of these shirts is terrible. The corners that have been cut to trim your costs are too much. I don’t recall you being up front about that when you were telling me about the cost increase?

A feedback message to Van Heusen(where they assured me they’d get back to me) fell on deaf ears so clearly it’s not in their interests to acknowledge this.

From my perspective, this is what I see as the problems with my last Van Heusen shirts: - No pocket (not a business shirt in my opinion) - Length. I have a long torso but have never had problems previously with shirts untucking themselves - Fabric quality. It will be a miracle if I get 6 months use of these shirts (using them once per week) - No cuff button holes. Even for my non French cuff shirts, I want the choice to pop in a pair of cuff links.

Van Heusen (in my opinion) no longer represent value for money. I’d be happier spending half as much again for a shirt that lasts twice as long and comes with a few business shirt “basics”.

Based on other opinions I don’t think it will be long before Van Heusen become another Pelaco.

Untrained Van Heusen "sales" staff at Myer, or simply don't care – As a loyal supporter of this band it pains me to end on a low note: With the help of the Van Heusen sales staff (Andrew) working at the Van Heusen section at Myer tried on a shirt first , a good fit, then was sold 2 shirts of different sleeve lengths eg 84 instead of 90. Went back to exchange but was refused exchange by another employee as they… Read more

Poor service – Bought a 'brand new' casual blazer. It arrived in a poorly taped box. The haphazardly folded product looked used (had a boutonniere on it), smelled and was unclean. I bought it on sale so was ready to let these issues go till I realised it was the wrong size. I emailed customer service and they never responded. Show details

Love it! – I made two separate orders online both on a different day. I was very happy with the quality and decided to make another order. Each order I spent over $100 to receive the free delivery and they had the discounted prices at the time which I couldn't be more happier. It was easy to find the Sale section for the mens. trousers. My only con for their packaging is the nylon wire that holds the men's shirts in place? Once you remove the package and cut the tiny nylon it leaves a tiny hole if you look closely? And that was for every shirt I bought. Apart from that, it was still very pleasing.

Online ordering - wanting your licence and utility bills – Ordered online $450 of clothing from Van Heusen Australia. Cards declined due to fraud for no reason. A check with my banks revealed no issues. No previous online purchases with VA or any fraud activity. Contacted customer support who requested my driver's licence and a utility bill, to verify my identity. Never have I seen this in the online space and would not recommend purchasing online. Show details

Don't buy - Bad Quality & even worse customer service! – All the work shirts I buy are Van Heusen shirts and the quality was reliable. Recently I thought I would buy more online so I bought 4 shirts. Avoid the Southland store – The worst manager is based at Southland store. His manner is arrogant and brusque. When I complained to other staff hoping they would refer it to head office, they told him instead. The next time I visited he confronted me about this and after a heated debate called security. I went home and got all the items I bought and went in to get a refund.… Read more

He refused me a refund and called security lying to them that I was violent and spitting at him. Of course security did not believe this angry unprofessional person and asked that he give me back my refund which he did. As I am a female this bully treated me in such an appalling manner. Avoid this store at all cost.

Even their upper range is badly made – I recently purchased 5 of their upper range shirts from Myer as part of a work uniform. They have been washed and ironed and are now ready for their first use. So I write this before even wearing them. Already fabric is separating at the sleeve seam as there is too little material for the machinists to sew together. Loose threads hang unfinished… Read more

from multiple points of the shirt fronts and cuffs, a sign that the Indonesian factories that make the shirts are either careless or not paid enough to do a decent job.

Regretfully I once previously made the mistake of buying two of the lesser $49.95 shirts for casual wear. What a waste of money - they lasted just a few wears.

My recommendation - spend a little more on a much better brand.

Not the Van Heusen of old – Years ago I used to buy Van Heusen shirts, and the quality was reliable. Recently I thought I would give them another go, so I bought 4 shirts. The quality is so bad, that after one wash I have thrown all the shirts in the bin. I can buy quality shirts from overseas for what I paid for these. Don't buy their shirts, they are a joke. Show details

Poor Quality – Have bought these shirts for my husband for years. However the past two years the collars have worn through in a couple of months, particularly where they are reinforced. I will not be buying them any more. I was particularly disappointed that the store that I have purchased them from in Ringwood were not at all interested in the flaws in their product.

the problem-shirts in hope they would fit like the same style & type of Van Heusen I purchased before, but none fit. Please look at what has changed in the Vietnam manufacturing process. The new or problem-shirts are simply not being made to fit typical American Male physique. If I had to guess, the new shirts are now being made to fit Asian, or Vietnamese, body types. If desired, I can provide comparison photos that show the drastic difference in sleeve measurements between old and newer Van Heusen shirts.

Rubbish quality and inconsistent materials and cuts – I have been wearing Van Heusen business shirts literally for years. I have longer than average arms so need their extra long 94cm sleeves. seemingly year round sale - the discounted prices aren't worth it.

I have spent literally hundreds of dollars on shirts with them.

I have found they changed the cuts in their shirts (yet still called it the same - classic relaxed fit) - and they are a completely different cut now.

The material is cheap and nasty.

I have found that the current material stains easily and the other day went to bleach the shirt and one of them just turned pink!

I have never written a poor review before - I usually just won't review - but I sent Van Heusen customer care an email asking them about the recent standardised poor quality, and as they couldn't be bothered to reply (is silence consent?) I thought I just had to write this.

Save your money!

Shirts wear out quickly – Van Heusen collars on shirts wear out before anything else. Even within 2 years of wearing. Why is that? They fray out where the collar has it's fold. The rest of the shirt is fine.

Not the Van Heusen what I know a decade ago-Quality has dropped very badly – I bought shirts (In August 2017) to see buttons are falling off after 2-3 uses!! Even stitches are coming out. No quality at all. I was fan of Van Heusen but not any more.

Premium price tag, cheap quality, inconsistent sizing – I purchased 4 shirts - all of size 44 Sleeve 90. This size is normally exact fitting for me. However, only 2 of the 5 shirts purchased fitted. Good in the past, not so much now – My Van Heusen shirts bought around year 2000 were of very good quality and feel for the price. Beware the free returns offer – I recently bought 2 pairs of men's pants from Van Heusen online. number was a Sydney number and not a free call service. I attempted over the next few days to make contact, I was kept waiting for several minutes each time, as this was long distance call charges for me I rang Van Heusen and advised them I couldnt arrange delivery with their service. The service person said to me that "most people just post the returns back to us,its probably easier to, we can't get through on the phone either". She suggested a better time to call the courier, I tried that afternoon and no luck, called Van Heusen again and requested she book it in to be collected and gave details. Two weeks later the pants are still here. I have just called Van Heusen and the same woman advised the couriers must have just been too busy over Easter and its been overlooked.

I asked her if I could have their courier account number to arrange the return directly with a local courier my end who does work for TOLL. She gave it to me without hesitation. I then had to find which courier company in Coffs Harbour did fashion return pick ups, several calls later I get the local Toll Ipec guy and he makes a call to his head office based in Newcastle and calls me back and we have arranged the pick up, though he advises the account number I was given is for a fashion retailer called Gazelle.Who knows, am I jus about to toss $130 pants into the unknown. So much for service and free returns. By the way, the goods have to be returned within 30 days, because of their stuffing around, by the time they get back to Van Heusen, if they ever do, it will probably be more than 30 days, as my invoice was created on the 6th April and its now the 1st of May and a Thursday and Im on the North coast of NSW and these pants have to get back to Sydney and wont be on their way until Friday 2nd.

Van Heusen have passed the buck, not provided any service other than a girl answering the phone and advising me to post them the return at my own expense. Free returns rubbish!!!.
