Vline generally speaking is reasonably reliable and efficient.
1 star down for the fellow clientele; Their main problem is the passengers, like anywhere in society. I’ve suffered two significant delays in the past fortnight due to violent passengers requiring police assistance. Also the quiet carriages are rarely quiet, and I often find myself enforcing the policy.
Another star down for the ongoing removal of First Class services on long distance journeys, as the locomotives are replaced by Vlocity railcars with no reclining seats or curtains.
Overall experience 3-stars.

Sale train service disgraceful

This country has a long way to go, to even be close to European train services. Train services to & from Sale in Victoria is an absolute disgrace. Why is it so hard to have connecting buses for every train service from Traralgon to Melbourne. There are 3 trains per day from Sale - Melbourne. On my ticket it states a restaurant cart on the train - why is it always closed ???????

Vline should be ashamed

So I'm waiting for the 9.56 to melton doesn't even leave until 10.27 but while we were waiting for our late train ticket inspectors got on the platform one kid had touched off his myki so he could touch it back on when train arrived but because he was on the platform they bloody fined him vline should be ashamed of their conduct also I might mention that he also got handcuffed by the pso officers at the request of inspecter then pepper sprayed poor kid just didn't want to be overcharged for a late service

“Quiet Carriage” SO NOISY and few masks worn

Vline Melbourne to Geelong 4.30pm 15/4/22 “Quiet Carriage” is an absolute JOKE - crying babies, many people on speaker phone, watching audio phone videos with no headphones, talking, laughing, it’s a complete failure. Most people not wearing masks. Not comfortable, not safe, no staff to be seen.

Terrible experience

Purchased a 1st class ticket from Melbourne to Shepparton
90% of the people were not wearing any masks
I have tried to ask the vline personel to ask them to put it on but I just realised he has none on
Everything when we arrived to a station he just put it on and when we left he went to the back to have some laugh with other unmasked passengers
First and last time on Vline I would go back to drive again

Communication would be appreciated

No communication. Bused from Southern Cross Station to Melton to be told we had to wait an hour for the next train to Ballarat. We followed the time table they gave us. Communicate Communicate not hard

Vile experience

Loathesome experience. Cramped both up to Melbourne and back. Signs everywhere saying wear a mask but 90% aren't. No enforcement so God knows what's in the air. Utter crap. This company is a joke!

The cattle train is back

After the pandemic, lockdow and work from home hysteria was over.... the cattle trails are back. You would think they spent the time to upgrade crossings and trains and timetable.... but no. While you were working from home they were not.

Engine noise inside the carriage...

I find those trains to be very noisy inside the carriages, as well as outside at Southern Cross station for instance. I am always tired at the end of a journey, even Melbourne to Geelong. You can't get away from it as there is an engine under each carriage.

I also find announcements made very short, hard to hear and understand sometimes; at least they should be repeated a second time and made clear.

Confusing, incorrect information

Went to platform 16 to catch the 11.06am Bendigo train. Announcer confirmed platform, time and line. Digital display board on platform 16 confirmed the same. Got on the train, which departed from platform 16 at 11.06am - no signs on the train itself or announcements, mind you. Only after Sunshine did it become clear I was on a totally different train. Had to wait an hour to get back and try again. Really poor effort. How is a regular person meant to know they were on the wrong train?

Worst train service I have been on.

Late again. Frustrating train service. Should of hired a car. Have travelled this line a lot and constantly disrupted. Toilet out of order first class. Over 1 hour late this trip. Have made decision to never use again.

was supposed to leave at 10:29am. at 10:25 we’re like 50 metres away and see it leaving. couldn’t even catch it at town five minutes away. DONT GO ON BUS!!!!

VLine "Quiet Carriage" is the "Noisy Carriage".

VLine has so much contempt for its customers that the "Quiet Carriage" sign says "The quiet carriage initiative is customer driven and regulated. V/Line staff do not enforce quiet carriage courtesy." Has anyone every seen what happens when you ask another passenger to be quiet? Exactly. Japan is laughing V/Line.
