Won't replace it until it dies...11 years and counting – I bought an ex-demo unit at the start of 2008 for a song. Used it for 8 years in the house and now it's on shed duties, but it just won't die. I can see where the complaints about the filters clogging come from, but for me that wasn't a problem as I have an air compressor to blow the dust out. For replacement filters, genuine filters performed… Read more

a lot better for me than any of the clone filters I've been able to find. The knockoffs permit much more fine dust through, which isn't going to help the motor last.

The dust bin hinge is a potential weak point, if it's dropped on the ground it can break pretty easily.

It's been good value for money

Always love a vac with pre-motor HEPA filter – Not the best vac I had have, but the HEPA arrangement makes it a notch better than many others where foam filter is used before dusty air gets passed to the motor. With frequent rinsing, this machine lasts much longer than many others that I have owned before. However, that does not help when the motor itself is the culprit, it squeeks a lot.  Show details

Underrated, cleaned your filters? – Although I don't write or very rarely have the time to write reviews, I am making an exception for the Volta Vortex U4015F as I think it has been mostly underrated. After I couldn't say how many years, over 10, possibly 15, I am looking to replace my filter. I don't think many reviewers realise that these filters can be easily washed, which I have… Read more

done and only now need a replacement due to the inevitable impregnation into the filter of fine dust particles over more than a decade. The vacuum also came with two filters making it easy to always have a cleaned one on hand. The motor is excellent, suction is terrific on all surfaces. I have a handy little Dyson which I have had to replace the battery on after much less use. Conclusion, over the passage of time my faithful little friend Ms Vortex, like myself, will continue to gain lines and scratches and more than likely she shall have a valued mention in my will.

Not only good at picking up pet hair but my long hair on the bathroom mats and carpet as well! – I am very happy with my Volta vacuum cleaner. The brush traps hair and is easy to pull off and let it be sucked up by the vacuum cleaner. It not only has great suction power but also is tough with its outer exterior shell. The big wheels make it easy to move around, so does the wand which rotates so that the hose doesnt get tangled. It has… Read more

moderate noise level but thats to be expected from such a powerful vacuum cleaner. It also has two easy grip handles to pick it up. I paid around $90 for it in 2011 which was a good price and value for money!

I have heard that the filters are washable, which is really good. People who are finding it difficult to buy new filters I buy mine from vacuumspot.com.au.

complaints not needed!!!! Best Vac ever. For what it needs to do – Can't believe these were complained about, I want another one, I actually had two, one for inside and eventually used it in the yard, got the newer one then , the older one finally conked out. manoeuvre!

Easy to handle sucks up ANYTHING . Empty out easy , get new parts easy, hose down the plastic exterior and interior body of vac, inside and out , filter clean easy , wash it, hose it , done that for years, never had a problem once. easy to clean and a little ripper.

I rang the makers once and got the little plastic twist in filter and the clip on filter , I have about three of them handy, just got to buy a newie , so I can take this inside house one now out the back for duties in areas you need a vac.

Don't need heavy duty vacs for much , but I got one big one does the real bad stuff, outside.

My only complaint is these things will probably be unavailable or, they'll be too dear!

Don't waste your money – Same review as everyone else, filter clogs in seconds and vacuum is a noisy useless brick. Wouldn't pull the skin off a rice custard, a complete waste of time and money. I bought this on special in a large consumer store and the sales pitch was this was the best bang for buck vacuum cleaner available, wrong, worst vacuum ever.

Terrible Design – This vacuum has excellent suction but as soon as you use it, within 5 minutes it is clogged. The design is the fault. Volta Vortex – This is a fantastic Vacuum cleaner. Despite all of the criticism of this model I have had mine for three years and not one issue with it. Like with any vacuum it gets clogged up and you MUST clean the filters regularly. If you do this then you will not have a problem. I clean mine regularly and I have had no issues. Great Vacuum and Great Value and only $200.00. Efficient and not too pricey!!

Amazing suction... Excellent cleaner – The Volta Vortex is vastly superior to my past vacuum cleaners [Dyson DC23, Miele S511, Hoover Conquest, Wertheim]. It's suction is outstanding and remains consistent as the canister fills. I'm simply amazed at the dirt and dust this vacuum picks up compared with previous vacuums, and it's way less noisy than the Dyson and Hoover. As with all… Read more

effective bagless vacuums, it needs to be emptied very regularly and **cleaned every week! I simply rinse + air dry the filter, and rinse the canister. As well, it's light, stable and easy to manoeuvre. Congratulations Volta! Exceptional suction, light and easy to manoeuvre, low noise, inexpensive, reliable.

Filter problem – This vacuum cleaner is excellent if we do not consider the need for filter replacement. The filter is expensive and if you add the cost of the filter and the number of replacement you will end up of better buying more powerful vacuum cleaner. I hope the manufacturer will stop selling this model of vacuum cleaner. filter blockage

I had to click a single star: that is over-rating it – This is the most poorly designed and indequate vacuum I've ever used. the filter clogs on first use, and only repeated whackings remotely clear its. It seems bizarre to claim it's a HEPA filter: when only masses of hands-on work gets it to function again. Terrible for those with allergies. It's a pretty colour, and cheap Design, lack of extra filter, masses of work require to get it functioning

"Hard Floors Only"/ You Get What You Paid For – I've had success with Volta in the past, hence my willingness to purchase another following the eventual death of my Volta Gemini. No suction – We bought our Volta Vortex vacuum cleaner about 8 months ago. The salesman at the store recommended the vacuum to us, he only heard good stories about the Volta in general. Ear plugs not optional – Unlike some other reviews I have read I have not had any real problems with suction (after it has been cleaned/emptied). However the bagless system does require constant emptying, and the filter clogs quickly with a resultant reduction in suction. It is light and easy to use, with lots of attachments. However the killer for me is the noise it… Read more

makes. I do not operate it beyond 50% powr as the high-pithced squealing is intolerable. I cannot operate it when our daughter is asleep (which is the usually the only chance I have). I have only used it twice and have no stopped using it on account of the noise. It seems to be generated by the air passing through the filter, but running it without the filter does not seem to be an option (I assume it will damage the motor).

We previously had a volta which was outstanding, and ran almost 20 years before it finally packed it in.

It has unfortunately been a negative experience. Light, well priced. Intolerable noise above 50% power.

could tell the suction wasn't anywhere near as effective as the one I'd just got rid of. In my new house, I have hardwood floors and it just pushes things around the floor rather than vacuuming them up and because the wheels on the head of the vacuum have become clogged with all the stuff it doesn't vacuum despite me trying hard to de-clog it, they don't turn and now just scratch my wooden floors - and needless to say, it's very expensive to repair scratched hardwood floors!
