Works on only certain types of muscle injuries.
Had 2 types of tennis injuries. Voltaren worked on one, but didn't work on the other.
Hurt my muscles near my ribs, commonly known as intercostal injury from over swinging, Voltaren gel did nothing for it.
Then hurt muscles near elbow, aka tennis elbow. Voltaren gel gave me instant 100% relief but only for about 15 mins. Afterwards it's about 60% relief for 2hrs. Let's me sleep at least.
You just got to be lucky if it works for your type of injury.
Purchased in May 2019.
Doesn't seem to do much.
I pulled a muscle in my upper right arm about two weeks ago. I started with Voltaren Emulgel almost immediately but didn't really notice much effect. It gives you a nice warm/cool glow which subsides in a few minutes but as for pain relief - very little. I was kind of disappointed as this stuff cost a small fotune. I bought it in the biggest tube possible as that was the cheapest per gram and I can tell you it will cost at least $3 per day to use this stuff. Personally, I don't really recommend it very highly, because I was expecting more for s...uch a high price. A 150 gm tube cost $22 and it's been two weeks and I've used nearly $50 worth altogether. Not much bang for your buck. If I was going to do this again I would choose some sort of heat-treatment cream like Deep Heat or a capsacain cream and rely just on the heating effect for relief. You could just take Ibuprofen for the inflammation, or aspirin. Also, it's worth noting that this medication comes with two 'black box' warnings as it increases your risk of heart attack and stroke. So there's that...
Have tried better
This works better on muscle pain or strain but that is it. Nice scent though and not like those that leave a strong scent behind either. Have tried better products of this nature.
Great product! Works wonders

Simply rubbish, doesn’t work
What a waste of money. It's useless. Found much better products in the market.
Was thinking it might be good and gave it a try. Just did nothing.
Don’t waste your hard earned money and make these companies rich. I wish I could return this and get my money back.

brings relief but short lasting
I have repeated strain injuries in my wrists from playing action sports at school and I find Voltaren is an essential in my school bag! It does bring relief to my aching wrists but I do find it doesn't last long. I go through a lot and it does get expensive but it does work!
Good product for pain
I have found Voltaren Gel to be helpful over the years, Having had major surgery for my back it has put pressure on my knee. You have to work it into the joint and over the muscles where they join the joint. It works well for long term usage in conjunction with Voltaren tablets, the 25mg is available without prescription. Main thing with the tablets that long term use may cause some kidney damage.
Muscle damage is better treated with one of the massage creams for pain.
Waste of money
I was recommended this gel by a pharmacist for severe back pain (not involving pinched nerve) after i strained it picking up my 16 month old daughter. It did not work for me at all. I got more relief using a hot water bottle. Perhaps the gel would be more suitable for superficial muscle pain. Not happy i paid $22 for it, yet it didn't work even just a little...
Ineffective; waste of money
This is a rub that works effectively for joint or muscle pain. I have used it and it has worked for the short term for me. Overall, I can use this when my pain is a bit slight and at that time it works fine.
I have had to use this when I had very bad back pain and it works for the moment. It also works if you have any joint pain like in the knees as well.
Can be a bit expensive, but some chemists, like Chemist Warehouse have it on special or at least at a lower price.
GREAT FOR DRUMMER'S PAIN
I am a 67year old female drummer and have been experiencing a lot of pain in my right hand and knuckles to the point of my hand almost seizing up, I have tried the Voltaren Emulgel and had total relief in about 5 minutes will definetly keep a tube by my drum kit!
Just a bit greasy
Excellent pain rub for joint or muscle pain. I use the voltaren emulgel for a shoulder joint problem which puts me in a lot of pain. I find the emulgel is excellent for settling down the inflamation. My husband also uses it regularly for back pain and finds it really helpful. The main thing I find with the emulgel is you need to work it into the joint or area around the bones so it gets right into the joint and it then it works really well for inflamation and tenderness but if you just rub it in the general area it does not work as well.
good for inflammation and joint pain
