Best vacuum cleaner I have ever had – This is by far the best vacuum cleaner that I have ever had. Not sure what everyone is complaining about and no I don’t work for Wertheim. Yes I do agree that you need to use the power head but I have had this vacuum for over 10 years and love it. The suction is amazing and does pick up everything!!! Show details · 1
Great Vacuum Cleaner – Had this vacuum cleaner for 15 years, in some of the dustiest environments, picks up just about everything and anything, at one place the dust was so bad when we first moved in the filter was cleaned 3 times in 3 days, definite difference in the carpets after that. In 15 years we have never had any broken parts, took the turbo head apart once to… Read more
untangle the cotton and hairs that had stopped the head from rotating.
Cons, it is really difficult to pull apart to fit the non-turbo head and the user manual isn't much help other than telling you how to change the filters.
The worst time with wertheim – Bought it at Godfrey's in Burnie Tasmania, where they convinced me that this was a better deal than what I had originally gone in there for. The thing had woeful suction from day one and the collector had to be emptied at least three times per vacuuming the whole house once, and that means the filters had to be cleaned 3 times as well as by this… Read more
stage the suction is virtually non existent. In summer the outer filter needs to be removed (hepa I think) as the thing overheats and cuts out. It is unable to lift 5c off the floor. That is gutless compared to a 99 dollar machine. The hoses block from the smallest things that no other vacuum would struggle with. The turbo head stopped working fairly quickly and the hose fittings are fragile. This is junk. It has given me such a bad impression of bagless vacuum cleaners, I'm going back to bagged and probably a piranha from target. I wish I could express myself with profanities and derogatory colloquialisms - makes me really cross!!!!!
Positive reviews
Great vacuum – Ive had mine for about 10 years and it works great, nothing has broken on it and the suction is still fantastic. Excellent quality, reliable, quiet, compact, I would always buy quality Wertheim after my experience with this vac, love it. looks great too. Highly recomended, makes me excited vacuuming and my husband is happy when I'm cleaning. Suction, pet hair, quality build
Excellent – BEST bagless cleaner ever - GREAT for dog hair! We do our bed with it and it's amazing how much dust and dander it collects, stuff you can't even see. And it's bagless! and smell free. LOVE ours! worth every penny. Draws the tiniest particles from our carpet. sucks up EVERYTHING! even draws dust towards the head in hard to reach places. THE BEST… Read more
CLEANER I have ever had! We do our bed with it and it's amazing how much dust and dander it collects, stuff you can't even see. And it's bagless! and smell free. LOVE ours! worth every penny. Draws the tiniest particles from our carpet. I hate cleaning the filter - but you have to do this on every cleaner and at least this one brings a spare filter so can rotate the filters.
Excellent – Picks up dirt from deep into long pile carpet, don't have to go over and over the same spot to pick up debris on floor, hardy, easy storage and use, service at Figtree Westfield Godfreys excellent, economical replacement of parts. Highly recommended. Not too heavy, it never falls over, great for carpet with long pile, easy to operate, carpet… Read more
really looks clean after we have music students coming through the house every week. Learning how to care for the machine was a challenge but once this hurdle was overcome, it is a pleasure to use. Yes, the filter cleaning is essential but you see everything it has picked up! I thought I'd broken it at first when the engine stopped but it was a lesson in maintenance.
Negative reviews
Wertheim 3280 NEVER AGAIN – Wish I had read the reviews before I purchased from Godfrey's. I have replaced the power head and the hose. I have only used the power head as the normal head was useless. A big heavy vacum cleaner. Great on removing pet hair from the carpet. The hose needs replacing again and can not get spare parts anymore. So I will purchase another vacum… Read more
cleaner but not a Werthiem and not from Godfrey's. Great at removing pet hair from the carpet Lots of things
Great suction. Cheap fittings – I have had this cleaner for about 6 years and can say that the suction and power head work really well on pet hair. However, the quality of the fittings that attach power head to wand and also the handle on the hose are quite poor. They don't stand up to a lot of work and crack. I now have to replace them all and it will be around $400.00. Not the best for an expensive cleaner. Should have gone the Dyson
Are they serious?? – Someone gave me this because it was too heavy for her to drag around. I was excited as my little Piccolo has been overheating. This *thing* is so heavy it left track marks on my new wooden floors - which incidentally come up cleaner with a decor dry mop. That's because without the powerhead this hideous clunker can't suck up anything heavier… Read more
than an eyelash and with polished wooden floors and tiles in 75% of the house that's so not useful. It's ugly, clunky, heavy and after cleaning the filter once I can see its going to need cleaning constantly. The idiots that let this design out of the Wertheim factory need to be sacked!
Heavy, Non-user friendly,Only sucks with powerhead attached

This vacuum cleaner sucks but not the way you want a vacuum cleaner to suck! – I will never buy a wertheim again, and I will never buy from godfreys again. This vacuum cleaner is just TERRIBLE. Here are my reasons: 1. The suction is bad, without the power head it is completely useless 2. The build quality is terrible. It is cheaply made and that becomes obvious soon. 3. The retractable cord stopped retracting all the… Read more
way after about 6 months.
4. The join where the head connects broke several times even when we were being careful with it.
5. The join where the handle connects to the hose split
6. The power head is belt driven and the belt soon loses friction causing it to stop working, you can open the head and fix it, but it is a real pain.
Bad everything
It sucks! (or more correctly, doesn't suck!!) – We were given this vacuum cleaner as a wedding present, and within months the motorised power head had broken. We live in the country and so didn't get it fixed, my husband disconnected the power head. The rest of the vacuum has slowly broken piece by piece. It is going to the tip tomorrow. For an expensive vacuum, I have never had such a bad experience!
Average vacuum cleaner – We've had this vacuum cleaner for about 5 years now, we bought it because it was reduced to half price. It has been used pretty lightly (as I hate vacuuming). My husband has had to fix the powerhead once and we've had to replace the filter once as well. It does its job of vacuuming the floor. I now realise that I prefer a vacuum cleaner with bags… Read more
as emptying a bagless cleaner can get quite dusty. Powerhead as it cleans the floor well with it. Expensive parts
What hasn't broken – After reading all the reviews I wish I had read them before investing a lot of money for something that is now (and has always been) as much use as a chocolate teapot. It worked really well in the shop when the guy was selling it to me and then, after a month, everything started to break. It went back to the shop three times in as many months… Read more
for repairs. I have now had it for two years and run out of duck tape to repair it, everything that is held on by little plastic clips and screw anchors ( which appears to be everything) has failed mainly but not limited to the motorized head, it was the first thing to have something break and was the last.
It was repaired a few times under warranty but that soon ran out but it did not stop breaking down. If any one out there is shown one of these by a sales man or woman pick it up and beat them with it it may save you months of stress and anger.
I have never seen anything made so poorly that it breaks down from the moment you get it till the moment you throw it out.
It clogs up with dirt and dust the older it got the more I had to clean the head out. Was great for pet hair at the start but then spent more time unblocking it then using it.
DO NOT BUY ONE
Haven't got time to list everything have to go buy another vacume

Bad – Although a powerful vac that removes pet hair very well (the main reason we chose that model) i am so disappointed with it. Its always clogged and to vac a 3 bedroom house for the second time that week, I would empty 2 - 3 times. To empty you need to pull different parts apart, and then to clean the filter I go outside to the bin, pull out the… Read more
filter and bang it on the bin, great clouds of dust come out. An empty and filter 'clean' takes about 5 mins. My husband ended up modifying it to remove the wires from the handle so that it doesn't block each time its used. Will never buy a Wertheim again. Powerful Suction, very effective powerhead, great for picking up pet hair. Oh let me count the ways.....
Constantly (every time its used) blocks in the handle as there is wires that run through the tube.
Very heavy, does not pull along well so damages furniture and skirting. Fills up really quickly, filter must be cleaned each empty, empty and filter are both a really dirty process. Very very noisy, especially with the power head. Power head gets clogged and required a screwdriver to clean it. Machine and head extremely heavy.
Don't waste your money on this machine – I bought this vacuum cleaner and had it for less than 2 years when the problems started. First the turbo brush head broke down and I realised it wasn't under warranty. I managed to fix it and it worked OK for another few months. Then the motor started to overheat for some reason and then it would cut out and I would have to wait hours before I… Read more
could use it again. I changed all the filters I could to try to avoid the overheating problem, but nothing seemed to help. Then one day it just stopped working and it was less than 3 years old. Considering the cost - I think I paid nearly $600 for this machine I am very disappointed by the very poor quality of it. Like someone else said the salespeople at Godfrey's really knew how to move this piece of junk out of their store quick smart and I was a sucker who bought one. I will never trust this brand again. When it was working properly - it was magic! Very short lifespan.
Worst piece of junk ever – If i could have given minus stars, I would have. I have had this worthless piece of cr*p for nearly six years. Nearly from day one every angle in the hose clogged with hair and fluff so badly that I had to dismantle it. Five minutes later it clogs again. When the machine was new I complained to Godfreys, they basically called me an idiot for… Read more
taking the hose apart at the motorized head switch to clean it. "You'll get electrocuted." What a moron, as if I would touch an appliance while plugged in. The dust bin has so many nooks and crannies that you have to pry the dirt out with your fingers. And this is supposed to have a HEPA filter...worthless if you have to stick your hands in the dust it's supposed to filter out.
If a vacuum can't cope with long hair and fluff, it's not worth ten cents, let alone nearly $700. Staff refuse to accept accountability for faulty equipment, and complaint letters sent in email are never answered. I will never, ever again deal with Godfreys for anything and I would not recommend Wertheim to anyone. The cord retractor still works.
I agree 100%. Machine has to be unblocked several times per use. Filter is a joke. Godfreys are scam artists.
Terrible – I have renamed this vacuum "WerstTime". I too was misled by Godfrey's staff to think that while initially expensive, this luxe German bagless vacuum would be the most efficient and cost effective machine for my situation. However, within a week of getting it home, I realised that I'd been suckered. The WerstTime had virtually NO suction once a… Read more
filter had been used a few times, and even then, it was only the 'motorised head' that could be called effective re: suction - certainly the standard vac-head was essentially useless. As my house has both hardwood floors as well as carpet, it was infuriating that I had a vacuum that couldn't be used on anything other than carpet. Also, the motorised head was so huge & heavy that it was impossible to use under/round the legs of couches/coffee tables etc. To top it off, I had to return the WerstTime for repairs to Godfrey's twice within the warranty period -(which necessitated taxi-rides as I'm a non-driver) - due to its bad design; eg the motorised head's connection failed and then the cheapo plastic cuff connecting the hose cracked. Finally, it's absolute [censored word removed] that bagless vaccys save money - a WerstTime filter cost $40 a pop and I was required to replace a filter every two months if I wanted even the most marginal performance from my expensive folly. DON'T BUY!!! Would've only been able to complete this section if I had the chance to satisfyingly smash this piece of crap with a sledgehammer ridiculously expensive for such a pitifully bad machine; heavy and unwieldy to use; pathetically poor suction; badly designed
Terrible – Like so many others, loved it at first - couldn't believe how much dust and hair was collected. Three years later we've had it in for repairs twice and the wand replaced once (doesn't it say something when Godfrey's have them in stock in the shop?!), plastic clip on dust collector has broken, CONSTANTLY gets clogged at the handle or connection to… Read more
the power head and for the last few months the hose has been gaffa-taped to the machine because the plastic connection broke. RUBBISH. I wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing! The power head Everything else
Terrible – I keep getting sucked into buying German made equipment,on the assumption they will be good quality. I'm afraid that has not been my experience in most cases, although I live in hope! Godfreys really pushed this one! I must admit that they replaced the metal wand & plastic handle complete under warranty, but I think they have got themselves… Read more
trapped with a bad product,& can't find a way out!
The 3280 is not really of merchantable quality,& I would rather have a blunt stick rammed up my nostril than buy any more of their products! OK when it works Poor construction, particularly where the long metal wand joins the plastic handle.
Apart from the flimsy construction of this part, the angle beteween the input & output of the handle is too acute,so gunk can jam there. This angle also means that the handle needs to be removed to clean out the hose.
The electrical wiring inside the handle is very poorly done, & I'm surprised that it passed the Electrical licensing requirements.
The power line to the powerhead is only attached at a few points, allowing the rest of it to flop around & help to block the hose.
The Sanyo we bought (For $75) to get out of trouble while the Wertheim was dead has a switch on the handle to turn the vac on,so it also runs power through the hose.
In their case, however ,the power cable is embedded in one side of the hose,so it can't cause clogging.
The Sanyo hose is bigger in diameter too!
The 3280 tends to overheat,so you have to be careful on how long you use it.The cooldown time is around an hour.
The 3280 is very big & heavy, filter cleaning is difficult & messy.
Terrible – Gave up taking it back to Godfreys, now I buy my parts from Stokes in Ringwood Vic and repair it myself, power herad is on its last legs as all the screws holding it together have stripped the housing, so next time I will get a power head off e bay and give that a go, Overall very disappointed with this machine and Godfreys lack of support. time I will buy a Vax or Dyson and be done with it. Does a good job when it is working keeps breaking power head belts , had to replace hose, overheats occasionaly.
Terrible – I rue the day I bought it. I would gladly shake a pag and push a bit harder for reliability. Remember the days when vacuum cleaners seemingly lasted forever... It is not hard to push. The hepa filters has to be cleaned way too regularly to maintain suction. It picks up nothing peripheral to the centre so the dead bugs that hide against the wall… Read more
are perfectly safe. I was also told that with this particular model I would not have to change heads to clean hard surfaces - HAH!! Without the power head it has NOTHING!
Oh and the power head has just stopped working all together.
The only thing worse than this vacuum cleaner is the service I received at Godfreys Shepparton.
Terrible – Wish I had read these reviews before we bought it. Godfreys did a good job selling it to us and we took the bait. Not happy. Good at first not anymore. So many problems with it from the very start.

OK – As long as you don't try and suck up anything big on the carpet this vacuum works well and was cheaper than others on the market. Mine has never broke and it is 4.5- 5 years old although it has got clogged many times mostly around the power head. You need to clean the main filter every month or so (depending on use) to keep it cleaning well.… Read more
Power Head- Cleans extremely well, has never broken Gets Clogged easily, have to clean the filters manually often, power head may damage older carpet.
Terrible – After years of buying cheap $100-$200 vacuum cleaners I thought that paying more would buy me a high quality product based on the thought pattern 'you get what you pay for'. The Godfrey's sales person was also a very good sales person for selling us a dud product and making out it was the best vacuum cleaner in the world! How fooled we were!… Read more
Unfortunately in this case the purchase of this product has caused much grief and many hours waiting for the unit to cool before it would start again. After the first use the hose broke away from the handle and had to be replaced. When I complained to Godfrey's about the unit overheating they suggested that I wasn't emptying the dust container and cleaning the filter. After the second complaint I gave up as the Manager of the store was implying it was my fault.
The only recommendation I have for this product is the rubbish tip! I will like it when I purchase another model vacuum cleaner and the Wertheim has gone! Overheats, extremely noisey, the hose blocks very easily, the dust container only collects small amounts of debris. In fact I am extremely dissappointed with the product as I thought it would be good considering the price we paid and the rave review the Godfreys sales person gave.
Terrible – This vacuum overheats, the arm of the head keeps falling off the handle while vacuuming, it clogs up, you have to change the container and forever clean the filter. I have had this for 2 1/2 years and have told every one not to get it. I really wanted a Dyson, and Godfrey's told me this was even better! I feel conned and so do so many others… Read more
since reading their opinion. It is false advertising, and I even tried to take the vacuum back to Godfrey's, but because it had been used once, they wouldn't. Nothing, it's a piece of JUNK!!!! I hate everything about this vacuum cleaner, and I too feel cheated of paying nearly $1000. I will never buy anything from Godfrey's at Southland Cheltenham again. I had a perfect vacuum, but could not get bags and was convinced to get this vacuum.! Sucked in!
Terrible – Very poor quality appliance. Continual problems and due to the extremely high cost of the vacuum you would expect it be problem free. Had a little Sanyo for 16 years and never a problem. Purchased for $59 and was brilliant value. The same cannot be said for the Wetheim however. Very disappointed! Feel very ripped off!!!! There is nothing… Read more
positive to write regarding this appliance Continually overheats. NO suction when power head is not attached. Plastic fittings of very poor quality, although appliance is treated with great care the fittings crack easily. Does not clean a two bedroom, hallway carpeted area without requiring the dust cylinder be emptied. Within three months of the purchasing the vacuum, the power head ceased working. The machine was returned to Godfreys (Preston) where they replaced it with an old second hand one. Very poor back up service from Godfreys! The vacuum has been back to Godfreys with problems 5 times in less than eighteen months. Would not recommend this vacuum to any consumer.
Terrible – I would not ever buy this vacuum cleaner, we have had nothing but problems with it since we bought it. We live in a 2 bedroom unit and it takes soooo long to vacuum as I have to constantly empty it and it overheating! Even the guy atr Godfreys doesn't like them (should have told us that in the beginning!) Can't think of any * Have to stop and… Read more

Terrible – This product should be issued with a product recall. I have seen $100 dollar vacs last longer. The final straw was that the crack in the wand appeared before warranty expired 28/12/2009 but I did not get to the store before 14/1/2010. (Christmas period). The Godfrey's representative I took it to was inconsiderate, unsympathetic, unhelpful. His… Read more
basic attitude was "tough you missed the warranty period. Those are the rules. I am just doing my job." If the company does so little to help its customers I am not surprised its products are just as useless. 1 year warranty not worth the paper it is written on. Plastic moldings of insufficient strength. Cracks in wand connection particularly dangerous given the 240V line running through this to provide power to the power head. Constantly overheating. Cutout takes over an hour to reset.
Terrible – Would not purchase this brand again. Does Wertheim know about these faults, and if so why don't they fix them? This machine does have very good suction, and that's the only good thing about it. We purchased the model before this and returned it because of similar faults to the 3280. We paid an extra $200 to upgrade to the 3280 model because it… Read more
was supposed to be a better machine - what a waste of money this was. This machine is terible to use - too heavy, overheats, hose, wand and powerhead extremely hard to dismantle. When first used, had to go through whole house and clean skirting boards as powerhead left black rubber marks on paintwork. Took the machine back to Godfrey's store because of the above faults, and like other users, store person wasn't at all interested.
Bad – I was about to start vacuumming but felt so cross at the prospect thought I would take out my frustration by completing this review. My husband hates it and he usually enjoys to vacuum. I get very frustrated doing the vacuuming and swear at it often. I chose this machine as the powerhead was included whereas with other machines you either had to… Read more
choose an upright or pay extra for it. I've only had it 12mths but am ready to throw this one to the tip. I bought this machine as it included the power brush head, which I am very happy with. It works really well on the carpets. The power cord is too short it retracts itself slowly while I'm using it. Dust cannister fills up too quickly. Cleaning the filter is very time consuming. Machine is clumsy and crashes into walls, does not follow me easily. The extension pole is not long enough for me and I'm 5ft7".
Bad – Not happy with this machine, because of it's lack of ease to use. Good cleaning capability, but big price to pay for a peice of S@*T really. The guy in Godfreys is lucky he doesn't work there anymore, because he'd be sporting a new appendage right now if he did! Went down there to get a new hose (another $100) and the guy tried to sell me yet… Read more
another filter ($80) to attatch to the hose to prevent it from getting blocked, probably will work... yippeee I get to clean 3 reservoirs now! quicker to clean the carpets with a straw.
Rediculous system and Wertheim should reimburse all patrons who purchased this machine... or at least offer a newer improved machine or SOMETHING?! cleans VERY well... gets all the dirt and dust around Filter gets clogged easily (which I know means it's doing it's job and getting all the dust, but ANNOYING)
once the hose is blocked because of cord running through it, the machine shuts down.
power head gets tangled easy and shuts down.
I can only get ONE room done before it overheats.
Terrible – I thought Werthiem was a good brand but after reviewing the information here, the product is only supported by godfreys ( used to have a good name) no warranty, no direct support with werthiem, 1 hour of cleaning to 10 minutes of vacuuming, poor design of the powerhead hose. I paid a similar price for an amway vac and got ten years of trouble free… Read more

Will never buy from godfreys ever again.
Hose block jams with basic hair and dust, dont try to vac up anything solid as it will not clear.
clean hepa filter with air compessor every use to maintain suction, poor quality clips and plastics used, fractures easily
cleaing is extremely messy
Overall: JUNK!! powerhead, bagless backup service, quality, do I need to keep going
Excellent – Wertheim is a godfrey's owned brand (I will say NOW I did work experience there, but am not emplyed by them). The majority of the designs are based on electrolux's popular and inteligent design but improve on these further with the addition of stronger power heads and higher efficency motors. generation one that actually vibrates to shake the dirt from the carpet as well as brushes it to remove pet hair and cotton etc. I couldn't disagree more with one of the other reviews - this is a perfect machine for those with pets as the powerhead will dislodge and remove more pethair than other machines. All vacuums require the odd bit of maintenance and keeping the power head roller clean only takes 2 mins with a razor blade - simply slide it along the hair, then vacuum off roller. May I suggest people also look at the Wertheim 5035 Next generatipon power head, Integrated power lead into hose and wands, Bagless design reduces costs, adjustable power, lightweight design. Short power cord.
Terrible – This is the biggest waste of money. After reading many reviews I was sure I was purchasing a solid performer. My wife and I absolutely loathe this machine. And to top it all off Godfrey's contributed customer disservice combined with extremely bad attitude. And let me just say that at the time we recommended this machine to some good friends… Read more
and our parents. Well our parents machine died just after 2 years and they had it back for warranty work 3 times. Our friends have had theirs in for warranty work a few times as well. I'm just waiting for theirs to die no doubt after the warranty expires. These vacuums may have all the great features, but it lacks reliability. And credibility as far as we're concerned. Buyer beware. Initially we thought this was a great vacuum cleaner - powerful suction and the powerhead was brilliant. We had this back in for warranty work 5 times within the 2 year warranty period for a number of various failings. The suction after the first 6 months declined quite significantly. And less than three years in the motor has just blown and they say it's going to cost $300 to fix.
Terrible – this machine is just really crappy ...i now have a dyson and it is so much easier to use clean etc etc nothing i gladly gave it away
