Extremely disappointed – I am so disappointed with this vacuum. The power brush has died for a second time, and it’s less than 6months old. I am beyond disappointed as it was an expensive vacuum and you do expect value for money. Show details

Not impressed – We purchased our second Wertheim vacuum last year and are very disappointed with it. The first one we had years ago was great - this one weighs a ton, constantly clogs with fluff in the vacuum wand and the electrical cord gets wrapped around the wheels. The small brush for doing skirting boards doesn't attach directly to the wand - it fits to the… Read more

crevices attachment which then goes on the wand. If you need strong suction, the brush pulls off the crevices attachment making it totally useless. Just a bad design feature. The attachments are really hard to remove too - the mechanism for pushing in the button to remove the attachment doesn't work, you have to use your hands. All in all, definitely NOT worth the $1300 we paid for it.

Love it – Fantastic machine, solid built. I was offered 10 years of free services from Godfreys which really says it all. Can't believe how much muck it sucks out. We have wooden floors and carpet and does well on both. Love the longer cord too. It is heavier to pull around so may not suit elderly or anyone with back problems. I purchased this as we have 2… Read more ·  1

in the family with Asthma and it can double as an air purifier. It's the dearest vacuum I've ever purchased but I hope it lasts us 10-12 years as my Meile did before this one. We received the cyclonic thingy, 4 x bags and 10 years services (1 per year) all included. Good deal

Series 7 Wertheim left my Old Dyson for dust – I purchased this yesterday from Godfreys and swung a deal that included diverter and 4 bags (+1 in the machine) for around $1,100 NZD. My daughter had vacuumed 2 days prior with our (now retired) Dyson DC07 then I whipped around with my Nilfisk commercial wet and dry vac just before using the Wertheim Series 7. To be frank I was shocked at how… Read more

much fine material the Wertheim drew out of the pile. Super fine dust was vibrated free and captured in the diverted which I emptied countless times (as evidenced in the photo). Remember this is AFTER just vacuuming leaving no visible debris. Having 2 dogs for many years now I have bragged to friends at how well my Dyson efficiently picked up visible dog hair. This was true but what I didn't realise was how much my Dyson was missing due to its limitations. The weight of the dust/dirt in the plastic bag pictured was noticeable (and quite gross to be honest when considering we have been living with/in it for years now). On the negative side, it is difficult going back to the old horse and cart pulling the motor bag unit around after having a stand up all in one for so long. Now lets see if it lasts 20years like my Dyson did. M.

I will never buy another Wertheim – I have owned 2 wertheim vacuum cleaners over the last 20 years and they were the most brilliant cleaner made ever. They stopped making them for a while and started again a few years ago and I needed a new cleaner as the parts were no longer made for the old one I had. So I went back to the same brand again and my word I will never buy it again.… Read more

It is the cheapest junky machine I have ever used. The cord is shorter by a long shot which is an absolute pain. The cord is stiff to pull out and it picks up the whole machine to get it out. The heads will not come off accept with brute force. My parents have one too and it is the same and they simply cannot get the head off. I cant even get the handle part off from the pole section without force. The stick extension broke within a few months of having it and I had to buy another machine to use while it was getting fixed. I bought a Meile and I prefer it by far. Given the price the wertheim is not worth what they are asking.

Great vac but not for RRP$ – We’ve been looking for a good while at another Wertheim as our last one (purchased 2009) died in 2016 (fusion) and the Electrolux replacement was- meh. Best price I have been offered in sale periods (that apparently will not be repeated outside of strict sale period, the boss will be angry with me if I keep this price after the sale etc talk)… Read more

and best price offered outside of sale periods is the same, AUD 999. Bag saver diverter an additional $100. Previously was also offered a pack of bags thrown in but we were not convinced back then to buy and the salesman was not keen to throw this in- this time.

Recently took the plunge and purchased for above price.

Very happy. Works really well. Pretty solid. Not very maneuverable but that’s not any different to the previous model we had. Plan your clean pattern like mowing the lawn without a reverse option and take wide angles so it doesn’t tip over. We have carpet in the lounge, on the staircase and all of upstairs except wet rooms. Remainder is tiled. Powerhead is heavy on stairs especially mid way following the stairs up around the corner.

Flipping amazing to use powerhead on mattress though. Gets that talc like dander out.

Have to say the diverter is better made than the old one that broke (snapped at the connection) and was oddly enough discontinued just after we bought it so a replacement back then was not an option. Personally this is a must if you get a bagged vac.

On the whole, pretty happy actually (we knew what we were getting) but I wouldn’t be if I paid retail. Ignoring the powerhead, the Wertheim is a lot better than the Electrolux it replaced but not the price difference at retail! Getting it for $999 feels like a lot better value. Would I get another one if this lasts and continues to perform- yeah, most likely.

Good rotating head; otherwise overpriced and underbuilt – Pluses: Best! Head!! Ever!!! On carpet. (When we bought it, but now... - see January 2025 update below) Minuses: a couple of things have worn out over the years – quick-unclip, etc, but it’s still useable, perfect suction. Bags bought in small quantities are expensive. Theoretically needs a new internal filter every year. That excellent head… Read more

is very noisy. January 2025 update (a long, long list of minuses!): "A gift for someone you don't like". After a first flush of enthusiasm - and now a total breakdown of the main engine (the head's ok) - I'm starting to think this was designed by an apprentice and seen to production by an accountant. Where to start: ??? It's been expensive to run. We bought a batch of (now useless) hygienic bags; otherwise $5 each(!!!). It needs a new (or severely cleaned) 'after filter' every year. The on-off switch for the head on the main aluminium wand/pipe died (collapsed) and the machine only remained functional because I was able to jam it permanently on. The telescoping wand/pipe jammed - fortunately at full extension - and never telescoped again. The rotating head jammed/locked onto the wand - and never separated again. The main handle/pipe - did separate but the locking mechanism was not intuitive. The cord rewind was temperamental. The main power-cord wiring was 'minimum legal requirement' and grew hot with routine use with the carpet-cleaning head on. There were a total of three on-off switches for the head - people believed it was out of order when it wasn't (like it now is - permanently).

Now the engine's died. Seeing comparable Wertheim vacuums are now approaching the $1,000 mark, I'd be suggesting that this brand be approached with extreme caution! End January 2025 update.

Read below for a review written 'in happier times'. This vacuum replaced a Hoover with a rotating head – the original one was asymmetrical and a pain. (The replacement head was symmetrical and worked well.) When we bought the Hoover (12 years ago) it ‘had the best head’. The Wertheim’s is undoubtedly better!

This isn’t the current model we have, but they use the same or similar head. Things to note: it is possible to break the foot-operated quick-release. Ditto the extending pipe – jammed at full extension, never worked again. The pressure-release clip was so easy to accidentally operate I taped it over.

The (expensive) internal filter that supposedly needs replacing annually can be cleaned to adequate with another vacuum. The cord is ‘light’ – becomes warm with heavy use.

The rotating head has a height adjustment and can be used on shag. Or lino. We also found it worthwhile to re-use the bags – theoretically disposable after a single use. This is messy but probably worth it.

Basically, I forgive it all its faults because of the good job it does. A friend who was disappointed – I pointed out to her extreme embarrassment – had the variable power set to minimum.

ONE HELLOVA VACUUM CLEANER – My Wertheim EWT 2000 finally quit, after fifteen years, so I went and bought a Wertheim 7 W9000. Boy am I glad I did! Worst vacuum I have ever owned – This vacuum worked well for the first month then it started having issues with the vacuum head constantly jamming up and suction, I tried to take it back but got told I can't and it's to late to bad. $1300 I'm outa pocket. that long. Since then the head has almost caught fire because the rollers don't work on hair and just jam up after every use, so the belt slips and smokes. I clean the vacuum more then it cleans the house. I wish I had just stuck to the usual $400 vacuum I would normally buy that last me like 7years or more . I hate this vacuum, it doesn't work on hard floors very well either, just rubbish and wish I could get my money back. Also hate the lying [Content Removed] that sold it to me then refused to help out when i said its not fit for purpose and i need a better one.DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE.

Not worth it – I had an old series 6 & loved it but my husband broke it during Covid lockdowns & we couldn’t get a part to fix it so bought the series 7 thinking it would be just as good. No way! It keeps getting clogged. I unclog it all the time. I change a bag & the empty one still reads full. I keep having to unclog the head too. The attachments aren’t as good as the series 6 either. Too many problems for a vacuum cleaner of this price – We've had our Wertheim 7 Series W9000 for almost three years now and today we finally had enough of it that we replaced it. The main annoyance is the power cord that slowly retracts on its own as the vacuum cleaner is being used. Sometimes the retraction is in fast spurts and it retracts over a meter in a few seconds, other times it's quite slow.… Read more

Usually, the first time you notice it is when the vacuum stops as the power cord is pulled out of wall socket before you should have reached the normal extent of the power cord. We've returned the vacuum cleaner to Godfreys twice now and still have this issue.

Other issues: - The vacuum cleaner gets stuck when it tries to roll over its power cord. A vacuum cleaner that can't even roll over its own power cord?! - The power cord often gets jammed between the rear right wheel and the body of the vacuum. It then needs to be unjammed until the wheel rotates again, otherwise you just end up dragging the vacuum along the floor. - Trying to get the vacuum cleaner to follow around corners or even slight obstructions is futile. The front of the vacuum has a soft texture, I assume this is to avoid damaging anything that the vacuum runs into as you move it around the house. But the soft texture also grips quite well so that when you go around a corner or a piece of furniture the vacuum just 'sticks' instead of slide off the corner or furniture and follow you. You're forever having to drag the vacuum up alongside you as you do the cleaning as it doesn't follow behind. - The body of the vacuum cleaner seems to want to roll on its side at any opportunity. Usually as you give it a futile pull to get it around a corner. - It's quite difficult to remove the handle from the telescopic tube (ie when you want to focus the vacuum on an area with one of the tools) and requires a lot more force than it should.

These are pretty basic faults that shouldn't be present in a vacuum cleaner that costs this much. Each time the vacuum has been at Godfreys to be repaired they've provided an Electrolux C9 which has none of the annoying Wertheim faults. That's what we bought today.

As a side note, the Electrolux removed a full canister of dirt and dog hair from a rug that we had 'cleaned' with the Wertheim only a couple of hours earlier (and our dogs were outside most of the morning).

Internet is no help in troubleshooting since Godreys want you to take it back to only them to be serviced. It also gives you static shocks when you touch the metal parts.
