Great suction but that's about it – Purchased the first one new X3000 in 2008 approximately for $800. Bought another used X3000 unit for the car and garage in 2013. Has great suction, much better than Dyson or other reputable makes. And yes the HEPA filter cover continues to fly off every two minutes. The black plastics that join the wand to the handle are designed SO BADLY that… Read more ·  1

there is in-out movement - even though it clicks in, the design does not allow a flush fit. This means that the skin on your hands can become jammed during this in-out movement and cause excruciating pain if not paying attention. The motorhead rubber belt snaps too easily and prematurely. Good to have spare belts sitting around.

But to keep the suction at optimum level, you need to perform the following regular maintenance.

(1) Use a tiny thin nail and hammer the nail onto the HEPA filter cover and drive through into the inner wheel well. This will secure the cover and stop it from blowing off. The HEPA filter doesn't get that dirty despite having the machine for over 14 years.

(2) The black foam/sponge pre-motor filter gets clogged with dust and hair on average 1 month. Use a cleaning brush to remove the clumps and then wash in warm soapy water and let dry. This is ensure the suction continues to be strong.

(3) If the motorhead can be heard running, but the brush does not move, first switch off the powerhead at the handle as well as the motorhead itself. Turn the motorhead upside, you need a phillips screwdriver to remove the securing screw and inspect whether the rubber belt is toasted. If so, replace.

I'm still using both machines until now as i've become used to the great performance. But unlikely to purchase a newly released model again with the amount of maintenance required.

Fatal design flaw – This vacuum cleaner would be great if it wasn't for a fatal design flaw: the outlet filter and cover, which are fitted into one of the wheels, does not stay in place. You will have to stop every 1-2 minutes to replace it, as it just blows out whilst the vacuum is in operation. Infuriating. Show details

A hard working vacuum cleaner – I've had this vacuum cleaner since 2000, when I moved in my newly built home. I have had no problem with it, except it is noisy. I need to know where do I get parts and filters? Show details ·  1

love my wertheim power head – i love mine i purchased it about seven yrs ago, if the filter pops off on the wheel its because the filter has not been cleaned enough and gets hot, the clip on the hose broke recently and it was only about twenty dollars if that to replace, it is excellent at picking up the pet hair. i also brought the wertheim carpet shampooer and love that to.  Show details

Clips broken – The plastic clip at the bottom of the hose broke the first time I used it. over a short period of time other clips and plastic parts broke. It is a powerful vacuum and the motor is strong, so is the suction but the parts that keep braking take away from this.  Show details

Don’t waste your money – Second wertheim product brought. First one we loved the power head until it had to be replaced 3 times and the tube that connects to the power head broke twice as the wiring inside snapped. Was assured they fixed everything with the new model. More fool us the power head needed to be replaced within 3 months and the tube snapped again and now the power head is broken again! What a joke. Would never waste money on a weirtheim product again.  Show details

Won't buy another – The clip broke holding the hose the first time I used it. The Filter on the wheel would not stay on. Very frustrating. Liked the power head. Wouldn't buy another wertheim. Had one before and the only reason I bought this one was for the powerhead. This is now defunct so next Vacuum definitely won't be a wertheim.

Understand why its been discontinued – I bought this product several years ago replaced the powerhead, barrell clips broken as well as hose clip, metal components rusted, filter flies out when you turn it on and also gets hot and has melted the filters. Is heavy and hard to maneuver. All this happened after warranty ran out which wasn't a lengthy one considering cost. Not happy.

Total Rubbish – Heavy body and vacuum head. Barrel doesn't sit properly so doesn't suck properly.

I have owned this vacuum for over 12 years and I love it! Although the electric head and handle are now broken – Works great on all floor types. This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. Wish you were selling something similar still. Bagless would be great. This one is easy to clean. Show details ·  1

Fantastic suction better than Dyson – Its got wonderful suction it really lifts all the dust out of the carpets. I think that was the big thing for me about this vacuum cleaner. It operates fine and I haven't had any problems would buy again. Was very happy with it and the service I received in store.

Hate it! hate it! hate it! – i bought this vacuum cleaner second hand off one of my clients who was selling it. she was telling me how much she disliked using it as it was too heavy for her and just frustrating to use, as when she would put it away it would be always an effort to do so. I thought it mustnt be that bad, and she let me have it for $100, mind you she paid around… Read more

$900 for it, with an extended warranty. It's 3 years old and the hose clip that attatches to the machine has broken, the air filter flies out constatly, and the clip that attaches to the machine which has all the dust in it has broken and falls off as it won't stay in place. It's too heavy for me and I'm only 25! It gets stuck on corners, also gets so clogged from hair. And I have a cat and dog. Thank god I have only paid $100 second hand for it, I would be devastated if I had to pay full price. I won't even want to Palm this off to someone else, it's prob going to go straight in the bin as soon as I can afford a Dyson!!!! After reading everyone else's comments Sounds like the people at godfreys are just trying to make money. Crappest vacuum ever!!!!! Don't recommend it!

BEST SUCTION OF ANY VACUUM – Love the great suction on this vacuum but like a lot of other people get fed up with the filter cap falling off the wheel and the hose connecting to the vac is now tapped on and this vacuum is only about 2 years old. It is heavy to maneover so I bought a Dyson DC54 at about $600 and my husband took the Wertheim to work to use there, but after a… Read more

few weeks I hated the Dyson as it doesnt pick up half the dust that the Wertheim does so I got my husband to bring the old one back. I had only vacuumed 2 days before with the Dyson but had a heavy bag of dust after just one session so that goes to show how good the Wertheim vacuum actually picks up the dust. As we are near to the beach, well 10 mins drive away when we first had the Wertheim I was getting sand out of the carpets for weeks it was brilliant the carpets looked like new. Its just a shame they havent quite got their act together with the machine as its by far the best at suction and I also used to have top of the range Meile and the Wertheim is so much better than that too for suction but not for the actual plastic parts of the machine. I dont think there is another machine out there that could compare to the suction of the Wertheim. BRILLIANT SUCTION HEAVY AND FILTER CAP FALLS OFF AND CENTRE OF BARREL FALLS OFF WHEN EMPTYING

WARNING DANGEROUS - HANDLE BURST INTO FLAMES – Do not buy this product, loads of issues and falling apart after 3 years and can't get parts, but most of all it's dangerous. The handle of mine just combusted into flames with no warning, it then started sizzling and firing sparks of fire and molten plastic everywhere. House could have gone up in smoke.

Caution. Don't buy this vacuum. It's not a value for money. Maintenance is quite expensive – Caution. Don't buy this vacuum. It's not a value for money. Maintenance is quite expensive. Now motor has burned. Maintenance cost is over 215 dollars. I bought it around 800. In this price you may get 2 good vacuum. I would suggest compare all vacuum specification and reviews. Service centre is not Sydney for maintenance. I should have checked reviews before buying this vacuum

Worst decision ever made. Plastic parts very brittle and break. Very expensive to replace. Wheel fil – This vacuum cleaner is a piece of junk. Not efficient. Filters need cleaning and replacing too often. The filter on the wheel blows off all the time. Spare parts are expensive. The vacuum was over priced. Do not buy – I paid $899 May 2011 so have persisted with the world's worst vacuum cleaner Do noy buy anyone. properly and like the other comments the filter comes out all the time. The cord retracts while trying to vacuum. All the plastic parts have broken and I have had to tape them together (looks horrible), The clip from the nozzle to the vacuum has broken because it was far to flimsy for this model. The power head cuts in and out all the time which is also bulky which makes it is very hard to move around. I have to fight with this vacuum to get the job done. The sad thing is I could have brought several cheaper ones for less problems. DON'T BUY!

If I can save one person from the same trouble I have done my job here. BE WARNED-DON'T BUY!

Can't Complain – I have had only 1 issue with my Wertheim x 3000, that is I lost the rubber seal in the canister, in which in return you loose suction. Maintenance nightmare – Went to Godfreys some years ago to buy a vacuum and like most others here was talked into a Wertheim X3000 at around the $900 mark. Phoned Godfreys for advice and was told there was only the one filter in… Read more

the wheel. Not satisfied with that I continued searching for the blockage and found the motor pre-filter behind the dust drum absolutely jammed with dust and hair. Cleaned these with warm soapy water and suction returned. Great! Not long after suction decreased again. Cleaned filters - no improvement. Decided to wash out the cyclonic centre of the dust drum. Could see heair and dust stuck inside but just couldn't get it out. Very hard to dry this part as it has so many cavities. A couple of days of air drying later it smelt like a rotting rubbish tip. The only course of action was to try and disassemble it and clean it properly. Extremely hard to disassemble but when I finally got it apart it was full of clumps of hair and dust snagged on rough plastic mouldings.

Finally got it all out with the help of compressed air and a bent wire hook! All good. Not long after had to wash and dry the filters again. Then had to strip the drum centre again. Then had to was the filters again.... Tonight I have had to purchase a new wand as the plastic at the top of the old wand has broken clean off and also one each of the filters for replacement. Approx $130 (AUD) in parts tonight and hours and hours of maintenance. Finally come to the following conclusions: Probably a cheap [censored word removed] vac from China with a Wertheim sticker. Plastics are brittle and unserviceable. poor design - it has taken many chunks out of the plaster corners in the house. Godfreys salesmen lie to get a sale. Will never ever own a bagless vac again after this dreadful machine. I have three women in the house with long hair and a long haired dog. This is not the machine for that scenario. Sucked hard initially but that doesnt last for long. Still sucks hard - for all the wrong reasons. Unbeleiveable amount of maintenance. Poor construction. Expensive parts

Waste of money – Though I havent as yet had issues with mine. I have found the same as everyone else as far as being clumpsy and heavy, clogging up, The salesperson in Godfreys Lower Hutt store misinformed me about the product firstly telling me it had a 5 year warranty using that to part me from the hoover model, and he told me you didn't need filters and you… Read more

can just wash it under the tap.... heaven forbid if I followed his instructions. As soon as I unpacked it and read the book discovered it only had a 2 year warranty not 5 yr as I was told and hello it has a hepa filter which costs more to replace than twelve months of bags on my old vacuum. I explained I had a back injury and he made out with his demo it was easy to use but thats not the case. Every time I have to actually open the canister I spend about 20 minutes trying to get it back together and I find just changing and unclicking the parts are very difficult for me. The cord sometimes doesn't want to retract. i would have been better off with the hoover i think. I did write to Godfreys on line to explain the incorrect information I had been provided about the vacuum but Godfreys didn't see fit to reply.

OK but recommend long warranty – I've been using this vacuum cleaner for just over 3 years now. It does vacuum really well and takes out heaps of dust/hair etc from carpets. It is however quite clunky (and heavy to manouevre - bumping into things - sometimes damaging if you are not careful) and often the filter falls out when dragging the machine around corners. I took a 3 year… Read more

warranty out with the cleaner as I am fed up with all vacuum cleaners breaking down and I have used it many times - the brushes on the brush head needed replacing, the plastic clip on the hose broke twice, the machine overheated and had to be serviced, the motorised brush head broke once and was completely replaced. Each time Godfreys fixed the problem at their own cost so, whilst it was annoying, I cant entirely complain. However, I am now out of warranty and the overheating issue has happened again. I am disappointed because I would be happy with this cleaner if it didnt always go wrong. My next cleaner will have a 5 year warranty on!! I wish I could find this quality of clean with a more reliable, lighter model as I wouldnt mind the price if it worked Cleans really well; Godfreys honoured all warranty issues; Heavy; quite expensive; always breaking down

Rubbish – 3 years ago we wanted to buy a bagless vacuum so went to Godfreys "the vacuum specialists". We were spoken into the Wertheim X3000 at $900. It worked okay for about a month then things started to go wrong, filter cover falling off all the time, clip holding the pipe in the unit broke, cord retraction failed and keeps retracting the cord, handle… Read more

where pipe joins the rod broke. With every failure Godfreys would not sell a spare part and say they will need to send the unit away at a cost of $50 plus parts. The vacuum works well only if the pre motor filter is cleaned after every use. (kind of defeats the reason for a bagless system). Strong suction if regularly maintained. Expensive to buy and even more expensive to own.

Initially impressed - not now though!! – We initially wanted to get a Dyson, but were talked out of it by Godfreys. Worked brilliantly . . . for a while. I wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing – Sadly, everything I have read that is "bad" about this vacuum is happening to us! $900 from Godfreys, who are supposed to be vacuum experts and we have nothing more than a glorified looking vacuum with my functionality issues/breakages. A Terrible Product and Service Experience – Purchased 4 years ago, initially impressed by the cleaning of the motorised head. Within six months things started to go wrong. It does need more regular maintenance - the head keeps getting clogged, the two filters need regular cleaning. The real disappointment is that the vacuum itself is "breaking" - the filter covers kept falling off,… Read more

the motorised-head latch seemes to have warn so it doesn't stand up anymore, and worse still it just drops dirt when you pick it up. Most recently, the dust catcher latch has broken and needs fixing. The latest quote from Godfreys is $250 to fix it. Nice idea - poor quality of manufacture. Looks good, when it works it's good - unfortunately that's not often anymore. Expensive to buy, expensive to own, poor quality of manufacture, what will go wrong next!, Poor attitude of after sales - pretty much wiped their hands of it

Fairly good performance vacuum cleaner – This vacuum cleaner works well. It has two settings, a really powerful suck (which makes more noise) and a quieter, less powerful setting. To really get carpets and rugs clean and get the pet fur off, the most powerful setting is the best. Actually, the only time we use the less powerful setting is for a light clean over floorboards to pick up… Read more

dust balls and crumbs (truth be told, a good old dustpan and broom can do that job too).

The power button is on the body of the machine. Switches to change between poweful/less powerful suck are located on the foot and on the top end of the handle. Wether you feel like using your foot or hand to flick the switch, the choice is yours.

It has a retractable cord. The handle/stick park can be stood up straight by clicking it into the foot/base. This is handier than having to try and find something to lean the handle/stick on or letting it fall on the floor while you go move furniture out of the way.

This machine is a bit on the heavy side to drag around. The head/foot part is huge but apparently can slide under some furniture for further reach. Only if the gap under the furniture is about 10cm/4 inches!

Due to its size, storing it is a bit of a problem. We had a nice little nook for our last vacuum but the Wertheim x3000 doesn't fit there.

This vacuum works, despite the small nuisances. It works better than a Dyson we were given for free a few years ago. It works Heavy to drag/pull around behind you

Worst Buy ever – The Wertheim 3000 cleans brilliantly, provided you clean it out including the filters, every time.
