Wertheim X5000

Agree definitely ripped off – Have replaced motor and now power head has gone . Would anyone in Toowoomba Region have a power head for x5000 model that works but do not need. Maybe I should just go and spend another $ 1000 plus on another brand and avoid Godfreys who gave us the same story as everyone else Show details
Don't buy Wertheim – Would have to be the worst vacuum for money and agree with everyone else a piece of junk. Only used couple times over the years vacuuming four rugs, overheats and motor stopped back to godfreys for replacement, always smells like it's overheating continually changing filters. Don't think you get value for money with this product. Won't go back to Godfreys, Wertheim died again today out to hardrubbish.
You don't get what you pay for with this Junk! – Have to agree with the consensus here in all respects. The machine was effective initially, but then became useless without constant maintenance. I have experienced all the complaints that other have raised - including the power head issue, filters needing cleaning after every use (if not during) and poor service from Godfreys. Take the advice - bypass Godfreys and Wertheim!

satisfied but i wouldnt spend $1000 on it – My husband purchased our vac with encouragement from my mother in law while i was on an overseas trip a few months before we married. If it were upto me or if i could have refunded it i would have and went with a dyson+ an automated vac for the same price. It sucks well although lately its making wierd noises. I use an attachment from godfreys… Read more · 1
which collects the dust etc.. before it goes into the bagless entrapment area so its not hard to clean either. But i honestly dont think it was worth the +$1000 he spent on it. the motor head! not so effective on tiles. always have dust remaining, only realise when i mop afterwards.
Good – Even with the couple of cons it is the best vacuum I've ever had and I've had alot!!,even over dyson, meille and electrolux twin clean this is by far the best!! My carpet has never looked so good and I have 2 dogs and 4 little kids!!! excellent suction my carpet looked like new after the first try!!! it is light and easy to use, looks cool… Read more
too. Can't believe how much dirt came out of my carpet and I vacuum every day!! really messy to empty for some reason, which it says its not!! and the full indicator is still on even after I've emptied it loads of times,so have to figure out what that's all about.
Excellent – This is amazing! I have long carpet (sort of like shagpile) 3 kids and 2 golden retreivers. i used to spend HOURS a week trying to vacuum up all the crumbs and dog hair from the carpet, and now it just takes one vacuum. the powerhead is amazing. i think that this is one of the best vacuums that i tested before i bought. it works well, it's easy to use and it CLEANS! the powerhead, omg this this is unbelievable!

Not good enough Wertheim – I know that this model is no longer available, so a review at this point is of limited value, but the advice we can give is avoid Wertheim and avoid Godfreys. A vacuum cleaner that costs just under $1000 should last many years. This was a verbal guarantee given to us by the sly salesman. Not true. We have changed the filters on our X5000… Read more
(at a unreasonably high expense) too many time too remember and as noted by others, the cleaning of the filters takes longer than the actual vacuuming. The X5000 now seems to have followed the crowd of reviews here and lost all power.
We attempted to contact Wertheim through their website and ask how a 3.5 year old vacuum can stop working and be considered to not have 'acceptable quality'. There has been no reply following our multiple attempts over the last few months.
The only way to get through to retailers of sub-standard equipment is to vote with your feet, we will never again purchase a Wertheim, or any other product from Godfreys and urge everyone to do the same. Looked like it was going to be a quality long-term vacuum cleaner
Frustrating machine, Never again – Wish I had never bought this machine. Have to empty after EVERY clean. We're a 3 bedroom, 2 living area house so not a mansion. Also forever having to empty and clean filters - again after almost ever use. Loses suction very quickly. After cleaning, fantastic, then 1 room done, BANG clean it out again. Takes me longer to clean the machine than it… Read more
does to clean my house. Fed up and can't wait for a new machine. nothing too small, clean it out too much, losses suction very quickly unless cleaned out all the time.
Wouldn't wish on worst enemy - – We've had an X5000 for 4.5 years. Under warranty we had 1x powerhead and 1x motor replaced. Out of warranty the motor has blown - just the other day! I love the cleaning ability of this vacuum - but what a hassle to achieve it! The X5000 requires loads of time-consuming de-clogging, indeed I have been using my Stihl petrol blower to de-clog it.… Read more
The petrol blower works great but my wife thinks I look ridiculous when I put on a dusk mask and safety glasses to clean our vacuum. Go to hell Godfreys - I will never step foot your stores again. Killer deep cleaning ability with powerhead Expensive, overengineered and time-consuming to keep de-clog

I will never be sucked in by Godfreys Staff again – Yes, a couple of years ago now, we were too talked out of a Dyson. Left with a Werthiem (my partner wanted to buy the best), it was good at first, and like all these comments, it has just gone downhill. I just have to put up with it, I'm just waiting for the day to come where it totally [censored word removed] itself, and my partner goes ape,… Read more
because we paid a lot of money for it. We can't afford to go paying big money all the time for [censored word removed] products that we can get better at Big W or the like for $50. Same with our Miele Washing Machine, total [censored word removed]. Thought it would last a long time and suck well Heavy, stopped sucking, doesn't wheel well.
Overall not impressed – We have a cleaner with a powerhead.Unfortunately the two pin connectors going down the handles keep breaking contact causing the power head to be intermittent.I would have thought that modern technology would have a better system. Constantly needing to clean out the filters to keep up good suction and prevent overheating. The agents Godfreys are a… Read more
wasted space should you require to have any repairs done. Powerhead good for pet fur Unreliable due to head connections and heavy to move
Caution Do not Buy!!! Do not trust Godfreys sales staff – We are a young family with a couple of pets. We thought lets spend the money on a vaccum so we can get a bit of life out of it and keep our house clean. At Godfreys we were talked in to buying the x5000 over the Dyson. At the time we were told Dyson would not put there vac's up against this product as it way out performs the Dyson range. We have… Read more
had it for just 3 years and the motor is now blown and will cost $249 to replace the motor. Lucky enough when the power head failed around 12 months ago we where still under warranty. Power head worked well when it worked Reliability,Price and sales staff
Extremely disappointing - Bad Buy – I had to argue with my husband to buy a good vacuum cleaner, thinking of the extended life of our carpets and health, and he finally gave in. Well, I haven't heard the end of it since then! Every time the vacuuming gets mentioned he brings it up again. The fact that we've only used it about 10 times in the three years we've had it, because it's… Read more
always broken. The motor has crapped out three times, it makes very scary popping noises and long before I paid it off I was looking for something that actually works! Never buying from Godfreys again, they really screwed me over with that one! Didn't impress me either when I read that they actually own Wertheim! That it had a motorised head and cleaned really deeply The fact that we got so little use out of an expensive machine!

Horrible and very disappointed – Bought this a couple years back and thought since we spent that much it will perform good. But a big ,big Disappointment! Suction is bad, filter needs to be cleaned all the time, machine is heavy and it finally died on me. Brought in many times for servicing and its still doesn't make any changes. It worse than those cheap brand less machine that… Read more

Should have bought the Dyson! – We bought our X5000 a couple of years ago. It is our third (& definitely last) Wertheim. We were talked out of a Dyson by a Godfreys salesman & walked out of the store with what was to be a $1000.00 piece of junk. I will never deal with Godfreys again & next time read some independent reviews before making a decision. The power head It feels like… Read more

What a let down! – When I first bought this machine I thought it was fantastic! Turns out it was too powerful for a bag less system. A year in and the thing completely lost its suction. No amount of servicing could fix the problem. It is a messy messy machine and even if you empty it all the time, it will still fail. Stay away!!
Very disappointing for the price of this machine – I have had nothing but problems with this machine from the day I started using it. The power button works intermittently and I actually have to pull the cord to make the machine turn on! The suction also varies from being quite good to very weak for no apparent reason, e.g. even when the canister has just been emptied. The filter cover at the rear… Read more
often flies off mid-cleaning for no apparent reason and the red light to indicate a full canister intermittently stays on even after the machine has just ben emptied. This vacuum cleaner is also very difficult to empty - every time I empty the canister I need to manually remove the dirt and end up surrounded in a cloud of dust. This machine has been so disppointing on all levels and I will never purchase another Wertheim product again as a result. The only positive about this machine is that, without the turbo head, it is quite light. Very expensive considering the number of issues with the machine. Very poor value for money.
I thought it was just me – The salesperson claimed that it was better than the Dyson and they compared the two as well right in front of me. What a waste of money. I bought the Dyson and used it upstairs, I used this Wertheim downstairs and every time I used it, I swore at those idiots at Godfrey and myself for believing them. Now I use the Dyson for the whole house and I… Read more
will never go to Godfrey again.
Expensive, lose suction, too heavy, tool does not click in properly, plastic hose broke.
Crap – Was only good once!!! Godfreys refused to refund or send back to provider, complete waste of time and money. Don't bother whatever you do, do not buy and waste your time with this expensive heavy piece of crap a $30 bagless vacuum works better then this!!!!! Heavy, noisy and spits out any particles it is meant to be sucking Everything, heavy, noisy does not suck at all spits dirt out the sides etc etc etc
Piece of rubbish! – At 1st it wizz through it all. And then one day it over heated and that was it! just moved dust around and the completely died! Godfreys wouldn't even take it back so we wrote our dissatisfaction with Wertheim themselves and they are sending us a X3000 model this week... lets see if this one lasts! Do not buy this heavy, noisy waste of a machine! Stylish Design The box for the cons isn't big enough

Good at first, quickly downhill from there – Waste of $1000. Should have stuck with my instinct and bought a Dyson, but got sucked in thinking that Godfreys really were the vacuum cleaner specialists. The ultra-slick sales spiel should have alerted me. head.
The terrible thing is how quickly the machine fills up, and you need to clean the filter every time the canister fills. The foam filter is coated with a good mm or more of dust after the canister has filled once. The HEPA filter at the rear occasionally gets blasted off by the force of the exhaust. The exhaust is very warm, which can't be a good sign in terms of how hard the motor is working.
There is a little red light advising when the canister/filter needs emptying, and when that light comes on you can hear and feel the dramatic loss of suction. Problem is, getting the light to go back off is very tedious. The most reliable strategy I have found is to use my air compressor to blow all the dust out of the foam filter and its micro-filter behind it.
I need to repeat this each time the canister fills. I am sick of it, and will now look for a new machine - using the power head tonight I am now on my third cleaning of the machine for one vaccuum - and that's just the upstairs of our house which measures maybe 8 squares.
Finally, emptying the canister is a nightmare. The salesmen shows how you just hold it over a bin and led the bottom lid flip open. What the salesman doesn't show you is that he does that with a very empty canister. The core of the canister is an hour-glass shape and lint gets heavily trapped around it, so flipping open the lid doesn't empty it. You need to pull it apart and pull all the lint out by hand, and end up in a cloud of dust with much of it on you.
Last Wertheim I ever buy. Last time I buy from Godfreys also. Powerful cleaning from the power-head. Powerful suction when it works. Filters need cleaning too often. Difficult to empty. No on board tool storage.

A real piece of crap! – Had this vacuum for approximately one year. 2 months ago, the head quit working, so I took it to Godfrey's for repairs. Took over 6 weeks to get it fixed. When I finally got it back home, I went to vacuum the whole house, as we've been without the vac for a while, and the piece of crap engine decides to blow up. It's a wonder the salesman tried so… Read more
hard to sell this piece of crap because I believe he knew it was. Needless to say, this particular vac has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Makes you wonder why!! Terrible – Returned to Godfreys 5 times. I am totally over it.Would never buy a vacuum from this store ever again.Staff could not care less about the inconvenience of it all.On the 5th time back to the store a loan vacuum was given.Got this home and they hadnt even included the right attachments to use it.When you spend $1000 you expect better.Very annoyed.… Read more
When the power head was working it was great. It worked for 2 weeks--maybe 3 vacuums. Power head not working.Didnt use it long enough to experience all the other problems that will probably develop... those problems mentioned in the other reviews.
Terrible – I would never ever buy this vacuum cleaner again. The manual is so poor. I've just found a different manual online and it is different. The pwer brush stopped working (i am using it for the 3rd time only). I am very very annoyed and do not recoomment this vacuum cleaner to anyone! Please do not waste your money! They just push these expensive models to you and the rest is not their business. the power brush cleans well, when it works It is very expensive, but the quality is not that great. Power brush broke doesn't work.
Terrible – Would not buy this vacuum.... Hated all things about it... Way too expensive and did not feel like it would last the test of time I really didn't like this vacuum cleaner..... 1. The Handles are too bul;ky which makes it difficult to get in tight spaces... 2. Really disgusting emptying the canister, really not a lover of bagless 3. The power lead is too short 4. No where to put on board tools
Bad – so uterley and completely dissapointed. power head worked fabulously on first day. hope it is just a failure in bagless technology at fault, a problem for Wertheim and Godfreys to work out, and not our me or our salesmen that are just doing a job.....Ive asked for a vac with a bag replacement, still a Wertheim, but of same value......can only hope!!!!!!!!! the first day home...wow! so much dirt sucked up. the power head just vibrated through the floor and was sooooo clean only got half a room cleaned before needing to empty, and never worked properly again. machine keeps loosing power and the power head dosen't vibrate through the floor anymoreneed to clean filters continuously, and in a big house you can't get through a room .....tooo much time spent on simple tasks
Terrible – This vaccuum has been a total waste of money. We've spent more time fiddling with it to keep it going then to actually use it to vaccum. Not once was it able to get through the whole house without needing some attention. We had a previous wertheim (bagged) for about 14years and loved it. We thought we would by the same brand again. It's just… Read more
not the same. The build quality has really deteriorated. Things seems to just fall or break off.
Yesterday the power head decided to stop working and we've had enough. We're taking it back and getting something else.
Seriously. Don't take the risk. It will be a headache forever. other review here seem to be consistant with what we have experienced. Wish we had read them before Godfreys forced this model upon us. We should have got another bagged model. The Power head really picks up dirt very well. But only when it's working This vaccum cleaner is very cheaply made. We've had it for 6 months and it's been nothing but trouble. The filter has to be cleaned after just about every room as otherwise the red light comes on and it will either stop sucking or it will overheat and cut out. When it cuts out due to heat it will take hours to reset.
Terrible – Would not buy at any price, A very frustrating machine I could have thrown it out the door. When you start a job with it you need to finish without any interruptions from machine overheating. Was good when working In 2 years only used machine about 12 times because of away at repairs. The machine would overheat before I finished vauuming… Read more

will be on the cards. Easy to use and when it works well it is very good. The venturies each have a cross in them which catch items and block make a a very expencive cleaner inefficient.
Bad – We have a young child crawling who picks up every bit of fluff and crumbs and I told the sales person this when we were looking for a cleaner. So was extremely disappointed to have to return this machine to store (and be without a vacuum each time)for things we should have been able to do at home (empty bagless chamber and hose) and returning… Read more
heavy bulky cleaner store to be blown out with an air compressor. Had to write to Head Office 3 times and was made to feel it was me and not the machine with these obvious design faults with Wertheim brands overall (see other reviews on this website). Relieved to finally get our money refunded. When the powerhead was working well it was great! (only did for about 1 month) Where do I start. Have had this machine for 6 months had to return it to the shop (Godfreys) 3x. 1st turbine got blocked and was unable to empty it fully had to take it to store to be blown out with an air compressor (appently recommended way of emptying on Godfreys website) 2nd hose got blocked again had to return to store to be unblocked 3rd plastic handle almost broke right off. Also really messy when emptying bagless chamber and has starched our skirting board. We paid $999 and I have never been so disappointed with a new purchase.
Excellent – I went from a bag model Wertheim to a Dyson back to X5000. Will use a powerhead for the rest of my life. Next time I will probably go back to bags though, although they cost a little bit they are definatly cleaner Pulled out heaps of dirt even after i had my carpets professionally cleaned. We use it every day and it hasnt missed a beat. Bagless machine seems to be messy to empty
Good – It is a great machine, powerful suction. Not fond of the bagless machine, too messy if a bagged option is available I would spend the money. powerful, extended handle, power brush is fantastic. Bagless
Good – Like it, it whizzes around behind you easily, cleans well etc. Hoovering is my worst chore, and I dont hate it quite as much with this!! Very different experience it seems to the other reviewers. great suction, REALLY cleans. Love the brush / dusting attachment. Got the option for the dust collector on the handle which makes emptying really… Read more
easy. definitely found that after the first marathon session cleaning the house there was less dust in the collection bit. Does get a bit clogged if a lot of hair gets in (long hair especially). Quite a lot of attachments to store and have ended up slinging them all in a bag and hanging it in the cupboard. The powerhead is a great theory but rarely use it in practice as bulky to clean under things.
Terrible – Disappointing. Promises a lot and performs well in the showroom but does not measure up in reality. Wish I had paid the extra and got the 6035 bagged model. Super powerful head. Most powerful I have used to date. Looks nice. Pain to clean. Clogs up easily. Seems to spend more time with red light on than off. Fills up in no time. Disappointing after sales service from Godfreys.
Excellent – Love to use it and hate to clean it! But same as any other bagles Making this machine my all time fav! took my New x5000 home 12months ago and i Have NEVER had nice carpets i only have a small amount of carpet in my home ( living area and 4 bedrooms,) but you can see the diffrents having the foot release to remove the power head makes life so easy… Read more
