Again, here we are at dinner time with candles and no power. From the state of some of the poles in our area, the fundamental problem is lack of investment in infrastructure. For god’s sake, spend some of the State surplus on upgrading the system.
Joke in your Town
Lived in Vic ACT NSW & WA. Western power would be the Biggest Joke I've ever seen. Run by overpaid Circus Clowns - this Circus must have the most power outages I've ever seen.
Where’s the power
Disgraceful pita full embarrassing that is all the good things I can say about western power everything else is bad power down keep changing the fix times website down clowns
Worst utility company
Western power is the worst utility company in the world, power outages occur frequently with extremely slow response to resume service, worse than a third world country but charge exorbitant rates.
Western Power sabotages agressively sustainable energy
This is the problem when you have a company with a monopoly position. I bought a Tesla battery to connect to my solar system for 13'000 $. Only after 2 months of waiting for approval from western power the truth came ou that:
1. Between 10 am and 3 pm, the Tesla battery is configured in WA so that it can only charge, but not discharge. So should you need energy in these hours out of a fully charged battery because it happens to be cloudy, the battery will not give it until 3 pm , you have to buy it from WP.
2. The Tesla charges the battery and ...
Horrible time waiting for fixing anything
Last year we are waiting more than 3 months to fixing streetlights to our area.
This year 17.05 I reported not working streetlight. After around two weeks I called to them. You are 3 in the queue (average waiting time is 5 minutes today) After 25 minutes someone answered and only thing it was they are busy and cannot fix it ealier. 02.06 I make complaint. I received email "we are sorry to hear you are not satisfied" Someone called next day and nothing happend for another almost 10 days. We still walking on dark every morning and every afternoon. Streetlight is close to walkway and we are not feel comfortable walking there in dark.
Western Power should be ashamed of their maners
We live on a rural property in WA. This morning, I was doing my usual routine, just about to let my dogs out and drop the kids off to school when I saw a white car in front of my house. Last week, at the same time, my neighbour's house was vandalised and all they know so far is that it was a white car... so I go see what is going on and I see a man doing something in my meter box which is located inside my property. I ask him what he was doing here. He said he was from Western power and he was upgrading my meter (my meter is only 2 years old). ...Furious that he got on my property without warning or even introducing himself, I kicked him out just the way he deserved.(One minute later, my dogs would have taken care of him). I called western power to explained them the situation. All they could say is that their contractors never make appointments as it is too hard for them and yes, they do come people's place, walk in and do their business as they please. That's normal. Mate, next time, I will let the dogs out and call the cops. You are really lucky it was only me, some people would have welcomed you with a 12 gauge. If Western power was a private business, they woul not last 6 months. If only they had any competition.
Very often doing some updates
Roughly every 2 month doing some updates and take them full day to be without power! Why synergy doing update so offten if we don't have problem with weather or Storm or any natural disasters. I been in australia for 25 years and in City maybe 3 time happened that we stay without power because of natural disasters but since we moved to rural and , Last 6 months living on property we been already 3 times without power! They can't find honest explanation and tell real reason because they keep monopoly in industry and they think they can do whatever they want!
So embarrassing and disappointed!
I will cut you off very soon and forever
One star is far too high a rating
Wanting to find out when my meter will be upgraded.
Call up and get a message "You are in the queue to speak to a Customer Services Reprsentative. The average wait time today is 4 minutes"
97 minutes later I was still waiting.
Smart metering - not really
When we had solar installed about 7 years ago, we needed to also pay for the meter to be replaced with a “Smart Meter”. Since then we have to open the box regularly to decipher the readings and submit them by website (21 numeric characters in three fields). The website takes two attempts to work on an iPad as the first time always gets hung by the absence of the “I am not a robot” gizmo. Then after re-entering the 21 characters, peering at the very poor, tiny imagery of the fuzzy squares looking cars or bridges, for the “I am not a robot” gi...zmo, I can complete the entry. Very tedious, slow and and frustrating. Yet I have consumer grade products like cameras, sound systems etc, bought for modest amounts, that readily connect real-time to my service providers for both provision of services and payments. This is not a smart meter, with the service element transferred to the customer.
Who plans a Suburb Outage on a weekend?
Parkwood 6148 - Congratulations you are the winner of a full Saturday planned outage. Saturday when the majority of family’s are home, compared to a weekday when they aren’t home. If it were emergency works I would understand, but it’s not, we received two text messages and emails across a week period that even stated ‘planned works’. So planned to cost us more by making it on a Saturday - with an average Saturday hourly rate of $140 per hr for a Western Power employee? Planned to inconvenience as many people as possible during an epidemic when...people can’t leave home to entertain them selves?? Nah it couldn’t have been planned on a week day, that would have made it cheaper for the consumer and been more convenient as more people would have been out of the house. Western Power Winners
LEFT IN THE DARK...
Our power has been off since 6pm on the 5th May. Came home from work to cold and darkness.
It came back on briefly for a 2 hour window around 11am the next day on the 6th May, only then to experience another outage for hours with no known estimated time to be repaired.
We are now heading into our second night of darkness as our power is still not on. With children and pets this is disappointing to experience. We can't shower or bath, make a coffee, cook dinner... Not to mention the fridge full of food that has to be thrown out in the rubbish now.
Sure we can put in a claim for $80. But that doesn't even cover the cost for all the food that we have to now throw out.
LEFT IN THE DARK... and the cold again!
Unfortunately ZERO Stars is not an option
First decent rain and a bit of wind for the autumn and sure enough half the state is with no power. Not acceptable even for third world countries so why do we have to put up with it ? After all they do charge a daily connection fee come rain or shine so why can't we have a service provided come rain or shine ?
All the issues were supposed to be solved once the entire network went underground but some Lib government decided that it would cost too much to protect everyone from power cuts during rain and storms . But they made sure Dalkeith, Como and other liberal stronghold seats don't have to put up with power cuts and had their network goldplated.
Great customer service fixed a major problem
Verge tree branches touching power lines, proved difficult for council, but one phone call this morning to Western Power and it was all fixed today. Couldn't be happier with the service.
7 months and still waiting
Moved into a home with the power meter behind a gate. No problem, I organised self reading via Western Power immediately. Wrong. 7 months and multiple phone calls and not one single return call, none of the promised SMS’s for self reading arrived, or the correct NMI number, and although my file is supposedly full of messages to get this going I’m still receiving bills with an estimated read only. Really pathetic.
(Staff are helpful but none have managed to actually sort this)
