Product was great but failed at year 5. It's our fault for not putting in the 5mm gap as shown in the installation instructions (thanks to Electrolux support for being responsive and pointing this out).

Being installed above an old electric oven, I was aware of the electronics in the WHI644BA likely getting too hot and I was waiting for this to fail. Replacement board about 185 AUD - not bad, happy they're available so this thing didn't have to go to the tip.

A resistive element stove will last 50 years because of its simplicity, so from a sustainability and resilience standpoint, I'm not sold on high-tech stovetops.

Component-level repair would be great (transformer T102 failed).

Regardless, good product, repairable product, and great support from Westinghouse/Electrolux.

@Jan - I updated my review after hearing from Electrolux. Short version of edit: our fault for not having a 5mm gap to let the hot air out.

Mine's still good after 5 years, I wouldn't have anything but an induction cooktop now. Precise, responsive, and a wide range of settings. Still looks like new.

Does the Wh1633bc induction hob need special power requirements

Mine didn't. The specs listed the max power requirement as exactly same as the specs for the cooktop it replaced. I'm not an electrician but anyone can check the specs by downloading them from the Westinghouse web site. And you can check your power box to see what amperage circuit breaker you have for your stove. You will need an electrician to hardwire it in, otherwise no warranty.

I have a Westinghouse induction cooktop which I think is WHI644BA. It was installed in 2015. I just noticed the back corner has a crack going across it only 1cm from the corner and some of the side came away when I wiped the counter. I have not dropped anything on it and I rarely use that part. What should I do? This is genuinely not misuse and it is my first glass top so I have been super careful.

Can not find electrical cable inside the WHI644BA pack.

So, need buy it separately?

Sorry. I cannot help. I left all that to the builder and electrician. I did not even open the boxes.

If you are installing this in Australia, it MUST be installed by a licensed electrician. Hence no cable. No electrician, then it will be an illegal installation and you will have no product warranty.
