 AI reviews summary

Wilco Home Services receives high praise for its professional, polite, and responsive plumbing services. Customers consistently highlight the team's expertise in handling emergency call-outs and complex pipe relining projects. While the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, a segment of users expressed concerns regarding high pricing and transparency during significant job expansions.

Pros
Exceptional Professionalism: Technicians are frequently described as polite, knowledgeable, and respectful, often noted for wearing boot covers or removing shoes to protect flooring.
Efficient Communication: The office and field staff provide clear scheduling updates, thorough explanations of technical issues, and detailed walkthroughs of available repair options.
Prompt Response Times: Same-day service and quick arrivals for emergencies (such as blocked drains or hot water failures) are a significant strength of the business.
High-Quality Workmanship: Repairs and installations, ranging from tap replacements to large-scale pipe relining, are completed to a high standard with diligent site cleanup.
Cons
Premium Pricing: Multiple reports indicate that service fees and quotes can be significantly higher than competitors, with some users describing the costs as "excessive" or "rich."
Upselling and Quote Inflation: There are recurring mentions of initial small jobs escalating into very expensive projects (e.g., pipe relining) after further investigation, leading to feelings of being compromised.
Scheduling Reliability: A few instances were noted where appointments were cancelled multiple times on the day of the booking without prior notification.
Deposit Disputes: A significant complaint involved the retention of a large deposit after a disagreement over the scope of work in a high-value quote.
Verdict

Wilco Home Services is a highly reliable choice for consumers seeking professional expertise and rapid response times, particularly for complex plumbing and drainage issues. However, because their pricing is at the premium end of the market, users should ensure they fully understand the scope of work and consider obtaining comparative quotes for large-scale projects.

We recently had a young plumber from Wilco Plumbing come out to clear some blocked drains, and he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain what he was doing throughout the job. What really impressed us was that he went above and beyond by cleaning up the bathroom afterwards, even though it… Read more

Excellent service from start to finish. He is a great representative of the company, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Wilco Plumbing to others.

DAY 2 - blockage still exits, job will need to be looked at again. Thought job was done and dusted. Brayden was prompt, efficient, good communication. Today is Saturday not sure if anyone will come to reassess... waiting. Brayden came out on a Saturday to put temporary fix and will have to return. system could be the issue, so after waiting another week to have that checked by the Plumber who installed all, it was found to be working correctly. 3rd times a charm - well not exactly. There appears to be another blockage somewhere, but the where is the issue. As storm water pipes are not on any plan we may have to dig up another part of our driveway to find the issue, so we are going to leave it there.

I worked with them, solving the relining of swage and storm water pipes from the time the house was built in 1930. The company has highly skilled individuals who work as a team and can scale the team accordingly, depending on the challenges and the type of work required for the day. They come with costly machinery, so there is a factor of cost… Read more

effectiveness in all they do. This was one of the most significant upgrades to my house that, unfortunately, is not noticeable at the surface level; they are just pipes, but I can say I have peace of mind now. Since this is not a cheap thing to do, there is careful treatment with clients to demonstrate the damage through videos and pictures, as well as the work done to renew them through relining after completing the job.

Nathan from Wilco was the first plumber out of three plumbers that I had out who was able to diagnose the problem and come up with a solution other than pulling our bath and floor and wall tiles out in our bathroom. Nathan was very clear with what the solution would be and the pricing etc. I am extremely happy and very grateful for his knowledge and workmanship he provided. I definitely would recommend Wilco plumbing.

In short, Wilco Home Services were quick to respond and generally acted in a professional manner. They seemed very knowledgeable and were able to solve the problem that we had in a timely manner. Generally the work carried out seemed to be good and… Read more

the staff, from office to site, were courteous and professional. So why only a 3 star rating? Firstly, I think that the work was done somewhat hurriedly, particularly when we had not asked this to happen, but mostly because, what we were being quoted firstly and then requoted because of the additional work involved, had no way of being verified by another company in the short timeframe that everything was happening and this is where my wife and I felt somewhat compromised. Yes, we were now looking at a job costing over two and a half times the original amount! To this day we don’t really know if we were taken for a ride, or indeed, the amount paid nears the mark in this day and age. That said, after some rain on the Easter weekend, the problem seems to have been fixed!

Please read the full story below, if you wish:

After receiving a fridge magnet in our letterbox and using this form of advertising to contact Wilco Plumbers and look at a problem that we were having with an overflowing downpipe, the company were quick to respond in sending out an investigative plumber, [Name Removed], who acted in a very professional manner and looked at our problem over a couple of hours, with pipe cameras and high pressure hoses, until he found a couple of potential solutions, which were then presented to us and quoted. We accepted the higher cost solution, even though it seemed expensive, as we were told it was the better long term option.

Within 48hrs, further investigation was commenced over several hours by two other workers from the company(sorry, I can’t remember their names), but unfortunately, what was originally quoted we were told, would no longer solve the problem. We were then presented with a new solution, but at a huge increase in cost! At this point I wanted to receive at least one other quote from another company, but it seemed as though the process had already gone too far(and we were told that we would need to pay for the investigative work already carried out that morning)and that we should continue using Wilco to complete the project! They explained the huge increase in cost was from the equipment that would need to be used to complete the work, as well as the increase in cost of materials in recent months etc.

My wife and I (rather stressfully I might add, with her only being contactable over the phone) accepted the new quote and work commenced that afternoon, with the guys removing turf from where the trench was to be dug - a trench laid with both plastic and galvanised pipe, that would now take a large part of our roof water, out into the street and no longer be contained to filter through and beneath the 100 year old concrete pit that was completely gummed up, with nowhere for the water to go, except back up to the down pipe. Problem solved!

The following day, a number of guys turned up with their equipment and everything was set up in a professional manner in order to create as little disturbance as possible to the surrounding area. An initial problem pumping out the existing sludge that was in the old soakwell was overcome, which set things back before they could insert a new plastic well. Unfortunately, at this stage, I had to go down to Sydney for the day and couldn’t see what was going on during the project. I was therefore most surprised to hear from the main worker, late in the afternoon whilst driving home, that the job had been completed!

On returning and observing, I felt that the work had been finished, maybe a little too quickly for my liking and noticed that the filled in and landscaped trench could have been finished in a better way, even though he commented that the fill in would settle in the next few weeks. After a follow up phone call from [Name Removed], they explained that fixing any landscaping details in the future, would be no problem. I also did notice afterwards, that our fence had been slightly damaged, as well as a pole supporting my weather station and the polystyrene sinkwell, also retained considerable cement workings from its insertion, which made me think that, yes, they definitely wanted to finish the job the day before Easter. I should note that the last three imperfections, I have not related to Wilco.

All in all, a costly experience in a very short time frame, but one that ultimately did fix the problem.

Follow-up  · The fence damage is slight but was probably caused by a bump from the large waste bin when it was being lowered near the fence. The landscaping has been attended by my local gardener and there has now been sufficient rain to lower the trench backfill to a suitable level. The weather station itself was not impacted but just the pipe that… Read more

Quick and responsive service, work was completed efficiently and to a high standard. The plumbing issue was resolved with no needd for a call back. Plumber arrived on time andd called ahead as promised. The transaction was easy with multiple payment methods available. Very satisfied.

Follow-up  · My plumbing issue was a leaking connection to my water meter - it was not a messy job, but the site was clean and tidy afterwards. As far as pricing is concerned, it was what I imaginedd it would be, so there wasn't a surprise.

After putting off calling a plumber for way too long I received a magnet in the mail. I rang the number and had a technician attend my home the next morning. Braydon was extremely knowledgeable and explained that my particular problem was a matter of elimination. My water pump was going off continually, with no obvious leaking taps etc and… Read more

there was an awful clunking sound every couple of minutes. Braydons advice was to start with the obvious and go from there. After inspecting my water pump he moved on to my tapware which was 35 years old, he checked the washers and showed me how worn and withered everything was. He suggested that I replace my tapware. He actually had the same style as I have in his van. I was very impressed. He changed as much as possible with the products that he had with him (this was Friday). He came back on Monday with Elliot another lovely knowledgeable young man. Between the two they have replaced all of my old and worn tapware and my awful problem of continually clunking pipes has stopped. I would highly recommend these 2 personable young plumbers. They have saved my sanity! Thank you boys and Wilco Home Services. Job well done!

Very professional, know their trade. Due to the cost of the pipe relining, they didn't just jump in and say it has to be done. They spent time clearing the roots and then assessing the condition. Every step was explained, shown the condition of the damage on the camera before advising me. I could see it was obvious that a reline was required.… Read more

Bugger, but if not, clearing the roots the damage pipe could collapse requiringlater digging up and replacing the pipe. No thanks. I found it very interesting seeing how the team relined the pipe, the guys were very good and showed me how it worked. When I was given the invoice on completion it turned out to be more than the quote. After the wife played the invoice she pointed out is was over a $1000 more than the quote. I took this up with the chap before he left, he contacted the office, sorted it there and then. I received a refund a couple of days later no hassles or worries. If you need plumbing give them a call. Nothing is perfect in this world but this company is as close as you can possibly get.

I don't know how their fees compared to other companies, I suspect they would all be around the same price. Nor do I know if other companies are as good. But at least you can have confidence in a professional, easy to work with team and company that do an excellent job.

Good experience – Contacted Wilco from their letterbox dropped. Arranged for an appointment for a quote 2 weeks ahead and attended to the repair 2 weeks later. Great experience with the arrangement as others would say, "call closer to the date" or "fully booked out". My appointment was to suit my personal reason. At time of quote, 2nd options was not provided… Read more

and I accepted the quote for the actual repair. Janda showed up with his off-sider on the day of repair, and I requested to arrive 10 min later, there was no issue with Janda and in fact Janda texted to advise his arrival time and in between few text messages between him and me, and promptly replied.

Janda listened to my situation and provided a 2nd option for the repair to suit my situation and I accepted, plumbing issue fixed between 10 - 15 minutes, though I still have to pay for the original cost quoted which may take around 2 - 3 hours.

I took the matter up with the office the same day and request for a consideration to justify the cost from a 2-3 hours job to a repair and a 2nd option which took between 10 - 15 minutes. I was surprised to get a return call towards the end of a business day (same day) from Zeina and an offer to adjust the original cost. I requested if further consideration can be given as I felt it is still costly for a 10 - 15 minutes job. I do realise it is not just the time period to do the repair, I did consider the travel time as well to get to my place. I asked Zeina if she can the matter further with her superior, and Zeina kindly replied she will take the matter up with her superior.

Promptly at 9.30am the next day, Zeina called and offer a further deduction. I have had bad experience with customer service numerous times, with Zeina is different. She listens and was helpful. Thank you Zeina .. !

At the end the day, I am happy with the repair issue fixed, my request to justify the cost fixed, punctual with the appointed time, flexible when I requested to delay arrival by 10 min, and WILL show up when message is received from me (at time of quote, 1st appointment). The flexibility and understanding extended is not usual. Lastly, Janda and his off sider did not wear their work boot when entering and leaving the property. Both carried their work boots in their hands, same with the 1st appointment. This experience is again not usual and I appreciate it that they did not walked in with their work boots.

All in all my experience with Wilco has been smooth sailing, no qualms at all. I was disheartened having to pay the original quote which did not justify the 2nd repair option, but this has been justified.

My consideration was there was no call out fee, call out can be waived from others if repair goes ahead, otherwise the call out fee is not refunded, the travelling time and time to repair though took 10 - 15 minutes, I did not experience any frustration in my dealing with Wilco.
