Died after two years

published

This robot pool cleaner was good whilst it lasted, but 2 months after the warranty ran out, it stopped working.
For a device that cost $1300 when new, this is woeful. Not recommended due to bad build quality.
My experience with Pool and Spa Warehouse trying to get them to care was similarly sad.
Pool and Spa Warehouse where the unit was purchased, refused to provide any help.
I went to the manufacturer - Fluidra they were also unhelpful and didn't answer emails for two weeks.
I have now bought another robot from a different brand and a different shop.

Purchased in at Pool and Spa Warehouse Online store for $1,311.

A magic cleaner makes my life so much easier.

published

Purchased this cleaner due to a disability which stops me from lifting heavy loads. It is highly efficient and picks up the leaves and bark that accumulates in the pool with ease. I was very impressed with the way it dealt with the fine dust blown in from the west. I normally put it in in the morning early, occasionally in the evening after dark. As it is completely silent my neighbours never hear a thing.

Purchased in at Pool and Spa Warehouse for $1,326.

Zodiac CX35

Dirt leaves seeds sticks. General small rubbish.
The pool cleaner storage stand is great for using then storing away. The control centre is also very easy to use. Great unit for much less than other similar products

Purchased in at Pool and Spa Warehouse for $1,500.

Very poor product.

published

Very poor quality, would not recommend or buy again. Three motors replaced, one under warranty. Poor service and no longer done by Zodiac due I suspect to the product quality. Cable tends to tangle easily as it does not have a swivel.

Purchased in for $1,149.

Warranty fail.

published

Worked well until recently. It is now 4 months out of warranty (2 years) and has stopped working. Zodiac dealer advises that I can expect to pay $900 for repairs. I paid $1399 for it. A very disappointing warranty period for such an expensive device.
I won't be buying a Zodiac again.

Purchased in for $1,399.

Zodiac - Major Flaw In Design

published

The robotic pool cleaner CX35 from Zodiac performed the job reasonably well removing leaves, pollen and dirt. After a year, the cable twisting got worse despite straightening as per manual the cable twisting could cause a loose connection between the control box and cleaner. The pool cleaner cannot start or if it starts, it will rover for 5 minutes or 15 minutes then dies....attempts to restarts occasionally works but lately, it does not respond at all.

As warranty has just expired, I am contacting Zodiac to seek assistance as the repair cost will be expensive then buying another unit is more sensible...won't be Zodiac

Purchased for $1,200.

Top Job

Dirt/dust, leaves, grit, and other grime that can end up in the pool, including small objects the grandchildren have left in the pool.
I only use the pool cleaner when everyone has finished swimming, so that they and the cleaner are not impeded.

CX 35 stopped moving

published

My zodiac CX35 stopped moving and I discovered the problem was the brush roller had broken off a drive lug. In fact both brush rollers had broken off the drive lugs that allow the rollers to be driven by the motor. One must of broken a while back as I noticed the unit wasn’t cleaning as well as in the past. I’ve attached a couple of photos to show the issue. If your CX35 or CX20 is just sitting in one place and not moving this could be your problem as well. Hope info helps someone else out.

Disappointed

published

Absolutely disappointed. Had for 9 months and motor died. Sent away and got fixed. Six months later replacement died. Now one month out of warranty and guess what? It has died again. When it was working it was very good. So unfortunate that I seemed to have got a lemon.

Purchased in for $1,499.

Questions & Answers

George S.
George S.asked

For a cleaner that costs over $1400 a 2 year warranty is appalling. I had mine for 3 1/2 years and used maybe 10 times per month in the summer months and yesterday it stops working. The technical support team is clueless, got together with an electrical engineer buddy who tested everything advised to replace by tech support ie. replace control unit $450 or cable $200. Both turned out to be OK the real culprit was the 2 motors had corroded because the box that these 2 motors are housed in had water in it. Seriously when I pulled this apart the lit is held down by about a dozen screws and there is no rubber between housing and lid to ensure it is water tight. Very shoddy workmanship, don't waste your money on this.

Hi, we purchased a Zodiac CX35 in Nov 2021. My question is should the machine climb to the water line in a fibreglass pool which has a moulded safety ledge all the way round as per standards when purchasing a new pool

Features

  • The Zodiac CX35 collects debris and leaves, and prevents the build-up of algae and bacteria, without using chemicals.
  • The 200-micron filter canister captures small, medium and large debris, including leaves and gumnuts. If your pool attracts extra-fine dust, there is a 100-micron filter canister available, which comes at an extra cost of $50.
  • Suitable to be used on a variety of pool surfaces, including concrete, pebblecrete, quartzon, fibreglass, glass beads and vinyl lined. There are also 2 different models available, for tiled and non-tiled pools.
  • Equipped with 2 cleaning cycles - floor only, or floor, walls and waterline, and 6 cleaning programs, including a quick floor cleaning program.
  • An extra-long 18-metre cord allows the Zodiac CX35 to be used in large pools.
  • A timer adjustment function allows you to increase the cleaning time of a particular program by 30 minutes.
  • You can adjust the grip intensity of your pool cleaner, to ensure proper grip while it’s climbing up walls.
  • To empty the contents that the robotic pool cleaner has collected, push a button at the top of the cleaner to release the filter canister and empty and hose down the debris.
  • An indicator light on the e-box shows you when the filter canister is full and needs emptying.
  • Comes with an ergonomically friendly caddy, which lets you easily move and pack away the pool cleaner, e-box and cable.

Points of praise

  • The quiet operation of this pool cleaner was appreciated by swimmers. One reviewer even shared that he was able to have a swim in the pool while the handy robot pool cleaner was doing its job.
  • The Zodiac CX35 was reported to scrub all parts of the pool efficiently including the walls and shallow steps. It required minimal intervention, making it easy to use.
  • Water looks clean and clear after the pool cleaner effectively removes everything as small as fine dust, to small and large debris like leaves and bark.
