Refused refund for 55 days until ordered by the Magistrates' Court I purchased a NAS unit that suffered a Major Failure. Despite the manufacturer (QNAP) condemning the unit and providing logs of the failure on Oct 8, CPL refused to provide a lawful refund under the Australian Consumer Law for nearly two months. I was forced to initiate legal… Read more
proceedings in the Magistrates' Court of Victoria (Ref: MAG-CI-250248744). On April 2, the Court ruled in my favour, ordering CPL to pay the full refund plus my court costs and shipping ($521.50). Even then, CPL missed the court-ordered deadline to pay, only transferring the funds after I issued a final notice of enforcement via the Sheriff.
If you have a faulty product here, be prepared to go to court to get your money back. Know your ACL rights.
Cheap but misleading advertising (STOCK isn't REAL) and service pretty bad 1. They advertise stuff they don't have (which will result in an ACCC complaint if this continues). Example: I wanted to order a drive enclosure and emailed them about it and the response was "[The product] is end of life. No more in the distribution chain". Yet dozens of… Read more
others online have the same product available. 2. They tell me a product is in stock but then somenoe else contradicts that: "[The drive] is in stock at [Branch]". I write back to confirm, given their unreliabilitiy. Next guy says: "[The drive] needs to be ordered from our supplier. So not ready to pick up". WHAT? I was going to go this arvo to pick up! Is it there or NOT?! 3. They advertise something with two variants but you can't order the variant you want. I assume you just get what you're given?
Stay clear of this store. I could not believe their customer service & their little respect of knowledge relating to the ACCC. I purchased the 15.6" Pexar Starlight Frame from this store on the 23/01/26 for $429! Only 5 weeks later the digital photo frame stopped working completely. I followed the websites troubleshooting scenarios with no luck,… Read more
hence I requested a refund & not a warranty repair. The assistant at the store confirmed my frame was dead too. I was told that this is not possible & I need to follow the warranty process. They also confirmed they had no money onsite to preform a refund or credit card refund! I asked to speak with a manager as the ACCC site confirms I can request a refund in this scenario. The assistant called the manager at another site & she refused to speak to me. I was advised to leave the store as there is nothing else that can be done & Warranty process can take up to 8 weeks. I then called the manager/store & requested to speak to the manager. Again I was given the company policy with no refund available & when requested to speak to Mabel, the manager, she refused to speak to me again!! I don’t know what to do or where to go as they have my faulty frame & only offer to repair with an 8 week wait!!

CPL Notting Hill very quick turn around , excellent service – I've had dealings with CPL Notting Hill for many years buying components for myself and old clients as i use to run a computer business and still get called upon to help out some old clients , always a simple and efficient process at CPL they are friendly and always willing to help. I was shopping around for a new laptop earlier in the week… Read more
comparing prices, CPL didn't have the model i was looking for listed , but I reached out to CPL via email to see if they could source the laptop at a competitive price they responded with in a few hours with a price $200 cheaper then any other online price , I agreed to the price , paid the invoice and they called emailed me the next day saying it was ready to pickup , very impressed with the turnaround time and simplicity of the process , i expected it would take a few days but they sourced and supplied the product very quickly , Thanks CPL
One of the worst after-selling customer services – Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews prior to buy an item at this shop. I bought a modem listed on their website, but the model shown on the link did not match the was that was being actually displayed. Unlucky me I did not realized of this but just after two hours that I bought it the technician did. I rapidly wrote to customer services to… Read more
work out on how to change the product for the right model (not even getting the money back). [name removed], after a long waiting period just gave me a big "Not our problem, sort it out yourself, the product is working". Literally, the product is just as it came, the box is in perfect shape and everything is untouched. I tried to reply again to find the right after-selling service customer experience and told them that I was even willing to pay a fee in order the get the right product, just because I did not want a product that I would never use. Once again [name removed] answer "our answer to this request is still the same. We supplied the correct product and are not obliged to accept returns". Sadly, I will have to find my own solution for this trouble and definitely learn my lesson to look that the product the are offering is actually the one displayed on the website. But, unfortunately these are the kind of situation where companies "prioritize policy above the customer needs" and make everything possible to make you feel guilty and have the worse customer experience. Definitely, I will never waste my money here again and I strongly advice you not to.

There are a few PC-tech retailers in Australia that offer unconditionally free postage with $250+ spending. I'd definitely buy more products more often if CPL offered free postage for $100+, which I'm sure would lead to greater revenue in the long run. Another big plus by my standards is user experience when browsing & comparing products on the… Read more
site. CPL's site can be improved. I love not needing to click thanks to the automatic categorical expansions when I hover my mouse over. It helps me get to the specific item page efficiently. However, CPL's site requires consumers to click a lot to get to an item page of interest (e.g. count how many clicks from home page to seeing all available EXPO 2x16Gb DDR5 RAM).
Aspects that I'd appreciate upgrades on: - general component pricing (not always competitive compared to Scorptec, Umart, & BPC for example) - ability to expand all dropdown categories with a mouse hover - cart management (updating quantity of items can be done with - & + buttons)
Cheers for the overall positive experience CPL, keep up the good stuff!
Terrible warranty claim support – Initial purchase and shipping was fine. 2 years later, the CoolerMaster power supply I purchased from that order failed. I contacted CPL and requested warranty claim instructions. I sent the item to the Notting Hill store. I received no confirmation of arrival or the commencement of any internal processes. I called them two weeks later - They… Read more
asked me which store I sent the item to - They asked me for the claim number that they never gave me - after them making calls and stuffing around they confirmed that the item was received and already sent to the distributer who had the means to test the item. 3 weeks later, again I had heard nothing, so I called them - I had to answer all the questions again and they fumbled through where the item is all over again to arrive at the conclusion that it was still with the distributer and they knew nothing else. 4 weeks later, I call again - This time it's confirmed faulty but the case is with CoolerMaster to decide if they will issue a refund or offer a replacement for the model number that has now been superceded. I ask for a claim reference number. 3 weeks later, I chase again and provide the claim number but it's not in the system of the Notting Hill store so he has to enquire elsewhere to locate it - This time I am told the claim has been approved for replacement and I'm asked if I'm happy to receive an item of equal specification. Why was I not contacted once this claim was approved? It felt like at every step of the process they were hoping I'd just tire of the whole thing and give up and go away so they didn't have to replace the item. I feel that too many companies try their luck at ignoring Australian Consumer regulations because not enough people stand up to this sort of behaviour. If they didn't inform me of the approved claim today I was most certainly going to report them or threaten them with a formal complaint. We are all too lazy to fight this [Content Removed] and so these businesses survive far longer than they should.
Good PC parts store (West Melbourne) – This is a review based on experience with the store in North Melbourne (or West Melbourne on the CPL website). From memory Ive bought at least the following across a period of time: - AIO cooler - 13th Gen CPU - M.2 SSDs - HDD brackets - Fans Q: "How easy was it to navigate the store and find what you wanted?": A: Easy. The online store is easy… Read more
to navigate as an enthusiast. The store is a warehouse with a small shop area with a variety-albeit limited-number of products in glass cases.
Q: "How satisfied were you with the range of products available?" A: Very satisfied. Product variety seems to be on par with other similar stores.
Q: "How satisfied were you with the quality of product(s) you bought?" A: All products worked as advertised and expected.
Additional information below:
Pros: - Good stock with similar pricing to other enthusiast PC stores - Customer facing staff are knowledgeable about the products and can assist. - Free screws and standoffs in a box at the front. Seriously, every PC store needs this. - Website is good with appropriate filters and information such as stock availability at different warehouses - No issues with any products Ive bought here.
Cons: - This outlet is best suited for enthusiasts who already have an idea of what to get. There aren't too many products on the shelf - Website pricing for some items changes day to day, sort of like a market rate. Not sure if this happens at other stores as well but its a bit strange.

I searched everywhere online for an item that was out of stock at every retailer. Most sites still listed it but showed zero availability. Persistence paid off I found one in stock at CPL. Reviews for them weren’t great and the AI check flagged a higher than average number of negative ones, but the item was only $45, so I ordered it with express… Read more
delivery anyway, paying a little extra for express post. Ordered late Monday night, shipped midday Tuesday, delivered interstate before midday Wednesday properly packaged . That’s faster than I get from Amazon these days. Very happy with the result. The only minor negatives: my account still shows “in progress” and I never got a shipping confirmation email with tracking. No big deal I can live with that.
On the 6th of the May I purchased a monitor, MSI meg321urx oled, through static ice for $1799 delivered to Queensland from this band of crooks only for them to refund me the money on the 9th. Although static ice listed them as having stock I assumed they must have run out which would explain my cancelled order. On the 13th I checked static ice for… Read more
the same monitor only to find the same model now listed by cpl for $1949 undelivered. I was surprised then after reading their reviews I wasn’t. I rang them and the girl, after much back and forth, tried to tell me the price was wrongly listed. I replied, not my problem, it isn’t. The end result is for the princely sum of $300 cpl have lost my business and everyone I know as well. Honour you advertised price. Pretty fundamental to good business I would have thought. If the system allowed for zero stars that’s where I’d rate them.
Slow as a wet week. MSY will beat them every time. Won't use again – Slowest dispatch of a popular part. My money was taken super fast, but all day to not even ship the part. Apparently not in stock?? Regret I used them instead of MSY. Show details
Yet another terrible computer parts supplier – Are we growing weary of this pattern? Yet another computer store on the brink of bankruptcy lacking an actual customer service team? All I seek is a straightforward explanation regarding the financial, logistical, and environmental benefits of shipping parts from a Sydney-based supplier to Melbourne and then back to Sydney, particularly for a 25kg… Read more
Cooler Master gaming chair. It's perplexing that they can't simply ship the chair directly from the supplier to the customer, just a few suburbs away. As someone who works in IT retail as a warranty manager, I comprehend the simplicity of such arrangements. The absence of an immediate support team, coupled with the indifferent and discourteous demeanor of the store staff, is disheartening. It leaves me apprehensive about the quality of after-sales support should issues arise in the future. These initial interactions paint a troubling picture of their disregard for customer inconvenience.
It's past the promised delivery date since I made the purchase, yet I haven't received any updates on the status of my delivery. Despite paying in full almost two weeks ago, the website still shows "Payment Received - In Processing." Judging from other reviews, it seems that CPL has a history of misleading customers about stock availability within 3-7 business days. This situation appears to be another example of that. After I made my purchase the website listed the item as "preorder"

Noting hill branch- liars – Keychron K3v2 was advertised online for $109. I went into the store to check that they had stock with the supplier as it required a pre-order. Confirmed the supplier had stock. After I paid $109 they claimed that it’s not available because they actually were trying to sell it for $119. My advice don’t do business with them. Lack of business ethics. Show details

Do Not shop at CPL - especially if you think you may have a change of mind or product could be faulty – Website claims they do honour change of mind case by case - but in reality they will find any excuse not to. In my case it was picked by myself at their Notting Hill branch and the mistake I made was accepting an item with a torn & crushed packaging. This was later used against me to disallow change of mind. If you are still really desperate to… Read more
shop at CPL NEVER accept any packaging or item damage before either leaving the store or accepting delivery. Good luck, you're going to need it with CPL
Be careful these guys aren't good if you have a problem with your product arriving DOA – I purchased a monitor from these clowns and it arrived DOA broken screen now they are refusing to pay freight back to them and replace the item. Warranty not honoured – My son purchased a twin pack of DDR RAM and one was DOA - confirmed by two independent IT professionals prior to returning it for either a replacement or refund. The "technician" at CPL claims to have tested it and found it not to be faulty (this was not demonstrated to me in the store, however - I was just expected to take his word for it),… Read more
therefore no replacement or refund was offered.
My son tried the RAM again in his PC with the same result - one works fine and the other doesn't. One of his friends had the exact same issue, and experienced the same non-service from CPL. It's a lot of money for a 14-year-old to lose, and doesn't give him much hope for future purchases from stores such as this.
I'll stick with Amazon in future - they may be a little more expensive, but at least they will admit when a product is genuinely faulty and their returns process is a breeze.
scammed – I've been robbed and scammed. I'm a disability pensioner I've saved $10 a week to buy a printer for six months. For my very sick Daughter with terminal cancer so she can draw and print her pictures for the little time she has left. CPL Computer & Parts Land. Notting hill branch. I have no printer and no refund. CPL company is the lowest form of life and scum. Scamming disabled people disgusting. Show details
Fraudulent & Dishonest Operators – - CPL provided a faulty monitor with no display capability (but no surface damage). - Their courier picked up the monitor from me, provided CPL a report indicating there was no physical damage to the monitor (in both a report and photographs). - CPL then offered a replacement or refund. When no replacement was (allegedly) able to be sourced, I… Read more
requested a refund. - 6 weeks later, when chasing the refund, CPL claimed it was an Admin issue their end. - 2 weeks later, CPL claimed the courier was challenging the refund and I needed to provide the courier proof that I hadn't damaged it (even when the courier had provided proof they'd received undamaged goods) - CPL refused to show proof of physical damage, and behind the scenes were working to blame the courier (which was disclosed to me by both the courier and FreightSafe - a courier disputes/claims intermediary). - CPL then tried to keep over $900 payment, refusing to provide goods or refunds.
The email exchanges between CPL show a litany of contradictions (some may call them lies), and really poor business practices which are fraudulent and not in step with good customer service.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
The few bucks you may think you're saving could turn out to be a lot more in terms of time and resource, as they're renowned for exceptionally poor customer service (when they're not trying to plain rip off consumers) and simply a company which cannot be trusted.
Suspicious Service – I have ordered a RTX 3060 Ti from there and I suspect that it is not brand new as advertised to be. The box has strange markings along its surface and the insides have been ruffled with a misaligned seal on the package. I honestly hope not but there's a chance it's been opened before or even worse, a resell.
Always have what they say they have – Started buying through CPL 6-12months ago. Found them to physically have the stock of what they say they have each time I buy. Orders have been shipped promptly. Show details

Don't honour their $10 voucher offer – After spending over $1200 on goods from CPL, I qualified $40 in discount vouchers which I didn't receive. When I enquired, they never got back to me. I'll shop elsewhere in the future.
Falsely had item listed as in stock, took me contacting Consumer Affairs to get a resolution. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! – Broke my glass panel, searched high and low and these guys were the only people in Australia that had it listed IN STOCK. I immediately purchased and paid for express shipping (funnily enough with the customer note thanking them for having it in stock.) Received an email saying it wasn't in stock and that the ETA was "next week." I could live with… Read more
that so I waited, 10 days later no updates, so I contacted them asking if they could send out an entire new case if I paid the difference, because they were listed in stock, was denied. Was then told I was wrong and that the item was listed as not in stock a week before I even ordered? I was checking for days after I ordered and it was listed as in stock up until AT LEAST 2 days after I paid. Long story short, contacted consumer affairs and was told they had broken Section 36 and Section 62 of Consumer Law, I then contacted them again with that news and surprise surprise, was questioned about the authenticity of said claim. Happy to refund, but not happy to apologize because they "have not done anything wrong."
Genuinely surprised this business still operates with all the negative reviews and official complaints that have been made according to google reviews for each store etc. After looking at those reviews, no wonder I had never heard of them, AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
CPL back to being consumer bullies – Simply do not honour warranty and carry the worst quality products Latest incident was today when they refused to repair, refund or replace my device simply because I was unable to attend the office earlier, but I was still within the warranty period! (I had ordered orico but they instead supplied me with the cheaper product) As a veteran in… Read more
IT and with extensive electronics design skill I was disgusted at how the sales team declared the equipment not under warranty due to a product quality issue. Product quality is a warranty issue especial when the price is fair for the functionality. Will be reporting this to consumer affairs next.
I had stopped dealing with them previously because I had a high end brand new super expensive router fail DOA, took it back and they kept it in their repair room for something like 4 months each time I called they said it was being repaired, when I went back into the store I could see it in the repair centre not touched and demanded a refund given they didn't bother to even send it to the repairer they offered me a little over half the price I had paid as they claim it had devalued sitting on their shelf! I thought things had changed when they lost most of their business and the store is now empty when I go there, but looks like its empty for a good reason.
Around the same time I brought in a high cost flash drive for repair, when it was given back it had personal files from another customer (and was simply another customers drive not new or repaired) The breach of privacy was of no concern to them.
Consumer bullies. I need to remember not to buy from them again, hence the review. to remind myself just because the store has a face lift the people running the show are still the same.
Best price and value computer parts store in Melbourne - without exception – I am only writing this after reading all the negative comments here - wow! Ok, first of all - let's be clear about what CPL is and is not. It is NOT a store you come into and expect a smarmy salesperson to hold your hand while you decide what you want to buy. everybody. I have used CPL for all of my computer part purchases for over 10 years (well, since they started) without a single issue. They have always been courteous and professional and I couldn't fault their operation. Granted it is quite an experience to attend any of there stores ...and to be honest, they do remind me of the Soup Nazi store in Seinfeld. Lol. Do your research, know what you want before you get there and you will not be dissapointed. Good job CPL.
Don't bother with this company – If you successfully purchased an item by ZIP, got the email to collect and the item in-stock, they won't still release the item until they got the money from ZIP. Charged "cancellation fee" where item was in stock, when you didn't even collect the item yet and during the purchased process there was no indication to me that there will be a "Cancellation fee" should you cancelled your purchased. Terrible experience. Dishonest – Disgusting customer service. They told me o could exchange them I came in they opened the boxes then told me I couldn’t cos they had been opened. bring the monitor back to store, the person works in the store refused to admit the product was broken before they sold to us and told me I could check the product on spot but I don't know if anybody today will bring a scissor or screw driver with them to unpack the package when buying a electrical appliance.
The store asked me to fill in a parts warranty appliance form and told me to wait at least one week to get any feedback from LG.
My suggestion is if you need to buy a monitor from CPL, bring sth. can open the package box with you to check it on spot; alternatively, just don't buy a monitor from them.

Deceptive and unprofessional – Selling items they do not have in stock and then taking a long time on a refund after lying that it had been done already. then to add insult to injury it takes another 5 days via the bank. For a $3300 Rtx3090.
