We took out an annual multi-trip travel insurance policy with Cover More through Flight Centre in March 2017. We had to cancel a November trip to Norfolk Island as I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a heart issue, which required implantation of a pacemaker in October 2017. Formal notice of cancellation of the trip was provided in advance of the date of travel and the completed insurance claim form submitted through our Flight Centre travel agent in mid-November 2017. As we had heard nothing from Cover More by mid-April 2018 further investigation showed that a Flight Centre staff member had made a mistake and our claim has not in fact been submitted.

Expensive, doesnt work

I have used covermore insurance and their sim cards. We had made a claim after and were paid a fraction of the replacement costs.

The sim card is a ripoff and a pain in the butt to use. The support for the sim card is not great, they aren't very helpful. The sim card doesn't work half the time when you need it.

Won't cover you for Skiing or Snowboarding Accidents

Poor communication and feedback. Be advised if you think you will be covered for any losses due to snow sports accidents. They will not cover these accidents. Maybe okay for some other issues but i wont use them again.

Great and very speedy Service

While I was on a cruise in the South Pacific during February/March 2018 I fell ill with Bell's Palsy and had visited the ship's doctor for treatment. Once we returned home, we made a claim for the expenses incurred for medical treatment on the ship. The Claims Officer (Lucas) at Cover-More Travel Insurance was friendly and very efficient. The claim was handled by Lucas with a minimum of hassles. The payout was made (as promised) within a few days.
We will certainly use Cover-More again!

fabulous service

My son in law was critically ill in England. Insurance flew him home with doctor and nurse. Everyone especially Emma were fantastic, rang all the time to see if I was OK as all family members had gone overseas.
They were so calming and kept me informed off the situation. I would recommend them to anybody.

Don’t ever use Covermore insurance!!

Don’t ever take out insurance with Covermore!! I just have been denied my claim through wording of their policy. I had a delay with my first flight so missed my second but Covermore does not cover travel delays!! Then What the hell do you cover?? That is why you get travel insurance!! Never again and I’m telling everyone who will listen! This is not good enough even my travel agent said I was covered if there was a delay caused by Qantas!! Very clever wording and you have not heard the last of me!!

Would like to recommend Cover-more insurance. Whilst holidaying in December 2017 I had a fall, breaking my wrist.
This accident required surgery. Cover-more were amazing in attending to my needs and arranged transport,and hospital treatment for myself and accommodation for my husband. Whilst keeping in touch with me to ensure my needs were being met.
Thank you Cover-more for your wonderful attention. I believe you gave 110%.

This is third time I have used covermore and the last...the last occasion I tried to make a claim...they say they pay out 83 % of claims...this is more like reject 83 % of claims...they make you jump thru hoops and still come up with "This claim is being denied"..about time Today Tonight does an investigation into this so called respectable company..absolute frauds!!

Cover-More is BAD.

After providing endless paper work and reasoning my claim under difficult circumstances, cover-more failed to honour my claim. I will not be using cover-more again and am very upset to have thought I was buying "top end" travel insurance however the company by any means did not accompany to ANY of my losses. Not even an offer to financially aid for a smaller percentage. I am very disappointed especially when as the client I provided everything they asked for. Cover-more failed to live up to their role as a travel insurance company leaving me feel like even more money has been taken out of my pocket: stolen items and BAD insurance.

Technical issues resulted flight being cancelled in Bali. Out of pocket expenses incurred $1000+ accommodation in Bali & Darwin and connecting flight to my home town in Oz. Foolishly I thought I had peace of mind with travel COVERmore ☹️insurance purchased through travel agent. Totally flummoxed with refund of $124 approx!
Very disappointed.

Horrible Travel Insurance Company!!

They had promised several times that they had refunded us after making us pay for the medical bills ourselves. I have made so many calls sent over 15 emails and still nothing has been sorted. Don't go with these guys there horrible and I'll be leaving a review everywhere to let everyone know.

Failure to honor Claim

My Tiger Air Flight was cancelled back in January 2018, due to a technical fault of of the Aeroplane and no other flight from Tiger Air was available for me, Tiger Air only offered a refund in two weeks. We were left Hi and Dry at Sydney Airport, I was with my elderly mother and young daughter, we live 181 kms away from the Airport.

I had hotel rooms and activities booked and paid for over the next few days in Queensland, I needed a new flight. I had no choice but to fork out and pay for new tickets to Queensland through Virgin. I had to pay $690 dollars for the new flights, believing Cover-More would cover me due to it being a cancellation out of my control. Tiger Air has since refunded their Cancelled tickets of about $320 and I claimed the difference of ONLY approx $370 through Cover-More.

I was of the belief this insurance policy was to cover "Cancellations" Cover $10,000- as was stated on the Certificate of Insurance, I received. Not so easy.

Cover-More kindly denied my claim due to the Cancellation being the Plane having 'technical issues,',
I believed I was covered for cancellations up to $10,000, and not certain TYPES of cancellations.

After wading through various Cover-More web pages and PDS and other pdf's, searching through the fine print it so blatantly convoluted and confusing.

Now I am becoming learner-ed in Travel Insurance, I am for warning friends and family. I was going to use Cover-More for my next trip this year, I seriously don't think I will ever be doing business with Cover-More again.

I am left out of pocket $390 circumstances beyond my control.

Do not use Covermore

My wife and I used the above insurance recommended by flight centre. I had some issues with my health but none was a deterrent factor of my trip. A month before my trip, I has symptoms and cancelled my trip. Despite a letter from Consultant surgeon stating my previous health issues had no bearing on cancellation of my trip, Covermore stated that I had pre-existing condition, yet my surgeon specifically indicated they were not affecting my holiday plan. Covermore selectively chose those clinical notes that fitted their purpose and even when i asked for review by sending the notes again, they came up with the same outcome. Throughout their investigations their delayed it many times and could not meet their own timelines. they continuously asked for info they had been provided. I am now referring the issue to a relevant ombudsman and will never work with insurance. My advice to anyone travelling is not to waste your money insuring with Covermore, just convert your credit card to a CC that provides complimentary insurance, saving yourselves several hundred dollars and when a genuine situation comes up, you do not regret it, at least you did not pay for it. That is the message I will relay to my friends and like.

Insurance excellent SIM card very poor

Cover more insurance absolutely no problems with this however your overseas SIM card are very poor.
I was in Europe and it was only 3G service not enough for google maps. Very poor. Never your global SIM card ever again. And I been oversea twice since then.

Awesome!!!!

I got 'policy I', with no excess. When i was travelling my phone was stolen, so I got a police report within 24 hours and lodged a claim - worried i wouldn't get much money back. Got an email within 2 days and i will receive the full amount - minus the depreciation. SO pleased with this. Will be using this insurance company again!

Cover-More travel sim

We ordered the Cover-More travel sim for our trip. The sim worked fine in our home country but once we reached our destination it stopped working. We contacted Cover-More for assistance who were unable to resolve the problem, they reported that they were escalating the issue and would contact us with the resolution. We never received return correspondence from them. We have since completed our trip and have been home for over a week and have still not received a response. I have since contacted Cover-More again since returning home and have not received any satisfactory responses in relation to this issue.
Complete waste of money and incredibly poor customer service. We instead used a competitors sim which was less expensive and had no issues.
I do not recommend covermore from a customer service and accountability perspective. Very disappointed.

Stress Free Insurance

How can a traveller plan for engine trouble?

Our flight out of Hayden airport in Colorado should have connected with the Qantas flight out of Los Angeles with 7 hours to spare but the United flight from Hayden had engine trouble and we had to stay overnight in Steamboat Springs meaning we missed our flight, United paid for the hotel. Had to re-book our flights home for the next night with Qantas at considerable cost. My girlfriend's insurance covered her for this resulting in a full refund of the new airfare less the excess, Cover-More didn't. We could have left the day before if the weather forecast was bad but on a beautiful day how can a traveller possibly do anything about aircraft engine failure? Yes it is in the small print. Won't insure with them again.

Difficult website ever. Will not accept destination at all.

I have not got a quote yet as the website will not accept my destinations. Have tried many times. Worse website I have ever dealt with. It's a shame I cannot just phone and get a quote from them. Not happy.

Don't Bother

I have always taken out Cover more, spent hundreds with this company but the one time something went wrong they refused to cover me. My first flight out of Australia was cancelled, there was an issue with the aircraft and therefore completely out of my hands. I lost days of accommodation, connecting flights and thousands of dollars. I got zero back. This is why we take out travel insurance, in case things like this occur. Never will I use Cover More again, nor will i ever recommend them to future travelers.

Hi Patrick, thanks for your question about existing medical conditions (EMCs). We can automatically cover a wide range of EMCs, as outlined on our website here: https://www.covermore.com.au/existing-medical. If your condition does not fall into our list of automatically covered EMCs, then you can complete a medical assessment online during the quote process. This will then tell you whether cover can be provide or not, and if an additional premium applies. Alternatively, call us on 1300 72 88 22 and we'll be able to assist you through it.

My husband has obtained provisional cover for a pre existing condition (Coronary Angioplasty). Our holiday is not for another nine months and a valve replacement (TAVI) procedure is more than likely to be scheduled in the interval (mid-year, date unknown). As the assessment form does not cover declaration of this contingency, can you please advise if the policy will be affected? We are taking a domestic cruise and are required by the company to have travel cover. BMD
