Worst insurance company ever

Long story short, i proposed to my fiance in vietnam, where my passport was damaged by hotel staff, i immediately called covermore for advice and was told that this a was a "claimable event" and not to leave country early as we had cover, and to travel to saigon to the embassy and try and get everything sorted. After 1 week my emergency passport was ready and we continued home. Upon lodging my claim i was told i wasnt covered! But wait....it gets better. I then told them to listen to our recorded conversation where i was told i WAS covered. I was then informed
"Your consultant said CLAIMABLE event, not COVERABLE event, You can claim anything you like but it doesnt mean we are going to cover it"
Mike drop! Unbelievable!!!, we spent thousands trying to recorrect our holiday under the clear advice by staff we should do so. If they had said no, you're not covered, we would have come home straight away and saved our money. Reverse insurance company. Worst company on planet earth

Read the VERY fine print!!!!

This is the second time... I have claimed for something that was completely out of my hands while travelling, and nothing...
What you do get... is a nice email pointing out all the fine print... the VERY fine print...

I booked the cheapest 'longest' option to get home after missing my flight due to an accident on the highway in Spain. Now our little family has a large bill that has to be paid, with no help from this company... Cover More you are an absolute joke!!

Here's hoping that the next Royal Commission is looking into these Insurance companies, they are just as bad as the banks!

No support and no response for 4 weeks

Still waiting for any response whatsoever form the CoverMore team in regards to a claim I submitted over a month ago through the online portal. After 10 business days, was told my evidence was insufficient, then upon uploading even MORE evidence to support my claim I have heard nothing. It has since been another 2 weeks.
There has been no update as to what state my claim is at and the lack of communication is appalling. It should not take 6 weeks to hear a response. I have sent multiple emails and called the support number with no result.

Easy travel cover online

It was quick and easy to buy cover for my recent trip, online. The price was reasonable. I didn’t see how to add my DSLR camera however so I left it off. I thought I’d have to ring up to add it.

Policy is easy to set up online, and covers all the possible destinations, unlike most other companies.
For example: a combination of Indonesia, cruise in the South Pacific, and Australia.

Insurance claim made

HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND

I went overseas to Hawaii in July 2017, resulted in having an allergic reaction and had to go to Hospital. Had to pay $700US up front to the hospital (assuming we would get it back straight away). I was still trying to claim from Cover-more in May 2018. Absolutely ridiculous! ALMOST 10-11 MONTHS!

They keep coming back to me saying it will be a further 10 days before i get any response.
Or that they need further documentation to support my claim. I don't understand why they don't just request all the required documents to start off with. As I provided all medical documents and filled out all the paperwork necessary from my family doctor/doctor from the Hospital in Hawaii.

Covermore came back and said it was my fault for not providing the necessary documents, although I had already provided all the documents that was necessary for my claim.
Ended up sending the same documents 2-3 times, felt like it was just going around in circles before any progress was made, even then the claim would backfire and I would have to resend the hospital bill or my medical records through to them again. I felt like they are just finding an excuse to not make the claim as we owed $2000US to the Hospital in Hawaii and we had already paid over $1000US on medication and doctors bills.

I eventually received all expenses paid in relation to my medical incident at the end of July 2018, but took well over a year to get anything back. Would really recommend going with someone else, Covermore representatives were no help whatsoever.

Disappointing and frustrating

I attempted to update the end date for a policy that had been issued and paid for over 3 weeks earlier. I rang the number supplied and was answered by a call centre in the Philippines. (Please note that Cover-More states on the web page that "Customer operations are based in Australia".) The girl I was talking to was unable to locate my policy despite the fact I gave her my policy number and name under which to search. Not her fault - she was polite at all times - but my frustration built. How can I trust a company that has taken my money, apparently issued a policy but are unable to locate it? So I have requested my money back. This was refused since the 15 day cooling off period was over!! Was eventually offered 50% which I refused as none of this has been my fault. Today I 'chatted' with an assistant (also in the Phillipines and very polite and patient). She told me that Cover-More were refunding 75% of the cost. Better - but not satisfactory. I have used Cover-More in the past but never again and will discourage others. I accept the blame for the wrong date - it is the total frustration of apparently being insured but the company then unable to find the information which is if major concern.

Don't use this company, i was a loyal customer for 10 plus years it means NOTHING to cover more. We had flights cancelled and airline provided 6 reasons why flight was cancelled, cover more would not accept any reason.We were $2000 out of pocket we even had extra flight cancellation cover, just a waste of money. Any way i will have the last laugh, this year we will be away for 2 months and their will be 6 of us going away and NOT using cover more.

Used CoverMore in Bali when we got sunstroke head full cover or premium rather with zero excess. Which works really well which end up at the hospital everything was sorted by CoverMore 0 out of pocket. Really pleased with the speed at which they processed a claim in the call centre lady was lovely. Even though as a bit of a stress head due to the situation we were in but she managed me really well and I couldn't have been happy at the end. So thanks, keep up the great work.
And just bought my insurance cos I'm off to Fiji on Saturday

Not Good Enough Cover More

I cancelled a holiday to Europe due to illness in February. My claim still is yet to be settled and we are now in August...i submitted all required documentation via the Travel Agent at the end of February however Cover More state they didn't receive my claim till May. Additional supporting documentation has been provided on 3 occassions...really..i would believe you would know every that you needed at least by the second request to make your assessment. After 10 days turned into 20 days to decide on an outcome I escalated to the Travel Agent whom engaged a Cover More Rep this week. I have been told the claim will be finalised in 10 days....I am not holding my breath.

One last bit of feedback. You may wish to tell your third party representative to not contact your customers (ie me) until the business transaction has been finalised. More than happy to provide the level of dissatisfaction I have for your Company in the attempt to improve the client experience...not just yet.

Process for buying travel insurance was highly unsatisfactory

When purchasing cover it was not easy to input our information in that we could not alter our info easily and had to restart the process.
Our confirmation does not even show the features we chose to cover.

Easy to set up (but couldn't put in the discount code)

I thought the policy was easy to set up online, but once again, I couldn't find the spot to enter a code word for a competition and discount.
Please make this clearer. I checked twice, and in the end gave up and purchased the policy without entering.

Cover-More's policy setup is straightforward and user friendly, with no hidden costs - you can adjust your cover up and down and see the final price reflected straight away. They also accept paypal, which makes it so much easier to check out on the go. I have just purchased travel insurance for a long trip.

I've used Cover-More for many years, and my first experience with them cemented me as a long-term customer. I had to make a claim for an emergency hospitalisation and Cover-More transformed what could have been a very traumatic experience into an extremely simple one. They weren't just efficient, they were compassionate and went above and beyond to make sure I got everything i needed. I would never travel without insurance, and I would only ever use Cover-More.

Great Initial Review

I have never used Cover More previously. Although I have not yet travelled, but have taken out cover more insurance to cover us doing our overseas holiday. I really enjoyed the application process, it was extremely easy to complete, in comparison to the free Credit Card ones where you had to have a phone interview, and when I declared that I was diagnosed with an EMC of PTSD some ten or more years ago, although I am not on any medications for that or meds for anything else at 71 years of age, they made a really big deal of it, just as though being lectured about it. It just made me uneasy about medical insurance in general. So much so that I have taken out my policy with cover more, which was so so easy to complete. With cover more when I declared my PTSD as an EMC with cover more, explained that I was not on any drugs for it etc etc as cover more asked etc etc, at the completion of my application even though I declared PTSD it came up on my completed cover more application form that I have no EMC,s, which was interesting. Just a dream, to deal with a company which has streamlined the process and made it so user friendly. I have seen some of the negative comments made on this site re cover more. I took out our insurance to predominately cover us for major incidents happening, in our situations at our age. I just could not afford to be hospitalised overseas for weeks or months on end, whereas if someone stole our bags, or an aircraft was cancelled and I lost my airfare as a result, they are not incidents, that concern us really, although probably covered that I could claim for, but would not. Furthermore, I was just happy that cover more gave us insurance even though I was diagnosed with PTSD many years ago, and I positively know that I would never have to submit any claims relating ro my PTSD, I just wanted travel medical insurance to cover major events, such as accidents/hospitalisations, and transport back to Australia if medically unable to do so, as a result of those unforeseen accidents and hospitalisations. Thank you so much cover more, keep up the good work.

My history with using Cover-More dates back almost twenty years. They helped our family out with a situation involving our son who was involved in a surfing accident in Hawaii. I could not fault the service they provided - and I am talking about sending two paramedics to accompany our son back to Australia, removing at least a dozen row of seats from his flight to accommodate him and the required medical equipment. Time spent in Queens Hospital Honolulu, helicopter flight from the accident scene, expert surgical treatment and hospital confinement - the list goes on. The invoice from the hospital was staggering and without support from Cover-More would have been devastating financially. When it comes to travel my only thought is to Cover-More. And with good reason.

We got our claim so our policy was of good value. Our travel Agent at Flight Centre facilitated the setting up of our policy. However, when we had to make a claim, it took 3 months before the claim was finalised and paid by Cover-More Travel Insurance. So be prepared for a long waiting period, and lots of following up yourself by inquiring about your claim regularly and chasing further information for Cover-More.

Thanks for asking your question! When purchasing your travel insurance online, you can declare your existing medical conditions (EMCs) by filling in the short online assessment. This then determines if cover is available for your condition/s. At the end of your assessment, you have the option to accept cover relating to your EMCs (for an additional premium) or decline it. Please call us on 1300 72 88 22 if you have any further questions about cover for your existing medical conditions.

Why do you not refund 100% of costs when you cancel due to illness or injury.????? Can you please explain why I did not receive 100% refund when having to cancel our New Zealand skiing holiday as my husband was injured at work and required a shoulder reconstruction. We received 80% only of costs spend on this trip. I have read the PDS and unable to work out how you calculate refunds. I'm disappointed to not have received a full refund Regards Robyn
