@Heston Blumenthal and kindly asked for help/spare part. Though I live in Germany and gave him my data (the serial number also shows that it is a Fusion that was produced for the German market) he instructed me to get into contact with their distributor in Denmark which was odd but nevertheless I contacted the distributor. The distributor in Denmark told me that he is not responsible for German clients (I totally get that) and send me back to the Heston support unit/[Name Removed]. He gave me another contact but as I have no receipt to show that I am under guarantee nobody will help me. Heston can see that my request is valid by checking my serial number and so I asked him twice to help me out with the needed spare part as this problem is a serious and well know issue obviously as many others state here. He never answered me back on two mails and after nearly 2 months have passed now I have given up hope. I hate writing negative things but I can’t stand the way that I‘m being treated especially as I have recommended the product to friends who have bought a Hub after seeing my fusion and. It is shameful and I am no begging man but in the end that is simply what I was forced to do with the result of simply being ignored

Unsafe device - Heston Company don't honor warranty – I was given one of these $1,100.00 BBQs as a gift 1 year ago. If I used the heating element it would blow the fuses in my house. Everdure Heston BBQ warranty and was dismissed by a rude women as I don't have the purchase receipt due to it being a present. Its obviously a heston BBQ as nobody makes BBQs like that, but I need to produce the receipt to prove its a real Heston BBQ. I have not seen any knockoffs of this BBQ and would be easy to verify the serial number as real and where and when it was purchased, but they are not interested in even trying. They were not even interested in having it back so they could see why it has electrical short problems, considering its also a safety issue I was surprised by the lack of interest. I think Heston would be disappointed with these people using his name and offering such poor service.

Save your money and your electrical system – This waste of money broke down after a couple of uses. Took forever to get through to customer service. After about a month they sent a part and scheduled a service. Unit was fixed...for about another few uses and again shorted out. Now past warranty I have $1,000 piece of garbage on my deck. Really Pleased until 11 months old – We were really pleased with our purchase until it was 11months old when using element started to trip out the circuit breaker each time we used it. Now we have to use fire lighters to get the charcoal going, food still great flavour and no problems with rotisserie. Show details

Keeps tripping the electric board – A $1000 Product won't even last for 2minutes because it keeps TRIPPING OUR ELECTRIC BOARD. We've also done all the troubleshoot. cooked on it, after Everdure assured me it was fixed, my food fell into the pit and cause a grease fire. They had also basically admitted as per other reviews that the wiring was an issue as this had to be replaced

Any follow up to ask for the rod or posts to be repaired have been met with the only offer being to pay!!!! for it to be serviced again. I am alarmed at the fact that the company refused to help when the BBQ obviously was designed so badly and if left unattended could cause fatal injury. I guess you can always say don't leave it unattended for the three hours it takes to cook. Stay away. You will firstly get a garbage product and secondly even worse after sales help. They can stick their BBQ.

showing corrosion an flaking. There is a small locating groove near the skewer handle that in design is a weak point, this has allowed the skewer rod to bend quite easily without misuse or overweighting the rod. The rod ,with the handle extended is not quite long enough to locate into the drive gear so its hard to locate as the pop up locaters have movement and tend to spread apart. The pop up locaters have metal rings and screws surrounding them that should also be stainless and maybe a bit thicker to stop the flex. The stainless grill is badly discoloured and not cleanable as I left this on while cooking the lamb which is a shame.

Lastly very challenging to clean the coal residue /dust gets under the element and you will need lots of patience or an old vacuum cleaner.

overall its a good experience for cooking apart from the few design faults. What would be good is a disposable liner or foil tray , unfortunately the heating element prevents such a thing.

We are extremely disappointed as when I asked the question of Bart (top Chef) he assured me the electrical system is safe.

I can’t use the BBQ and am very disappointed this has presented itself as a real safety issue.

Couldn’t be happier. I can tell the burner and it’s good looks aren’t going to last long but I don’t mind. I could maintain it for years by replacing some of the parts with my mechanical and technical background but I don’t think it’s worth the effort. Next time I’l spend about $600 and get a proper stainless steel pit.

It’s a great first spit and I use it more then I expected but I’m so glad I didn’t pay retail for it.

Love it but trips my electronics! – Have had it two weeks. Love it in every way except it trips my electronics - every time! what a shame. How do i get in contact with the warranty people? Expensive but stylish – I spent a lot of time looking at the Heston range of barbecues trying to justify the price. It looks amazing and has invited comments from many visitors. weight limit before it struggles to turn, but the bigger issue is the flare ups, you need a drip tray which blocks direct heat onto the meat. Drip tray has to be moved when you want to add more coal, which you have to do because the tray is shallow and doesn’t hold enough to cook a full roast, maybe a just a chicken. The coal tray design is a flawed design as well, there’s no air flow to fuel the fire. Cleaning is a hassle, you need to clean it after every use, coal ashes fall onto the heating element and any fat gets baked onto anything it drips on. In summary not worth the money, I can’t sell it without taking a huge loss. A true example of a brand leveraging a chefs reputation to sell a very poor product.

Great design but has design faults – After three uses the orange enamel on the charcoal holder chipped off,exposing the black base metal. A replacement charcoal holder has started to do the same after one use. Further the rotisserie rod handle thread has stripped after 2 uses and tends to slip out of the rotisserie posts. grill above is stationary. The distance between coal and food is not adjustable and frankly too close. To avoid this issue you have to place coals in patterns to have hot spots and warm sports. This means you have to frequently move the coal around and makes it difficult to use the full surface of the grill. If the grill height could have been adjusted this would have solved a lot of this issue.

- No hood on the BBQ I feel really does it a huge disservice. I was used to cooking with a regular BBQ that has a hood that helps retain the heat like an oven and cooks (especially poultry) all the way through. A hood would have also made it possible to use smoke / steam to cook through the meat. Also because there's no hood, the oil splatters down on the ground around the grill a lot. That is only an issue because I have tiled floors in the balcony. I wouldn't care if it wasn't very visible.

- Too much prep and time required to cook on this grill. Because of the issues above I find it's not the best grill for cooking chicken with bones. I usually use deboned chicken or sous vide or oven roast the meat and then grill it on the BBQ to get the charred flavor.

I have no other issues with the grill. The electric coil lights up the coal quickly. The rotisserie works great. It's easy to clean. But for that price I'd have liked a height adjustable grill and a hood. I really wish the manufacturers come up with some sort of solution for this.

Good Fun BUT has issues – I purchased the FUSION model as well as a Heston Gas BBQ. which is a pain. It has been kept undercover and in a Heston Cover also and cleaned after every use. Seems like poor quality and disappointed. Side Note - Also an issue with the gas BBQ temperature gauge which seems to show temperatures that are way over what they really are.

LIGHTING

The electric heating ignition system worked well when I tried it. I prefer to use a coal chimney however for 2 reasons. First, the chimney is mobile and I like to keep the firelighter smoke away, and secondly, it saves me time to use the coals in a separate baking dish which I will explain further in the next section.

COOKING

The results are as I would expect: succulent chicken, tasty lamb, perfect pork. I have been a rotisserie cook for years and this is a great addition to the bbq experience. It only took a couple uses to discover how I could use the 3 cooking heights to my advantage, and the results are delicious. I could go on and on with tips on how to perfect your rotisserie meats but I imagine people have done this already. I will say this though: I like to use the Fusion regularly and since there are only 3 of us, I use a smaller aluminium baking dish to hold the coals. It is slightly longer and wider than a big chook and keeps cleaning to a bare minimum. The next day, when the coals have burned off, I dump the ashes at the bases of my lemon trees.

PERFORMANCE

I can't fault it. The motor is powerful enough to spin what I need - the most I've done at one time so far is a leg of lamb and a big chook (all cut up). It's simple - load it up, switch it on, enjoy the smokey goodness.

PRICE

Hmmm...even though I purchased it at Bunnings at a discount for about $815, I think it's a little pricey. I would prefer it to be in the 6 hundreds, though I suppose the R&D costs money, and to be honest, the internal motor and the electric ignition are kind of funky (I hope they keep functioning long into the future because I've had cheap $300 machines all my life and they never go bung!).

WHY I PURCHASED IT

My other rotisseries are low to the ground and the heat they give off during the cooking process would burn my outdoor patio carpet. The Fusion's attractive pedestal is what ultimately did it for me.

RECOMMENDATION

Sure. One thing I haven't mentioned is the fact it doubles as a regular BBQ. That's cool, but not my mode of operation. I suppose one day I will fire it up as a barby and cook some thick t-bones on it to get the char flavour.

TIPS

1. Clean after every use or the fats will stick and burn on the shiny orange enamel and cleaning will be like an old oven.

2. Use common sense with charcoal cooking. If a particular section of meat is getting too much heat, move the coals - you have complete control over temperatures with just a pair of tongs.

3. I add soaked wood chips to the coals halfway through for additional flavour.

4. Approximately 20-30 minutes into the cooking process, I add more coals to the sides of the tray to 'prep' them. The biggest killer of charcoal cooking is when the heat dies down. To do a big chook you need about 1.5 - 2 hours. Too many coals at the start might burn it, therefore I add them later.

BIGGEST TIP

5. Charcoal rotisserie cooking is about the smoke. And that comes from fat (don't worry, it renders away). Therefore, leaving some fat on lamb, in combination with the fat of a chicken makes a great flavoursome smoke (I use thighs and lamb leg).

That's about it! Rotisserie cooking over charcoal is in my opinion, the best flavour you can achieve for meat. The Fusion gives me that.

Good design but poor quality – After 3 months and used 6-10 times the BBQ looks old with the 3 screws the cover the rotissary poles are rusted and left rotissary doesn't slide out. Fusion tripping my electricity – When I bought the fusion I absolutely loved it however in recent uses every time I have tried to ignight the burner it trips my electricity.
