DO NOT BUY – Ford Fiesta Automatic Powershift transmission has been known to have issues, they have been fined by ACCC but nothing is happening for customers, I have gone back 4 times since I have bought this car in 2013 and they use excuses like it's my driving or I need to speed more on the highway. I asked how many times do I need to come back before I get… Read more

a refund and they said until it is fixed, this was after the second replacement. I will never buy from Ford again and now I cannot onsell as I wouldn't put someone else through this. Absolutely disgusting, I have put in a customer complaint and received no contact.

Don'y buy the Automatic – Terrific car to start with. Purchased August 2015 with only 20,500 kms. Now has just under 59,000 kms and is not driveable. The powershift transmission has become dangerous. Car has been serviced every 7,500 kms which is half the normal period suggested. Ford Australia & our local dealer have wiped their hands as my husband did the engine… Read more

servicing, now blaming a rear main engine seal for the transmission problem. The seals actually leak in the transmission & is world wide knowledge that causes the transmission failure. Not now sure what to do, except to pay for repairs at our cost. No more Fords for us after owning 6 over our driving life. Bad service, poor customer respect, a totally unwholesome experience. The powershift saga is well documented on many platforms of the internet. Unbelievable treatment in this day & age. Ford America have a class action against them, Ford Australia was fined $10 million for bad treatment of customers. This is just a town car that also does occasional country runs, mainly by me & very few times by my husband.

This car has been a Lemon since day 1 – This car has spent so much time at ford almost everything has been replaced. Ford have been really good with replacing parts under warranty. I will never buy another ford after this. It has had all the fuel system, pump, line replaced twice. Gearbox completely replaced (as part of class action) clutch replaced. Front dash and all disks replaced. And still has CONSTANT problems everyday.  Show details

Not the best, but still great – I bought my Zetec as my first car, second hand. It had 80k+ kilometres when I got it, and I've had it for 18 months and it's now got over 130k kilometres. So I know it pretty well. I didn't know there was an issue with the transmission until one day I was driving and it basically stalled on me. (It's an auto). Acceleration did nothing. I… Read more

rolled onto the side of the road, left it for 10 minutes and it started for me. A few days later, 2 mechanics and an auto electrician (and 3 more stalls later) I got it to the Ford Service Centre in Pakenham (Awesome guys) and they replaced the clutch (For free because so many of the Powershift Autos have the issue) It drove like new again.

A few months later and the shudder started again, like it did before the stall. I took it straight to Ford in Berwick and they reset the transmission, and it was perfect again.

Every day is different with this car. Some days it is really powerful and drives like it's meant to (A lot of fun!) and other days it's sluggish and doesn't take off like a rocket at the lights like it otherwise should.

The features are awesome, I use the bluetooth audio every day. Probably once a month it will play up, but switching to the radio and then back again fixes that, you get pretty familiar with how to fix those small things.

Other Cons:

-Cruise control struggles when it's not on a flat road.

-Headlights blow constantly (I've replaced each headlight at least 3 times, and the brake lights twice.

-Really small in the back. I know it's the smallest car ford makes, but any more than 3 people in the car and you're going to be uncomfortable.

-Central locking only works when you're really close to the car

-Older fuel stations fuel nozzles sometimes get stuck in the fancy capless tank opening.

Pros:

-Awesome sound. I can't drive without loud music, and I love sound quality... this car is great for that.

-Awesome bluetooth

-So easy to navigate through traffic and park

-Cheap to run. It's never cost me more than $40 to fill the tank.

-Boot space is great, more space than in friends larger cars.

-(Something silly) But it just sounds really good when you drive. It doesn't sound boring, one of the reasons I bought it.

Seat Height Adjustment – I wrote a rave report about my 2013 WT manual Fiesta a while ago. Performance is excellent, especially with the Magna Flow exhaust that I had fitted. Unbelievable fuel economy even on E10 95. No rattles or squeaks and nothing has fallen off yet. Apart from the fact of a slight over rev now and then between gears, I can live with it. Now comes the… Read more

best bit. The driver's seat height adjustment. It is cursed with the seat constantly going down. The car has only done 22,000klms. I've had if back to Ford 3 times and on the 3rd time the seat was replaced. Ford have discounted the height lever being depressed when you get in and out of the vehicle. It cannot be done as was demonstrated to the service people, so therefore it has to be the design of the seat, right?

The Ford Ranger had a similar problem but they have a replaceable base. Guess what? It still does it but only until it goes all the way down. I don't blame the service people because it's not their fault but when I get told that I'm the only person on the surface of this planet that this is happening to (after 2 seats), I steadfastly refuse to believe that I am the only one. My warranty runs out in March 2016 and I'd like to know if anybody else is suffering the same problem. I know Ford, as well as other manufacturers monitor these sites so I'd dearly love Ford to remedy this problem for me.

EDIT: Since my last report and absolutely no response to my email by Ford whatsoever, I sent them another one and told them I have finally found the problem. They were HALF right. The height adjustment lever is situated as to give no leeway. I have found, the merest of weight on it from getting in and out of the vehicle, does indeed lower the seat over a period of time which makes their design WORSE than anything said about it.

I have read reports about 2009 models doing it. I have devised a cheap and effective remedy and I have advised my Ford dealer that if they so desire, they can send a Ford Rep around and and I will sell them the rights to my invention, considering the fact that they have had years to fix their design fault and have not done so. Edit: I have had a seat replacement but that didn't work either. Have solved the problem of the seat going down with 2 cable ties, something Ford's engineers have been incapable of doing for years.

Fantastic Car – I think this is a great car. I own a 2011 Ford Fiesta Zetec. Regarding transmission issues with the PowerShift, I too had plenty of issues with clutch shuddering (felt like the car was bunny hopping/stalling). However, Ford have noticed this issue and are offering a complimentary service program where they'll update the software on the… Read more

transmission etc. Since then, my Fiesta is like a brand new car; the PowerShift is very responsive, with no shuddering. It's nippy, has plenty of power and looks great, especially with the Zetec model which is what I own.

On the inside, you're hugged with sport seats (Zetec model), given a whole range of options with the centre console, and an easy to navigate dashboard. You get Bluetooth which offers handsfree calling and music streaming, a USB port, AUX, CD Player and a radio standard. The cabin space is pretty good, given the compact size of the car, and you have a fair sized boot with fold down seats. Perfect for a single person or a young or retired couple, with a good amount of leg room for passengers. I just wish that there were auto headlights and more adjustments with the steering wheel (there's only a tilt option).

Overall, I love my Ford Fiesta and I enjoy driving it everyday. It's good looking, has just enough power, and I feel very safe in it.

Good little run around – The performance has been really good so far, after six years (and a few charges) I have only now had to change the battery which I think is rather good. The car handles very well and is responsive to movements, it is good in traffic and comfortable to drive. I wish the Bluetooth didn't just connect to your phone for calls made and received but also connected to Bluetooth devices for music.  Show details

Great Car – Great to drive, park, fast, good visibility, good size boot. I love this car it's quite sedate before you hit 80klms, but it goes from 80 to 120 in no time a no effort. Have to be mindful of the speed as very easy on the open road to be breaking the speed limit in a quick time. Handles well on corners. In 8 years the car has had one battery replaced, nothing else and no other issues.  Show details

Good small car, But! – The ford fiesta is certainly a wonderful small car! The pro's involves great handling, good mileage, great speakers and its good looks. The biggest drawback of the car is the transmission. The car shudders and struggles a lot on low gear(1-2). Other than that it works great! Fun to drive!  Show details

Great handling but transmission is not consistent – Bought my ford fiesta new in 2012. Have done 72000 kms so far Pros: Steering response is fabulous. Boot space in sedan model is big for car of this size. Turning circle is good. 3 isofix points Cons: Started feeling gear shudder after 60000 kms. Gear shudder is more evident when car is fully loaded (4 passengers). Rear seating suitable for maximum of two people unless they are very lean.  Show details

design to jerk and shutter under acceleration and deceleration, same as a manual vehicle with twin clutch plates if you are not at a consistent throttle percentage. When you constantly go from 25 to 50 to 75% throttle the clutches are working to provide acceleration with minimal fuel usage.

was I believe this car & transmission likes to be driven hard... Get this Fiesta out on the hi-way doing 100km it drives like a dream handles like a sports car on the road fuel economy is great ( have only run it on BP Ultimate) .. it has so many options in the car as standard like Bluetooth and a AUX plug. the interior is very stylish and fancy. not much leg room in the back seats but that's understandable for a hatch.. ford forget to mention that it doesn't come with a spare tyre that's a optional extra ( found out the hard way )

Fords Cap Price Service is very decent aswell as it comes with 12 month road side assist for around $265 the last one cost.

would I recommend this car Yes maybe just get a manual or test drive the auto a few times to see if you like the powershift auto

Decent if flawed in some areas – Bought new in mid 2012. Only has 18,000km's on the clock. is a pain in the rear end to use as it seems to have no real distinct pick up point (Bite) and has a mushy feel in its action though the clutch pedal. Most Manuals can become smooth and easy to drive after a few hours behind the wheel but over two years later it's still an issue. I'll be selling the car soon for this reason alone.

Paint had some defects in it (Dirt inclusion) Still it's small and for the most part finish is ok.

Has an annoying rattle that comes and goes in the drivers door.

Engine has a surging feel to it when you have the aircon on. First small car I have owned that is this bad. Thought it was a fault but nope all like that.

Air con just good enough for W.A's hot summers.

No spare wheel.....This is australia Ford and this ain't some sports car that might benefit from not having one. Try getting yourself out of trouble 500k's out of town/city with a blown tyre with that goo rubbish.

Broke down as I pulled into fast moving traffic one day and almost got rear ended. Engine had no power and was surging up and down. Lucky turning it off and back on fixed it. Nothing but a general error code came up so who knows what caused the issue.

No engine temperature gauge. Smells hot all the time in summer but how would you know if thats normal or there is an issue? Good one ford. (All was ok durn service so must be normal that it has that hot engine smell)

Not really that good on fuel.

Good points. Decent value to buy new, Seven airbags and all the driver aids like ABS, stability control etc included even in the base models. Looks good. Feels fairly solid. Decent tyres, good level of sound insulation for a car in it's class. Decent sound system. 5 star crash rating.

Selling it as soon as the warranty is over. Would I buy one again? Nope, not unless the next model fixes the issues I have with this model.

Ford should be ashamed of themselves – A true lemon. It's not a case of what is wrong with it - rather what's right with it. The largest issue is the automatic transmission. Negatives are the no spare wheel though i will get one from a wrecker.
