A Battery will get your through a day or two low generation days without breaking a sweat.

But when there is a few cloudy days in a row, by about day 4 it's getting low.

With the Zero hero plan that is never a worry as you can fully charge your battery during the 3 hour free power window everyday, like clockwork.

Additional bonus in return is being able to reliably export 15-20 kwh back to the grid during the peak usage window, thus getting a $1 bonus and a small amount back in feed in.

Unlike some of the providers, this plan can be set up to run on a timer rather than needing automation scripts based on market rates and if/then weather calculation scripts.

So far have gone from having a $10 per day electricity bill to about $2-ish credit. I haven't tested what happens when attempting to collect the credit but hopefully that is smooth too.

wanted to achieve better than actively trading power on th wholesale market (like Amber). I’m not connected yet though and there’s been a few issues with the account set-up/correct plan/smart meter. Next day I called GloBird! … “You are 74th in line”!!! “74th”!!!! WTH!! I hung up, leaving a ‘call back request’. … nobody called! Two days later, I got onto the website (outside of the app) and requested another call back. Within a few hours I got a call back from Ringwood, Vic from someone for whom English as his first language; didn’t require me to spell the maiden name of my mother’s butcher’s dog (and then effusively praise me (from a script) for doing it) to make simple and obvious (non confidential) corrections to my account details.

Problem solved (I think)! First call! …… They’re probably busy, with so many new batteries coming on line, so the support is thin. But When I’ve contacted someone though - issues have been fixed! Instantly!

He ordered a new smart meter for me. We’ll see how that pans out over the next couple weeks.

So far, so (tentatively) good!

Origianl 2025-10-18:

From $185 to $372 — Random Estimation, No Transparency, and a Sales Pitch Instead of Help!

I’ve been with GloBird Energy since October 2023, and my electricity usage has always been steady — about 10 kWh per day since April 2025. Then suddenly, in October 2025, my bill jumped from $185 to $372, with an estimated daily usage of 30 kWh/day — three times higher than usual.

When I contacted customer service to ask how this estimation was calculated, they avoided the question completely. Instead of investigating or arranging a proper meter read, I received a generic explanation about “seasonal variation” and “estimations based on distributor data,” followed by a sales pitch encouraging me to switch to another plan.

No one explained why my specific estimation (meter read 67704) was so far off from my actual pattern. The estimation feels random and arbitrary, not data-driven.

What’s worse, when the estimation jumps over 300 kWh, the usage spills into Step 2 pricing — where the rate rises from $0.38 to $0.40 per kWh — meaning customers effectively pay a higher tariff for energy they may not have even used.

It feels like a trap hidden in the estimation system. Even if they later correct it with an “actual read,” the overcharged amounts have already hit your bank account — and good luck getting someone to explain it clearly.

On top of it, the GloBird customer service also write to me: ... arrange for Endeavour Energy to attend outside of the scheduled meter read cycle. Please note there is a fee of $44 to book this service.

GloBird should provide transparent estimation data or arrange actual reads, not leave customers guessing while using inflated estimates as a reason to upsell different plans.

If you’re considering joining, you are living in apartment or unit, unable to do self-reading, think very carefully about how “estimation” really works — because it might not be as fair or consistent as you expect.

energy rates need to be increased from time to time, but why not give me the rates you are offering online? Why increase by more than 40%? I feel it is nothing short of dishonesty and greed.

I called them to discuss this at 9:02 on Friday morning (29/8/2025) and was told there were already more than 400 in the call line ahead of me. So I requested a callback. They called me at some arbitrary time on Saturday, and I couldn't get to the phone on time. They sent me a text message asking me to call them again. I try and get a recording saying the call centre is closed and will only open on Monday.

I think it is best to keep away from this company.

"raising prices in line with industry standards whilst making barely any margin" because if that were the case - you wouldn't re-sell energy for one, and you would offer new clients the same pricing that existing customers already pay. If the price were the price of "industry costs and standards". It isn't hard to compare that if someone who has been with the business for months and is already paying 1.58c and 0.56c after hiked prices, yet you are offering the same area, same service, same rate, same usage to a new customer at 1.04c and 0.24c, that is egregiously disingenuous and exposes your entire business model. If the current price was the latter, you'd be offering that to everyone including existing customers and lowering their bills. And if the current price was actually the former, that would also be a new customer price that everyone else is paying from the get go.

tune of 54% anyway. I mean it's a fact of life that energy prices continually increase (has anyone ever had unit cost actually go down??) but 54% is an outrageous increase to be foisting on existing customers. We moved elsewhere for electricity immediately and found a deal not only better than GloBird's crazy 54% increase but actually better than their original prices. Avoid.

the history of Australia this has happened.

I was previously a customer of Globird energy over an year ago but I discontinued services with them because they suddenly hiked their rates exorbitantly (this was beyond the market rates or default offer rates) their rates increments for period after June 2024 needs invetigation by the law and this needs to be investiaged by ACCC and regulators, and, may be they wanted to increase their high spending customer base. As an energy supplier you should not have any right whatsoever to pick properties as per your liking. High usage customers get the utilities but others don't without any justification, information or any sort of legal authority.

This is a very serious discrimation against the society. I hope ACCC, Consumer affiars and regulators immediately invetigate Globird operations. There are several others that have made a similar complaint online, I am sure there are many.
