Leftover items, property damage – I’m incredibly disappointed with my recent experience using Men That Move for my move on 27 November. I sent an email outlining my concerns and followed up with a phone call, but I’ve yet to receive an adequate response as I’m told the office staff weren’t there Friday, or Saturday and not back in till Monday. This move is still ongoing and has… Read more
been horrendous - for my own wellbeing I need this resolved promptly so I can please move on—I’m not interested in this dragging on for weeks.
Key Issues:
1. Failure to Communicate Leftover Items and general incompleteness of Move
The most frustrating issue was the lack of communication about the volume of items left behind. I was told it was “just a TV” and was only sent one photo showing the tv, a mirror on the wall and a couple of boxes. (Since calling them, they argued that they did offer to go back and pick up the items, but based on the information we had at the time, we felt it was not needed).
However, as I started to unpack it became evident more items I was expecting, had not appeared. Our end of lease clean was happening the next day at 7am, so I dragged myself back to the old apartment at midnight, and was utterly shocked by the state it was left in, and the volume of essential items scattered across various rooms. I had to load up my car myself late at night— as a single female already stressed and overworked with the move - it was absolutely a task that I hired Men That Move to handle. I’ve captured evidence of the rooms attached - however the kitchen bench which you can’t view - also had 3 x large boxes and the microwave left behind for me to carry out myself.
2. Failure to Provide Notice
Despite being promised a call 30 minutes prior to arrival, none was given. The team arrived unannounced, causing unnecessary disruption.
3. Excessive Duration & Poor Communication
The move took far longer than anticipated (7.5 hours), with no clear explanation or consistent updates. I checked in regularly, was repeatedly given incorrect ETAs, and a random check-in call at 12:34 PM served no purpose.
4. Property Damage
A noticeable scuff and chip were left on the upstairs bedroom door of my new property, which was in perfect condition during the pre-settlement inspection.
5. Essential items
Essential items I would have expected to have been considered when deciding what to prioritise packing - like the vacuum, bedding and cleaning supplies were left behind. They were scattered across different rooms, not even collated downstairs to assist with me having to collect them.
6. Carelessness
Boxes were not placed in their designated rooms despite the effort of being clearly labeled. Toilet lids were left up, and lights were left on at the old property—basic things that show a lack of care and disregard. Yes, moving is exhausting and I am still living through that now.
7. Missing & Damaged Items
Several glasses and a picture frame were smashed, and half of an iPad stand is missing. Given the disorganized state the team left, I’m concerned more items may be missing or damaged as I continue to unpack.
Positive Feedback
I had high expectations based on Men That Move’s positive reviews and I’m at a point in my life where I can thankfully afford to pay for quality service to outsource tasks I don’t want or can’t do. I appreciated the eco-friendly moving boxes provided—they were a standout feature. Unfortunately, the overall service on the day fell far, far below expectations.
Refund Request
I was charged $1,100 for 7.5 hours (plus a $250 deposit), but the service I received was not worth this amount. On top of this I’ve spent considerable time documenting these issues and ruminating over how this went so wrong, addding even more stress to an already difficult move.
I’m kindly requesting prompt attention to this feedback, an apology, and a reasonable partial refund to account for the delays, poor communication, property damage, overall incomplete, subpar service and a terrible experience.
Expensive, not careful, damaged furniture – I had a short move (15 minutes drive) to a new apartment. It was only meant to take 3 hours, but the movers dawdled and ended up taking 4.5 hours. This cost me an extra $270 on top of the $540 minimum fee. So a total of $810 for a short move. The movers were quite nice, but forgot a dolly and a part of my bed at my old place. I offered to drive… Read more
back and pick it up to save them time, which took an extra 35 mins. When I got back, they hadn't done much more moving and were relaxing in the truck. They also slightly damaged my desk and bedframe and didn't tell me about it. Go with someone else!
Amazing removalist – The guys arrived on time at 7am. Johnny and his cousin were super nice and helpful. They got it all done in 4 hours (1 hour communite). Apart from experienced removalists, I love the fact that the company supplies eco boxes with no extra cost. Would definitely commend them and use their services again.
Positive reviews
My move was most likely worst case situation, getting heavy large items out of a 2 bedroom apartment via one lift to a 3 story house. Rafi and his team smashed it out like it was nothing. The amount of boxes and junk we had was over whelming and Rafi's team went from 0 to 100 in no time and never stopped till the end. Would highly recommend Men that Move, they got a couch up impossible stairs no damage no problem!
Great and efficient service – We just moved places and these guys were brilliant. Ivan, George and Pedro did a great job. Very happy with the service. They were fast, professional and careful. A lot of things can go wrong moving apartments but I would 100% recommend their services. Thanks for making such a stressful day a lot easier.
Best movers ever – Raffia and his team were unbelievably good. They took great care with all items, very friendly and were very efficient. Made the move so much easier. Can't recommend highly enough.
Negative reviews
Worst moving experience – I booked with Men That Move to move from a standard 2-bedroom apartment to a house. When I booked online, it automatically told me that they would need to provide 3 men to complete the job. The 3 men showed up at 7am and were done by around 10.30am as the truck (very small) was full already. The 3 guys were lovely. However, I wasn't impressed that… Read more
they left a $5K armchair in my car space in the basement without telling me, which I found about 1.5 hours after they left.
I then had to hire a GoGet van and do the rest of the move myself, which took me 9 hours and 3 loads to complete.
The apartment consisted of the 40 free boxes they provided, a buffet unit, mirror, 6-seater dining table, armchair, 3-seater lounge, fridge, washer, dryer, desk and chair, king-size bed, queen-size bed, 4 bedside tables, outdoor 6-seater dining table, 2 outdoor armchairs, 2 large pots, exercise bike, push bike, a rug, and some stuff stored at the very end of the garage which I disclosed at the time of booking.
I knew that I would need to hire a GoGet van for 1 load, but not 3 loads. It's significantly harder to move when you don't have a trolley or mobile platform the removalists have.
It was the worst move of my life. Their trucks need to be bigger for the job. The truck would only be suitable to move a 1 bedroom unit.
Awful experience. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
dont believe the hype – I organized the movers. Stated it was a small move only down the road. I could have got someone for $150 per hr with no minimums charge and did not see the hidden minimum charge (3 hrs). The removalists arrived an hr earlier at 6.30 in the morning ( was meant to be 7.30 but it was lucky I was awake) . They did not care they were early and stated… Read more
it was good traffic. they were pretty rough damaging and scratching things (dropped and broke side table). They took less that 2 hrs and I got charged $480. So they are not good value for smaller moves. Get someone local that does not rip you off. Would I recommend no there is much better value out there. When I asked about the expensive charge their representative stated There is no refund outstanding, or owed to you, for the service on Monday 9th October
I would not recommend them to my worst enemies – They are bullies and try to use intimidation when you have a legitimate issues with their service. On the day of the move they asked to speak to me to ask how things went, however, they asked to speak to me on speaker phone on a phone that belonged to one of the movers. This wouldn't have been much of an issue if there weren't problems with the… Read more
move. However, I was put in an uncomfortable situation as a single woman moving and having to voice my issues in front of the men who caused the issues. At the time I spoke to [Name Removed] and voiced my concerns and he agreed that he would call me back once I was safely inside. He then called back and I detailed all of my concerns, he advised he was unable to assist and that it would be best if I sent an email straight away so things couldn't be miss remembered as time went on. I sent an email the very next day, as the move was exhausting as it took all day which was very unexpected.
I then sent a detailed email that outlined all of the issues, a brief summary of the issues are as follows
- All up this took from 10:20am to 6:20pm for a 1 bedroom plus study apartment. I emailed asking about an elliptical that I owned and wanted to make sure that wasn't an issue. They replied saying it wasn't an issue before I booked. When I did the booking I chose one bedroom as I had done in the past and had never had an issue because it was a one bedroom apartment with a study. I also outlined that in the order form when making the booking. I have used them twice before this time and never had an issue. My previous moves had two beds and more furniture. However this time it was just my bed and a small desk in the study. Meaning my previous moves with them had more furniture.
- Two men were hired however, one man worked at 100% capacity and one worked at 50% capacity and mostly stood around and dusted a couple of items. At the destination one man just stood there in the truck and waited to hand things to the either guy to bring things in.
- At both sites, one of the removalist (I am sorry but I did not get his name) asked to use the bathroom, which in itself is totally reasonable, however what is not reasonable is to not lift the toilet seat and to leave urine all over the seat. When this happened a second time I asked him to clean up after himself, which resulted in them standing there stopping their work and discussing the issue. Which goes to my first issue of how long this took.
The email I sent to the company goes into much more detail.
Once I sent the email I waited patiently for a reply. Three days passed and they hadn't replied. Four more days passed and they still hadn't replied. Finally 9 days later they replied saying the office staff do not work on the weekends and that the office staff will reply the following day. I waited another 2 days and still nothing. I gave them time between the holidays and finally emailed asking if I could get a reply on the 6th of Jan. Still no reply. Finally on the 11th of Jan when I said I would like a reply before I raise these issues I got a response.
The only addressed the issue of the intimidating call, they just justified why they do it that way. If there wasn't any issues I wouldn't have minded but if someone has an issue they shouldn't be put into a confrontational situation.
They then said they will provide an offer of resolution IF I agree to have a meeting with one of their office staff members and the movers. Which again is putting me in an incredibly intimidating and uncomfortable situation. I voiced these concerns and see no reason for me to have to put myself in this situation. I already provided all the details they would need to manage their own employees.
After voicing those concerns they said they will only provide a resolution IF I have this meeting. Which is absolutely insane! No company has a disciplinary meeting with the customer who has an issue. I am not their HR nor should I have to do their jobs.
DO NOT USE THEIR COMPANY. They are just bullies.

Raffi and Jije did an amazing job. The moved all furniture out of my 2 bedroom apartment with care and precision. I had a few unusual items (a server rack and large tool chests) that they had no issues with. Everything was packed into the truck quickly and efficiently. At the destination (1.5 hours away) they made sure items were placed in the… Read more
correct locations around the house. They were both friendly to chat with and also very professional. I would recommend them in an instant! Great work to help reduce the stress of moving.
We recently booked a 1 bedroom apartment move. The online booking system was very easy and very straightforward prices were shown directly and I was able to give a detailed description of what was to be moved and the destination. We had two stops one to a storage unit and the other to our new address. The two men who arrived were lovely but there… Read more
were some small annoyances I guess you would call it. They arrived late (after the 7-8am window) however they did communicate this via text which was appreciated. I had the apartment packed and in two sections (front items were to go to new address and back items to storage as storage was first stop) I also labelled the storage items with blue tape to be easy for them to identify. We had a lift at the first apartment it took them around 2.5 hours to load the truck. They then went to the storage unit which took an hour to unload (this is understandable as there was quite a distance from the lift to our space). They then proceeded to our new apartment and unloaded the rest and had to navigate a flight of stairs which they didn’t complain about. Some items which were intended for storage made it to our final destination which was a slight annoyance but not hard to fix ourselves. My main issue was the driver didn’t seem to be given the detailed description that I sent upon booking which would have made their day easier I feel as they would have had it in writing. The company did ring and send a text throughout the day to check all was okay which was good. Overall we were satisfied despite the very very minor annoyances. The two men were very nice and didn’t complain at all about the job and were careful with our items.
The removalists at Men that move were phenomenal! Nothing was a problem and they even helped to take a front door off to fit our things in the small house. Raffi and his team were the best!! So professional and incredibly helpful. I can’t recommend them enough.

Great service, punctual and professional – I previously used Men That Move to relocate from a two bedroom apartment to a two bedroom house, they were great, so this time when I needed to put furniture in storage whilst I was having renovations carried out, I didn't hesitate to use them again. They arrived on time and efficiently and professionally loaded my goods into their truck. It was a… Read more
short move from my house into their storage facility in Marrickville. When it was time for my furniture to come back again they were punctual, efficient and professional. Men That Move are good value for money and I would highly recommend them.
Professional, Courteous and Efficient – Rafi and his team moved us out of our two bedroom apartment and did an excellent job. They turned up early (and communicated that beforehand), worked hard, were very professional, checked in with me when they weren’t sure about something, they were very careful and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. I couldn’t be happier with the… Read more
service from these guys. Even box drop-off was on time and as expected. Would definitely use these guys again.
Excellent Service – It was not an easy move and went 30 minutes overtime due to a building manager not being helpful, but the movers handled the challenges extremely well. They were very careful with our belongings and very professional and understanding throughout the entire process. (1 bedroom apartment, medium distance) Show details
Professional and efficient – Excellent service with a very friendly, hard-working team of three. Moved three bedroom house into an apartment. On time, no damages and definitely recommended. Will see them again in a year!
The best movers I have used - highly recommend – Punctual, professional & great communication throughout the process. I will highly recommend Raff & his team who navigated many stairs and bad weather on the day.
Professional, polite removalists - do recommend – Raffi was respectful and professional. Managed a complex move of two one bedroom apartments between Canterbury, Newtown and up a stairwell in Petersham conveniently and professionally.
No tail-gate-lifter on trucks makes for hard work and slows progress – The move was from a 2 bedroom apartment with garage to the same at the other end and both are ground floor apartments. The crew arrived at 7am. Felipe and John worked hard to load the truck and were polite, happy and focused on ensuring all my possessions were loaded and stowed safely. I had expected the whole move to be completed in 6.5 hours at… Read more
most because the distance between pick-up and destination was only 12kms and nearly everything was boxed other than a few furnishings and some sporting equipment. Unfortunately, the truck did not have a tail-gate-lifter thus everything had to be lifted from the ground up onto the truck many boxes were very heavy and my tool cabinet and tool boxes were more so. Office files and kitchen appliances, pottery, books and other weighty items were also accumulated into boxes. The guys were exhausted just loading the truck, but unloading it and stowing gear into the garage, and into the apartment just slaughtered them. They went without lunch and only drank water. In the end the whole move took 8.5 hours on top of which I was also charged an additional hour for the destination being more than 25kms from the Sydney CBD when in fact it was less than that from the drop-off location to the Marrickville depot. So, all up this was 3.5 hours more than expected. Had I not also helped in loading and unloading the truck it would have been much longer still. I certainly appreciated the Eco Boxes that were provided they are much stronger than cardboard boxes which I used for about half the boxed load. Pity there aren't some suitable for carrying wine collections as I had to box 360 bottles into six pack boxes sourced from my local wine store. Tail-Gate-Lifters are a must!!!
Amazing – Highly recommend “men that move”. Moved on monday and the guys were so polite and super quick!! Fantastic company! They provided the crates and took them at the time they said they would. Thank you so much
Reliable on time service, reasonable price – I recently moved Sydney to Melbourne with Men that Move. The quote was 15m3 for $2200 including pick up from apartment and delivery to apartment. I booked 2 weeks ahead and a week after that my furniture arrived. They also took apart and rebuilt the bed. The bolts to my bed got lost somewhere, but they went to the hardware store that day and… Read more
bought new ones to sort it out. Sometimes stuff happens and they fixed it on the day and that's all you can ask. The actual process involved a couple of guys picking up my furniture in Sydney, putting it into a moving box, handing it over to the Melbourne branch, and a couple of different guys delivered the furniture. All professionally handled. Recommend.
I did get quotes from other movers, but they were more that double the price quote by MtM and also said delivery would take 4-6 weeks in between picking up and dropping of my furniture.

Quick and Efficient – Thanks to Men that Move for a quick and efficient operation. They were on time (even getting to our storage locker before the arranged time). Raffi and his offsider did a great job, they were polite and courteous and helped to make sure we didn’t inconvenience the other owners of the apartment building. Would definitely recommend and use Men That Move again in the future! Show details
Second time using men that move – Second time we’ve used men that move. Chris and Michael were awesome, professional, quick and efficient! They took extra care to handle the move on our new floors and freshly painted walls.
Fantastic Move – Raffi and Gigi helped me move today and they were fantastic, attentive and really went the extra mile. Would recommend to any of my friends. Thanks guys, get some rest.
Very happy with men that move – The guys were efficient and careful. Heavy duty moving boxes for 2 weeks included, which really helps. Price is good too. Will definitely use again next time I move. Thanks team!
The best removalists I’ve had in my 12 years living in Sydneh – Johnny and Elias were fantastic today. Extremely polite and very experienced. Nothing was too difficult for them! Expensive & time wasting – Guys were to arrive in between 7am and 8am, first guy arrived at 8am, had a look at items to be transported ( 2bedroom apartment ) told me 4 hours maximum . The truck and second guy arrived at 8.30am ….. I found between the two guys one was slower than the other , wasting time by taking single items to the truck . I received a phone call from… Read more
office asking how my move was going , I told the person it was to slow and I had another truck arriving the same day and didn’t want these trucks at the property at the same time . Guy said he would speak with removelists.. ( don’t think this happened ) 6 hours later and a total of $1100 ….. I was not happy . I have moved in the past and never cost me this much money and time and I’ve had more items in the past . ( no washing machine or dryer or bed frames this time around ) I will never recommend this company , my communication with the office was very poor too. Word of mouth is everything .
I had the absolute worst experience with that company in Jun 2020 – We were moving from different Sydney suburbs: North Ryde to CBD. It was aone bedroom apartment, so you'd hope things will go smoothly. But the very first thing - movers arrived 2 hours earlier and none of our lift bookings were available, so we had to scramble to sort it out asap. Then it got worse. 1. the movers broke our washing machine and… Read more
attempted (successfully) to hide it by plugging it in, so that we don’t have to touch it and won’t discover it is broken. I was surprised they plugged it in for free… until I found out that if I actually touch it, the front panel falls down…
2. (this is super minor, but) After the move was done the movers spent 30 minutes just drinking water that we offered and using our toilet. Which is fine. But they charged us for another hour because of that. If we weren’t kind and kicked them out instead of offering water and facilities - we would have saved ourselves over 100$.
3. (the worst part) we took the insurance for the move, so obviously we called them as soon as we found out the washing machine was broken. Not only the insurance was completely useless - they calculated how much they owe us based on the price of buying the exact same model of the exact same year of making (which was not even available). The price they came up with was below the excess. But also their customer service has hinted several times VERY TRANSPARENTLY that they often have to deal with customers that initially try to claim something is broken during the move, only to pull out after they are told the claim will be investigated. And that in their opinion is because things were broken long before the move and the people sought to profit from blaming the company. I was outraged by their attitude more than anything. Needless to say they did not apologise even once.
They are not a cheap company, but we though that by picking a higher price range and taking their insurance we are buying peace of mind. As if!
Best Removalists in town!! – Finding Men That Move was the best discovery we’ve had in the moving process. We’ve used this company 4 or 5 times now as they are professional, efficient, timely and caring which is so helpful during the stressful time of moving. They offer a great range of services and boxes with your move. We will definitely be using Men That Move for future relocations. Thanks guys!
Excellent removalists! – This is the sixth move with MenthatMove by our family members, including the recent one (on 5 July, 2021) which is the first for my wife and I. From the ease of receiving a quote; responsiveness to our follow-up enquiries; confirmation of arrangements; and the results on the day, they offered exceptional service. regional city with items delivered to two destinations, in Sydney and and country NSW, went smoothly and to time. The staff arrived punctually, were courteous, polite, obliging, efficient, professional and skilled. All items were delivered safely and in sound condition. We were delighted at the outcome and they certainly made moving a good experience. We would not hesitate to recommend Meant thatMove and will engage them again!
The best removalist in Sydney – It's my second time to use their service. They were very efficient. They came on time. Very effectively moved my 4 bedrooms house. They loved their jobs.
