Do not buy from this company. Their warranty conditions are in complete contradiction to the Australian Consumer Law and are virtually non-existent. Their prices are competitive, but if something goes wrong, they stuff you around for months. I… Read more

purchased a be quiet! 750W Dark Power 12 80+ Titanium Power Supply from MSY Computers on 16/02/2023 which has a 10 year warranty. In January 2026, I sent the power supply back to MSY to confirm the major fault and to provide a replacement or refund. They state in their conditions, and they communicated in their support chat, they may send the item back to the supplier for possible repair. I have been communicating with them for over 2 months to try to gain a replacement or refund required by the Australian Consumer Law but have been unsuccessful.

Follow-up  · They did not offer a loan item, I was lucky I had a rather slow backup computer I could use while I waited. In the end, they did refund the money after they said they sent the item back to the supplier in Germany who confirmed the fault. The fault was the power supply wouldn't boot. It started by not booting from sleep, but in the end it wouldn't boot at all.

Do not buy anything from this company! I purchased a personal computer from MSY over the internet, took over one month to get it delivered to QLD. The PC was not tested, Windows 11 Pro that i purchased with the PC was not installed, I had to install it myself. The graphics card works when it feels like working. I reported the problem , and MSY… Read more

told me to contact the graphics card manufacturer. But MSY give 12 mths warantee on their PCs. When I confronted them with the warrantee, they told me to post the PC to their Melbourne office with prepaid return postage..... Stay away from these useless impotent loosers.

Pascoe Vale store has moved to Essendon but Productreview.com.au drop down is out of date. The review is about the Essendon store but I suspect it is the same for all stores. Update: If the company’s position is supported only by internal service logs and brief technician notes, then physical video or photographic records—along with my own logs and independent testing evidence—carry far greater probative weight. This is especially true where such independent results demonstrate the same instability issues. When a… Read more

company relies solely on internal records to justify “no fault detected,” without supplying physical proof at the time of service, it raises concerns of procedural fairness and evidentiary reliability. If physical proof is withheld until after an independent technician’s findings are presented, such late-produced evidence may reasonably be treated as less reliable or even non-admissible, as it fails to meet the standards of contemporaneous and transparent documentation.

The company’s position is further undermined by its selective interpretation of results. They have claimed that “crashing and overheating never occurred” until the independent tester altered CPU power limits, while ignoring the fact that: • The CPU demonstrably failed to perform at default BIOS limits prior to any adjustments. • Their own graphs already reflect instability consistent with those failures. • Key symptoms—including screen flickering, stuttering, freezing, and games failing to load past the menu—were disregarded, despite being documented in my records.

This selective omission of material faults, combined with the absence of contemporaneous physical evidence, significantly weakens the credibility of conclusions

I’ve noticed a number of reviews here that reflect similar experiences to my own. To avoid any risk of defamation, I’m simply sharing what I’ve learned through personal experience and public consumer law resources — not to target or mischaracterise any business unfairly, but to contribute to public interest discussions. For that reason, I’ve used conditional and hypothetical language, particularly when referencing examples of potential ACL violations.

If you’re experiencing issues with a product or a dispute, it’s worth knowing that the ACCC and state/territory regulators (Trading Affairs/ ACL) can investigate breaches of consumer law but cannot force a refund — only a civil tribunal like ACAT has that authority. However, reporting matters to these regulators is still important, as repeated complaints may lead to formal investigations.

Importantly, a product doesn’t need to be obviously faulty for breaches of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) to occur. Issues like delays, lack of transparency, or misrepresentation during a warranty claim can also be problematic. Pursuing compensation is one avenue, but ensuring compliance with the law is just as important.

I strongly recommend keeping all communication in writing (email or text) with any business — including parent/ related companies. You have the right to choose how you communicate, and refusing to engage unless you speak by phone — or ignoring written communication — could be considered unfair or unconscionable conduct under Section 21 of the ACL.

Additionally, if a business dismisses valid concerns as merely a “change of mind” or “personal expectations” — particularly when the product is not performing as expected — this may be considered misleading conduct under Sections 18 and 29 of the ACL. Offering only optimisation or troubleshooting in response to a clearly underperforming product may also risk breaching Sections 54 and 259, which relate to acceptable quality and the right to remedies for failure. Other relevant ACL protections that may apply in these cases include: • Section 21 – Unconscionable conduct • Section 54 – Guarantee of acceptable quality • Section 259 – Right to a remedy • Section 267 – Right to compensation for consequential loss

I’ve chosen to report my situation to consumer law regulators, not necessarily to seek a refund (since learning compensation is not only way to hold accountability), but to help highlight trends that may be affecting others. Some businesses appear to rely on the idea that consumers won’t escalate issues or aren’t fully aware of their rights — which is why it’s so important to speak up and share knowledge.

Apologies if this post comes across as vague — that’s intentional to avoid legal ambiguity or misinterpretation. My intention is simply to help other consumers who may be navigating similar concerns. I would like also to remind, I’m no lawyer but if needing one, Consumer Law Care, a free walk-in clinic that provides legal advice from lawyers that specialise in consumer violations.

Anther tip, if they refuse to provide you with evidence than download the programs they use and run your own tests.

Appalling service and staff – I bought a bunch of parts from here to upgrade my PC. Installed it on the 19/10/2023. From day one I had issues where the power would turn itself on and off, go into a boot loop cycle - I basically couldn’t use it. Took into Crawford Computers in Greenway to try and repair the system. Long story short had around $2000 total in service fees,… Read more

changed my power supply thinking that was the problem, my internal drive fried had to get that replaced. I didn’t have my computer for two months straight - same issue every time until Crawford went to MSY, bought the exact same brand of motherboard from them, changed the motherboard - and finally it works. So the original board I bought from MSY was faulty. I returned the faulty motherboard I had initially purchased in the Motherboard Box that Crawford Computers had bought the working motherboard (I had thrown out my box and asked Crawfords to keep ahold of the box they’d bought from MSY) and returned it to MSY for the warranty claim. On the day of handing it in, I explained everything that had happened, even Crawfords buying another board from them and was hoping for a cash refund. But no, the manufacturer returned another exact working motherboard to MSY for me to collect. WHAT AM I TO DO WITH 2 EXACTLY THE SAME MOTHERBOARDS?!? all I can do is resell it at a reduced price. Thanx…. Thanx a bunch…. I pay the cost of 2 motherboards (one useless to me) and $1600 in service fees. Thanks for putting me out around $2000. Not coming back here ever again - not like losing one customer will bother you. But 2 months with no PC, the money I lost and still will lose - what a joke.

Update: I have contacted Consumer Affairs and hope to get this resolved. MSY still refuse to give me a refund on the motherboard since the Manufacturer replaced the product which I refuse to collect because doing so would mean I accept the terms of the warranty.

Terrible Service! Unorganised & time wasters. Go elsewhere! I called to book in by phone & the girl on the phone directed me to their website. I should've guessed how badly organised they are by their website. I arrived to drop my computer in, paid $12 for parking, only to be told by staff they don't work on computers they didn't assemble! considered a spare part - but that I would have to return the whole thing, and it would take two to four weeks to be assessed and replaced. I told them this was not not be suitable, so instead would like a refund, but was then told that they could not guarantee a refund. Having looked into it, I found I was within my rights to receive a refund, so called them back and arranged the return. At first even though it was an online order, they wanted me to drive (3 hours) to the nearest store to return it, but I made it clear I was not going to do that, and they seemingly begrudgingly agreed to generate a return label. Whilst I was thanking them for their help, they were monotone and unenthused the entire time. They also said that they can put a request in for the refund, but it may still take a number of weeks. This also does not align with Australian Consumer Law. I won't be buying from MSY / Umart again, and would encourage others to note how poor their online reviews are now. I didn't check, as I know previously they were a good company, but I did not notice Umart had acquired them.

Avoid like the plague. Purchase online from PC case gear, Scorptec or Centrecom. I purchased a 9800x3d, an x870e MOBO and a 6000mhz cl30 kit a couple of weeks ago. After significant troubleshooting to resolve the issue of only one stick of RAM showing after a PC restart , 30% of the time - I decided to go into the store today to return this… Read more

set of RAM due to this major fault.

The store refused to swap the product or provide a refund, unless i submitted to their warranty and return policy which would force me to be without my computer for 1 to 2 weeks. Significantly impacting my ability to work.

Furthermore, they refused to facilitate any ability for me to conduct further testing, that would have my computer remain in my possession as to not impact my work. Which was in the form of my ask to purchase a new kit of RAM outright and then return it that same day should i find the issue persists.

Avoid this store like the plague. Purchase online from PC case gear, Scorptec or Centrecom.

network and all internet connections repeatedly. Returned to Umart-Online-Croydon (I initially bought the router through MSY, expecting to pickup from the retail stores, in either Holden Hill (my local) or Adelaide, but the sale was outsourced instead to Umart, 225 South Road, Ridleyton, SA, 5008). No refund, no replacement router! Up to 4 weeks wait for technician assessment/repair if possible. Refund or replacement provided ONLY if the router cannot be repaired! Returned 23-02-25, today is 02-04-25, 5 and a half weeks! Last email was 23th March, its still on the pile for repair jobs. In the meantime, I was forced to buy a replacement internet router to get us through (thankfully Harvey Norman had a fantastic sale on at the time, and if it doesn't work, return for immediate refund or replacement, no questions asked, customer support as it should be, given Australian consumer law requirements). ACCC needs to take MSY to court yet again, what a surprise! UPDATE: After 7 1/2 weeks, a replacement router was offered (the returned router had tested faulty), asked for a refund instead, as I had bought another router (due to the extensive delay). No refunds (what a surprise), replacement only! Collected the replacement router from Umart immediately. It now sits sealed in the box, gathering dust on my book shelf, as a warning reminder, never again!

A tech company that doesn't know how to link to the correct web page – I bought a cheap micro SD card and they requested a signature on delivery. have to spend over an hour walking in over thirty degree heat to retrieve the single envelope that would have easily fit in my mail box. Of course MSY has no phone number or live chat and when you email them there is no ETA on a response.

If you do want a phone number it's not on their help page and the "contact us" button just tries opening their email address with whatever your PC's default mail app is. Surprised a tech company isn't aware a majority of people access emails in browser and therefore need an address.

Their number is found on their store locations page. For anyone needing MSY's phone number it's found here https://www.msy.com.au/help/customer-service-store-locations-561

The "contact us" button is small and is just that a button. A very small one. If you want their email you have to hover that button and read the address in the bottom right corner of your browser.

I've also been signed up to marketing emails I never agreed to.

Update: It got worse.

They provided two hyper links one named "shipping policy" and the other "terms and conditions". They claimed in those it clearly states a signature is required unless requested otherwise.

The hyper links don't lead to their "Shipping" page or their "terms and conditions" they lead to harder to find help articles/FAQ. Their shipping policy and terms and conditions are found at the bottom of their site and do not disclose all deliveries require a signature.

The only time the word "signature" is found on either page is in the "terms and conditions" and it only discloses if authority to leave is specified shipping insurance is voided.

I checked the shipping policy and terms of conditions before buying but apparently it's my fault because I also didn't go to their help centre page, then selected "orders", and then looked for the specefic article where they disclose something not found in their shipping policy or terms and conditions.

If you think this is bad imagine trying to follow up with a warranty issue with this company.
